LO: To know Dads at Parents Evening can be the ultimate ick!21 oct. 202600:55:12
Lee and Adam are back for Episode 264, Season 10 Episode 7, with the October half term getting ever closer and the next run of the Let That Be A Lesson live tour just around the corner. After a quick update on the upcoming shows, the pair catch up on what's been happening over the past week, including Adam's birthday celebrations and a memorable trip to London. The conversation turns to birthdays, getting older and how differently we celebrate as adults. Adam reflects on how birthdays change once you've got children of your own, before sharing some highlights from his recent celebrations. Naturally, Lee isn't about to let him get away without a bit of brotherly banter. This week's big listener thread is all about the stingiest people you've ever encountered. Lee and Adam work through a collection of stories about people taking saving money to extraordinary lengths, debating where the line sits between being sensible with your money and being downright tight. There's also a discussion about the value of time, everyday spending habits and whether some people take being frugal just a little too far. With Halloween approaching, Lee and Adam also get into a debate about how much the occasion has changed over the years. From childhood memories to the increasingly elaborate celebrations we see today, the pair discuss whether Halloween has become too commercialised and why some people embrace it while others would happily give the whole thing a miss. Then it's back to school for another collection of unforgettable parents' evening stories and EYFS home visits. Teachers and school staff share the awkward conversations, unexpected encounters, unusual requests and situations that nobody could possibly prepare you for. As always, Lee and Adam are left wondering how some of these things actually happen in real life. Finally, the relationship icks make a welcome return after proving such a popular topic in previous episodes. Adam has another selection of submissions for Lee to judge, as they debate which behaviours are genuine dealbreakers and which are simply harmless quirks. It's another brilliantly ridiculous conversation that proves sometimes the smallest things can give someone the biggest ick. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To be prepared for the unexpected when doing home visits13 oct. 202600:56:54
Lee and Adam are back for Episode 263, Season 10 Episode 6, and this week they have finally made it to a professional space. The pair are recording in the Manchester Podcast Studio courtesy of the team at TeachMate, taking in the proper setup after eight years of podcasting. With the Let That Be A Lesson tour's October run getting ever closer, excitement is also building for the upcoming live show in London on the 26th. The conversation kicks off with a look at Artificial Intelligence in the school community. While Lee and Adam discuss how platforms like TeachMate are helping ease teacher workloads, they have plenty of laughs about the less successful uses of AI. Adam then puts Lee through the blind ranking challenge, attempting to order the absolute worst things a teacher can hear at the end of the school day. The dread of forgotten twilight staff meetings, late child pickups, unexpected requests from SLT, and the terrifying "we've had the call" for an Ofsted inspection all go head-to-head as Lee tries to decide what truly deserves the number one spot. The pair also dive into a hilarious discussion about the most insane and easily disprovable lies people have ever told with complete confidence. From primary school children claiming they invented Facebook or Pokémon, to adults trying to pass off their mates' celebrity encounters as their own, listeners share brilliant stories of people doubling down on the most ridiculous fibs. Finally, it's time for a brilliant collection of EYFS home visit stories from Early Years staff. Lee and Adam work their way through the awkward living room setups, aggressive pets, fully inflated adult dolls, and the completely surreal offer of some homemade breastmilk scones that prove home visits can be one of the most unpredictable parts of the job. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To Know Parents Evening Is Not A Boxing Ring01 oct. 202601:09:49
Lee and Adam are back for Episode 262, Season 10 Episode 5, and this week they're recording virtually for the first time this series. Lee checks in from a Premier Inn in Grimsby, there's a look back at the podcast's lockdown recording days, and the pair give an update on the upcoming Let That Be A Lesson live shows as the October run gets ever closer. The nostalgia levels are high this week as Lee and Adam take a trip back to the glory days of the British nightclub. With the UK's nightlife scene changing dramatically, they reminisce about the sticky floors, cheap drinks, questionable venues and legendary local clubs that provided a rite of passage for anyone growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. Adam then puts Lee through a slightly different challenge as they attempt to decide which everyday behaviours are the most annoying. Bad manners, a complete lack of self awareness, irritating public habits and those little things people do that instantly wind you up all go head to head as Lee tries to decide what really takes the biscuit. The conversation inevitably leads to the types of people and behaviours that drive Lee and Adam mad, including those who always have to go one better, people who dominate every conversation and the importance of sometimes being able to simply admit that you don't know something. As always, a few personal grievances manage to find their way into the discussion too. Finally, it's time for a brilliant collection of parents' evening stories from teachers and school staff. Lee and Adam work their way through the awkward conversations, unusual requests, unexpected encounters and completely surreal situations that prove parents' evening can be one of the most unpredictable nights in the school calendar. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To Never Leave Any Gerbil Behind When A Science Investigation Goes South24 sept. 202601:01:06
Lee and Adam are back for Episode 261, Season 10 Episode 4, as the countdown to the October half term and the next run of live shows continues. After a quick tour update, they get straight into this week's blind ranking as Adam attempts to rank some of the nation's favourite crisp brands without knowing what's coming next. The conversation then takes an unexpected turn into food, health and some of the habits Lee has been trying to change recently. There's also time for Lee and Adam to answer some listener questions, covering everything from football and teaching abroad to career choices, classroom superpowers and the advice they've been very happy to ignore. This week's big listener thread is all about those painfully embarrassing moments that never quite leave you. Lee and Adam work their way through a brilliant collection of awkward encounters, misunderstandings, public disasters and moments that still make people cringe years after they happened. Then it's back into the classroom for some of the funniest and most unexpected things teachers have witnessed while working in schools. As ever, the stories prove that children have an incredible ability to say or do something completely unexpected at exactly the right, or wrong, moment. The second half of the episode is dedicated to ultimate teaching fails, with listeners sharing those occasions when lessons, trips, observations and everyday school life have gone spectacularly off plan. Lee and Adam discuss the moments where teachers have had to think on their feet, recover from disaster and somehow carry on as though everything is completely under control. Finally, the teaching fails continue with some truly unforgettable moments from across the profession. From the pressures of parents' evenings and inspections to classroom mishaps and unfortunate slips of the tongue, it's another reminder that however carefully you plan your day in school, there's always something waiting to completely derail it. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To Know You Don't Have To Eat A Whole Packet Of Bacon19 sept. 202601:02:37
Lee and Adam are back for Episode 260, Season 10 Episode 3, with another hour of teacher stories, questionable conversations and absolute chaos. They kick things off with a reminder about the next leg of the Let That Be A Lesson live tour before discussing why teenagers seem to find absolutely everything cringe and whether growing up in a world where every embarrassing moment can be filmed has made young people more afraid of putting themselves out there. This week's blind ranking puts Adam through eight painfully awkward everyday situations. From waving back at someone who wasn't actually waving at you and going in for a hug when they offer a handshake, to accidentally liking a seven year old Instagram post and farting in a completely silent room, the pair decide which moments would make them want the ground to swallow them up. The relationship "icks" are back after last week's discussion went down a storm, and somehow they've got even more ridiculous. Things then turn to the strangest lunches people have ever witnessed their colleagues eating at work. Naturally, this also leads Lee and Adam into a detailed discussion about their own questionable eating habits and the unwritten rules about what foods are acceptable at different times of day. Teacher tired returns with yet more evidence that working in education can completely scramble your brain. That's before the episode moves into some brilliantly awkward school moments involving Ofsted, parents' evening, unfortunate typos and children saying exactly what they shouldn't at exactly the wrong moment. Finally, Lee and Adam finish with another collection of stories that perfectly capture why working in schools is unlike any other job. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? We sit down with the director of Bad Apples, the dark comedy starring Saoirse Ronan, to talk classroom chaos, good intentions and some very bad decisions. From working with Saoirse and a lively cast of young actors to Ofsted pressures and the vital role of support staff, they explore the real school experiences behind the film’s outrageous premise, and ask what it would take to make education work for every child. LO: To Know Whether The Birth Rate Crisis Is Down To People's Crazy Icks09 sept. 202601:08:42
