The Clinical Link Between CNS Tension and Acute Meniscus Tears10 Dec 202500:25:38

Clinicians often zoom in on the knee with an acute meniscus tear, but the body usually has other plans.  In this episode, I walk through two client cases who arrived with classic meniscal presentations: pain, swelling, and loss of flexion. But the real driver of their pain at that assessment revealed itself only when I followed LTAP® findings back to the central nervous system.

I break down how CNS tension alters dynamic alignment, hip mechanics, and tibiofemoral arthrokinematics, and why this pattern shows up so often in clients with knee pain. You’ll hear exactly how I used the LTAP® to identify the true restriction and why the CNS initially mattered more than local knee work.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

• How CNS tension alters gait, hip rotation, and knee loading during daily movement

• Why addressing cranial containers can transform lower-extremity biomechanics

• How simple sensory-driven treatments can reduce symptoms in structurally injured knees

• When to treat locally, when to treat globally, and how to make that call with confidence

This episode Is a practical reminder that system-level clarity leads to better outcomes, whethers it’s in acute or chronic client cases.

Why Acute Shoulder Pain Isn’t Always a Shoulder Problem03 Dec 202500:28:10

Can an acute injury, like a sudden shoulder subluxation, still have visceral or neural influences worth treating? In this episode, I unpack why even the most straightforward orthopedic cases often have deeper layers that shape pain, recovery, and movement quality.

I share a case of a collegiate softball athlete whose chronic subluxations suddenly flared after a rough bout of COVID and why her lack of progress with rehab made perfect sense once I assessed her through a whole-organism lens view. You’ll hear how lung restrictions, altered thoracic mobility, and neural tension were driving poor scapular mechanics that her strengthening program could never overcome. A few targeted treatments changed her symptoms instantly and shifted her entire rehab trajectory.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

• Why acute pain presentations often include visceral and CNS influences, even when trauma is obvious

• How post-infection thoracic mobility changes can alter scapular mechanics and create instability patterns

• How to differentiate true tissue instability from altered neural output

• Practical ways to influence supraclavicular, phrenic, and brachial plexus input when local loading isn’t tolerated

This episode will help you sharpen your lens for the cases that look simple on the surface but demand deeper, more connected reasoning underneath.

Raising The Bar On Patient Outcomes24 Sep 202500:24:10

Do you really think 60–80% success rates over 2 weeks to 8 months is successful? I don’t.

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I answer a great question someone recently asked me in the Missing Link Facebook group: what are my success rates? I break down why I think the industry average doesn’t cut it, and why I confidently guarantee results in just 1–3 visits.

I also dig into what “success” actually means, why context and nuance matter, and how clarity in assessment can shift outcomes, sharing real-life cases from pro athletes to clients with complex, long-haul health issues.

If you’re tired of mediocre results being considered “normal,” this episode will give you a fresh perspective on what’s possible for your clients and for you as a clinician.

Accessing the Parasympathetic Nervous System without Focusing on Breath!15 Nov 202300:46:29

In this episode  I break down the various parts of the anatomy and physiology of the parasympethic nervous system.

Understanding these parts provides insight on how simple things can help shift into improved parasympathetic tone and robustness of the autonomic nervous system.

I provide easy approaches that are often more powerful or accessible than using breathing exercises alone.

Listening to the Body25 Oct 202300:57:21

In this episode I take a deep dive into what it means to "listen to the body" both from a personal standpoint and as a professional working with another body.

I share my thoughts on how important it is to regain and improve awareness of the sensations in the body and how to identify how we feel when we feel safe and feel how truth feels.

During the episode I also discuss the difference between listening with our ears to what stories the patient or client is sharing vs. listening with your hand, and why we cannot get distracted by the story or our belief system creating bias and searching for evidence to further support our beliefs.

I encourage the listener to practically apply some of these concepts with contemplation, body scans, and to change the order of operation of a typical assessment and treatment session.

Tongue Twister18 Oct 202300:39:43

In this episode I share my experience attending the Tongue Mojo webcast from Stop Chasing Pain.  After years of symptoms related to issues with my esophagus, trachea, stomach, and mouth, I am realizing how important the tongue is!

I took Dr. Perry's course in hopes to see how he practically integrated the tongue with the rest of the body and to learn some exercises to start on before deciding to go the route of a potential tongue tie release (frenectomy).

