It's new FlossTube day! I have plenty of cosy stitching updates and a few big life chats to catch up on this fortnight! On the stitching front, I managed a speedy 10-day finish on the utterly charming "Fall Fantasy House" by FlossyFoxShop, stayed on track with my current SALs, and finally hooped and hung my "Pretty Little Cities" trio (Sydney, LA, and Seattle) after having the first finish sitting around since 2022.

Beyond the hoop, I'm sharing some personal news after receiving my official neurological assessment results earlier this year, diving into early Halloween costume crafting with a very ambitious Ragatha wig for my youngest daughter, and asking for your thoughts on whether I should open custom holiday ornament orders again this season.

FlossTube #132 - Starting Christmas Gifts in August & New Pattern Release!10 Aug 202600:27:25

Happy new-FlossTube-day! In this episode, I'm sharing my newest cross-stitch pattern release, "Cascadia Edict" — my second Dungeon Crawler Carl -inspired design (with a huge shout-out to the kind stranger who helped me land on the perfect name!). I'm also dipping my toe into a brand-new, AI-free marketplace called 'fybe', showing off a fun haul from The Black Needle Society, and confessing to the fact that I've already getting ready to kick-off Christmas stitching for my girls with a K-Pop Demon Hunter piece and some tiny pixel art I found on Pinterest.

Grab your current WIP and a cuppa because this fortnight's episode is a bit of a milestone one - I am officially celebrating my 40th birthday [on recording day]! (Which is absolutely bizarre, as I'm pretty sure I was just in my mid-20s last week?) Aside from reflecting on a few wonderful birthday treats (including my recent tattoo and that amazing trip to Stitch-Con in Ohio) I'm also incredibly relieved to share an update on my back. After two solid weeks of throwing me for a loop, I am finally on the mend thanks to a much-needed therapy massage, which means I've actually been able to spend some proper time with my needle and thread again.

We have plenty of stitchy updates to dive into today, including progress on my "Life at the Cottage" and "Museum After Midnight" stitch-alongs, a confession about a major signpost mishap on my "Flower Prairie" DIY piece, and a mountain of beautiful confetti stitches on "Cat Dragon House". Plus, I am so incredibly grateful for the amazing response to my latest cross-stitch pattern release, "Carl's Creed" - thank you so much to everyone who has picked up a copy! I'll also be sharing a peek at the new pattern folder system I've recently set up to tame my digital and physical pattern stash, and asking a serious question about book-series pacing. If you've ever deliberately slowed down your reading just to stretch out the joy of a new obsession, please tell me I'm not the only one!

Grab a cuppa and your current project, because we have *so* much to catch up on today..! I am freshly back from Stitch-Con, and my mind (and suitcase) is absolutely overflowing. I'm sharing a look at the incredible gifts, freebie bin treasures, and swag I came home with, plus the beautiful fabric, patterns, and needleminders I couldn't resist buying. It was such a surreal, wonderful three and a half days—including the incredibly wild experience of being recognised by six total strangers!

I also have some exciting finishes to share, including one I actually crossed the finish line on while at the retreat (yes, I got to ring the celebratory gong!). Plus, we check in on my current WIPs, including a sneaky look at an upcoming Dungeon Crawler Carl-themed design I'm working hard to release next week.

On the real-life front, it's been a mix of birthday parties, a quick update on my post-tattoo blood donation, and a classic parenting "d'oh!" moment involving Father's Day gifts that were completely forgotten while I was away.

This episode is very heavily focused on works-in-progress, which is honestly my favourite place to be. FlossTube #122 - Even More WIPs, Secret Projects, and 'Firefly' Fever23 Mar 202600:29:39

It has been a very busy few weeks, and my hoop (or rather, my MANY hoops!) has been full. I’m leaning even further into the work-in-progress life today with updates on *eight* different projects, including my progress on "Extraordinary Birds" and a very nostalgic return to my "Firefly" sampler. There’s also a new pattern release to celebrate — thank you all so much for the lovely reception for the "Introverted Club" design!

Beyond the stitching, my husband and I have been working on a 'Super Secret Project' behind the scenes for what feels like ages. I’m equal parts nervous and excited to finally start talking about it. FlossTube #121 - A WIP Heavy Update, Flow State, and the Final Zodiac09 Mar 202600:27:54

It has been a very work-in-progress-heavy fortnight around here! Between finding a sudden flow state with a brand new design and making some serious headway on the new "Post-Apocalypse Fantasy" piece, my needle has hardly had a rest. I also share the bittersweet joy of finally releasing "Zodiac: Pisces," which marks the completion of my year-long Zodiac series. It’s a lovely feeling to see a long-term project reach the finish line.

