| You're Wrong About Attachment | UnMuted Love Ep.106 | 31 Aug 2026 | 00:47:25 | |
Ce Eshelman, LMFT, sits down with Jen Lumanlan — host of Your Parenting Mojo and author of Parenting Beyond Power — and starts by picking a fight. Not really. Jen once made an episode called "Most of what you know about attachment is probably wrong." Ce owns a place called The Attach Place Center for Strengthening Relationships, LLC. What follows is not a debate so much as a really good untangling: what the attachment research actually says, who it was built on, and what still holds up when your child arrived at age six with a file folder and a garbage bag. Then they get into the meatier stuff you can use today. Collaborative problem-solving when your child’s survival brain gets to the conversation first. What to do when the unmet need underneath the behavior is I don't believe adults keep children safe. Why the safest parent gets the worst behavior. And whether it's too late for a fourteen-year-old who came home at nine. (Spoiler: it isn't.) Bring your coffee. Bring your skepticism. Bring the part of you that's tired. Both of these women get you. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/XvmrtUVLgVo 💡 Take one of Jen's free quizzes → https://go.yourparentingmojo.com/tl/312 💡 Use code UNMUTED to get $10 off Jen's masterclass on why you're so angry with your child's age-appropriate behavior (and what to do about it) → https://go.yourparentingmojo.com/tl/303 💡 Jen's Taming Your Triggers workshop → https://go.yourparentingmojo.com/t?orid=27633&opid=16 From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | When Reading Causes Shame Spirals | UnMuted Love Ep.105 | 24 Aug 2026 | 00:36:30
What happens when reading stops feeling like learning and starts feeling like proof that a child is “not smart”? In this episode of UnMuted Love, Ce Eshelman talks with Ruth Rumack, founder of Ruth Rumack’s Learning Space and creator of The Yak Pack Comics, about the emotional side of reading struggles--the part parents do not always know how to name. For many striving readers, repeated reading difficulty is not just an academic problem. It can become a nervous system problem, a shame problem, a confidence problem, and eventually an identity problem. A child who is bright, creative, verbal, curious, or deeply capable may still melt down, avoid reading, refuse homework, guess wildly, shut down, or say heartbreaking things like, “I’m stupid,” or “I hate reading.” Ruth helps parents understand what may be happening underneath those behaviors. Ce and Ruth talk about why children with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, anxiety, executive functioning challenges, and other learning differences often need more than extra practice. They need reading support that protects emotional safety, preserves dignity, and keeps the parent-child relationship from becoming another place where the child feels behind. This conversation is especially helpful for parents whose evenings have turned into reading battles, homework stress, tears, avoidance, or power struggles. Ruth offers a compassionate, practical way to think about helping children build reading skills without adding pressure, shame, or fear. They also discuss The Yak Pack Comics, Ruth’s decodable phonics comic series created to help children reconnect with reading through humor, success, and joy. This might be the episode that rings a bell for what your child really needs. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/WEDAZqLIxvs 📖 Check out FREE sample Yak Pack comic → https://rumackresources.com/product/yak-pack-comics-free-sample/ 📖 Check out the Yak Pack phonics comic books → https://bit.ly/YakPackComics 🌐 Find Ruth on her website → https://ruthrumack.com 💡 Check out Ruth's resources and publications → https://rumackresources.com From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? In this episode, Ce Eshelman, Attachment and Trauma Specialist, explores the impact on siblings in a house where one has big feelings due to complex developmental trauma symptoms. This episode is about the sibling in your house. The one who isn’t in crisis. The one who learned to read the mood in a room before they could read a book. The research says one thing protects these kids most, which is more doable than you’d think. No guilt in this one. You’ve got plenty already. | Control-Free Parenting: Is That A Thing? | UnMuted Love Ep.103 | 27 Jul 2026 | 00:26:02