Lee and Adam are back for Episode 259, Season 10 Episode 2, as everyone settles into the first full week of the new academic year. They kick things off by reflecting on their special screening of Bad Apples in Manchester, where more than 70 teachers and school staff joined them for the film, popcorn and a post screening Q&A. Lee also shares his rather surreal trip to Twickenham, where he found himself putting Prem rugby players through their paces with some school themed questions. The pair then dive into some of the worst INSET and staff training stories ever sent into the podcast. Lee and Adam ask what actually makes CPD useful and why so much wellbeing training completely misses the point. This week's blind ranking throws Lee and Adam straight back into the playgrounds of the 1990s. There are also some absolutely brutal pupil burns and one of the more questionable classroom Google searches we've ever heard. The conversation then turns to relationship "icks" and the best advice teachers have ever received, the pair share genuinely useful teacher tips around relationships, workload, work life balance, behaviour and some simple classroom hacks that might actually make the year a little easier. Finally, the first full week back appears to have already taken its toll as listeners share their finest examples of "teacher tired". The episode finishes on a much more wholesome note with a brilliant story about a teacher helping a nervous pupil find her confidence, reminding us all why those special teacher moments make the chaos worthwhile. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To wonder whether teachers will add a gas station to their classroom03 sept. 202600:55:30
Season 10 is here! Lee and Adam are back for Episode 258 with a special back to school episode, recorded for the first time from Podcast Studios Manchester - podcaststudiomanchester.uk. After catching up on their summers, the pair are ready to help everyone face the start of another school year with plenty of laughs, questionable stories and the usual teacher chaos. First up, Lee and Adam discover possibly the most ridiculous classroom idea yet: a designated farting area known as the "Gas Station". They debate whether any teacher would be brave enough to introduce one, how quickly pupils would turn it into a competition and whether it is only a matter of time before Ofsted starts inspecting schools' fart corners. The first blind ranking of Season 10 is all about those little things that come with going back to school in September. From seeing your teacher bestie and catching up on the summer gossip to fresh whiteboard pens, new exercise books, meeting new staff and that all important free lunch on INSET day, Lee has to decide what really makes the return to school worthwhile. There are plenty more back to school confessions and memories, including the niche things teachers love and hate about September, questionable INSET days and the playground rumours everyone somehow believed growing up. Lee and Adam also get onto teachers spending their own money on classroom supplies, the joy of getting back into a routine and all those strange little things that signal the start of another academic year. Things then take a surprisingly wholesome turn as Lee and Adam share some incredible "full circle" moments sent in by teachers. From former pupils becoming teachers themselves to ex students returning years later to thank the person who believed in them, the stories are a brilliant reminder that teachers often have no idea just how much of an impact they are having at the time. Some of these genuinely hit Lee and Adam right in the feels. And, of course, it wouldn't be Two Mr Ps in a Podcast without finishing with an absolute teaching disaster. One NQT feels so guilty about not marking a pupil's book that, rather than simply admitting it, she turns off the classroom lights and hides underneath her desk. Unfortunately, the pupil comes looking for her, discovers her hiding place and forces her to come up with one of the most ridiculous excuses imaginable. Teacher Burnout: What Needs to Change?27 août 202601:02:50
This week, Lee and Adam are joined by Charlie Burley, better known as the Teachers Health Coach, for an honest and practical conversation about teacher wellbeing, burnout and what schools can do to better support their staff. Charlie shares the personal story that led him from primary teaching into coaching, following his own experience of chronic stress, anxiety and a panic attack in the classroom. The discussion explores why wellbeing has become such a major issue across education, looking at the biggest contributing factors including workload, increasing pupil needs, funding pressures, parental expectations and the growing demands placed on schools. Charlie also shares the latest findings from his wellbeing white paper and explains why, despite small signs of progress, there is still a long way to go. Lee and Charlie debate why many school wellbeing initiatives miss the mark, discussing everything from compulsory team-building activities to token gestures such as cakes and "hug in a mug" style initiatives. Instead, they argue that meaningful wellbeing comes from long term cultural change rather than one off events or tick box exercises. Charlie introduces his practical "Six Cs" framework for improving wellbeing in schools, covering connection, care, capacity, clarity, competency and contribution. They discuss how school leaders can make realistic improvements even within the constraints of funding, staffing and accountability, while also recognising that creating a healthy culture is everyone's responsibility. The conversation also tackles Ofsted, accountability and the wider education system. Lee and Charlie discuss whether the current inspection model is fundamentally damaging staff wellbeing, why so much teacher workload feels disconnected from improving learning, and what lessons England could learn from education systems around the world. Finally, Charlie shares practical advice for teachers looking after their own wellbeing outside school. From rebuilding an identity beyond teaching and setting healthier boundaries, to managing social media, slowing down in everyday life and making time for hobbies again, this episode is packed with realistic, actionable ideas for anyone working in education. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? Daniel Kebede - General Secretary of the National Education Union01 août 202601:14:57
*This week, Lee is joined by Daniel Kebede, General Secretary of the National Education Union, for a wide ranging and honest conversation about the biggest challenges facing education today.* They discuss why every teacher and support staff member should be in a union, the benefits that go far beyond workplace protection, and Daniel shares his own journey from primary teacher and PRU maths teacher to leading Europe's largest education union. *The conversation tackles the growing funding crisis in schools*, with Daniel explaining why partially funded pay rises are leaving schools facing impossible choices. They debate teacher and support staff pay, redundancies, falling pupil numbers, class sizes and why investment in education should be viewed as an investment in the country's future rather than a cost. *Lee and Daniel also take a deep dive into Ofsted*, discussing why so many teachers have lost confidence in the inspection system. They explore the impact inspections have on workload, wellbeing and school culture, why reform has failed to win over the profession and what a more supportive accountability system could look like. *The pair reflect on the first year of the Labour government*, discussing Bridget Phillipson's time as Education Secretary, whether teachers have seen the change they hoped for, and why there remains a growing disconnect between government messaging and the reality experienced by staff working in schools every day. *Behaviour, SEND and teacher workload are all firmly under the spotlight.* Lee and Daniel share their views on the causes of worsening behaviour, the impact of social media, unmet needs, SEND funding, curriculum pressures and why improving teacher retention starts with making the profession manageable again. *Finally, Daniel outlines his vision for the future of education*, including smaller class sizes, better funding, greater professional autonomy, more creativity in the curriculum and a profession that once again feels valued. He also explains why union reps remain at the heart of improving schools and encourages more teachers and support staff to get involved in shaping the future of education. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To know what happens on the staff night out, stays on the night out unless you’re sharing it anonymously on the pod!23 juil. 202601:18:19
This week, the lads wrap up the final full episode of the school year by reflecting on another academic year in education, thanking listeners for their support and debating the annual calls to shorten the six week summer holidays. They discuss why children and staff desperately need the break, the pressures on working parents and why better holiday provision, rather than less time off, is the real answer. There's a passionate discussion about Ofsted after schools are still being inspected during the final week of term. Lee shares his frustrations with the inspection system, why he believes it continues to drive teachers out of the profession and explains why meaningful reform will only happen if the culture around inspection changes completely. The conversation also turns to politics following Bridget Phillipson's departure as Education Secretary. Lee reflects on interviewing her at the Department for Education, responds to criticism he received online and explains the balancing act between holding decision makers to account while still being able to keep teachers' voices in the room. The lads can't avoid reliving England's heartbreaking World Cup exit either. They analyse where it all went wrong against Argentina, question Thomas Tuchel's tactics, reflect on the emotional rollercoaster of tournament football and discuss the darker side of the game, including the rise in domestic abuse following England defeats. Away from football, Lee shares some proud family news after attending his children's end of year awards, including one of the triplets being appointed Head Girl. The blind ranking also returns for one last time this season, with the pair deciding the perfect ways for teachers to spend their summer holidays. Finally, the listener stories provide the perfect end to another school year. There are hilarious tales of bizarre hospital visits, unforgettable end of year gifts, awkward staff celebrations and chaotic nights out featuring everything from giant bags of Hula Hoops and Yorkshire puddings to skinny dipping, karaoke disasters, nightclub encounters with parents and enough staff party confessions to remind everyone why schools are never short of unbelievable stories. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? Mr P puts your questions to the Education Secretary17 juil. 202600:31:45