In this episode I share a bit about the anatomy, why the tongue is so important, and what my progress has been after just a few days of practicing what I learned.

'Psoas' I Was Saying...11 Oct 202300:35:52

Inspired by a recently anatomy image of the relationship between the psoas muscle and the lumbar plexus nerves, this episode shares my thoughts and approach to "tight" psoas muscles and poor hip flexor performance.

I discuss the role the psoas plays with the viscera, nervous system, and movement and offer my thoughts on assessment and simple treatments that don't really involve endless stretching, smashing, or strengthening of the psoas muscle.

Assessment is Sexy (with guest Lex Lancaster)04 Oct 202300:49:03

My friend and colleague Lex Lancaster is back on the Unreal Results podcast, this time sharing about her experience with long standing shoulder pain.

While she was in San Diego helping me out with a course I was teaching we were able to find a 30min window to assess and treat her shoulder using the LTAP (locator test assessment protocol).

Her "historically problematic shoulder" which she described as stabbing 9/10 pain- gone with a 25-30 min assessment and treatment session directed at her liver and diaphragm, and C4. This one session allowed her to not only play 6hrs of volleyball over the next couple days, but in the same week lifted 1-2 upper extremity heavy focused strength training days without pain! I treated her again briefly 6 weeks later when I visited her in New Hampshire- which was more for my own curiosity of how her tissues and mobility felt and now 7 months later she is still pain free and doing volleyball and strength training without issue! She even admitted to not doing any of the home exercise program I gave her. Lol

In this episode we chat about how that changed her mindset about physical therapy and  how it highlighted just how important the assessment is and how understanding the anatomy and connections of the viscera can help everyone treat from a new lens of view even without having training in visceral and neural manipulation techniques.

REPLAY of Call 2 from The Results Code: SI Joint Pain and the LTAP Approach29 Sep 202301:48:27

Replay of the 2nd live call from the Results Cheat Code Course.

During this call we review the SI joint mobility locator test and talk about assessment and treat guidelines and some treatment options.

We also explore where SI joint pain fits in this clinical picture and how to truly diagnose the SI joint as the pain generator vs. if it is coming from another one of the many things that connects to or significantly influences the SI joint.

I also answer all the questions that have come up in the course and share why continuing the educational journey to the LTAP Level 1 course may be the key to getting even better results!

The Results Cheat Code Course Unveiled: REPLAY Call 1 Sept 202329 Sep 202301:37:18

This is a replay of the kick off call to the Results Cheat Code Course.

One of the things I hear from sports healthcare professionals is that in their day to day, they lack the confidence to guarantee results for their clients.

What most sports healthcare professionals miss is the ability to trust the wisdom of the body and be able to listen to it to guide the treatment sequencing. When you know where to start by listening to the body you will get fast results that stick using any tool or treatment approach you like. Getting consistent results like that will improve your confidence and have you feeling inspired by every client's session, even the most complicated clients, without having to learn ANOTHER treatment system.

The Results Cheat Code is rooted in the beliefs that the patient’s body knows best, the SI joint connects everything, AND where you start matters.

In this course, you will learn how to use a foundational orthopedic test that assesses SI joint mobility and “asks the body” the 1st of 3 important questions: “Is there something you are protecting?” Asking the body simply means performing a manual assessment and allowing the results to guide treatment.

The SI joint is unique in that it has a direct connection to everything- visceral organs, the central nervous system, the myofascial system, and the peripheral nervous system. This makes it a PERFECT joint to use for a full- truly whole-body assessment. And perhaps this is the reason why SI joint dysfunction is so common yet not always easily treated. The Results Cheat Code will provide you with a new lens of view on an old assessment that will not only make dealing with SI joint issues easy but allow you to see how it influences all aches, pains, and injuries you encounter.

