Welcome to listen to the Uncertain Pathfinders (UP) podcast, where we ask listeners and guests to invite Uncertainty and unlock possibility. On this episode, co-hosts Jeffrey Schwab and Miranda Wang have the pleasure to talk and ruminate with Cory Brown. A “Michigan-born Cali boy,” Cory has since relocated to Taiwan in the past year to start a new journey as a community cultivator, college counselor, and curious creative. Cory also organizes meetings for Manifest Taipei, where participants gather to share areas where they are feeling challenged and connect on goals they want to manifest for their future. “Comedian” may be another “C” word in the string of alliteration that Cory identifies with, as he builds upon his previous improv experience in San Diego and continues to explore improv and sketch comedy in the Taipei community.
On this episode Cory shares more about his path and how a side-trip while visiting Korea inspired him to make the jump to Taiwan life. Learn more about his story as he continues to make efforts to become more integrated with the Taiwan community. A longtime supporter of UP’s “Books and Brews” book club, Cory is a deep thinker who cherishes and sees value in building lasting connections within the communities he is a part of.
Thank you for listening to this episode of the UP podcast. If you or anyone you know would like to share your story of Uncertainty with us, please feel free to reach out. In addition to podcasting, Uncertain Pathfinders hosts book clubs and online learning events, as well as career and life coaching, applied improv workshops for greater team collaboration, and workshops on nonviolent communication (NVC) for constructive conflict. Let’s continue to Invite Uncertainty and Unlock Possibility!
不確定的沉思(Uncertain Ruminations)
Join our two hosts Jeffrey and Miranda as they dive into the realm of Uncertainty with positive and experimental mindsets. Longtime friends in Taiwan, Jeffrey and Miranda are both co-founders of Taiwan's first fully bilingual (Chinese and Mandarin) improv performance group, Formosa Improv Group (FIG) 福爾摩沙即興組合. Due to their comfort with bilingualism, some of these episodes may be mostly English, mostly Chinese, or a mixture of both--it's all really up to Uncertainty.
Jeffrey is the Founder and Chief Possibility Officer 願景長 of Uncertain Pathfinders. Jeffrey left his previous position as Chief Learning Officer (CLO) to focus more on life coaching, applied improv facilitation, and Non Violent Communication (NVC) for constructive conflict. Miranda is a full time mother, as well as promoter and part-timer for Taiwan's Polyglot Community or Multilingual Cafe.
In this episode, these two hosts set the stage for the show as they introduce what Uncertainty means to them. Following the introduction, they both connect novelty and a "beginner's mindset" with Uncertainty and each share one experience they have with Uncertainty from their own pasts. In the end, we look to the future, and what opportunities we can see that Uncertainty brings us down the road. Looking forward to embracing Uncertainty together! 擁抱不確定性!

Welcome to our 3rd episode of the Uncertain Pathfinders, or the UP podcast. This is the podcast where we ask YOU to share your stories of Uncertainty as we unlock possibilities together. On this episode, our cohosts, Jeffrey Schwab and Miranda Wang are joined by Jasmine Ow, 胡鉫敏. Please read below for her introduction:
Originally from Malaysia, Jasmine moved to Taiwan at 19 to study Industrial Design at National Cheng Kung University. Before making that decision, she had a strong passion for dance and dreamed of pursuing it professionally. However, her family encouraged me to choose a more "practical" path. Despite that, her love for dance remains a significant part of her life.
During her studies, she realized she was more passionate about the artistic, experiential side of design than the technical aspects of product creation. This curiosity led her to explore XR technologies in her final year, where she combined her passions for dance and design to create her first project: Your Body is an Ocean. The interactive installation received encouraging feedback at Bangkok Design Week, affirming her belief in the power of blending technology and body movement.
That experience sparked a desire to address how people, especially in urban environments, often lose connection with their bodies. To tackle this, she founded SonicStride — a platform designed to help people reconnect with themselves through movement and music. You can check it out here: SonicStride. While the past 1.5 years have been filled with challenges and Uncertainty, her determination to encourage people to move their bodies remains unwavering.
Jasmine is also the logo designer for Uncertain Pathfinders! During the episode, she, Miranda, and Jeffrey discuss journeys with Uncertainty, what it means to balance entrepreneurship with our core values, and there's even a bit of Chinese poetry recited! 江雪 is the poem, written in the Tang Dynasty 唐代 by Liu Zongyuan 柳宗元。
