This week's episode kicks off with a tent pole song in the history of rock n roll. One of two such songs in this catalogue! When an awkward looking fella wearing a headband gets up and starts playing Chet Atkins style guitar in the era of punk and heavy metal, how in the green shit is that going to be received? Only four songs in this week's episode and it's the London quadrilogy. Will Kev be taken back to his time living in the English capital? Will Corey understand all these gibberish limey references?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and check out guitar George (he knows-all the chords).

Songs covered in this episode: "Sultans of Swing", "In the Gallery", "Wild West End", "Lions"

Dire Straits - Side A03 Sep 202401:29:44

What is a Knopfler? How does one Knopfle? Does one need any special equipment to do it? Are there any qualifications required??? Look, this is an avenue of inquiry that needs to be explored, but perhaps now is not the time. We're kicking off this season with plenty of guitar brililance and some low-key vocal performances. We're also getting a little shit-kicky and twangy here and there. Kev brought this band to the podcast, so he's ready to play the Strait man in this double-act, but will Corey be on board with a step back from the heavier stuff we've spent the last few months covering? Will he be wowed by the best-named drummer in rock history? Will he find nice things to say about John Illsley?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and quite your messing around.

Songs covered in this episode: "Down to the Waterline", "Water of Love", "Setting Me Up", "Six Blade Knife", "Southbound Again"

Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace - Side A02 Jul 202401:38:11

In Stranger Things, Jonathan Byers posits “You shouldn't like things because people tell you you're supposed to.” Well, I tend to agree, unless it’s your mom telling you you’re really gonna like this new song by the Foo Fighters that she’s been listening to…

This is the album that was Kev's introduction to the Foo Fighters and Corey only knows three songs from it. Is the balance of acoustic and rock going to work for the latter and is nostalgia going to rose-tint Kev's glasses on this one?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and get up to shut it down.

Songs covered in this episode: "The Pretender", "Let It Die", "Erase/Replace", "Long Road to Ruin", "Come Alive", "Stranger Things Have Happened"

If you want to see Kev's lockdown cover of "Long Road to Ruin" that he recorded with this wife's cousin, you can check that out here: https://youtu.be/_2kdfB-CMZA

In Your Honor - Side D25 Jun 202401:38:56

14th-century English philosopher and theologian William of Ockham’s famous philosophical razor advocates that when presented with competing hypotheses about the same prediction and both theories have equal explanatory power one should prefer the hypothesis that requires the fewest assumptions. But what hypothesis would Big Bad Bill have about why Kevin is so crap at our Ultimate Catalogue Clash side games? Hypotheses a) Kev’s throwing the game because he likes being the underdog, unlikely, he’s a competitive little toad and we’d have to assume he actually knows the answers, b) Corey is cheating, also unlikely as Corey is far too principled and decent a man to do that, and Kev can see him on the other side of the screen…  c) Corey just has a better mind for working these things out. As we can see from these three scenarios, Occam’s razor definitely guides us to the logical conclusion that Corey is cheating.

Will Corey find more variety and something to love on the second acoustic side and will Kevin close the gap in The Best Of You after trouncing Corey last week?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and high dive into your brain.

Songs covered in this episode: "Over and Out", "On the Mend", "Virginia Moon", "Cold Day in the Sun", "Razor"

In Your Honor - Side C18 Jun 202401:31:21

The late, great Audrey Hepburn once said “I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles. Especially when they’re included on rock n roll albums from the mid 2000s” Well Audrey, that’s an interesting perspective and we hope that we agree when we get to The Miracle on this side of In Your Honor. Will Corey be smitten with the first song that Dave ever wrote on acoustic guitar and will Kevin dig a complete change of pace from the raucus tracklist we've listened to so far?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, pin me down, and go another round.

Songs covered in this episode: "Still", "What If I Do?", "Miracle", "Another Round", "Friend of a Friend"

In Your Honor - Side B11 Jun 202401:40:17

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side B of In Your Honor. We're including the UK/Japan/Vinyl/iTunes bonus track for this episode, so we're not ending with End Over End. So, despite all our complaining about natural end points, we're blowing right on by this one, but hey, we saw the sign! It opened up .... Corey's already told me off for using that lyric so I won't repeat it. Will Kevin be a fan of blues and blacks? Will Corey extend his already almost unassailable lead in The Best Of You?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, pin me down, and show me how.