Based on the results of the assessment the body directs you to know if the SI joint mobility is being affected by the visceral organs, the central nervous system, or the musculoskeletal thus allowing you to know EXACTLY where to start treatment because when you know exactly where to start treatment you will get better results so you can-

  • spend less time repeating treatment techniques
  • require fewer treatment sessions
  • have happy clients
  • gain confidence that you guarantee results and can help anyone

Using the LTAP to Guide Treatment of Costovertebral Joint Dysfunction27 Sep 202300:41:14

In this episode I share a recent case that had “unreal results”.  After 5 yrs of ‘shoulder’ pain and a recent scare of symptoms that felt like a heart attack just one virtual assessment using the MovementREV LTAP (locator test assessment protocol) was able to identify the underlying visceral driver and provide a clear path to long term healing and improved function through movement based interventions for both the visceral driver and the biomechanical limitations.

This provides insight on not just how I use the LTAP, but how I do virtual assessment and consulting, as well as the importance of recognizing symptoms, asking the right questions, and not being distracted by the client story!

Getting Remarkable Results In Rural New Zealand: LTAP™ Alumni Interview22 Sep 202500:46:34

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I sit down with physiotherapist and LTAP™ alum, Storm Baynes-Ryan, who brings a whole-human approach to care from her rural practice in Gisborne, New Zealand.

Storm shares how stepping away from physiotherapy to raise her four kids shifted her perspective on empathy and the importance of treating people, not just diagnoses. She brings that perspective to powerful case studies of stubborn shoulders, decades-long back pain, and even an old farmer who walked away pain-free after just a few visits.  All because she knew where to start.

We also talk about what it’s like to learn the LTAP™ entirely online, and how she applies the same principles successfully in both hands-on and virtual sessions.

If you’ve ever felt stuck with a client who isn’t progressing, or wondered how to get consistent results without fancy techniques, Storm’s insights will inspire you to see assessment and treatment through a new, whole-body lens.

What You are Missing with Hamstring Strains20 Sep 202300:43:41

Are hamstring strains really as straightforward as they seem? In this episode I dive into some of the less known complexities of this common injury, sharing the top three aspects that often get overlooked in treatment. By sharing a case from my own practice - a professional football player with recurrent hamstring strains - l explore the distinction between true muscle weakness and neurological changes, and how our language and what we say matters.

Look beyond the muscles and musculoskeletal system to examine the hidden causes of hamstring strains such as nerve tension and entrapment. This tension can be in surprising places - not just the peripheral nervous system, but also centrally in the spine or cranium. You'll learn about the key role of visceral connections and how a protective pattern can not just change mobility and muscle performance but also change the dynamic alignment that is often seen with hamstring issues.

This is more than just another conversation about movement. This is an exploration into the body's intricate network of connections, where I hope you will gain valuable insights to benefit your athletes and clients.

The Power of the Trigeminal Nerve13 Sep 202300:33:02

Trigeminal Nerve is one of the largest cranial nerves. This nerve provides sensation to the face, as well as motor innervates ion to the masseter muscle, the strongest muscle in our body (jaw). It also, however, does another powerful thing: innervates the tentorium and fallx in the cranium the thickening of the dura or meninges, and therefore has a direct effect on intracranial pressure and nervous system tension throughout the body.

In this episode, we explore the anatomy and anatomical relationships of the trigeminal nerve and its role in autonomic nervous system balance. I share my favorite treatment techniques and why this nerve is one of the nerves I treat very often.

Sciatica Secrets06 Sep 202300:25:49

Sciatica is maybe one of the top things I get asked about in the DMs on Instagram, perhaps because it is so prevalent and difficult to treat in the traditional setting.

One of the reasons it may be challenging is because sciatica is more of a diagnosis of symptoms than the “problem.” In this episode, I share how the anatomy of the nervous system can provide the top areas to consider for treatment, which is more than the lumbar discs and piriformis!

I also provide some insight into how to use your assessment to determine where to start treatment to have the best outcomes.

The Peripheral Heart23 Aug 202300:29:02

In this episode, I dive into the world of this 'peripheral heart', the soleus muscle. I discuss the anatomy of the soleus and how it relates to movement and general health, as well as how a weak soleus can create a ripple effect, leading to increased tone and trigger points, cognitive decline, and fluid imbalance.

Listen to some unexpected revelations about this muscle and how strengthening it can be a game-changer for your mobility, balance, and for me, even in alleviating symptoms of exertional compartment syndrome.

I share about the role the soleus plays in common pathology like achilles tendinopathy and ACL injuries looking at both of its roles in postural control as well as elastic recoil.