n this special episode, Mr P sits down with the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson. A few weeks ago I asked you one simple question: if you could ask the Education Secretary anything, what would it be? Over 1000 of you replied. Teachers, TAs, SENCOs, SEND parents, school leaders, the response was overwhelming. So I took your most liked questions directly to Bridget Phillipson. From the vital role of support staff to the ongoing SEND crisis and the recent SATs marking debacle, we tried to cover as many topics in the short time available and reflect on the two years she’s been in the role. LO: To Not Be on Capabilities in The Bedroom17 juil. 202600:54:17
This week, the lads are counting down the final days until the summer holidays, with another hot week in school and England's World Cup semi final dominating absolutely everything. Adam admits the tournament has been the perfect distraction from a difficult few months at home, while both share their hopes, nerves and excitement ahead of England's biggest match in years. The conversation also turns to Jude Bellingham, with Lee sharing a message from one of Jude's former primary school teachers that perfectly sums up why he's become such a respected figure on and off the pitch. There's plenty of light hearted discussion too, including a thread celebrating the tiny everyday moments that somehow make life better. The blind ranking returns with a debate over the best ways to celebrate the end of the school year. From quiz nights and bottomless brunches to Jacob's Tables, themed evenings and simply heading to the pub after school, the lads reveal how they'd rank the perfect staff celebration. As always, the listener stories don't disappoint. There are tales of disastrous staff parties, drunken mishaps, medieval tunnels, embarrassing job interviews, parents' evening confessions that leave teachers speechless, and enough awkward school moments to make every listener grateful they weren't involved. Finally, the episode finishes with another collection of wonderfully ridiculous anonymous confessions. From Ofsted style bedroom performance reviews and bizarre acts of revenge over school attendance rewards, to fake DVDs being exposed by the police during a classroom visit, it's another reminder that teachers really do experience situations you simply couldn't make up. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To know school staff are far more appreciated than they think.13 juil. 202601:21:07
This week, the lads return still battling the heat as another sweltering week hits schools across the country. The episode features a fascinating behind the scenes look at Lee's visit to the Department for Education, where he took four pupils to Westminster and the DfE for a day they'll never forget. From private tours of the Houses of Parliament to interviewing the Education Secretary and seeing the famous red ministerial box up close, it's a brilliant reminder of what young people can achieve when given incredible opportunities. Lee reflects on just how proud he was of the children and why experiences like these restore your faith in education. There's also discussion around a new national survey highlighting how much the public values teachers, why appreciation means more than expensive gifts and how a simple thank you can make all the difference as another busy school year draws to a close. Football fans are in for a treat too, as the lads relive England's dramatic victory and discuss why this squad feels different. They celebrate the resilience, passion and togetherness shown by the team before taking on a brand new blind ranking challenge, deciding which England legends would make the best pupils in the classroom. Elsewhere, the thread of the week looks back at things that happened in schools years ago that simply wouldn't be allowed today. From blackboard dusters flying across classrooms and teachers publicly humiliating pupils, to smoking demonstrations, terrifying swimming lessons and some truly unbelievable stories from the 1980s and 1990s, it's equal parts hilarious and horrifying. Finally, the Sports Day stories continue with another collection of wonderfully chaotic tales. Expect over competitive parents, broken bones, collapsing gazebos, wardrobe malfunctions, beer hidden in backpacks, bribery attempts, cocaine discoveries, parents arriving in full athletics gear and enough sporting disasters to make any PE coordinator question why they ever agreed to organise Sports Day in the first place. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO - To know the parents race at sports day might not be worth the risk03 juil. 202601:10:40
This week, the lads look back on one of the hottest teaching weeks in recent memory and the media backlash that followed as schools across the country battled impossible classroom temperatures. Lee shares his frustration with the criticism aimed at teachers, discusses why schools are constantly expected to solve society's problems and explains why the real conversation should be about supporting working families rather than blaming schools. There's also plenty of discussion about misinformation online, viral parenting influencers, social media outrage and why so many education stories are designed to stir up anger rather than reflect the reality of life in schools. Elsewhere, Adam suffers another brutal celebrity lookalike comparison, while Lee receives perhaps the greatest introduction of his career at a teacher conference. The conversation also revisits one of their old classroom resources, leading to one of the funniest pupil comments they've heard in years. The blind ranking returns with a trip through television's most famous fictional teachers, sparking plenty of debate over who deserves top spot and who would be an absolute nightmare to work alongside. As always, the listener stories are packed with glorious second hand embarrassment. Expect accidental public humiliation, unfortunate misunderstandings, awkward supermarket moments, train disasters, unfortunate autocorrects and enough cringe to leave you hiding behind your hands. Back in school, the lads also share some unforgettable sex education moments, featuring innocent misconceptions, brilliantly timed pupil comments and the sort of questions no teacher is ever truly prepared to answer. Finally, sports day season is in full swing, bringing with it some of the funniest parent stories imaginable. From over competitive dads, ambitious mums, broken bones and prosthetic legs, to drunken spectators, police call outs and enough sporting chaos to convince anyone that parents' races might not be worth the risk after all. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To wonder how anyone is supposed to teach in this weather!25 juin 202601:11:28
LO: To wonder how anyone is supposed to teach in this weather! This week, the lads are recording in the middle of a sweltering heatwave and wondering how on earth anyone is expected to teach thirty children in classrooms that feel more like greenhouses. With temperatures soaring, an England World Cup campaign underway and the ever-present threat of an Ofsted call, it's a survival guide for teachers trying to make it to the end of term with their sanity intact. The conversation then takes an unexpected turn into politics as Lee shares his frustrations about the current state of government, leadership and public discourse. It's a passionate discussion about patience, accountability, social media, the pressures facing modern politicians and why meaningful change often feels impossible in a world that demands instant results. Elsewhere, Mr P reports back from seeing Take That live, prompting a nostalgic trip through the glory days of boy bands. Naturally, this leads to a blind ranking packed with questionable decisions, strong opinions and the sort of debate that could end friendships. There's also a discussion about one school's decision to remove teachers' desks and chairs entirely, sparking a wider conversation about trust, workload, classroom expectations and some of the stranger leadership decisions schools make in the name of improving teaching. As always, the listener stories steal the show. Expect tales of public embarrassment, disastrous train journeys, awkward encounters with strangers, unfortunate wardrobe malfunctions and enough second-hand cringe to make you hide behind a cushion. Back in school, there are plenty more classic pupil moments too, including accidental oversharing, spectacular misunderstandings, brutally honest children and the sort of comments that leave teachers desperately trying not to laugh. The episode finishes with a look at the strange habits that instantly give away anyone over thirty, from keeping boxes for everything and printing photos, to making phone calls, using proper punctuation and committing the ultimate Gen Z crime: sitting quietly with your own thoughts. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To Know A Better Name For A Bag Of Quavers17 juin 202601:05:40
This week, the lads are back with a big chat about the proposed under-16 social media ban and whether it actually solves the problem or just shifts it somewhere else. Lee and Adam talk through phones, attention spans, online safety, loneliness, youth clubs, boredom and why children need better alternatives than just being told to “go outside” like it’s 1998 and Snake on a Nokia is the height of entertainment. There’s also a look at the wider impact of social media on schools, from behaviour and friendships to the way trends, language and online drama somehow always end up landing in classrooms by 9:05am. As always, it becomes less “education policy discussion” and more “how are schools expected to fix absolutely everything?” The episode then takes a very strange turn with a bizarre education story involving hypnosis in a school, because apparently the job description wasn’t already weird enough. There’s also a blind ranking of end-of-year traditions, with the usual mix of strong opinions, questionable logic and Adam trying to keep some sort of order. Finally, the listener stories bring the usual chaos. Expect tales of pupil madness, staff exhaustion, end-of-term survival mode and the sort of classroom moments that make you laugh, wince and immediately think: “That’s going straight on CPOMS.” 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? LO: To know students will stick anything in places they shouldn't stick things.12 juin 202601:09:56
