First stop is destination number 795: Games of Chance. Tony aside, we’re a decidedly non-sportive panel, so take the low-down you get from us on breaking the bank at Monte Lukast with just a soupçon of salt.

From there we stagger to the safer ground of destination number 741: Drawing and Drawings. Which of our cack-handed talking heads has the gall to hold forth on this subject? Walk with us and find out, and then we’ll take you back to Tony’s shed for a lovely cup of tea. If nothing else, it’ll do your calves some good.

First stop is destination number 323: Young People. Can any of our panel remember being young people? Have they ever even met any? Prepare junior ears for a shellacking.

From there we drag our dilapidated carcasses to the nursing home of destination number 843: French fiction. We all know that the principle French fiction is that the English are all bastards. But can we add anything above and beyond this well-established slander? Find out with us as we take the country air, and then we can toddle back to Tony’s shed and pop the kettle on. If nothing else, you can tell your GP you’ve got some exercise.

Hello, and completely welcome to Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club!

Come and join in as President Tony takes us gently by the lungs and leads us on a whistle-stop tour of two special destinations chosen entirely at random with the use of his enchanted bingo machine. As ever, the omniscient voice of Stephen Fry is on hand to let us know where we’re going and what for.

First stop is destination number 735: Sculpture from the 1400s. All of the gang are heavily marbled with fat, but will this translate into knowledge of marble in general? Are they Renaissance men or renouncers of culture?

From there our trio take a running jump at destination 862: Spanish drama. The bingo machine is taking the piss. And since the gang are plumbing the depths of their ignorance today, we add in a third destination so you aren’t getting short-changed on this week’s podcast.

The third destination is 987: the Republic of Venezuela from 1830 onwards. Should they just throw in the towel straight away? Maybe wiser men would. Find out what our idiots three do instead, and then amble gently back down the lane to Tony’s shed, where the coffee’s in the percolator. If nothing else, you can boast to your friends of your healthy country lifestyle.

Julian Clary- "They Can't Touch You For It"

Hello, and resoundingly welcome to an extra-special episode of Tony Slattery’s Rambing Club! This is an auspicious and momentous occasion, for not only is this our fifth anniversary, it’s also the very first Rambling Club to feature a special guest star. That’s right! Joining us to trudge the darkling lanes this evening is none other than stand-up comedy legend and author, Mr Julian Clary.

Buoyed by the presence of a healthy new member, the club rushes off to destination 893: Afro-Asiatic Literature. At least there’s some diversity of subject matter in today’s episode, if not particularly in our panel.

From there we totter gamely to destination 355: Military Science. Are any of our heroes in any kind of position to share state secrets and risk reigniting the Cold War with their insider knowledge on the latest army hardware? Perhaps so; they’re a butch lot.

Then it’s a brisk march to destination 421: English Writing Systems and Phonology, so the chaps break out the dictionary and scratch their heads as they grapple to come to terms with what their lives have become.

Once they’ve finished with their very wrong ideas, it’s time to strut cockily back down the garden path to Tony’s shed, where the cocoa’s on the boil. If nothing else, you can say you spent the hour with two comedy legends (and two halfwits).

Come and join in as President Tony takes us gently by the entrails and leads us on a whistle-stop tour of two special destinations chosen entirely at random with the use of his enchanted bingo machine. As ever, the omniscient voice of Stephen Fry is on hand to let us know whither and whence we’re going.

First stop is destination number 842:

Transition and Renaissance periods 1400-1600. An arty subject, our supertramps three like nothing better than holding forth on an arty subject.

From there they proceed to surf the trickier waters of destination 358: Other Specialised Military Forces and Services. Listen to the gang try desperately not to say anything that would piss off the sort of people who could kill them using only a plate of lukewarm spaghetti hoops. Once they run out of guesswork on that

subject, there’s a false start on a bonus ramble when they land on destination 524: No Longer Used. Find out what our ramblers manage to make of that, and then toddle briskly down the garden path to Tony’s shed, where there’s a lovely primus stove roaring away to warm you up. If nothing else, you can use it to kindle a wicker man of your very own.

First stop is destination number 637: processing dairy and related products. Fortunately, as is well-known, Tony’s milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, so he is well able to take the lead on this one.

Then, whisking us away, and none too soon at that, the magic bingo machine takes us on to destination 296.4: traditions and rites. Wait, when did the bingo machine start using decimal points? Never mind, we can have a lovely chat about the private rituals we each perform in the comfort of our own bathrooms, and then toddle briskly down the garden path to Tony’s shed, where we’ll be popping the kettle on. If nothing else, it’s a soothing noise to help work the caffeine through the old system there.

Hello, and unutterably welcome to Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club! It’s another special guest episode this week, with comedian and presenter Robin Ince joining us, and Stephen Fry as the voice of the bingo machine, as we take another Friday evening ramble.

First stop is destination number 149: other philosophical systems and doctrines. Is there a doctrine in the house? Our team express the philosophies dearest to them that help them make order of a disordered cosmos, or possibly they take potshots at half-understood controversies.

Then the ever-spinning karmic wheel of the bingo machine takes us on to destination 458: standard Italian language. As opposed to fancy Italian language? It all sounds pretty fancy when you don't understand a word of it. Stay with our passel of goons as they bluff their way through that, and then meander grudgingly down the garden path to Tony’s shed, where the cocoa is on the boil. It's the Church of Rambling way.