10 Years of Loss - grief, feeling your feelings, and breath16 Aug 202300:55:32

This is a really personal episode for me, though I have often talked about my how losing my Mom to lung cancer was a pivotal time in my life and professionally was the tipping point to learn about visceral manipulation, I have not shared a lot on my grief journey in general.

For 10 years, from 2009-2019 loss and grief were at the forefront of my life, and it was a very heavy time. However, in that sorrow, I chose to lean-in to it and let it be a teacher for me, slowly learning how to take care of myself and recognize and feel my feelings.

In this episode I share my stories of loss- friends, family, parents, homes, identities and more and what resources were helpful to me in meeting my grief and learning find joy again.

I also share the connection of grief to the viscera and common musculoskeletal pains that can result and how many of the self-care practices are actually facilitating our brain and autonomic nervous system in healing.

Cranial Nerves- More Than an Assessment for Concussions09 Aug 202300:58:17

Missy Bunch joins me today to chat a bit about how an area of the brain stem is responsible for inhibiting pain, a concept that I learned in her MovementIQ Mentorship program.

Missy is my go to resource when I need help with my athletes and with my own body. Previously a Master Trainer with Z-Health Performance, Missy teaches healthcare and wellness professionals how to implement the basics of neurology and pain science to get long lasting results for their patients and clients.

Many of us who are ATs or PTs have learned the cranial nerves and traditional cranial nerve assessments as part of a concussion assessment- and now, you can put that knowledge to use to help patient out of pain, improve mobility, and improve strength.

The cranial nerves are just a small piece of what she teaches in her mentorship which is open for enrollment until August 16th. Check it out here: https://www.missybunch.com/miq

Easily Restore Knee Extension After Injury or Surgery21 Jun 202300:35:12

I spent many, many, many days of physical therapy in tears with the PT cranking on my knee, trying to force knee extension and flexion after surgery. It was traumatizing to say the least, and now I know it didn't need to be like that. After rehabbing 3 surgeries in high school and college and forcing the range of motion, by the time I had my 4th surgery as a sports healthcare professional, I knew better and was able to quickly and easily improve my knee extension- no force, no tears, minimal effort.

In this podcast episode, I share my top techniques to quickly restore knee range of motion after injury or surgery that don't require old school forceful techniques but work with the body to restore the joint arthokinematics and osteokineamtics quickly and in a way that sticks from treatment to treatment, so you don't have to endlessly repeat the techniques in every rehab session.

Reflexive Core Stability: Lessons From My Back Surgery - Part 314 Jun 202300:49:53

In this podcast episode, I delve deeper into the lessons learned during my personal journey of back surgery and recovery. Building on the insights shared in the previous episodes, I focus on the crucial concept of reflexive core stability.

I begin by highlighting the misconception that reflexive core control is solely associated with specific exercises, such as chops and lifts. Instead, I shed light on the role of reflexive stability and the fascinating ways our bodies instinctively activate core control.

Delving into the definition of stability, as outlined by Punjabi, I explore the factors that contribute to stiffness within the musculoskeletal and fascial systems. I discuss the role of neurological stiffness, particularly its connection to hypermobility and the body's protective response. By understanding the purpose of neurological stiffness, we can approach it with caution, avoiding attempts to break it without addressing the underlying causes.

Moving on, I discuss two other forms of stiffness: muscular stiffness and physiological stiffness. Muscular stiffness stems from conscious muscle contractions, such as bracing, while physiological stiffness arises from hypertrophy and the pressure-container effect within the fascia. I highlight the significance of hypertrophied muscles in creating stiffness and the relationship between load, strength, and reflexive stiffness.

I further explore the hydraulic amplifier effect, which occurs through intra-abdominal pressure and dynamic alignment of fascial containers. Understanding weight shifts and their impact on maintaining dynamic alignment becomes crucial in harnessing the hydraulic amplifier effect. By incorporating active sensory systems, such as active head and neck movements, active hands, and an awareness of three-dimensional breath, we can tap into reflexive stiffness and optimal core stability.

Throughout the episode, I emphasize the importance of finding the right balance of load and resistance in order to connect with and optimize reflexive stiffness. Drawing from my personal experience, I challenge the fear of lifting heavy weights, as it can be instrumental in activating the stabilizers and achieving reflexive core control.