This week, the lads are back after half term and counting down the final few weeks until the summer holidays. Adam opens up about leaving his latest role and finding himself in that strange in-between stage of weighing up new opportunities, signing up for supply work and figuring out what comes next. Two new features this week. First - THE BIG QUESTION from a listener focuses around the Department for Education's controversial collaboration with Gemma Collins. Lee shares his experiences of working with the DfE, meeting Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson and explains the challenge of trying to represent teachers' concerns while still maintaining access to decision makers. The conversation dives into SEND reforms, teacher workload, government communication and why so many teachers and parents felt frustrated by the timing of the campaign. The there's IN THIS WEEK'S NEWS... There's also a look at two bizarre education news stories making headlines. One involves a teacher who called in sick before being spotted on a stag do in Portugal, while the other features a headteacher accused of some very questionable spending decisions involving school funds, cruises and karaoke machines. Elsewhere, there's a discussion about the latest playground obsession with Michael Jackson, memories of legendary school productions, and whether social media trends are any stranger than the things pupils were obsessed with in the 1990s. The blind ranking returns with a fiercely contested list of classic school dinner desserts. Expect strong opinions on Arctic Roll, Cornflake Tart, Sprinkle Cake, Jelly and Ice Cream, Rice Pudding and the iconic Chocolate Cake with Pink Custard. Some of the rankings may cause outrage. Finally, the listener stories are back and they might be some of the funniest yet. From children calling teachers "King of Crying", to pupils wiping tables with ham, swinging dead moles around the playground and attempting prison-style escapes via manholes, it's another reminder that no workplace produces stories quite like schools. 📬 Want your story or question featured on the pod? A chinwag with Rev Richard Coles06 juin 202600:59:00
This week’s special guest is the brilliant Richard Coles, joining the lads for a wide-ranging chat that somehow manages to cover children’s books, pop stardom, religion, reality TV, school life, funeral disasters and losing a speedboat in Ibiza. Richard talks about releasing his very first children’s book - https://amzn.to/3S51Q6j after already writing more than a dozen books for adults. He explains why he wanted to write stories about people whose adventures go spectacularly wrong, and why getting children hooked on reading feels more important than ever in a world battling for their attention. There’s a brilliant conversation about school visits, children’s honesty and the way young people see the world. Richard reflects on how empathetic and accepting children are today, while also sharing some hilarious moments from his recent school tour, including an unforgettable question about “having the nerve” to stand up and speak in front of people. The lads then head right back to the 1980s as Richard opens up about life in The Communards, having the biggest selling single of 1986 and the surreal experience of going from signing on at the dole office to flying on Concorde and dining with Andy Warhol and John Lydon in New York. There’s also a really thoughtful discussion around growing up gay in the 1970s, the challenges Richard faced at school and why finally being able to live honestly changed everything for him. It’s honest, reflective and full of perspective without ever losing the warmth and humour. The conversation then moves into Richard’s life as a vicar, including what people misunderstand most about religion and why being part of the church was never about escaping reality but facing it head-on. Naturally, this quickly descends into absolute chaos as the lads ask about disastrous weddings, awkward confessions and the unforgettable moment a bride catastrophically misjudged a nervous fart during the ceremony. There’s plenty of chat about TV too, including Strictly Come Dancing, I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, Celebrity MasterChef and Richard’s love of being thrown into bizarre situations with complete strangers. He also reveals the most disgusting thing he had to eat in the jungle and teases a reality show he’d still secretly love to do. As always, the episode finishes with the classic final question: what advice would Richard give to his ten-year-old self? His answer is simple, honest and genuinely lovely. A fascinating, funny and surprisingly moving episode with one of the most interesting guests the podcast has had. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To Try Your Best To Not Crack A Smile When Telling A Student Off21 mai 202601:01:19
Back for episode 250 and it’s the last one of the half term. SATs are finally done, but before anyone starts skipping into summer like they’re in a feel-good montage, the lads quickly remind everyone that the final half term is anything but calm. Reports, sports days, transitions, residentials, productions and the emotional roulette of finding out next year’s class all get a mention. Lovely. Peaceful. Relaxing. Absolutely not. There’s also a big build-up to the biggest live show the Two Mr Ps have ever done at The Lowry in Salford, with just a handful of tickets left and the show being filmed. No pressure then. From there, the lads get into a chat about parents, family stories and the little things that make every household slightly odd. It starts with the boys getting in trouble for things they’ve said about their own mum and dad on the podcast, before spiralling into a thread about the strange but brilliant things parents do. Some are sweet, some are baffling and some are the kind of thing you only realise isn’t normal when you say it out loud in front of other people. There’s also a listener question asking what the brothers admire about each other and what drives them mad. It gets unexpectedly wholesome for about 14 seconds before returning to the usual level of sibling irritation. Balance restored. This week’s blind ranking is classic school dinners, which sparks a proper nostalgic debate about turkey twizzlers, cheese whirls, watery veg and the undisputed glory of school pizza. Then the episode dives into listener stories, including early years chaos, questionable show and tell items, awkward school conversations and the sort of incidents that remind you teachers really do need danger money. The lads also run through some of the funniest reasons teachers have had to tell children off, from the ridiculous to the completely unhinged. It’s the kind of section that makes anyone outside education think, “Surely that didn’t happen,” while every teacher listening just nods and goes, “Yep. Standard Tuesday.” And to finish, there’s a brand-new feature: a ridiculous “would you rather” style dilemma for listeners to get involved in. First up: Donald Trump as a pupil in your class for a half term, or Katie Hopkins as a parent for a full year. Horrific either way. Like choosing between wet play and a staff meeting about wellbeing. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? Back for episode 249 and the lads kick things off right in the middle of SATs week, with the usual frustrations around testing, pressure and the yearly debate over whether SATs are helpful, pointless, stressful or all three at once. There’s also some pre-show nerves creeping in ahead of the biggest live podcast show they’ve ever done at The Lowry, with family, friends, colleagues and even headteachers all heading along to watch. There’s a chat about school podcasts too, with Mr P talking about getting children involved in creating their own school podcast and how brilliant it’s been for confidence, writing and giving pupils a genuine sense of purpose and ownership. From there, things descend into wedding chaos as the lads react to a thread about the wildest things people have witnessed at weddings. It quickly becomes clear that no wedding is safe from disaster. The episode then moves into a brilliant discussion around phrases and sayings people completely mispronounce or misunderstand. It’s one of those conversations where you suddenly realise half the population has been confidently saying things wrong for years and nobody’s corrected them. The lads spiral into the sort of confusion that makes you question whether you’ve been saying common phrases properly your entire life. There’s also a surprisingly deep conversation about school staff rooms and workplace culture after a listener shares a story about being banned from using the staff room during work experience. That leads into this week’s blind ranking: school red flags. Expectations around workload, wellbeing culture, unpaid extras and toxic school habits all get thrown into the mix as the lads debate which warning signs are the biggest indicators that a school might not be quite as supportive as it claims to be. Then comes a huge run of hilarious SATs answers, classroom misunderstandings and accidental pupil comebacks. And by the end of the episode, it’s complete classroom carnage. Quick-fire one-liners, savage pupil responses, accidental insults and absolute chaos from start to finish. One of those episodes where you spend half the time laughing and the other half wondering how teachers survive a full week without losing their minds. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO - To know a jail isn't a 3D Shape06 mai 202600:58:18
Back for episode 248 and it kicks off with the realities of the summer term: SATs, GCSEs, mocks, revision timetables and that slightly terrifying moment when you realise your children are suddenly much older than your brain has agreed to process. The opening chat turns into a proper reflection on parenting, growing up and those little moments that make you realise time is absolutely flying. There’s also a brilliant thread on clever parenting “hacks”, although most of them are less hack and more just genuinely thoughtful parenting. From encouraging reading and building life skills to quietly teaching responsibility, it’s a lovely reminder that the best parenting tricks are often the ones children don’t realise are tricks at the time. Then it’s time for this week’s blind ranking: fictional teachers. Mr P has to rank which famous screen teachers he’d most want as his parallel teacher, and it brings up everything from inspirational teaching to questionable behaviour management. Some choices are obvious, others are… brave. Let’s just say Miss Honey might not survive a modern Year 6 classroom without serious backup. With SATs week in full swing, the episode then dives into funny test answers and classroom misunderstandings. It’s full of those moments where children technically answer the question… just not in the way anyone expected. There’s maths logic, spelling confusion, history mix-ups and the kind of literal thinking that makes teachers both laugh and question every instruction they’ve ever given. There’s also a run of brilliant misunderstandings from pupils, from mixed-up vocabulary to accidental wordplay and those classic moments where children hear something completely different to what was actually said. As always, the innocence makes it ten times funnier. And finally, the episode ends with a properly awkward school story involving a very serious misunderstanding over an item brought into class. Panic, embarrassment, safeguarding concern, parental conversation… and then the reveal that it was not what anyone thought. Classic school life. Absolute chaos from start to finish. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: If you're going to brag, make sure it is believable28 avr. 202600:55:31
Back for episode 247 and it starts exactly how you’d expect… with absolute nonsense. A new lookalike shout lands for Adam and it might be one of the worst yet. Not even close to flattering, not even accurate… just unnecessarily savage. From there, it spirals into that familiar territory of people wildly overestimating themselves, which sets up the first thread perfectly. We get into “Jay from The Inbetweeners”-level brags, and honestly… the confidence people have is unbelievable. After that, it’s back to classroom life with a blind ranking of maths topics. Then come the teacher burns, and as always, they don’t disappoint. No filter, no intent… just brutal honesty from children. It’s savage, but in that way only primary kids can get away with. And then… the stories. We’re talking full-on classroom chaos and awkward moments that no training prepares you for. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To not announce you're a teacher at a swingers club21 avr. 202601:02:36
Back for episode 246 and it starts with a bit of chaos… a virtual recording and a guessing game as Mr P challenges Adam to work out where he is in the UK using only yes or no questions. There’s also a quick tour plug (that definitely wasn’t meant to be a plug…) with updates on upcoming live shows, including the huge Lowry date and the next run across the UK. From there, it’s straight into a blind ranking of school holidays and it gets surprisingly deep. October half term gets the respect it deserves for saving everyone from that brutal first stretch, Christmas gets called out for not actually being a “break”, and February half term takes a bit of a battering. Naturally, the summer holidays come out on top, followed by a proper rant about why they absolutely should not be shortened — and how the real issue isn’t schools, it’s the wider pressures on families. There’s also a nostalgic detour into what summer used to look like… playing out all day, making games up on the spot, and surviving things like “10 and you’re dead” without any adult supervision. A reminder that boredom wasn’t a problem, it was the starting point for everything. Then it takes a turn. A thread on the most cringe things people have seen at weddings delivers exactly what you’d expect… and worse. We’re talking public oversharing at the altar, couples counting cash gifts in front of guests, Disney mascot outfits, painfully awkward first dances, and some truly baffling “creative” choices that should never have left the planning stage. And then… the main event. Mr P brings in a listener challenge: ranking the most awkward places teachers have bumped into parents. What follows is absolute carnage. It’s one of those episodes where you laugh, wince, and feel slightly better about your own worst moments… because it could always be worse. Much worse. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO - To not let the sun trick us into thinking it is summer.15 avr. 202601:11:51
Back for episode 245 and straight into the summer term chat, the lads kick things off reflecting on the Easter break… or what we all pretend is a break. Adam shares the reality of a family holiday abroad. Meanwhile, Mr P embraces the complete opposite approach and does absolutely nothing, other than going all-in on a serious binge of Game of Thrones with the boys, reliving iconic moments and questioning just how much unnecessary nudity was really needed. There’s also a relatable rant about bank holidays landing in the middle of school breaks (the ultimate teacher scam), the chaos of holiday resort shops, and one very creative bit of parenting on how to explain a questionable t-shirt slogan to a curious child without opening a can of worms you’re not ready for. From there, it’s straight into a brilliant thread of “oops” moments, and honestly, it’s the kind of content that makes you feel instantly better about your own worst day. The episode then shifts into classic school chaos with a run of things children have said that are equal parts ridiculous and genius. From accidental one-liners to completely unfiltered honesty, it’s a reminder that kids will always find a way to humble you in seconds. There’s also a listener dilemma around a colleague not pulling their weight, leading to a really honest conversation about boundaries, workload, and the reality of working in teams. No sugar-coating, just practical advice about having those slightly awkward but necessary conversations and protecting your own time without taking on everyone else’s. The final section is a full-on deep dive into the most shocking things people have witnessed in schools, and it is absolute carnage. We’re talking animals appearing in classrooms, completely inappropriate show and tell items, chaotic behaviour that you couldn’t make up, and moments that range from hilarious to genuinely unbelievable. The infamous “Viagra incident” alone is worth the listen. It’s one of those episodes that perfectly sums up school life. Exhausting, unpredictable, occasionally ridiculous… but always full of stories you’ll be telling for years. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? Two Mr Ps in a Podcast — Bridget Phillipson on the White Paper26 mars 202600:35:48
This week, Lee sat down with the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, to discuss the government's Every Child Achieving and Thriving white paper and the SEND consultation. I thought we would have had a lot more time than we actually had, which meant a few questions I had prepared from the 1,000+ questions submitted weren’t asked. And probably not being able to go back on every answer in the way I'd have liked, but I decided to focus on giving the Ed Sec a chance to bring clarity to some of what had been proposed. There were things left on the table and some answers that deserved more pushback than time allowed. That's worth being upfront about. The conversation covered SEND funding and what the £4 billion investment will actually look like in a mainstream classroom, the new Individual Support Plans, what happens to EHCPs, inclusion bases, the role of SENCOs, support staff pay and recognition, workload concerns including the future of the 1,265 directed hours, early intervention through the Best Start Family Hubs, curriculum changes, and Ofsted's new inspection framework, including whether the data suggests disadvantaged schools are being disproportionately affected. Some of those questions got fuller answers than others. Some of the answers raised further questions we didn't get time to follow up on. That's the reality of a time-limited sit-down with a Secretary of State. The SEND consultation is open now and closes 18 May 2026. Whether you're a teacher, support staff, parent or professional, they're asking for responses - https://consult.education.gov.uk/send-strategy-division/send-reform-putting-children-and-young-people-firs/https://consult.education.gov.uk/send-strategy-division/send-reform-putting-children-and-young-people-firs/  Head to neu.org.uk/abolish-ofsted to find the Ofterd risk assessment guide from the NEU. LO: To know school staff witness and see some shocking stuff24 mars 202601:06:51
Episode 244 starts with Adam having an absolute stinker of a morning after waking up to discover he's been a victim of fraud with some going on a shopping spree, before drifting into a chat about nights out, drinking culture, getting older, and the strange pressure people put on you to “join in” even when you’re perfectly happy not drinking at all. From there, the episode takes a funny turn into sport, recognition in public and some classic grassroots sport observations, including kids shamelessly copying professional footballers and bringing full Premier League energy to very low-stakes matches. The main thread of the episode is all about the funniest and most painful faux pas people have ever made, and it is packed with properly toe-curling stories. There’s also another blind ranking, this time focused on classic UK playground games, which brings up all the old-school chaos of British Bulldog, Red Rover, Kiss Chase and the rest. The second half of the episode is classic school-story gold. There’s a listener dilemma about a colleague who never comes into the staff room, followed by a long run of completely ridiculous things people have witnessed in schools. As always, the episode finishes with the kind of school-based madness that makes you question how any teacher gets through the week with their sanity intact. It’s packed with awkward moments, unbelievable stories, and the sort of staffroom-style laughter that makes the whole profession feel just a little bit more survivable. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To know things were so much better in the early 2000s17 mars 202601:09:00
Recorded as the slog towards Easter starts to bite, Episode 243 begins with the lads reflecting on that very familiar point in the term where teacher tiredness properly kicks in. There’s talk of spring optimism (or the lack of it), stress breakouts making a comeback, and the general feeling of clawing your way towards the next holiday while pretending you’re holding it together. The episode kicks off with a nostalgic thread about things from early 2000s Britain people didn’t realise they’d miss so much. From nights out that only required twenty quid and cheap Bacardi Breezers, to bus tickets with McDonald’s vouchers on the back, HMV album hunting, and the days when everyone watched the same TV shows at the same time, it turns into a proper trip down memory lane. The conversation drifts into how technology, phones and streaming have changed the way people experience music, films and nights out, with a discussion about whether unlimited content has actually made things feel less special. There’s also a deeper conversation around social media algorithms and the rise of controversial influencers, sparked by a recent documentary that left the lads equally fascinated and frustrated. They talk about how online platforms amplify extreme voices, the impact this has on young people, and the importance of helping the next generation understand what genuine confidence and respect actually look like. The middle of the episode delivers two classic Two Mr Ps blind rankings. First, a chaotic and slightly ridiculous ranking of infamous film parody titles purely based on wordplay, which quickly descends into uncontrollable laughter. A slightly more sensible blind ranking follows with classroom stationery, where the lads attempt to rank essential classroom items, although the results are somewhat questionable. As always, the second half of the episode is packed with listener stories from schools. There are staffroom oversharing disasters, awkward home visit moments, and one unforgettable nativity-era confession involving a mysterious bright green incident in the staff toilet that led to posters on toilet etiquette appearing around school. There’s also discussion about the most germ-ridden objects in primary schools and the strange realities of working in early years, where absolutely anything can happen. The episode wraps up with a brilliant run of “teacher tired” moments, from accidentally drinking sandpit tea made by reception children to falling asleep in meetings. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To Not Blink If You Hear A Splat!13 mars 202600:58:45