In this episode, Ce sits down with Conscious Living and Parenting Coach, Vibha Arora, to unpack her “Control-Free Parenting” approach—a blend of Positive Discipline and Conscious Parenting that challenges the instinct to manage, correct, and control. Vibha is clear: this isn’t about being permissive. And it’s definitely not about stepping back and hoping for the best. This is about doing the harder, deeper work: understanding what’s driving your child’s behavior and what’s getting activated inside of you. | Co-Regulation Tools That Actually Help Kids | UnMuted Love Ep.102 | 20 Jul 2026 | 00:40:08
In this highly practical conversation, Ce Eshelman sits down again with somatic therapist and Life Balance founder, Layne Burkette, to move beyond talking about regulation to actually practicing it with children. Part 1 was focused on showing parents how to use regular breath work for their own wellness. In this second part, Ce and Layne demonstrate simple, usable breathwork and somatic practices parents can use with their children in real time. These aren't complicated techniques or something you need to “make” children do. These are small, body-based ways to build regulating breath into your children’s daily lives. | Why Your Regulation Matters More Than Parenting Skills | UnMuted Love Ep.101 | 13 Jul 2026 | 00:45:40
In this highly practical two-part conversation, Ce Eshelman sits down again with somatic therapist and Life Balance founder, Layne Burkette, to move beyond talking about regulation and actually practice it. This episode focuses on regulating breath work for parents. Together, Ce and Layne explore why parents can know every good parenting strategy and still lose access to those skills when their child’s nervous system lights up the room. They unpack what happens in the body when parents feel pushed, flooded, frozen, or desperate to fix things fast, and why the first intervention is often not a better too, but a steadier body. You'll learn simple, usable breathwork and somatic practices that you can try in real time. These aren't complicated techniques or one-more-thing-to-master exercises. They are small, body-based ways to interrupt reactivity, soften the nervous system, and return to enough safety to parent from presence instead of upset. In Part 2 next week, Ce and Layne demonstrate how to use breath work to create a regulating way of engaging children every day. | A Very Special Message | UnMuted Love Ep.100 | 06 Jul 2026 | 00:14:37
For the 100th episode of UnMuted Love, Ce Eshelman, LMFT, steps back to name the conviction threaded through every conversation she's had on this show: a child's behavior is information, not an indictment. Behavior tells us what a nervous system is managing—it doesn't tell us who the child is or who they will become. Pulling from nearly four decades as an attachment specialist and her own years parenting children who came home through foster care, Ce explains why the standard parenting playbook falls apart for kids whose earliest experiences were shaped by fear and loss. Punishment doesn't generate safety. Lectures don't produce calm. And the adults sweating it out every day deserve the same understanding they're asked to give to their child. She talks candidly about caregiver depletion, draws a firm line between therapeutic parenting and going soft, and circles back to the truth she keeps returning to: rebuilding trust is possible, but it can't be rushed or demanded. Part reflection, part celebration, part permission slip for every parent who's quietly wondered if they're doing it all wrong. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/amVmY_ksrdc From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? If you’ve ever thought, “We should have stayed home,” halfway through a celebration, Ce Eshelman made this episode of UnMuted Love just for you. This episode applies not only to the Fourth of July, but to any celebration with fireworks or loud sensory input, including:

| Where Love Meets Limits | UnMuted Love Ep.98 | 22 Jun 2026 | 00:43:45 | |
What if discipline isn't about compliance at all? In this thought-provoking conversation, Ce Eshelman sits down with parenting educator and founder of Non-Coercive, Collaborative Parenting, Vivek Patel, to explore one of the biggest questions parents face: How do you maintain boundaries, safety, and leadership without relying on control, punishment, or power struggles? Together, they unpack the difference between collaboration and permissiveness, what healthy limits look like in real life, and how parents can stay grounded when emotions are running high. This conversation offers a fresh perspective on discipline, connection, and the kind of leadership that builds trust rather than fear. | Neurodivergent Children on the Inside | UnMuted Love Ep.97 | 15 Jun 2026 | 00:46:29