In Your Honor - Side A04 Jun 202401:28:44

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side A of In Your Honor. A double album? Two sides of charged up heavy rock and two sides of acoustic numbers? What the hell is this? A reverse Bob Dylan? Joking aside, this monumentally ambitious project could have been a disaster of epic proportions, but In Your Honor comes blistering out of the blocks with six songs that tear along at a breakneck pace. Will the frenetic energy of the title track cut the mustard for our heroes without capes? What will they think of a song simply titled "Hell"? And, most importantly, will Kev's fiendish picks for this week's Best of You segment finally bamboozle Corey and close the gap in the race to be come out on top in Season Three?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and get out of here alive.

Songs covered in this episode: "In Your Honor", "No Way Back", "Best of You", "DOA", "Hell", "The Last Song".

One By One - Side B28 May 202401:26:36

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side B of One By One. The writing and recording of this album was a train wreck and it's been largely disavowed by everyone involved in the years since, but then again, Dave Grohl once said that Learn to Fly was his least favourite song on an album that also contains Live-In Skin, so what the hell does that guy know? Will Brian May's presence on the opening track sway Kev over to a positive assessment? Will Overdrive be the fuel, be the fire, be that which Corey desires?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and keep from growing old.

Songs covered in this episode: "Tired of You", "Halo", "Lonely as You", "Overdrive", "Burn Away", "Come Back"

One By One - Side A21 May 202401:28:40

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side A of One By One. "Hey Dave, the opening track from the last album was a bit of a banger, I bet you can't write anything as strong to open this record..." "Hold my beer and bring me a FRESH POTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!" This week's album side explodes out of the gate and contains two of the biggest live tracks in the Foos catalogue. Could this one be Kev's highest-rated side in the Foos canon, and will Corey be on board with a song called "Disenchanted Lullaby"?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and learn to live again!

There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Side B14 May 202401:37:46

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side B of There is Nothing Left To Lose. You know what makes a good meal? A variety of flavours. A little sweet, a little savoury, perhaps a little sour, and dare we say, a little umami? Yes, we dare; "umami". We get into the weeds a little about sequencing and whether or not Dave's decision to move to a basement in Virginia impacted side two of the album more than side one. Coincidentally, we've covering the song Aurora in the aftermath of one of the biggest social media events, sorry, astronomical events, of recent years! But will Aurora make Corey's heart sing, and what will Kev think of the very late addition to the album based on a riff that Dave came up with during mixing?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and come home... next year!

Songs covered in this episode:

"Aurora", "Live-In Skin", "Next Year", "Headwires", "Ain't It the Life", "M.I.A."

There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Side A07 May 202401:40:03

Corey and Kevin are back to look at side one of There is Nothing Left To Lose. How to follow up a massive album like The Colour and the Shape? Well, you could hire the best hotshot producer in the world and head over to the best recording studio money can rent. Or maybe, just maybe, you could buy a house in Virginia and convert the basement into a studio and hang out with your two bandmates and create a much mellower record. On balance, we're pretty happy that Dave opted to peek behind door number two. Will Corey be on board with another song about Hollywood after covering the enigmatic Memory Remains last season? Will Kevin like the shouty, shouty approach of Dave's vocal in Breakout?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and cry when they all die blonde!

The Colour and the Shape - Side B30 Apr 202401:24:06

Corey and Kevin are back to look at side two of “The Colour and the Shape”, the record that established them as a band to pay attention to. We get another one of the giants of the Foos catalogue, possibly the biggest of them all. We talk about bouncing crowds, whether songs that sound like they belong on the debut album, and how long is long enough! Will Kevin give any song on this record a perfect score, and will Corey please explain to the dumb Brit what the hell “plating” is?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and pass the boats and the Kingdome!

Songs covered in this episode:

“Enough Space”, “February Stars”, “Everlong”, “Walking After You”, “New Way Home”

Introducing Dire Straits27 Aug 202400:53:50

All the late night bargains have been struck

Between the satin beaus and their belles

Prehistoric garbage trucks

Have the city to themselves

Year Two, Season Four. It's time to take side step from the heavier stuff and get into the colours and shapes that Mark Knopfler and the rest of Dire Straits bring to the musical landscape. Five albums in seven years and then a six year gap until their final record saw Dire Straits release some of the most iconic songs of the 80s. Is there a riff that defines that decade more than Money For Nothing? Is there a more instantly recognizeable keyboard intro than Walk of Life? Maybe a little 1984 synth intro from a band Corey knows well, but besides that, probably not! Will Kev go under a 5 on the Haskin Scale for any song in this catalogue? Will Corey's ear bend to the finger-picking style of the band's unlikely headband-sporting frontman?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and get your chicks for free.

The Colour and the Shape - Side A23 Apr 202401:46:38

Corey and Kevin are back to look at side one of the Foo Fighters breakout 1997 album, “The Colour and the Shape”! In comes Nate Mendel and Pat Smear, out go all the cows! Although there is a dearth of bovine activity, there are monkeys, dolls, and manimals! So there’s that to look forward to! What will Kevin make of the sequencing of this album and will Corey have enough fresh pots to get him through this eight song marathon?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and return to sender!

Songs covered in this episode:

"Doll", "Monkey Wrench", "Hey, Johnny Park!", "My Poor Brain", "Wind Up", "Up in Arms", "My Hero", "See You"

Foo Fighters - Side B16 Apr 202401:17:21

Corey and Kevin are back to look at side two of the debut Foo Fighters album featuring a Whole Lotta Grohl! After an uninspiring start to the season, Corey is starting to worry about what the rest of the season might hold on the albums he’s less familiar with. Kevin is much more concerned about the state of his moat but that just shows how focussed he is on the show! Will the boys be more ecstatic about side two than they were side one? Will the Haskin Scale become an international unit of measurement of song rankings? And what exactly is a Weenie Beanie?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and blow it now for all the cows!

Songs covered in this episode:

Foo Fighters - Side A09 Apr 202401:24:12

Corey and Kevin are back to kick off Season Three proper by looking that songs on side one of the Foo Fighters’ self-titled debut, which features Dave Grohl on… well, everything! We’re talkin’ mentos, we’re talking production, and we’re definitely talking lyrics. Is Dave good enough to carry an entire record on his own? Will he, they, she, we float away?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and get around it!

Songs covered in this episode:

Introducing the Foo Fighters (Season Three)02 Apr 202401:04:14

Corey and Kevin are back to set up season three of the Ultimate Catalogue Clash, which covers eight albums which cover the first twenty years of the Foo Fighters. The boys talk about why the first twenty years was chosen, songs and albums they already know, live gigs, music videos and chart performance! What kind of game are the boys going to play in the aftermath of Kevin’s dismal performance in the Four Horseman contest last season? How much will Corey know about this band and will he have the stamina to take on eight records again?

Season 2 Finale - Part 2 (with Scott Haskin)26 Mar 202401:31:11

Corey and Kevin go head to head in a little bit of Metallica trivia, the boys lay out their top tens from this season and also reveal their respective Megaloads (it’s not nearly as dirty as it sounds!) How many songs from Reload will make it onto the boys’ lists? How many songs will appear on both? Will Corey insist on the price is right rule when it comes to deciding who we’ll cover on season three and will the tie breaker come into play?

Season 2 Finale - Part 1 (with Scott Haskin)26 Mar 202401:02:53

The sexiest man in podcasting is back with us to talk all things 90s Metallica. We dig into the things we’ve learned over the past thirteen episodes, which tracks we loved, which we didn’t, whether the Black Album is truly a 10/10 front to back, whether Load and Reload are a product of or a reaction to the success of the Black Album, and we finally address modern art in all its bloody, seminal, urinary glory. We also find out who wins the Four Horsemen contest that the boys began at the start of the season!

Will Scott be on board with Metallica going country? Will Corey finally admit that Carpe Diem Baby is a killer song, and will Kevin finally let up with all the Lars bashing? All three seem unlikely.

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, Load, Reload, and Black out!

Garage Inc. and S&M19 Mar 202401:35:24

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water, Corey and Kevin are back with a surprise bonus episode that no-one asked for! We figured this season wouldn’t be truly complete without taking a look at (some of) 1998’s Garage Inc. and (most of) 1999’s S&M. Kevin is a huge Michael Kamen fan, but will strings and steel work for him? Will Corey risk Kevin’s ire by championing a Queen cover? And what will both chaps make of Metallica covering Bob Seger?!