Recorded as spring starts to creep in (even if the weather still can’t make its mind up), Episode 242 begins with the lads reflecting on the strange world of online comments and the fine balance between loving teaching and calling out the frustrations of the system around it. There’s a bit of venting about social media criticism, a reminder of why speaking honestly about education matters, and some lovely listener messages from the recent live tour shows that highlight just how much the podcast and live events mean to people going through difficult times. With the Lowry show edging closer to a potential sell-out, there’s also a big push for the Manchester homecoming gig, which could end up being filmed if the final tickets disappear. From there, the episode takes a detour into a thread about times people have completely misunderstood what an event, film, or experience actually was. From musical theatre mishaps and unexpected concerts to cinema trips that turned out nothing like expected, it sparks a run of stories about assumptions going badly wrong and the awkward moments that follow. The blind ranking returns with a very relatable workplace theme: the different types of colleagues you encounter on a work night out. The second half of the episode is packed with classic listener submissions and classroom chaos. There are brilliant examples of children misunderstanding words and concepts, accidental classroom innuendos, and those unforgettable moments where teachers have to keep a straight face despite what’s just been said. Stories include awkward school trips, workplace misunderstandings, World Book Day mishaps, and the kind of bizarre incidents that only ever seem to happen in schools. As always, it ends with a run of jaw-dropping and slightly grim school moments, including some truly disgusting classroom encounters that will test the stomachs of even the most experienced teachers. Full of laughs, relatable teacher moments, and the sort of stories that make you grateful your own day wasn’t quite that chaotic, Episode 242 is another classic staffroom-style catch-up from the Two Mr Ps. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To Know Why You Should Never Bite Your Nails!03 mars 202600:58:55
Recorded on the back of a huge February half-term tour run, Episode 241 kicks off with a proper thank you to everyone who packed out theatres across the country. From Edinburgh on Valentine’s Day through a full week of shows, the lads reflect on near sell-outs, standing ovations, and just how surreal it feels to have a thousand-plus school staff in a room for a night of laughs. There’s also big news as more dates are added for October and February 2027, with venues across the South and North lined up and the Lowry show in May shaping up to be one of the biggest they’ve ever done. After the tour chat, things take a sharp left into hospital ward drama. A routine visit to see their recovering dad turns into an unexpected soap opera. The blind ranking returns with “types of co-workers.” Thread of the Week then opens the floodgates to hilarious workplace stories beyond teaching. Parents’ evening horror stories make an appearance too. It’s awkward, it’s cringey, and it’s painfully relatable for anyone who’s ever sat behind a tiny table under strip lighting making small talk about phonics. The episode also tackles a genuine dilemma: is it ever okay for a teacher to pursue something romantic with a former pupil once they’re both adults? The lads don’t sit on the fence. There’s the usual run of school-based chaos too, including ridiculous parent complaints, unexpected wildlife incidents in the playground, and one truly grim Year 2 classroom moment involving a “baby worm” discovery that turns into an impromptu lesson on threadworms, nail biting, and professional composure under pressure. It’s a full episode: gratitude, gossip, rankings, dilemmas, disgust, and a healthy reminder that working in schools means you are never more than five minutes away from something utterly bizarre. LO: To wonder who Mike Upperty is?10 févr. 202601:02:31
Recorded on the very last stretch of half term, Episode 240 is a full-throttle, no-holds-barred pre-tour episode that somehow squeezes in tour hype, wholesome dad moments, pure school chaos, and some of the most jaw-dropping listener stories yet. The episode kicks off with big tour energy as the lads count down to hitting the road, with Edinburgh and Newcastle up first and a final rallying cry for Liverpool later in the month. There’s a heartfelt shoutout to their dad, usual tour driver and provider of legendary anecdotes, who’s currently recovering from a knee replacement and sitting this run out. Then it’s straight back into podcast territory with another blind ranking, this time tackling annual school events. Parents’ evenings, nativity performances, sports days, residentials, fairs, and World Book Day all get thrown into the mix, sparking plenty of debate, mild regret, and strong opinions that teachers will instantly relate to. The bulk of the episode leans hard into listener submissions, starting with brilliantly silly misunderstandings and misheard phrases that people have believed for years, ranging from song lyrics and celebrity names to everyday sayings that suddenly make sense far too late in life. It’s comforting, hilarious, and mildly alarming how many adults are just confidently wrong. Things then escalate into a long run of “how are you still alive?” stories, featuring breathtaking lapses in common sense. it’s a reminder that if you’re going to be dumb, you really do have to be tough. The second half has more school scandal stories. Affairs, shocking rumours, staffroom gossip, wildly inappropriate behaviour, safeguarding nightmares, and the sheer madness that somehow happens in school. The episode finishes strong with a mix of classic teacher horror stories and absolute gold-standard cringe. LO: To Wonder How Some Teachers Have Time For Scandal When We Don't Get A Minute For The Toilet04 févr. 202601:06:54
Episode 239 is a big one. Recorded straight after another padel match that very much did not go Mr P’s way, this episode starts with sore bodies, bruised egos, and the familiar ritual of over-analysing a loss like it’s a post-match Sky Sports interview. There’s tour admin to get through too, with the February half-term shows now dangerously close, a final push for Liverpool, and the lads officially back on the road next week. The episode then shifts into one of the most relatable blind rankings yet: the top things parents do that grind teachers’ gears. From WhatsApp group gossip and unlabeled jumpers to late pick-ups and end-of-day ambush chats, it’s a brutally honest ranking that will have teachers nodding along and parents quietly rethinking their life choices. From there, things take a turn into awkwardness territory. The lads unpack things that happen in films that would be deeply uncomfortable or completely unrealistic in real life, before spiralling into everyday social situations that make people inexplicably cringe. Listener-submitted stories remind everyone that working with children is not for the faint-hearted, featuring bodily fluids, questionable hygiene choices, and moments that genuinely test a teacher’s gag reflex. There’s even one incident involving an Ofsted inspector that might just restore your faith in karma. The final stretch of the episode dives headfirst into full-blown school scandal. Affairs, stock cupboards, staffroom gossip, inappropriate relationships, shocking betrayals, and some jaw-dropping real-life stories that feel more like soap opera plotlines than actual workplaces. It all culminates in a real news story which leaves the lads equal parts horrified, stunned, and laughing in disbelief. As ever, the episode ends with a reminder that if you think your week’s been bad, it probably hasn’t been that bad. Dark, chaotic, and outrageously funny, Episode 239 is not one for the faint-hearted, but it’s classic Two Mr Ps chaos from start to finish. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To feel the cringe with second hand embarrassment28 janv. 202601:02:48
Recorded deep in the never-ending January slump and straight after another padel game, Episode 238 is classic Two Mr Ps energy: slightly smug from a win, physically knackered, and emotionally hanging on by a thread. The lads kick things off with padel chat, tour excitement, and a last call for tickets as the February half-term run creeps ever closer, with plenty of reminders that a night out laughing with other teachers might be the healthiest coping strategy available right now. From there, it’s straight into a listener-favourite blind ranking, this time tackling the ultimate “extras” every teacher secretly dreams of having in their classroom. It quickly turns into a very honest reflection on what actually makes teaching easier day to day, with a few regrets, some strong opinions, and one clear winner that sums up how stretched schools really are. The episode then shifts into a more serious but very familiar rant about phones, social media, trust in teachers, and why schools keep getting lumbered with extra scrutiny for problems that largely come from outside the classroom. There’s frustration, realism, and a clear line drawn between useful technology and the attention-hijacking platforms that are causing far bigger issues for young people and adults alike. After that, things spiral beautifully into pure chaos. There are threads packed with main-character moments that went catastrophically wrong, second-hand embarrassment stories so painful you’ll want to pause the episode, and plenty of smug confidence meeting instant karma. As ever, it proves that humility is underrated and public showboating rarely ends well. The second half is wall-to-wall teacher gold: funny things kids have said, misunderstandings that snowball out of control, accidental innuendos, awkward assemblies, mortifying slips of the tongue, and those moments where professionalism is hanging on by a very thin thread. There’s also a controversial confession that sparks genuine disbelief and a rare moment where the lads draw a firm line on what’s not okay, even by podcast standards. It all wraps up exactly how listeners expect: ridiculous stories, big laughs, shared cringe, and the comforting reminder that no matter how wild your week’s been, someone else’s has definitely been worse. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To be careful leading a Big School Bird Watch assembly20 janv. 202600:59:57