Join me on this enlightening episode as we unravel the secrets of reflexive core stability and uncover the transformative power of understanding and harnessing our body's innate abilities for optimal movement and spinal health.

REPLAY: The Missing Link- Live Training #122 Sep 202501:40:29

In this special episode of Unreal Results Podcast, I share the replay of Live Training #1 from The Missing Link (Fall 2025). You’ll learn how one change to your assessment—adding a simple breath hold—reveals whether the viscera, CNS, or peripheral neurovascular system is driving a patient’s presentation, so you can stop chasing symptoms and start getting faster, stickier results.

What’s inside:

  • Why most clinics plateau at 60–80% success—and how to break that ceiling without overhauling your entire approach.
  • LTAP™ overview: 5 orthopedic-based assessments guided by osteopathic principles to pinpoint the true driver (viscera/CNS/peripheral NV vs. MSK).
  • SI joint as the “traffic cop”: A reliable gateway into whole-organism status (and why this isn’t just a “low back thing”).
  • Standing March Test walkthrough: Setup, light-touch palpation, what “normal” looks like, and the exact breath-hold cue that changes the result.
  • Interpretation that actually guides treatment: When the breath hold changes the test vs. when it doesn’t—and what to do next.
  • Adapting the test for scoliosis, spinal fusion, neuro conditions, and how to handle high-pain states.

Lessons From Back Surgery- Part 231 May 202300:30:02

In this episode, I continue telling the journey of my back surgery rehabilitation and the lessons learned. I was smart enough to know that I needed to do rehab somewhere other than where I worked, which led me to choose a pilates-based rehab provider. This set in motion seeing movement through a different lens and having me question that despite being strong and able to do so many "core" exercises, I still had difficulty feeling any reflexive core stabilization. I share my "AH-HA" moments and treatments that finally led to answers on why this was such a challenge.

Why the Shoulder Comes Last10 May 202300:26:47

In this episode I share about the common visceral referrals to the joints of the upper extremity as well as discuss how the anatomy connects not only visceral pain referrals but can be primary drives to biomechanical and movement dysfunction or imbalances, that may results in shoulder or upper extremity pain and injury.

I discuss not only chronic and insidious onset of shoulder pain, but always how this concept of never treating the shoulder first remains true even for actor injury and post surgery cases.

The Stories We Tell: A lesson from my compartment syndrome26 Apr 202300:38:41

In this episode, I share a story about how I recently learned the reason I hate hiking is actually likely due to an undiagnosed medical condition. With help from my friend, Lex Lancaster, she asked the right questions while we were on a hike (she sold it as a walk) and shared a case with me that made it clear that the uncomfortable feeling I get in my legs while hiking is not from tight calves and being "out of shape" but likely chronic extertional compartment syndrome.

This story highlights how powerful the stories we tell ourselves and our clients are and discusses compartment syndrome and its systemic nature.

This is the beginning of my journey with compartment syndrome, and I share my general plan for rehab. (And will continue to in a future podcast episode).

The Surprising Problem with Scoliosis19 Apr 202300:33:08

In this episode I share the mic with my good friend, Lex Lancaster. She is a physical therapist and digital business operations expert. She has joined me at the last two in-person REVitalize Mentorship Mastermind weekends, which lead to a wonderful learning experience for the participants, as she also happens to have scoliosis. In this podcast she shares her scoliosis story and how learning from me and applying the principles of the MovementREV philosophy and methodology has helped her for the first time feel good in her curves and learn how to move, be, lift, and live with scoliosis in a much more comfortable way than she has in her previous years.

This episode and Lex's experience demonstrate exactly what the problem is with scoliosis, and spoiler alert- it has nothing to do with the actual anatomy and everything to do with the stories and traditional treatment plans the Western medical field uses to approach it.

Rest Postures vs. Stretching vs. Mobility12 Apr 202300:22:19

In this week's episode, we're talking rest postures versus stretching versus mobility. What the heck is the difference and why does it matter? What you're going to find out is it boils down to your intention and your attention during the exercises.

I share about learning Phillip Beach's contractile field theory and archetypal postures of repose (rest postures) and how it was a pivotal learning moment for me 8 years ago. Not only did this make sense from a developmental movement standpoint and feel like a missing piece to the entire functional movement picture, but it was a novel way to access rest.