Reload Side D13 Mar 202401:14:03

Corey and Kevin are back to finish up Metallica’s original studio material from the 90s! It’s time for Side D of Reload. Now, we’re not saying that a hurdy gurdy is a funny word and we’re not saying that it doesn’t belong on a Metallica record. But we’re not saying it isn’t and we’re not saying it does. Or are we? Will Kevin love a medieval madrigal and will Corey argue that Fixxxer is the greatest song Metallica recorded since Attitude?

Corey and Kevin are back to continue their deep dive into 90’s Metallica, covering Side C of “Reoad”. The boys were split on last week’s songs and are heading into the tail end of this season. Will they have enough stamina to get over the line? Will the wild things get them? Will they be charmed by a non-democratically monarch? Or will they choke on a bad seed?

Corey and Kevin are back to cover Side B of 1997’s “Reoad” as they continue their deep dive into 90’s Metallica. The first side had some challenges for both Corey and Kev, but there was a catalogue highlight for Corey too. How will Side B of Load stack up against the rest of the Metallica catalogue? Is Metallica running out of steam this way or are they still better than you?

Skin and Bones (with Mark Camire)20 Aug 202401:08:50

“The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones.” - Thus spake the Bard, William Shakespeare, but I wouldn’t pay too much attention to old Bill, he couldn’t even spell his own name properly, so quite why we should listen to any of his opinions about Foo Fighters’ 2006 Live album Skin and Bones is quite beyond me! For this final, bonus, episode in Season Three, we're joined by the one and only Mark Camire, Corey's co-host on his flagship show; And The Podcast Will Rock! We get into Mark's background with the Foos and plenty of depth about the performances on Skin and Bones. Should the show open with Razor? Are there any songs missing? Do all the electric songs work as acoustic numbers? And will Corey finally come around to Friend of a Friend?

Reload Side A20 Feb 202401:42:33
Reload - Side One

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about the last album in our dive into 90s-era Metallica. It’s time to Reload. Is this collection of songs nothing more than the offcuts and discarded ends of songs that weren’t good enough for Load? Is Unforgiven II a masterpiece or the worst-conceived sequel since Zoolander 2? What will Kevin think of 60s songstress Marianne Faithfull’s contribution to the album? Does Corey need fuel, does he need fire, does he need that which he desires?

Load Side D13 Feb 202401:32:01

Corey and Kevin are back to finish up Metallica’s first album in five years; “Load” as they continue their deep dive into 90’s Metallica. It’s been a long one folks. Eleven songs already and three left to go, including the longest song on the album. Thanks for sticking with us even if you didn’t stick with Metallica as they strayed from their thrash metal roots. Quite a long way in some cases! Corey is a big fan of the S&M version of “The Outlaw Torn”, but what will he think of the album version? Kevin loves him some low slung dirty Texas blues rock, but will “Ronnie” hit the mark for him?

Load Side C06 Feb 202401:12:53

Corey and Kevin are back to continue their deep dive into 90’s Metallica, covering Side C of “Load”, the follow up to the gigantic Black Album. Kevin really wasn’t keen on the hero song but what will he make of Metallica dipping their toes into Bluesy waters? Will Corey be on board with trying to headbang to the country stylings of Mama Said or will it send him into a tailspin?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and waste your hate!

Load Side B30 Jan 202401:07:24

Corey and Kevin are back to cover Side B of 1996’s “Load” as they continue their deep dive into 90’s Metallica. The boys weren’t universally in love with Side A and the next three songs contain two singles and a doomy 8 minute dirge. Will the poppier stylings of Hero of the Day work for Kevin and is Corey a Black Sabbath fan who is going to be turned on (musically, you sickos!) by the oppressive weight of Bleeding Me.

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and dig your way to something better!

Load Side A23 Jan 202401:48:43

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about the next album in our dive into 90s-era Metallica. That’s right, we’re talking about Load; the 79 minute marathon of grunge, blues, hard rock, and a very small sprinkling of heavy metal. What will Kevin think of the opening track-ah and is Metallica treading into Soundgarden’s backyard going to float Corey’s boat on Side One?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and hold me!

Songs covered in this episode:

"Ain’t My Bitch", "2 X 4", "The House Jack Built", “Until It Sleeps”

Metallica Side D16 Jan 202401:55:38

Corey and Kevin wrap up the biggest-selling album in Metallica’s career. Yep, it’s Side D of “The Black Album” today folks!.