Recorded in peak January survival mode, Episode 237 is a proper classic Two Mr Ps ramble that somehow starts with tour warnings and ends with… absolute school-based chaos. The lads kick things off with a three week countdown to the next run of live shows, a bit of excitement about trialling full video episodes on YouTube, and a surprisingly long detour into haircuts, beards, and the deeply humbling world of acting self tapes, where Adam discovers that “throwing yourself into a role” sometimes just means your partner cry-laughing at you in the kitchen. From there, the episode leans into shared nostalgia and gentle self-ridicule, with stories of teenage acting, questionable school trips from the past, and Mr P very lightly taking credit for helping solve a crime via a Crimewatch reconstruction. As always, confidence is high. Accuracy is optional. The middle of the episode brings back another blind ranking. This time it’s the worst things a member of school staff can hear at 8.30am, prompting some very relatable debate about printers, WiFi, parents asking for “a chat”, and why vague meetings can ruin your entire day before it’s even started. If you’ve ever stood in a classroom mentally reprioritising your will to live before the bell, this bit will hit home. Things then slide neatly into a thread about the worst bits of general knowledge people have ever got confidently wrong, proving once again that adulthood does not guarantee understanding of geography, biology, space, or how the human body works. It’s comforting, alarming, and very funny in equal measure. The second half is packed with what the podcast does best: relentless teacher stories. Quick-fire pupil comebacks, accidental classroom burns, and moments of unintentional brilliance from children who absolutely did not mean to be funny, but very much were. There’s a strong run of anonymous submissions too, covering awkward parent interactions, catastrophic slips of the tongue, staffroom mishaps, EYFS horror stories, and the kind of incidents that could only ever happen in a school and could only ever be laughed about years later. It all builds to a finish that perfectly sums up the podcast: wildly inappropriate visuals, uncontrollable laughter, and the shared understanding that teaching is a job where no amount of training can prepare you for what you’ll actually experience. Chaotic, cathartic, and exactly the sort of episode that feels like a long staffroom chat after a very long day. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To Know Who Is Strong, Built and Scary13 janv. 202600:58:32
Recorded straight after a padel game and delivered from a slightly overheated garden studio, Episode 236 is very much a classic Two Mr Ps episode: chaotic, relatable, and held together by teacher tiredness and questionable decision making. The lads kick things off with wellbeing chat, winter survival mode, and the small victories that get you through January, before a quick reminder that the live tour is creeping up fast and having something in the diary can make a genuinely grim half-term feel survivable. From there, the episode leans heavily into what listeners love most: the everyday nonsense of school life. There’s a blind ranking of the most annoying things children say in lessons, plenty of shared frustration about classroom time-wasters, and a deep dive into how rumours start, spread, and somehow become accepted fact in schools, workplaces, and beyond. As always, the stories spiral quickly, proving that children, adults, and the internet are all equally capable of absolute nonsense. The second half is packed with the kind of teacher stories that make you laugh and wince at the same time: accidental innuendos, things kids say with total innocence but disastrous timing, and those moments where you have to keep a straight face despite everything in your body telling you not to. It wraps up with a listener dilemma that touches on authority, humour, and whether staff in leadership roles should be able to take a joke, sparking a surprisingly thoughtful discussion beneath the laughs. It’s one of those episodes that feels like a long staffroom chat at the end of a tough day: lots of laughing, a bit of venting, and the comforting reminder that if your week’s been a mess, you’re definitely not alone. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO - To Know About The Gates of Paradise 06 janv. 202601:05:59
Recorded on the first day back after the Christmas break, Episode 235 kicks off with the lads doing what every teacher and school worker is doing right now: pretending they’re “refreshed” while their soul quietly leaves their body. Adam shares a very real festive debrief, with Christmas containing some genuinely lovely moments… and some properly tough ones too, as Max struggles with the change of routine and sleep goes fully off the rails. New Year’s resolutions get a run through, with Adam aiming to sort his eating out (less “accidental fasting followed by a massive pig out”) and the purchase of a new air fryer being presented as the fresh start nobody asked for. Mr P’s resolution is a bit more existential: better phone habits, less doom scrolling, more control over screen time… which is tricky when social media has basically built the whole Mr P empire. He also shares a genuinely terrifying first day back journey involving ice, sliding, and a lorry that nearly turned inset day into a very dramatic insurance claim. From there, the episode shifts into a proper 2025 rewind: favourite films, TV series, trends, songs, and best moments. There’s love for the tour, big family memories, and some surprisingly wholesome reflection, including Mr P’s proudest dad moment of the year. Then it’s straight into what the podcast does best: kids being absolutely unhinged. Adam brings a run of savage pupil comments (including brutal body comments, classic “you’re too old to marry”, and some questions that should never be asked out loud). Mr P adds more of the funniest things teachers have heard, including the sort of innocent one-liners that are hilarious… until you remember you’re the adult in the room and you’re meant to keep a straight face. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? The Two Mr Ps Christmas Special Part 222 déc. 202501:14:46
Recorded as Part 2 of the Christmas Special, this episode is basically festive story time with no filler, just wall-to-wall chaos from schools and staff rooms. It kicks off with a rapid-fire run of Christmas related parent complaints, the sort that make you question how we’ve survived as a species. From nativity casting drama to utterly wild expectations of what schools should be doing in December, it’s the full “parents at Christmas” bingo card. From there it moves into nativity mayhem: costume misunderstandings, rogue characters, ill timed one liners, performances held together with panic, Blu Tack and pure teacher instinct. Think classic primary school Christmas show energy… but dialled up. Next comes a collection of bizarre and hilarious teacher gifts. Not the usual “we don’t expect anything” bit (which is said, because it’s true), but more the strange, accidental, overly personal or completely unhinged presents that only ever seem to happen in education. Then it turns to staff do confessions and workplace Christmas party stories, ranging from awkward oversharing and cringe flirting to situations that are so chaotic they should come with a safeguarding flowchart. It’s a reminder that a school staff night out is basically a controlled experiment in poor decision-making. There’s also a run of Secret Santa stories, including the type of gift choices that leave an entire staff room silent, plus a few moments that prove Secret Santa is either the best bonding experience in the world or the quickest route to HR. The episode wraps with a big thank you to listeners for sharing stories and supporting the pod and the live tour, plus the usual end of term message: rest up, survive the festive madness, and they’ll be back in January. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? The Two Mr Ps Christmas Special Part 116 déc. 202501:07:21
Part 1 of the Christmas Special kicks off exactly how most school staff feel by mid-December: exhausted, slightly ill, and crawling towards the finish line like it’s Sports Day in a suit. Adam’s running on fumes, Lee’s been properly hit by the lurgy, there’s a heartfelt bit about how crucial the Christmas break is, even if you’re not a “massive Christmas person”. If you’re sat there thinking you could happily work through it, the lads reckon that’s less festive spirit and more a genuine warning sign. They give another big thank you for the tour love, with the slightly mind blowing update that over 15,000 tickets have sold, plus a reminder that the tour is extending into October 2026 and February 2027. They also have a laugh at the annual “Christmas is being cancelled” crowd, sparked by Tesco calling Christmas trees “evergreen trees”, as if capitalism is suddenly going to stop selling Christmas. The second half is a brilliant thread: “What’s a Christmas tradition your family does that you don’t think anyone else does?” There’s a genuinely lovely bit of reflection too on “presence over presents” and the pressure parents put on themselves to make Christmas perfect, plus how traditions and time together matter more than whatever plastic trend the kids wanted that year. Part 1 ends with the lads deciding to split the Christmas Special into two episodes, because there’s too much festive chaos for one. Part 2 is coming later in the break with even more stories. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO - To Know The End Piece Of A Loaf Is Called The Crust10 déc. 202501:07:19
Recorded right at the business end of term, this episode has full “teacher in December” energy: Lee’s full of lurgy, the voice is hanging on by a thread, and everyone listening will feel very seen. The lads chat about the run-in to Christmas, the looming Christmas special, and that strange mix of exhaustion and silliness that only happens in the last couple of weeks of term. There’s a big chunk of nostalgia and comfort food chat as they get into the truly important question: what do you call the end bit of a loaf of bread? The episode also digs into the chaos of adult life and parenting: how mums and dads handle tech (or don’t), the bizarre logic some parents live by, and the moment you realise the people who told you not to believe everything on the internet now believe everything on the internet. There’s also some big tour news woven through the episode. Off the back of over 15,000 tickets sold, the Let That Be A Lesson tour is being extended with new dates across October 2026 and February 2027, on top of the February and May 2026 shows already announced. It’s the perfect “teacher night out” slash “please save me from another candle set” gift. All dates and tickets are at twomrpspodcast.com. On top of that, TeachMate has had a full glow up and the team are offering free January school trials so staff can hit 2026 with something that actually reduces workload. LO: To Realise You Are Officially Older Than Santa Claus! 03 déc. 202501:14:43