Within the context of understanding the power of the rest postures was also, a fundamental understanding of how it related to the nervous system and mirrored some osteopathic principles I was exploring at the same time, which continues to be a main driver in the MovementREV philosophy and methodology.

Stop Foam Rolling the IT Band05 Apr 202300:26:18

In this episode I share my thoughts about the common practice of foam rolling the IT band, especially for the reason of it being "tight."

I compare the Marvel character Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy to the IT Band and what the anatomy shows in relation to how the IT band is supposed to be extremely stiff, but also has many sensory nerve endings throughout its length, which is why it can create so much discomfort and not communicate much other than a sensation that sometimes is recognized as tightness.

EBP Police29 Mar 202300:36:10

In this week's episode I share a recap on a busy month and my thoughts on the evidence based practice police on the internet and why inherently all research is biased and no matter how strong the statistics are it still is not the end all be all on what is actually happening inside the human organism. That due to the nature of all the variables, it is nearly impossible to know exactly why and how our treatment strategies often work. So why can't we just all get along? Lol

Treating My Own Ulnar Nerve Entrapment17 Sep 202500:38:56

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I take you inside a case study of ulnar nerve entrapment and hand pain - ME!

These symptoms are something I’ve dealt with in the past, but after doing a lot of hands-on work with clients recently, they flared up again. So I thought this was the perfect opportunity to share my thought process with you of how I would assess and treat this.

I walk you through the history of my symptoms, the classic entrapment sites for the ulnar nerve, and why treating the elbow, wrist, or hand first rarely solves the problem. You’ll see how the real drivers often trace back to the cranium, first rib, and central nervous system, and why addressing those areas made the biggest impact on my mobility and pain.

I also demonstrate practical assessment and treatment strategies you can use right away. From checking carrying angle and pronation to applying simple nerve glides, skin lifts, and manual release strategies.

Whether you’re working with athletes, clients with upper extremity pain, or even your own nagging symptoms, this episode will give you tools and insights to approach ulnar nerve entrapments with a true whole-body lens.

Left side sciatica or right side shoulder pain? 22 Mar 202300:34:59

Do you sometimes see a string of similar complaints from your patients, athletes, or clients? Seemingly everyone has left hamstring or sciatica-type pain or is complaining of tightness of the shoulder and neck, or complaints about the right hip feeling tight or painful. Not only are these common this time of year, but my assessment, the MovementREV LTAP (locator test assessment protocol), directs me to the liver, right kidney, and right bronchus.

Often in the spring, I am directed to these locations in the body with other symptoms or complaints- foot pain, knee pain, and SI joint pain. Pain and limited mobility due to visceral and neural restrictions can be anywhere in the body. This is why while using the Visceral Referral Cheat Sheet can be helpful, the ability to use an assessment like the LTAP is imperative to know exactly where to direct treatment to, to have the best outcome.

So why does the season of the year matter? Spring is associated with the liver and gallbladder organs in TCM (traditional Chinese medicine), but also it makes sense; in spring, the immune load increases often due to springtime hay fever and allergies.

In this podcast episode, I share the seasonal connection with the liver and how it causes classical referral patterns like left-sided sciatica or right-sided shoulder pain. I also dive into a bit of the anatomy of the liver, the viscerosomatic reflexes, and how to use this to our advantage when picking treatment tools directed at supporting the function and mobility of the liver to help treat sciatica and shoulder pain.

Unlocking the Fibula15 Mar 202300:31:03

Fun fact about the fibula- its name in Latin (fibula) and Greek (peroneal) means: "clasp." I love this fact because you can easily see why it was named that; not only does it look like a clasp or safety pin when it is next to the tibia, but its ability to move is imperative for optimal function because, like a safety pin, it connects things together. When it is locked, it can wreak havoc on things.

Spend 30min with me on a tour around the fibular anatomy. This small bone, written off by many, plays a big role in gait, ankle function, rotational knee stability, and hip and SI function.

Though it accounts for a small amount of load in weight-bearing, the fibula is a key player that, when not moving due to visceral, neural, or mechanical issues, drives a lot of faulty movement patterns and/or pain.