It’s the first side of the album without a recognizable banger but will Corey continue to find gold in James’s lyrics? Will Kevin be panning for pyrite in Lars’s rhythmic stylings? Will God fail? And how will the boys sum up the Black Album and what will its final rating be???

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and find your piece!

Metallica Side C09 Jan 202401:20:36

Corey and Kevin are back to cover Side C of “The Black Album” as they continue their deep dive into 90’s Metallica.

We’re getting a big one on this side; Metallica’s highest-selling non-live single in Switzerland no less! We also talk about James’s lycanthropic ditty and the concept concert movie released in 2013 titled after a song on this side of the album. Will Corey like werewolves and monsters, what will Kevin think of a Metallica ballad?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and forever trust who we are!

Metallica Side B02 Jan 202401:30:12

Corey and Kevin are back to cover Side B of “The Black Album” as they continue their deep dive into 90’s Metallica. Kevin is coming around to James Hetfield as a lyricist but what will he think of two six-plus minute songs? Will Corey be as hot on this side of the album as he was on side B and what will the consensus be on the second side of an album that went 16 times platinum in the US alone!

Metallica Side A26 Dec 202301:41:29

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about 90s-era Metallica. Corey loves the black album. Kevin is coming in very much thinking he doesn’t. Will he be able to get past James Hetfield’s vocal delivery styla-ah! Will he find something he likes in Kirk or Jason’s playing. Is he even going to mention the percussionist in the band and will Corey bring it up?

Season 3 Finale (with Scott Haskin)13 Aug 202402:01:42

The late great Stephen Hawking once said “I believe alien life is quite common in the universe, although intelligent life is less so. Some say it has yet to appear on planet Earth.” Well Steve, some say that it’s yet to appear on this podcast, but tonight, we have a third party who might bring the intelligence quotient up. We're joined once again by our good pal; author, songwriter, musician, and podcaster extraordinaire, Scott K Haskin! Scott was listening to the Foo Fighters for the very first time and we're not really sure we've converted him! We dig into our thoughts about the catalogue, we have some excellent trivia courtesy of the wonderful Adam Janis, and we discover which artist we'll be covering on Season Four of the Ultimate Catalogue clash! Who will it be?

We Can't Dance Side D05 Dec 202301:15:58

Corey and Kevin are back to wrap up the last record Phil Collins made with Genesis, “We Can’t Dance”. There's weak, ooh and there's strong… songs on this side of this album. The last side of the album features lyrics written by each of the members of the trio including one about Eric Clapton! Will Kevin appreciate the blue sky and the red sky? Will the lights fade for Corey or burn brightly as the album closes? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and… remember!

Songs covered in this episode: "Way of the World", "Since I Lost You", "Fading Lights"

We Can't Dance Side C28 Nov 202300:54:48
Corey and Kevin are back to talk about the third side from the last album in the Phil Collins era of Genesis; 1991’s, We Can’t Dance. If Randy Woods were to title this episode, he’d probably call it “Two Collins and one Banks” or possibly, “why are you asking me to title episodes of a podcast I don’t appear in?” Fair enough Randy, fair enough! Side C sees rock stars complaining about war, fad diets, and Phil beseeching some to grasp his left and right ventricles. But will this hodge podge of disparate topics work for our intrepid duo? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and live forever!Songs covered in this episode: "Tell Me Why", "Living Forever", "Hold on My Heart"Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashTwitter: https://twitter.com/UCatalogueClash

We Can't Dance Side B21 Nov 202301:10:29

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about side two of We Can’t Dance. We get into some pretty heavy conversation about car crashes and their aftermath in this episode, so if you’re sensitive to this subject please skip to 55:23. What will our intrepid duo think of the pops and whizzes of I Can’t Dance? Will there ever be a time to release six singles from one album? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and sell everything!

We Can't Dance Side A14 Nov 202301:16:12
Corey and Kevin are back to start the last album in the Phil Collins era of Genesis; 1991’s, We Can’t Dance As this is a double vinyl record, we’re breaking it up into four episodes. Side on starts out with two singles before concluding with the only “long song” that Phil Collins wrote lyrically. We’re heading back to real drums, we’re talking about God, and we’re going to have a damn good time doing it! But will Corey dig an epic tale of navigational engineers? Will Kev like the metronomic into to the opening song? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and drive the last spike!Songs covered in this episode: "No Son of Mine", "Jesus He Knows Me", "Driving the Last Spike"Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashTwitter: https://twitter.com/UCatalogueClash

Invisible Touch Side B07 Nov 202301:31:45

Invisible Touch - Side Two

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about side two of blockbuster seventh album of the Phil Collins era, Invisible Touch. Discussions about Benny Hill, an almost eleven minute two song suite, and a bikini wax are just some of the things you have to look forward to, but will Corey rank side two as highly as side one and what will Kev have to say about the last Genesis instrumental? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and throw it all away!