Neurodivergent children can be perplexing to a parent. In this episode of UnMuted Love, Ce Eshelman has a lively sit down with Mark Talaga, a neurodivergent therapist, for an enlightening conversation about parenting neurodivergent children through both lived experience and professional wisdom. Ce and Mark explore what it means to understand neurodivergent children from the inside out—not only through diagnoses, school reports, behavior plans, or parenting strategies, but through the real human experience of being a child whose nervous system, identity, sensitivities, and gifts may not fit neatly into the world around them. This conversation speaks directly to parents raising children who are gifted and asynchronous. They can be bright, articulate, creative, and insightful, while also overwhelmed by executive function demands, social pressure, sensory input, emotional intensity, or the crushing weight of expectations. You will want to bring your full attention to this episode, especially if you have been challenged by your child’s ability to do incredible things while simultaneously being unable some days to put their shoes on. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/IBWDIF7oSBc 💡 Check out Mark's website for more → http://www.centerforidentitypotential.com 🎧 Listen to Hopelessly Gifted, Mark's podcast → http://www.hopelesslygifted.com From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | The Sex Talk Your Teen Actually Needs | UnMuted Love Ep.96 | 08 Jun 2026 | 00:29:21
Let’s be honest. Most of us didn’t get a real sex talk. We got silence, shame, or fierce warnings that left us more confused and worried than confident. Some of us got a single condom for our wallets as though that were all there was to navigating this adolescent developmental terrain. Now we’re raising teens in a world where everything is earlier, louder, and harder to negotiate, especially for kids carrying attachment wounds and early adversity. In this episode, Ce interviews Rebecca Reber, who brings 24 years of walking alongside teen parents, about what teens wish they knew before their entire lives changed in pregnancy and early parenting. What they talk about will change how you think about “the talk.” By the way, it’s not just a talk after all. This isn’t exactly about sex. It’s about nervous systems, and the challenge of finding the experience of belonging. It’s about pressure, identity, and the anxious fear of not being lovable. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/d-eiWCOR8cI 💡 Check out Rebecca's website for more → https://www.rebeccareber.com From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | The "Arranged Marriage" of Parenting Children | UnMuted Love Ep.94 | 25 May 2026 | 00:45:35
In this episode of UnMuted Love, Ce explores with Abigail Wald of Mother Flipping Awesome about parenting strong-willed, highly sensitive, deeply reactive children—including children from difficult beginnings whose nervous systems do not respond well to traditional parenting advice. Together they really dive into what it takes to love a child who is strong willed and how to go about finding the right path. Ce and Abigail find solidarity in the grief they both felt as mothers of children whose stories were not Instagram material. Listen as they explore how some kids are not looking for more consequences, louder lectures, or tighter control. They are showing us, through their behavior, that their bodies are reading the world as unsafe. And when a child’s nervous system is on high alert, even ordinary limits, transitions, corrections, and requests can feel like full-body threats. Ce and Abigail share common experiences of how “nothing works” with some children—not because parents are failing, but because the tools being offered are not a good fit for the parent or the child. Find out what they settle on when discussing this question: Is it important to tease apart which behaviors are caused by neurodivergence or by trauma? Listen to their intimate mother-to-mother conversation about the tenacity of love. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/HNEAc8SiK7g 💡 Get Abigail's Mother Flipping Awesome FREE resources → https://abigailwald.com/quickstart From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | Siblings Carry More Than We Realize | UnMuted Love Ep.93 | 18 May 2026 | 00:34:02