Recorded on the first of December, this episode kicks off with full on festive chat as the lads talk advent calendars, Centre Parcs prices, the joy and absolute faff of Christmas with kids, and the emotional shift from doing the full Father Christmas and elf on the shelf routine to having slightly older children who still love it but in a different way. There is a proper bit of reflection on nostalgia and ageing, from childhood Christmas traditions and Blue Peter badges to the brutal moment you realise you are now older than the characters you grew up watching in classic Christmas films. The big news this week is a huge announcement about the Let That Be A Lesson tour. After selling over fifteen thousand tickets for the current run, the boys reveal that the tour is being extended with brand new dates across the country in October 2026 and February 2027, giving more teachers and school staff the chance to come out, switch off and have a night of classroom chaos stories in real life. This week’s thread looks at things in the UK that have quietly disappeared without anyone really noticing. There is also a run of teacher fails that will make every member of school staff feel instantly better about their own week. From classroom mishaps to unfortunate wording and tech disasters, it is a reminder that everyone in schools is permanently one tired moment away from unintentional chaos. The episode rounds off with a call for Christmas stories for the upcoming festive special: nativity disasters, staff do confessions, dodgy presents, and anything brilliantly chaotic from the Christmas season. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? In this episode, the Two Mr Ps are back recording virtually in the chaos of late November, catching up on life, school and the absolute slog that is autumn term two. Lee talks about how busy the past few weeks have been with training and travelling, and shares his appreciation for all the lovely messages after his MBE ceremony. There is a bit of telly chat as they recommend a new drama series they are both hooked on and compare that with the reality of trying to watch anything when you have young children and a very creative relationship with the TV remote. The main thread of the episode is built around the question “What is something everybody does but never admits to?” How many of these do you do but would never admit? The conversation then shifts into school life, with a proper chat about teaching assistants and support staff. They unpack why so many TAs say “I am just a TA”, how the system pushes people to feel undervalued, and why in reality schools could not function without them. That leads into a wider discussion about workload, accountability and the impact of inspection culture on staff wellbeing. As always, there are plenty of classroom moments and pupil one liners sprinkled through, capturing the everyday chaos, honesty and unfiltered logic of children in school. Alongside some more funny tales submitted for the live tour that didn't quite make the shows. The lads are gearing up for their annual Christmas special so if you have any funny festive tales, do share. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To Remember To Ask The Future King If He Wants To Be A Guest On The Pod!21 nov. 202501:08:33
Welcome back to another episode of Two Mr Ps in a Podcast! It’s a big one this week as the lads sit down to record on a very special day, the day Lee received his MBE at Windsor Castle from none other than Prince William. From being suited and booted to explaining TeachMateAI to the heir to the throne, Lee shares every detail of the surreal experience, including a story about his dad making quite the royal impression in the toilets of Windsor. Before that, the brothers look back on their final live show of 2025 in Belfast at the iconic Ulster Hall. From 200 people in their first ever Belfast gig to more than 800 this time round, it’s been an unbelievable journey though The Other Mrp still hasn’t learned his pre-show “don’t eat the mixed grill” lesson. Cue kebabs, chaos, and one very unexpected chat with a tipsy local who mistook them for a different nationality. Then it’s back to classroom life with a brilliant thread on “What would shock your 13-year-old self about who you’ve become?” There’s also a round-up of teacher call-and-response fails, awkward classroom moments , and a few classic listener stories that go from pure innocence to total chaos. To finish, the lads tackle your listener questions from how to handle job rejection to which famous person they’d bring back for a chat and Adam gives his glowing review of seeing Five live (complete with a few unexpected fan encounters). The lads are gearing up for their annual Christmas special so if you have any funny festive tales, do share. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? Welcome back to another episode of Two Mr Ps in a Podcast as the lads return for Autumn 2 after a hectic few weeks on the road. It has been a rollercoaster since half term, from hospital trips and sleepless nights to a marathon run of sold-out live shows that saw almost 8,000 of you join the fun across the country. The Mr Ps share their gratitude for everyone who came along, laughed, cheered, and made the Let That Be a Lesson tour the biggest and best yet. They chat about the whirlwind of the October tour run including highlights from Manchester, Rhyl, Exeter, London, and Brighton before revealing how their first-ever American TV appearance didn’t quite go to plan. You can watch the interview here - https://youtu.be/MD_b8zz3HG8?si=kDoOSZPy_rFgjZz7. After the tour tales come the teaching giggles with a thread packed full of teachers’ most awkward and unfortunate Google searches. Expect laugh-out-loud moments as they read through real-life stories of innocent classroom searches gone horribly wrong. There are also a few unforgettable tales of email mix-ups, accidental swearing, and one jaw-dropping WhatsApp blunder that left a teacher red-faced in front of their entire staff. As always, it is the perfect mix of teacher chaos, relatable humour, and pure classroom gold. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? A Chinwag with Dr Kaitlyn Regehr29 oct. 202501:00:58
After reading her book, "Smartphone Nation," over the summer, I'm really excited to sit down for a chinwag with Dr Kaitlyn Ragehr. As a Digital Humanities professor at University College London, she spends a significant amount of time examining the impacts of social media, particularly on young people. Hopefully, you find this a fascinating listen. After reading her book, I made changes to the way I look and think about social media and my smartphone use, and maybe after hearing this, you might too. https://profiles.ucl.ac.uk/88177-kaitlyn-regehr Don't forget, we're out on tour and you can still get tickets! 📍 Dates & Venues: 🎭 October 2025 18th: Manchester, Aviva Studios 🐝 24th: Rhyl, Pavilion Theatre 🌊 25th: Northampton, Derngate 🏰 26th: Hull, City Hall 🎟️ 27th: Reading, Concert Hall 📚 28th: Exeter, Corn Exchange 🌽 29th: London, Hackney Empire 🎡 30th: Worthing, Assembly Hall 🌅 31st: Guildford, G Live 🎶 🎭 November 2025 1st: Torquay, Babbacombe Theatre 🌴 15th: Belfast, Ulster Hall 🍀 🎭 February 2026 14th: Edinburgh, Queen’s Hall 🎻 15th: Newcastle, Tyne Theatre 🎭 17th: Birmingham, Town Hall 🏙️ 18th: Sheffield, Memorial Hall 🧱 19th: Leicester, De Montfort Hall 🦊 20th: Bradford, St George’s Hall 🏰 22nd: Cardiff, New Theatre 🏉 🎭 May 2026 22nd: Salford, The Lowry 🎨 🎟️ Grab your tickets now at 2mrpspodcast.com/live 🎟️ 👯‍♀️ Tag your teacher crew, bring your mates, and let’s make this tour UNFORGETTABLE! 💃🙌🔥 Learn more about your ad choices. LO: To know the first live show of the new tour will take some beating!25 oct. 202501:12:08
Welcome back to another episode of Two Mr Ps in a Podcast as we hit the final stretch before the October half-term. Whether you’re already off or crawling to the finish line, this one’s packed with laughs, nostalgia, and a few moments of pure disbelief. The lads kick things off still buzzing from their sold-out hometown show at Manchester’s Aviva Studios, reflecting on the biggest show of the podcast so far. From pre-show nerves and backstage chaos to an unexpected clash with a very different performance happening in the same venue, they share all the behind-the-scenes highs and hiccups from the launch of the Let That Be a Lesson live tour. Then it’s straight into this week’s thread, exploring things people thought were luxuries growing up. From sharing bedrooms and recording Sky Plus shows on VHS to the magic of a Viennetta on Christmas Eve, the brothers dive into a proper trip down memory lane complete with nostalgic meals, questionable fashion choices, and a few budget holiday memories that every 80s and 90s kid will relate to. The episode also features a hilarious round-up of autocorrect fails, including some shocking typos, red-faced emails, and texts that could have ended careers (or relationships). The chaos doesn’t stop there, as the Mr Ps wrap up with a fresh batch of “O” moments — the jaw-dropping things teachers, colleagues, and parents have actually said in schools. From mix-ups about history and science to unforgettable classroom blunders, it’s a perfect reminder that sometimes laughter really is the only option. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod? LO: To Try And Get Some Sleep Before Our Biggest Show To Date!14 oct. 202500:52:39
Welcome back to another episode of Two Mr Ps in a Podcast as the lads record their final episode before the Let That Be a Lesson Live Tour officially kicks off this weekend at the Aviva Studios in Manchester. With 1,200 tickets snapped up, it is a sell-out, the biggest show we have done to date and the excitement (and nerves) are very real. The brothers chat about tour prep, the sleepless nights, and the sheer pride of seeing how far the podcast has come. From humble beginnings to performing in front of huge audiences, they reflect on what makes the show special, a mix of raw honesty, relatable chaos, and proper teacher humour. Once the warm-up chat is done, they dive into this week’s thread: the co-workers who ruined it for everyone. Basically don't involve alcohol and Hawaiian shirts. There are also some brilliantly cringe and laugh-out-loud listener stories, from accidental PDA encounters and embarrassing mix-ups to school scandals, awkward misunderstandings, and one unforgettable tale about a classroom spider incident that spirals wildly out of control. As always, it’s an episode full of teacher laughs, relatable moments, and the kind of storytelling that reminds you why this podcast has built such a loyal community. 📬 Want your story featured on the pod?