Invisible Touch Side A31 Oct 202301:21:15
Corey and Kevin are back to talk about side one of the gigantic 1986 hit, Invisible Touch. The band embarked on an equally gigantic tour on the back of the album which culminated with four shows at the iconic Wembley Stadium. We’re talking drums machines, we’re talking synths, we’re talking pop hits and puppets! Will Corey be underwhelmed by Tonight, Tonight, Tonight and what will Kev have to say about Phil’s drum sound? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and embrace the confusion! Genesis Side B24 Oct 202301:28:32
Genesis - Side TwoCorey and Kevin are back to talk about side two of the Genesis, Genesis. So good they named it twice? Is there a problem with Illegal Alien? Is it gonna get better? And if so, what does it start with? Is side two going to live up to side one’s standards and if not, why not? Maybe the assassin can tell us, but the only real way to find out is to turn on, tune in, chicken out! Genesis Side A17 Oct 202301:37:26

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about side one of the band’s eponymous triumph; Genesis. Whoever would have thought that using the word Mama in a song would work? Well, Phil Collins was unconvinced in 1978, but by 1983 had come around 180 degrees and wrote an entire song around the word. What will Corey think of the eleven plus minute Home By The Sea suite? Will Kevin complain about the use of a drum machine on the opening track? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and that’s all!

Abacab Side B10 Oct 202301:18:45

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about side two of Abacab. We have to talk about “that song” don’t we? Also, Corey finds out that Siri is no friend of Kevin’s, or maybe Kevin’s ridiculous accent is just getting in the way! Will Corey ballyhoo one of the worst songs ever recorded, by anyone, ever, and will Kevin lick any dildos (this will make sense if you listen to the episode, honestly)? Sonic Highways - Side B06 Aug 202401:33:19

The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus once ruminated that "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man." Also, no Foo Fighter ever steps foot in the same studio twice during the making of their eighth studio album, Sonic Highways, for they are not in the same city and it is not the same song! This week we're off to Joshua Tree, New Orleans, Seattle, and New York. We're definitely gonna rack up the air miles, but will the final song of this season resonate with Kev, and what will Corey think of Joe Walsh turning up in a Foo Fighters' song?

The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and get outside.

Abacab Side A03 Oct 202301:12:44

Abacab - Side One

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about side one of 1981’s Verse, Chorus, Verse, Bridge, Verse Chorus, Abacab. The band were booed by the prog rock faithful on the subsequent tour but it was a step closer to the commercial success they would enjoy throughout the rest of their career. Will Kev be on board with this new direction and will Corey appreciate the lone Tony Banks-penned track on the album? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and chicken out!

Duke Side B26 Sep 202301:26:41
Duke - Side TwoCorey and Kevin are back to talk about side two of 1980’s Genesis’ last true progressive rock album, Duke. The trio blaze into the top ten with the side two opener, Turn It On Again, before ending with the epic 11 minute Duke’s Travels / Duke’s End piece. Will Corey be curious about the fractured Duke suite? Is Kev going to start sulking now that the prog odyssey is pretty much over? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and chill out! Duke Side A19 Sep 202301:18:40

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about side one of 1980’s Duke, the last album to  be co-produced by David Hentschel and an abandoned attempt at a prog concept album. How will Kev react to the turn toward more pop-based fare on side one? What will Corey think of the original version of Behind The Lines? How would In The Air Tonight have turned out if it had ended up on the album? Some of these questions might be answered and the only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and zone out!

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about side two of …And Then There Were Three… A first top ten hit for the band, the first album of the Collins era to feature six songs, and a whole lotta Tony Banks. But what does it all mean? Where will the album land compared to the two we’ve already covered? Will Corey finally break free of the prog days? Are all his fears are drifting by him so slowly now, fading away? What will Kevin think of the shorter Genesis songs? There’s only one way to find out and that’s to turn on, tune in, and chill out!