“I’m so worried about my other kids. It isn’t fair that they have to live with all this chaos.” –Mother of three children, one with trauma from early childhood trauma In families raising a child from difficult beginnings, there is often another child or children in the room quietly learning how to disappear into the background or loudly trying to figure out how to get seen. They learn to wait. They learn to be “easy.” They learn to scan the emotional weather before asking for anything. They learn that their needs might be inconvenient. Sibling trauma begins right there. In this episode of UnMuted Love, Ce talks with Dr. Shannon Schedlich, Chief Executive of Siblings Australia, about the often-overlooked experience of brothers and sisters of children with disability and chronic illness, which includes children from difficult beginnings. Shannon brings a powerful blend of professional expertise, advocacy, research, and lived experience as both a leader in sibling support and the stepmother of an autistic daughter with high support needs. Together, they explore what happens when siblings are left unsupported: increased anxiety, depression, school disengagement, premature caregiving roles, resentment, guilt, loneliness, and the confusing pressure to be “fine” while the family system revolves around the child with the biggest needs. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/-SZslvG13qY 💡 Visit Siblings Australia's website for more resources → https://siblingsaustralia.org.au/ From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | Your Kid Turned 18... Now What? | UnMuted Love Ep.92 | 11 May 2026 | 00:13:42
When your child from difficult beginnings turns 18, the story doesn’t suddenly resolve—it often intensifies. In this episode of UnMuted Love, Ce Eshelman gets the ball rolling on talking about one of the most disorienting transitions in therapeutic parenting: when your young adult wants independence… and space from you. This is not traditional “empty nest” parenting. It is attachment, trauma, and nervous system wiring colliding with adulthood. How you respond in this season can either protect the relationship… or unintentionally push it further away. Join us for the beginning of thoughts on parenting your newly minted 18-year-old adult child from difficult beginnings. Know a parent quietly struggling with distance from their young adult? | Each Kid is a Unique Chapter | UnMuted Love Ep.91 | 04 May 2026 | 00:38:14
In this engaging episode of Unmuted Love, Bonnie Harris—author of When Your Kids Push Your Buttons and Confident Parents, Remarkable Kids—joins Ce Eshelman for a candid, therapist-informed conversation about parenting, triggers, and what really happens when our kids bring us to our knees. Bonnie shares her personal journey as both a parent and therapist—raising one “easy” child and one deeply strong-willed child who challenged everything she thought she knew about parenting. What unfolds is an honest look at how even the most informed, well-intentioned parents can feel completely undone—and why that’s not failure, it’s the work. Both Ce and Bonnie bring clarity, warmth, and lived wisdom to a truth many parents quietly carry: it doesn’t matter how much you know—each child writes a new chapter in your parenting story. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/Klpwp5cAlHA 📖 Listen to Bonnie's audiobooks → https://www.connectiveparenting.com/books-etc 💡 Schedule a session with Bonnie (includes free 30min consult) → https://calendly.com/bhsessions 🎧 Check out Bonnie’s legacy podcast, Tell Me About Your Kids—a one-of-a-kind show where listeners sit in on real, unscripted parent coaching sessions. | Kids Deserve to Understand Their Own Brains | UnMuted Love Ep.90 | 27 Apr 2026 | 00:45:07
What if one of the most powerful things we could give a child is a clear understanding of how their brain works? Too many neurodivergent kids grow up without understanding why attention is hard, why sensory overload happens, or why school sometimes feels exhausting. The pile-on is that they are often in trouble in school and at home, which leads them to think they are bad inside. Without an explanation, many children quietly assume the problem is them. In this episode of Unmuted Love, Ce Eshelman talks with educational psychologist and school neuropsychology specialist Dr. Liz (Angoff) about the science behind neurodivergent brains, and why kids deserve to be included in conversations about their own diagnoses. Dr. Liz is the author of Our Brains, a collaborative workbook designed to help parents and children talk openly about neurodivergence and brain differences. Because when kids understand their brains, the story they tell themselves begins to change—for the better. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/LLfeCUwuS3I 🎓 Managing Screen Time with Dr. Liz → https://explainingbrains.com/managing-screen-time-part1/ 💡 Check out Dr. Liz's website → www.ExplainingBrains.com/parents 📖 Buy Dr. Liz's book, Our Brains → https://www.amazon.com/Our-Brains-Empowering-Neurodivergent-Minds/dp/1735881031 From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? This isn’t really about behavior at all. It’s about neurobiology. You’ll learn why your child’s brain is wired for survival, not connection (yet), and what actually helps build safety, regulation, and trust over time. In this episode of UnMuted Love, Ce sits down with Mandy Jones-Fischer—Certified Theraplay® Practitioner, Trainer, and Supervisor—for a rich, grounded conversation about why play, attunement, and safe relational experiences are the missing links for so many children from difficult beginnings. Mandy brings decades of experience working almost exclusively with adoptive and foster families, along with her deep understanding of attachment, sensory integration, and early childhood mental health. This conversation is practical, hopeful, and grounding—especially if you’re parenting or treating a child whose behaviors don’t make sense unless you understand trauma. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/-3kcqRrEuFQ Mandy Jones-Fischer (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™, and former Executive Director of The Theraplay Institute. | ADHD & Rejection Sensitivity with Katelyn Mabry | UnMuted Love Ep.84 | 16 Mar 2026 | 00:36:19
Ce meets with Katelyn Mabry, ADHD coach and mom of four neurodivergent children, to talk about what’s really happening beneath the busyness and how to parent through the side door instead of the front. Parenting a busy brain is not for the faint of heart. If you are raising a child with ADHD, especially one with early trauma or attachment ruptures, you already know: this isn’t just “high energy.” It’s layered. It’s emotional. It’s often explosive. And it can be exhausting. | The Hopeful Brain with Dr. Jennifer Fraser | UnMuted Love Ep.83 | 09 Mar 2026 | 00:45:48
Your child isn’t “becoming a psychopath….” Their brain is doing exactly what injured brains do. In this episode, neuroscience researcher Dr. Jennifer Fraser, author of The Bullied Brain and The Gaslit Brain, and Ce talk about the thing parents are often too scared to say out loud: “It feels like I’m living with an abuser. What if this never changes? What if I’m raising someone dangerous to me and to others?” And then we do something better than panic: we talk about brains. We talk about neuroplasticity. We talk about hope, because there is a lot of hope. Dr. Fraser brings research. I bring the lived reality of parenting kids from difficult beginnings. Together we bring hope that isn’t puffy, fluffy. It’s neurobiological. Because here in Unmuted Love, we don’t discount brains. We train them. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/LMwgqiAzVaY 💡 Check out Dr. Fraser's website → https://bulliedbrain.com/ From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | How to Calm Tantrums | UnMuted Love Ep.80 | 16 Feb 2026 | 00:14:55
In this episode, Ce unpacks one of the most misunderstood moments in therapeutic parenting: the full-body meltdown. Not the “typical” tantrum. Not the “they’re just being dramatic” moment. We’re talking trauma-quake, that explosion that happens when a child from difficult beginnings feels unsafe at the level of their nervous system. Ce breaks down why logic always fails, why control always backfires, and what to do instead using her quick, powerful Love+ Pause Method, a 60-second co-regulation reset designed to help your child find their way back to safety with you, not despite you. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/suuZD2luftU 📗 Read this week's companion blog → https://www.lovemattersparenting.com/blog/how-to-calm-tantrums-with-the-love-plus-pause-method From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | Is Your Kid Entitled, or Just Dysregulated? | UnMuted Love Ep.76 | 19 Jan 2026 | 00:18:35
In this episode of UnMuted Love, Ce Eshelman, LMFT, pulls back the curtain on one of the most confusing parenting dilemmas—especially for parents of children from difficult beginnings. What looks like entitlement on the surface is often nervous system dysregulation underneath. Through a trauma-informed, neuroscience-based lens, Ce helps parents learn how to tell the difference between entitlement and dysregulation, why the behaviors can look identical, and how responding to the wrong root cause can make things worse instead of better. Nobody needs that. This episode offers practical next steps—without shame, blame, or parenting perfectionism. | The New Year Isn't A Fix-It Ticket | UnMuted Love Ep.73 | 29 Dec 2025 | 00:13:16
New Year’s advice is loud. Change everything. Fix yourself. Fix your kids. Try harder. Do more. But if you’re parenting a child from difficult beginnings, that messaging doesn’t inspire, does it? In this fundamental teaching episode, Ce Eshelman, LMFT, unpacks what Terry Levy’s concept of “experiential healing” really means for parents raising children from difficult beginnings. Drawing from neuroscience, attachment theory, and real stories from families in her practice, Ce supports parents in understanding how to rewire a child’s survival brain through safety, repetition, and relationship. If you’ve ever wondered how love actually heals trauma, this episode is your guide. You’ll learn what happens in your child’s limbic brain, how to become their secure base, and what small, daily actions actually rebuild trust and connection over time. ▶️ Watch the video version here → https://youtu.be/JrvF1U___2I ✨ The VIP Parent Program is discontinued, but you can still access all past handouts here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TWJkhPcZ7B8SP_zcPyaV_JeN_qnF_-y2HOEvra9EaPI/edit?usp=sharing 📗 Read the companion blog -- https://www.lovemattersparenting.com/blog/when-you-wonder-if-its-ever-going-to-get-better From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? In this Episode, Ce breaks open the truth about holiday stress for parents of children from difficult beginnings--those navigating trauma, adoption, foster care, neglect, abuse, and attachment wounds. While Target and Walmart sell sparkle and matching pajamas, the reality for trauma-impacted families is sensory overload, routine disruption, meltdowns, and extended relatives offering loud (and sometimes subtle) opinions about how you should be parenting. | When Behavior Looks Calculated, But Isn't | UnMuted Love Ep.67 | 17 Nov 2025 | 00:20:45
In this eye-opening episode, Ce shares what’s really happening when a trauma-impacted child’s behavior looks calculated, controlling, or manipulative. It’s not evil genius (or other automatic fears)—it’s learned survival logic. Using clear neuroscience, Ce explains how negative reinforcement wires the brain to seek relief from shame, fear, and powerlessness. You’ll learn why your child’s brain sometimes picks control over connection—and exactly how to teach it to choose love instead. “Control is safety for the child who’s never been safely controlled.” “When you stop allowing lying work, the brain stops investing in it.” “Relief rewires faster than reward.” --Ce Eshelman, LMFT ✨ The VIP Parent Program is discontinued, but you can still access all past handouts here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TWJkhPcZ7B8SP_zcPyaV_JeN_qnF_-y2HOEvra9EaPI/edit?usp=sharing → Read this week's companion blog -- https://www.lovemattersparenting.com/blog/when-it-looks-calculated-but-isnt From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | Breaking Cycles of Generational Trauma with Arleen Tyndall | UnMuted Love Ep.65 | 03 Nov 2025 | 00:36:22
In this deeply personal and luminous conversation, Ce interviews Arleen Tyndall who opens her heart about the journey from performing perfection to embracing her humanness. From the outside, Arleen’s life looked polished and put-together, but underneath, she was carrying the weight of generations of pain, silence, and emotional disconnection. Her awakening began in Bali, where she went to explore her ancestry and unexpectedly uncovered the buried stories of generational trauma that had been living inside her body and her family line. What she found there changed everything. Arleen shares how confronting her lineage of generational violence and emotional repression allowed her to return home to Vancouver, BC, no longer repeating old patterns, but instead, living in full awareness and self-compassion. Through this transformation, she found peace not in perfection, but in permission—to be fully, messily human. → Check out Arleen's website for free resources and more brilliant insights -- https://www.arleentyndall.com/gifts → Read The Perfectly Imperfect Family, the book Arleen co-authored -- https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0F6VJ5BHJ ✨ The VIP Parent Program is discontinued, but you can still access all past handouts here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TWJkhPcZ7B8SP_zcPyaV_JeN_qnF_-y2HOEvra9EaPI/edit?usp=sharing → Check out this week's companion blog for more -- https://www.lovemattersparenting.com/blog/arleen-tyndall-journey-to-freedom From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | Play is the Language of Children (Of All Ages) | UnMuted Love Ep.64 | 20 Oct 2025 | 00:26:28