9 Years and 9 Lessons08 Mar 202300:35:41

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, Anna reminisces about the very beginning days of MovementREV. Including part of what spurred her decision to leave EXOS 9 years ago this week. In this anniversary episode, Anna reflects on some important lessons learned personally, in business, and with patient care, including:

  1. Burnout at work often has more to do with you than the industry, work, or your clients
  2. Feeling is greater than thinking. What an alarm clock has to do with it.
  3. Few professionals feel like they know what they are doing- be weary of the self-proclaimed experts
  4. What worked for me in business probably may not work for you
  5. Being the best at what you do always helps
  6. Words are powerful- stop starting eval’s and treatments telling people what they have wrong with them.
  7. You are the master of your experience. Choose wisely and if you don’t like it, change it.
  8. Say no more to others and yes more to yourself.
  9. Forcing things is not the way.

Cheers to 9 years of MovementREV and THANK YOU for being a part of it.

The Mysterious, Misunderstood, and Mistreated SI Joint01 Mar 202300:36:12

In this episode, Anna shares her core beliefs about the SI joint:
1. The SI joint moves, and the movement is what makes us uniquely human
2. The SI joint, in general, is misunderstood and, therefore, often mistreated
3. The SI joint is connected to and influenced by everything- the viscera, the central nervous system, the deep fascia, the myofascial /musculoskeletal system, and the peripheral nerves

Throughout the episode, Anna talks about the relevant anatomy that is connected to and influences the mobility of the SI joint, how it relates to common pain referral patterns, understanding SI joint pain driven by hypermobility, and how the mobility of the SI joint can actually be a foundational assessment not just for the joint itself but for the full body, examining how the influence of the viscera and nervous system affect whole body movement and mobility.

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome22 Feb 202300:32:55

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, Anna reviews the relevant anatomy involved with thoracic outlet syndrome. Understanding the anatomy, especially of the spaces the neurovascular structures transverse, help to argue that the traditional standard protocol for TOS treatment and exercise prescription doesn't just not make sense but is the opposite of what would be best.

Anna shares the red flags to look for in assessing vascular TOS vs. neural, as well as provides insight on assisting a neurosurgeon and thoracic surgeon in diagnosing a unique case involving the phrenic nerve and diaphragm paralysis.

Knowing Yourself and Recognizing Patterns15 Feb 202300:28:34

This episode of the Unreal Results podcast is an impromptu podcast episode where Anna dives into how knowing herself and paying attention to her patterns of behavior help her to actually recognize  subtle signs of feeling tired, a feeling that is very difficult for her to sense, interoceptively.

One of the signs for her is she starts searching flights to Hawaii. 😂⁣ Which is an action that spurred this reflection along with thinking about her personal (and professional) development over the last 10-15 years, getting to know herself better.⁣

In the episode Anna shares how assessing her Clifton Strengths lead to some reflections on not only how the feeling relates to recognizing being tired, but how it is also woven into how she practices as an athletic trainer and sports healthcare educator.

In this episode, Anna answers a common question: how she started to learn visceral manipulation and assimilate it into her sports healthcare practice?

Follow along on the journey from learning about the technique from a colleague and then a few years later connecting the dots after her Mom was diagnosed with stage 4 3b lung cancer, realizing just how many healthcare practitioners missed the diagnosis, chalking up the symptoms she was having (shoulder pain, back pain, neck pain, and numbness and tingling to her fingers) to poor posture, decreased fitness, and lack of exercise.

Anna discusses how this realization led to the feeling that she was doing a massive disservice to her athletes and clients not having a better understanding of what was happening beneath the musculoskeletal system and just how important a clear and complete differential diagnosis is, not just in treating musculoskeletal pain and injury but potentially even helping to diagnose life-threatening diseases like lung cancer.

How there is a need to do a thorough assessment when evaluating our clients and to not settle for a slow, never-ending treatment plan of care, but to realize when musculoskeletal pain and injury do not improve as expected, it is time to re-evaluate and look at the bigger picture, not just follow the diagnosis from the doctor or MRI.

Why Being Able to Guarantee Results is a Key to Feeling Fulfilled in Your Work as a Sports Healthcare Professional21 Dec 202200:11:54

My personal definition of success is when my clients don't need me. That may sound like a terrible business model at first, because if they don't need me then I am not working, but it actually helps to keep them as a client and the biggest raving fan which creates more business in the long run.

How do I help my clients to not need me? I can guarantee results in 1-3 sessions. I have found that the path to be able to guarantee such unreal results is also the path to create more fulfillment at work. Results + fulfillment, is the ultimate equation to preventing (or helping) professional burnout.

In this episode I share what you can expect inside these podcast episodes:

  • exploring MovementREV philosophy and methodology (a blend of osteopathic medicine and sports performance rehabilitation) and tangible take aways for your practice.
  • anatomy deep dives- specifically into relationships between the nervous system, viscera, and musculoskeletal system
  • common and complex case discussion and possibilities for assessment and treatment in this new lens of view

The goal of each episode is to encourage curiosity and expose you to a more true whole body lens of view and to help you get better outcomes so you can feel successful and be able to guarantee results.

Combining the LTAP™, Shockwave, & Laser For Better Results - LTAP™ Alumni Interview15 Sep 202500:44:57

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I sit down with athletic trainer and LTAP™ alum, Maria DelliVeneri, to explore what it looks like to run a private practice that blends regenerative medicine, shockwave and laser therapy, and whole-body assessment.

Maria shares her journey from working in high school and collegiate athletics to serving an older, but still very active, population in Bend, Oregon, and how she’s using LTAP™ to get breakthrough results with some of the most complex cases. We dive into how she integrates neuro-visceral assessment with modalities like shockwave, what it really takes to help clients who have “tried everything,” and why meeting patients through a lens they already understand can make treatment stick.

Maria shares powerful case examples, from helping clients avoid unnecessary exploratory surgery to restoring lost range of motion after knee replacement.

If you’re a clinician looking for new ways to approach chronic pain, stubborn movement limitations, or combining advanced modalities with whole-body assessment, this episode will expand your lens and show you what’s possible when you treat the whole system.

How Many Sessions Do Clients Really Need?10 Sep 202500:39:50

What’s the “right” frequency for treatment sessions? Once a week, twice a week, three times?

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I unpack one of the most common questions I get from clinicians: how often should you be scheduling your clients?

I share why treatment frequency isn’t black and white, how precision in your assessment changes how often you actually need to see someone, and why constraints like client goals,  financial realities, and training demands all shape the decision.

I walk you through real examples from my current caseload from NFL athletes in season, to post-op patients, to Navy SEAL candidates in the middle of BUD/S training, so you can see how I decide whether to see someone once a month, once a week, or multiple times in a week.

If you’ve ever wondered how to balance science, client needs, and your own bandwidth when planning care, this conversation will give you clarity and confidence.

You're Already Treating The Viscera... You Just Don't Know It06 Aug 202500:31:45

What if the reason your go-to treatment isn’t working… isn’t because it’s the wrong technique?

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I unpack a question I’ve been sitting with a lot lately: how much do precision and specificity actually matter in treatment?

You’ll hear why I believe the right place to treat matters more than the right tool, and why even the most advanced technique can fall flat if it’s not directed by a clear assessment. I share examples from clinical practice and reflections from my own continuing education journey.

I also share the backstory behind my new mini course, Go-To Treatments for the Viscera and Nervous System, and how it’s designed to challenge the idea that you need more fancy tools to get better results. (Spoiler: you probably already have what you need, you might just need a different lens to see it through.)

Whether you’re feeling stuck with a tricky client or wondering if your treatment toolbox needs an upgrade, this episode will help you clarify what really creates change and how to get there without overcomplicating the process.

Clinical Clarity Through Inhibition Tests30 Jul 202500:21:24

If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Where should I treat first,” this is the episode for you.

This episode of the Unreal Results podcast, is all about one of my favorite tools that’s simple to implement and wildly effective at uncovering what’s actually driving pain: inhibition tests.

You’ve probably heard me reference inhibition tests in past episodes and today I’m breaking them down into what they are, how they work, and why they can be a game-changer in identifying hidden drivers of pain, mobility limitations, and strength loss.  You’ll hear me talk about what makes a good inhibition test, why so many people get it wrong, and how this approach can take you from guessing to knowing exactly where to start treatment.

Whether you've been using the LTAP™ for some time or just starting to question traditional orthopedic thinking, this episode will show you how to listen to the body in a whole new way and get those jaw-dropping “holy cow!” moments in your sessions.
