45: How to Make Your Competition Irrelevant

mercredi 31 décembre 2025Duration 17:52

Most entrepreneurs view competition as a sign of a healthy market. They accept it as a tax on doing business—an endless race to stand out in a crowded room.

But here is the truth: Competition is a symptom of operating inside a box someone else built. If your prospects can compare you to anyone else, you’ve failed at positioning.

In this episode, we break down Category Design. This isn’t about being better than the competition. It’s about being so unique that you become the only logical choice. We’re moving beyond the noise to help you build a category where you are the sole, undeniable authority.

In this episode:

  • The Symptom of Competition: Why playing the game means you’ve already lost, and how to redefine the field so the game is played on your terms.
  • Energy vs. Architecture: Stop wasting executive energy trying to differentiate. Learn to build a category where alternatives literally cease to exist.
  • The Category Designer’s Edge: The fundamental shift in mindset that separates those who follow trends from those who create them.
  • The Psychology of the Premium Buyer: Why category creation eliminates price-shopping and moves prospects from "maybe" to "take my money!"
  • Infrastructure of Influence: How your proprietary systems and language act as a magnetic filter, attracting elite clients while repelling the rest.
  • Selling the Movement: Why the world’s most powerful brands don't sell services—they sell conviction, identity, and a new status quo.

44: The Price of Mentorship: Trading Your Current Identity for Your Unrelatable Future

mercredi 24 décembre 2025Duration 15:15

What if I told you the true cost of your 7-figure future has absolutely nothing to do with the dollar amount of your next investment?

Most CEOs believe the "stretch" of a high-level mastermind is the financial commitment. It’s not. The financial investment is the easiest part—it is merely the public declaration that you are serious about the actual cost of the future you’re trying to create.

The real price? The identity you have to give up. In this episode, we’re pulling back the curtain on the "identity trades" required to cross the threshold from a capped 6-figure doer to an Unrelatable 7-figure authority. If you feel like you are hitting a glass ceiling despite your skills and hard work, it’s because you are still clinging to the version of yourself that "earned it" through hustle, relatability, and labor.

In this episode:

  • The Hidden Tax of Your Current Identity: How remaining "relatable" is costing you in anxiety, lost status, and the depletion of your visionary energy.
  • From Best Doer to Category Designer: Why you must give up the emotional safety of being excellent at execution to make room for the $10,000/hour strategic work only you can do.
  • Trading Validation for Authority: Moving away from Pick-Me behavior and stepping into the certainty that attracts premium buyers.
  • Hustle vs. Scalable Structure: How to trade your "hardest worker" badge for a proprietary methodology that generates revenue without your presence.
  • The Courage Gap: Why you don't invest for where you are, you invest for where you are going—and why waiting to "make more money" first is a symptom of the very identity that is keeping you stuck.
  • The Unrelatable Future: A look at what happens when you decide to become the required solution in your market—the Category of One that has no competition.

"You’re not afraid of the money. You’re hesitating because you know exactly what it’s going to require of you to make that level of investment pay off."

34: Is Paying for Proximity Helpful, or Total BS?

jeudi 16 novembre 2023Duration 23:27

Is paying top dollar just to be in the “inner circle” of someone you look into worth it, or total BS? Does being close to a highly successful mentor have anything to do with your own personal success in business? We’re diving deep into that topic today.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing: my personal journey of navigating through being all for paying for proximity, to thinking it was a complete waste of money, to coming full circle and realizing the true power of proximity for my business growth. And, trust me: you’ll be successful a lot sooner if you don’t take as long to complete your journey as I did.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • What “paying for proximity” even means in the business space, and why it matters
  • What stages of business require paying for proximity, and which ones require direct strategy and education
  • The fact that self-trust in your own business instincts is integral toward expanding and scaling to massive success
  • How to determine whether or not paying for proximity is the right move for you and where you are in your business journey
  • Why, since learning about this, I make my programs so my clients never have to choose between proximity and strategy (because you need both)

32: How NOT to Market Your Offers on Black Friday

mardi 14 novembre 2023Duration 27:00

Black Friday marketing can go one of two ways — really great or not really great. As a business coach and social media marketing agency owner, I see it all… every year. Some of the worst marketing that I see comes out on Black Friday! I don’t want to see you or your clients fall into this trap so today we’re going to talk about the dos and don’ts of Black Friday Marketing.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing: some of the worst Black Friday marketing that I’ve seen, what NOT to do with your Black Friday marketing, FOMO and pain point marketing, the difference between pain point marketing and offering a solution to a problem. I'll also share how “icky” scarcity mindset marketing hurts your client retention, when opening and closing a cart makes sense, and my best advice for successful marketing on Black Friday.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Creating your marketing around your customer, not you
  • Two types of Black Friday marketing that do NOT work
  • Why I don’t like pain point marketing
  • How to create a sense of excitement in your marketing
  • Using positive marketing to encourage client retention
  • How to safely and positively create urgency around your offer, encouraging your audience to buy from an excited place not a scarcity place

31: The Difference Between Authenticity and Messy Vulnerability

lundi 13 novembre 2023Duration 33:42

Your social media content portrays so much about your brand and business that you need to be thoughtful and intentional about what you post (duh). Using your social media to connect with your audience is a major content piece that then converts your potential clients into paying customers. But, where is the line between sharing enough to connect with your audience and being a messy oversharer? I’ve seen both of these occur online and have watched audiences be put off by the latter. Today we’re going to talk about the difference and how to avoid being the Hot Mess Express.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing: how authenticity can help you connect with your audience and support your brand, the definition of messy vulnerability, the difference between relatability and messy vulnerability. I’ll also share why the key is talking about hardships in the moment vs. talking about what you learned after going through it, and why you need to create a safe space for your audience.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • The difference between authenticity and messy vulnerability
  • How to speak about the hard things you’ve experienced in your life and use that to connect with your audience
  • Your role and responsibility to your audience when online
  • Why trauma dumping to your audience messes up your dynamic with them–and your coach-client relationship
  • When to process hardships offline vs. sharing them online
  • Deciding which life lessons to use for content and how to use them

30: Helpful Terms to Include in Your Contracts

vendredi 10 novembre 2023Duration 32:23

Contracts and Terms (from A Lawyer, not YOUR lawyer)

Once upon a time I was a young Duke graduate, having studied law and off to the races as a big New York attorney… *record scratch* yeah, for real! Your friendly online business coach used to see the ins and outs of contracts and term agreements all. freakin’. day. long. Until finally, I quit to start Coffee Date Media. Today I want to share some inspiration, as AN attorney, not YOUR attorney, that you can take to your law team to protect you and better serve your clients. This episode is not legal advice.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing: helpful terms to consider for your client contracts, what I’ve done as a business owner who knows about contracts, some of the things I like to include in my contracts, why outlining program elements is important, how to protect your intellectual property, and what signing a contract really means.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Why contracts actually protect you, your business, and your clients
  • How contracts can keep you out of litigation
  • Contract terms and tips to consider (take this to your attorney)
  • Using your contract to enforce boundaries
  • Using your contract to reassure and make your clients feel safe working with you
  • How contracts provide value to your clients, making you stand out in your industry

29: How I'm taking 3.5 weeks off without sales slowing down

jeudi 9 novembre 2023Duration 33:01

Chances are, you didn’t quit your 9-5 and start your business just so you could start working 24/7, right? No! If you’re anything like me, you knew that becoming an entrepreneur could give you the precious time and location freedom you’ve always wanted. That means you absolutely are allowed to take breaks from your business to replenish your energy. In fact, taking breaks is necessary if you want to protect yourself from burnout.

Because I know your business might be your “baby”, but a well-rested entrepreneur with work-life balance is an entrepreneur that can show up for their clients and give them an amazing experience.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • The difficult mindset shift you must make from “I need to always be in my business for it to grow” to “taking breaks makes me a better coach/service provider”
  • The extensive prep work and schedule management required to ensure nothing slips through the cracks while you’re gone
  • How to make software and systems your secret weapons
  • What “off” from your business looks like in your situation, and how resist the temptation to sneak back into your office during your break