In this episode, Ce Eshelman, LMFT, takes us on a heartfelt, humorous, and deeply healing journey through why play is the nervous system’s first language—and why adults need to learn it, too. Drawing on the wisdom of some of the great attachment thinkers and healers of our time--Dan Hughes, Bruce Perry, Dan Siegel, Kim Goulding, and Robyn Gobbel--Ce explores neuroscience, attachment wisdom, and personal honesty about play. She explores how play builds safety, attunement, and co-regulation, even for children (and parents) who didn’t grow up knowing how. Ce believes we can all break the generational silence of "Get out of my hair...go outside and play," by building fun, joyful, and playful relationships with our children. → Read the companion blog post: https://www.lovemattersparenting.com/blog/play-is-the-language-of-children From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | Breaking the Chain of Shame: From Our Parents, Through Us, To Our Children | UnMuted Love Ep.63 | 06 Oct 2025 | 00:15:46
Shame is sneaky. It hides in our nervous systems, whispers in our parenting ears, and if we’re not careful, it quietly (or not so quietly ) repeats from one generation to the next. In this episode of Unmuted Love, Ce shares some of her personal story about how shame gets passed down from our parents, through us, and into our kids from difficult beginnings—kids who are already extra-sensitive to shame. → Check out the companion blog post here -- https://www.lovemattersparenting.com/blog/shame-is-not-your-family-heirloom From Ce Eshelman: Are you searching for a community of parents who will get you; who offer an attentive ear and open arms in the worst of times; who give you a standing ovation for the monumentally big "small steps" forward you make with your child? | The 8th Sense Explains So Many Out-of-Nowhere Behaviors | UnMuted Love Ep.61 | 15 Sep 2025 | 00:18:21
You already know the five senses. Maybe even the sixth (proprioception) and seventh (vestibular). But what most parents never hear about until they’re tearing their hair out: the eighth sense—interoception. In this episode, Ce takes you through real-life examples of interoception struggles (yep, you’ll be nodding along), explains why kids from difficult beginnings struggle most, and why a good occupational therapist can be a game-changer. | When Your Child's Anger Feels Like A Personal Attack: Understanding Your Narcissistic Wounding | UnMuted Love Ep.60 | 08 Sep 2025 | 00:14:04
Does your child’s rage or rejection feel like it slices right through your chest? You’re not imagining it—it really does hurt. But often, that pain isn’t just about what’s happening in the moment. It’s an old wound—your wound—being reactivated. In this episode of Unmuted Love, Ce unpacks the sneaky way your child’s trauma behaviors can poke at your deepest places of shame, rejection, and unworthiness—what psychology calls narcissistic wounding. We’ll talk about:
You’ll walk away knowing how to spot your own “triggers” and how to step back into your compassionate self—even when it feels personal. Because here’s the truth: when you heal these old wounds, you don’t just change your story—you change your child’s story, too. | Lost Voices and the Magic of Attunement | UnMuted Love Ep.59 | 01 Sep 2025 | 00:15:17
In most cases, your child from difficult beginnings voice was silenced long before you ever met them. Their early cries for food, safety, and comfort went unanswered, wiring their nervous system to believe they were unwanted, unloved, and unimportant. Now, those silenced beginnings echo in your home—through endless chatter, meltdowns, shutdowns, or explosive behaviors—and through your own frustration, yelling, or even despair. But there is hope. In this episode, Ce pulls back the curtain on how trauma shapes a child’s “voice,” how it collides with your nervous system, and why the key to healing isn’t lectures or consequences, but repetitive, everyday attunement. With wit, compassion, and practical stories from the trenches, Ce shows you how to stop taking it all so personally and start creating micro-moments of healing connection.Your child may have lost their voice before you ever came into their life, but in your care, that voice can be reborn. Healing takes time, repetition, and your steady presence—not perfection. Love matters. ❤️ Share This Episode Know a parent who feels unseen in their parenting struggle? | Reactive Attachment Challenges in the Classroom | UnMuted Love Ep.58 | 18 Aug 2025 | 00:31:18
In this episode, presented at the Siskiyou County Office of Education Symposium in Weed, California, Ce gives a quick, brain-based “why” behind Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), better described as Complex Developmental Trauma, and how it plays out in real-life classroom dynamics. Teachers will want to listen to this. Children who have experienced early trauma don’t walk into the classroom with a clean slate—they carry the invisible weight of broken trust, disrupted attachment, and survival-mode nervous systems. When those early experiences hardwire the brain for protection rather than connection, the resulting behaviors can look defiant, manipulative, oppositional… or just plain exhausting to manage.