Beyond the hoops, life has been a bit of a mixed bag. I’ve been dealing with some frustrating computer issues and a rather literal "ouch" moment after trying a new skincare product. I even had my very first encounter with being pulled over by the police for something incredibly silly!

Despite the IRL hiccups, the stitching has been a grounding constant, from the fiddly feathers of a peacock to the slow growth of my HAED.

Some things I would love your feedback on:

  1. Now that the individual signs are finished, how would you like to see a "Zodiac Series Overall" pattern? Should it be a single large layout, and do you think it’s something I should offer as a free resource for the community?
  2. I’ve been musing about a video showing every single WIP I have—active or tucked away. Is a "WIP Parade" something you’d enjoy watching, or do you prefer sticking to the active rotations?
  3. I went from idea to full design to first stitches in a single day this week. When was the last time you felt that "flow state" where you just couldn't put the needle down?

FlossTube #120 - Why I Unpicked Part of My Finished Piece + Big, Exciting News!23 Feb 202600:24:41

We're back with more stitchy goodness! This past fortnight has been a bit of a whirlwind here. Between mid-winter break with my girls and two days of beautiful snowfall, I've had plenty of time to huddle up with my stitching. I finally finished the Flower Dragon Meadow SAL, and after a little bit of "frog therapy" on a strawberry dragon, I am absolutely in love with the new yellow replacement. Plus, I have a brand new pattern release to share: "Boy Band", inspired by the Saja Boys (from "K-Pop Demon Hunters"). It's full of fire, fashion, and beautiful colours!

We're also checking in on a mountain of WIPs, from the slow "reveal" of the "Fairytale" HAED SAL to some of the final stitches on my "Zodiac: Pisces" pattern, which completes the entire series! I've also been doing some 'retail therapy' with a haul from nathnolu and FlossyFoxShop — because one can never have too many patterns in their stash.

The biggest news of all? I'm headed to Stitch-Con this June! I'm already dreaming about my travel projects and what to pack.

  1. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the new 'Boy Band' pattern and the progress on 'Deserving Joy'—do they feel like something you'd add to your stash? Also, did I make the right call on the dragon recolour, or would you have left the red one in?

FlossTube #113 - Bookmark Design Reveal, New Pattern & a Massive Stitchy Haul18 Nov 202500:26:11

This episode ended up packed to the brim, even if it hasn't been the week I'd planned (hence why this is a day late!). I finally get to show you my finished bookmark design from 'Spellbound Stitches Volume 5: Bookmark Book', which has been the world's longest tease [sorry, not sorry?]. I'm also chatting about my brand-new pattern "'Tism Spoon": a funny, neurospicy little design based off a current online meme.

There's plenty of new stitchy goodness to talk about, too: the latest "Zodiac: Scorpio" pattern is now live, alongside a new blog post covering Leo through Scorpio in the 'Zodiac' series. I also treated myself to a few new patterns (and some gorgeous linen!) from NeedleLot Designs and Barbara Ana Designs — I just had to. And yes... I actually followed through and launched my new mini talk show series on social media! Two episodes are out already, with plans to post new ones each Wednesday.

Of course, I've still been busy with my WIPs — from "Flower Meadow" nearing its finish line, to a new blackwork cat I'm stitching as a Christmas gift for my youngest. There's even a cheeky new piece in progress inspired by internet "rating spoons" memes — because why not? A huge drop in the number of works-in-progress compared to last FlossTube, but I've made so much progress, though! Which you can't be upset about… right? 😅

I didn't really plan long term on releasing multiple cross-stitch patterns last week, but I'm glad I made it work and managed to get them both out on time. I am genuinely curious on what you think about the pattern I was a little mysterious about last fortnight. I'm a fan of the colours, the simplicity of the design and surprised at how much I enjoyed working on it..! So let me know what you think in the comments below.

🗈 The "FlossTube Celebration" kit had some hiccups, growing pains, etc. with it, so I'm really curious about what you thought about the whole thing — whether you purchased a kit or not. I did get some helpful (albeit difficult to read objectively) piece of feedback already, but I would love for more info points!
The reason being; I was thinking I might continue doing something similar to this in the future! But if there isn't any(/very little) interest in it, then I will spend my efforts elsewhere. Yanno?

I love being able to see the progress made on things like my works-in-progress between each FlossTube episode. I didn't get as much stitching done as I 'normally' would, because of summer break, but it is probably more than I would've realised without being able to compare fortnight-to-fortnight. I hope you enjoy seeing the progression, too!

This fortnight I struggled to get started with the recording (for some reason) but we covered a lot before I had to rush off to collect my daughter:
