Despite starting at such a young age, Matt did not start training and competing year-round until he was 15 years old and he believes that focusing on other sports and hobbies when he was young only intensified his love for swimming as he got older. Daniel Krueger grew up in McFarland, Wisconsin where he quickly became one of the top age-group swimmers in the country. As a senior in high school Daniel was ranked as the #4 recruit in the class of 2018 and ultimately chose to take his talents to the University of Texas. Since starting at Texas in the fall of 2018 Daniel has become one of the top sprinters in the country, winning numerous Big XII Swimming Titles as well as being named All-American in multiple events. Currently Daniel is a Junior at the University of Texas and has his sights set on Olympic Trials 2021 where he hopes to perform well enough to qualify for his first Olympic team. Gary Hall Jr. is one of the greatest and most decorated sprinters in the history of the sport. After swimming one year at the University of Texas, Gary decided it was time to turn pro and train on his own. Brendan had an illustrious career at the University of Texas winning the 100 and 200 breaststrokes at NCAA's all four years of college, becoming the first swimmer to ever accomplish that feat. This week we are honored to welcome the first coach to the Ultimate Swimmer Podcast, Eddie Reese! Eddie Reese is the most decorated swim coach in history with 14 NCAA National Championship Team Titles. Eddie started his coaching career at Roswell High School in New Mexico. One year later he accepted an assistant coaching job with his alma mater at the University of Florida, where he spent six seasons before heading to Auburn where he was head coach for another six seasons. After Auburn, Eddie took the job at Texas and the rest is history. Eddie has been the head coach for the Texas Longhorns since 1978 and considered not only one of the greatest swim coaches ever, but one of the greatest coaches in any sport. Eddie’s leadership, positivity, and commitment to his athletes have allowed him to produce some of the world's fastest swimmers, including 39 Olympic Gold Medals! Ella was a multi-time NCAA Champion as a Stanford Cardinal from 2016-2019 and became the first woman to win the 400 IM at the NCAA Championships four years in a row. For her phenomenal performance at the 2018 NCAA Championships, Ella was named Female Swimmer of the Year.
