| Ep.229 No Need For Table Flips (Dancia - Board Games) | 26 May 2024 | 01:00:04 | |
(Dancia - Board Games)
In this episode, I had the honour of having Dancia as my guest. They shared with me their interest in board games as their hobby.
Definition: Board games are tabletop games that typically use pieces. These pieces are moved or placed on a pre-marked board (playing surface) and often include elements of table, card, role-playing, and miniatures games as well. Many board games feature a competition between two or more players. To show a few examples: in checkers (British English name 'draughts'), a player wins by capturing all opposing pieces, while Eurogames often end with a calculation of final scores. Pandemic is a cooperative game where players all win or lose as a team, and peg solitaire is a puzzle for one person.Wikipedia contributors. (2024, May 14). Board game. | Ep.228 Let The Brush Tell The Story (Connor - Oil Painting) | 31 Mar 2024 | 00:48:58
(Connor - Oil Painting)
In this episode, I had the honour of having Connor as my guest. He shared with me his interest in oil painting as his hobby.
Definition: Oil painting is a painting method involving the procedure of painting with pigments with a medium of drying oil as the binder. It has been the most common technique for artistic painting on canvas, wood panel or copper for several centuries, spreading from Europe to the rest of the world. The advantages of oil for painting images include "greater flexibility, richer and denser colour, the use of layers, and a wider range from light to dark". But the process is slower, especially when one layer of paint needs to be allowed to dry before another is applied. Wikipedia contributors. (2024, February 13). Oil painting. (Javier - Poetry)
In this episode, I had the honour to have Javier as my guest. He shared with me his interest in poetry as his hobby.
Definition: Poetry (derived from the Greek poiesis, "making"), also called verse, is a form of literature that uses aesthetic and often rhythmic qualities of language − such as phonaesthetics, sound symbolism, and metre − to evoke meanings in addition to, or in place of, a prosaic ostensible meaning. A poem is a literary composition, written by a poet, using this principle.Wikipedia contributors. (2023, June 6). Poetry. In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. | Ep.129 They're Moving On Up! (Megan - Dice Stacking) | 14 Feb 2021 | 00:27:00
(Megan - Dice Stacking)
In this episode, I had the honour to have Megan as my guest. She shared with me her interest in dice stacking as her hobby.
Dice aren’t only used for board games or gambling, there’s a relatively new way to use dice, and that’s stacking them. It’s more challenging than it looks. Before the interview, I gave it a try and couldn’t even get one die in the cup. Megan continuously challenges her self by trying new tricks to stack these dice. At this point, she can even stack dice with both hands at the same time and even blindfolded. The cool thing about dice stacking is that you can challenge yourself and stack it on almost anything. As Megan and I discussed, it might not be a good idea to stack the dice on the family dog.

In this episode, I had the honour to have Deshawn as my guest. He shared with me his interest in bowling as his hobby.
Physics is your friend, your body is the only challenger to make the laws of physics work out for you. In this case, I’m talking about how the laws of physics apply to bowl. If done right, you can strikes a perfect game if everything was done to perfection. My guest Deshawn, almost achieve this by getting all strikes except for the first one. I have no doubt that he will soon get a perfect game, maybe even a few! Interestingly enough the bowling gen runs in Deshawn’s family. According to Deshawn, it’s only a few years after he picked up the hobby that he learned that his father also enjoys the activity. Now his new challenge is to beat his father in a bowling game.

In this episode, I had the honour to have Slavicka as my guest. She shared with me her interest in hula hoop dancing as her hobby.
Hula hoops may seem like a simple circle at first but it has the capability to get your body moving. For Slaicka, she enjoys combining hula hooping with dancing because it allows her to get a full-body workout and also groove to some awesome tunes. One of Slvicka’s biggest challenges with hula hooping was to work on her patience and trying to master a move right away. However like everything in life, the more you do it, the better you will become and you might even end up creating something completely different and make it your own.

Deep down inside there’s a Bob Ross in all of us, you just need a little spark of inspiration and maybe a happy tree. Curt pulls a lot of inspiration from Bob Ross’s work but likes to add his personal touch to it to make it more of his own taste and that pretty much the whole concept of being a passionate artist. If you want to get started with painting but don’t know where to start, you can do what Curt did and buy a Bob Ross kit on Amazon, because the first step is always giving it a try.

(Justin - Disc Golf)
In this episode, I had the honour to have Justin as my guest. He shared with me his interest in disc golf as his hobby.
Why limit yourself to traditional golf when you can try new ways to get a hole in one? With that being said Justin enjoys to play golf with a disc, hence the name of disc golf. The cool part about this sport/ hobby is that you can pretty much play it anywhere outside, heck you can even play it indoors if you want to break a few things. Unlike traditional golf, the wind plays a more significant role on the movement of the disc so it's important to find the right time to throw or else you might lose your disc and find someone else while you’re searching for your own disc.

Archery has allowed Dustin to connect to his routes and learn more about his ancestor. He mentions that in combat bow arrows can do something that guns can’t do. Do you know what that is? Arrows can curve and hit targets behind other objects, unless you’re from the movie Wanted, I’m pretty sure guns can’t do that . We can’t all be Robin Hood, Katniss Everdeen, Hawkeye, Legolas or Cupid. But if you keep practicing, you can get pretty close.

Do you hear that? That’s the sound to the sound barrier being broken by a whip. Physics plays an interesting role with a whip and its even powerful enough to snap a can of pop in half. Justin enjoys to play around with the whip, he doesn’t simply fling his arm to crack the whip, he tries to do more and more complexe and cool tricks. He can crack whips with 2 hands, flip them, role it off his neck. He has a lot of tricks up his sleeves, well in this case he has those tricks in his hands. (Richard - Playing Video Games)
In this episode, I had the honour to have Richard as my guest. He shared with me his interest in playing video games as his hobby.
Definition: A video game[a] or computer game is an electronic game that involves interaction with a user interface or input device – such as a joystick, controller, keyboard, or motion sensing device – to generate visual feedback. This feedback is shown on a video display device, such as a TV set, monitor, touchscreen, or virtual reality headset. Video games are often augmented with audio feedback delivered through speakers or headphones, and sometimes with other types of feedback, including haptic technology. Computer games are not all video games—for example text adventure games, chess, and so on do not depend upon a graphics display. Wikipedia contributors. (2022, February 10). Video game. In this episode, I had the honour to have Nichelle as my guest. She shared with me her interest in medieval recreation as her hobby.
Recreation of a history allows you to better understand the way of life of people from different time periods. For Nichelle, medieval age is her favourite because she enjoys meeting with her friends and try to live the way people back then lived. Why buy a metal spoon at Walmart, when you can make it? Why buy outfits in a store when you can make it? The easy answer is that buying it is easier but when you make it you get to customize it any way you want and you created something. Nichelle and her group can almost recreate anything from the medieval age, their imagination is their only limit.

Instruments have the ability to create a mood for any kind of situation. Happy moment? Instruments have a sound for that! Sad moment? Instruments have a sound for that! Neutral moment? Of course, there are instruments that have a sound for that! I don't know about you but out of all the instruments, the violin is for sure my favorite, and Selina was generous enough to share why she enjoys playing the violin. (Iszi - Japanese Jujutsu)
In this episode, I had the honour to have Iszi as my guest. She shared with me her interest in Japanese Jujutsu as her hobby.
Quick! Off the top of your head, what is the difference between Japanese Jujutsu and Brazilian Jujutsu. Don’t know the answer, well I guess you will have to listen to this episode where Iski goes into great detail to explain the differences and how Japanese Jujutsu played a significant role in her life. She also mentions in the episode that when it comes to protecting yourself there’s no such thing as a cheap shot. Use whatever you have to protect yourself. It’s also important to understand to never underestimate your opponent, they might be hiding a special technique that might throw you off (literally and metaphorically).

In this episode, I had the honour to have McKenzie as my guest. She shared with me her interest in metal detecting as her hobby.
Metal detecting has multiple benefits for yourself and the environment around you. First of all when you go metal detecting, you can find some pretty cool items that may have some historic significance. Secondly you’re helping clean up the environment from littering. From those two points of view it's a win-win situation. Why not give it a try, I’m sure you’ll find some interesting within 50 meters from where you live. Unless you live in the middle of the ocean, you might have to go a little deep to find something cool.

In this episode, I had the honour to have Stephen as my guest. He shared with me his interest in blacksmithing as his hobby.
Iron man from the Marvel comics created his first suit of armour through the process of blacksmithing. In other words, blacksmithing is an old practice but is still pretty cool to do in mordern times and in Iron Man's case, it saved his life and made it much better. For Stephen case, being a black smith indeed made his life better because he now has the ability to forge awesome tools and knives that will last a very long time. Stephen mentioned that some of his most interesting work started off with a general idea and then from there it just became something better than what he had planed.

In this episode, I had the honour to have Shtim as my guest. He shared with me his interest in Minecraft world building as his hobby.
What if I told you that there's a game, simple in concept but has the limitless possibility for wonderful creations? You're in luck because that game is Minecraft. But here's the twist, its not simply Minecraft... its building a functional society in Minecraft to represent anything you want. Shtim plays in a Minecraft server that does its best to recreate architectural structures from a specific time period. What is even cooler is that this world works like a normal society. you have people with jobs to create news papers, you can go to prison for committing a crime, you can even have organized protests if you do not agree with a specific law or point of view. They can pretty much do anything in this society. However, there has been one big challenge where they have yet be able to find a perfect answer. Listen to the episode to find out what it is. Maybe you might have a solution that works.

In this episode, I had the honour to have Kim as my guest. She shared with me her interest in floral art as her hobby.
Living art can create beautiful masterpieces that doesn't only look good for the eyes, but also might smell very pleasant. Kim has transformed her floral art over the years to give that little Kim magical touch. She found interesting ways to include random items to the floral art the enhance the presentation of her work. She also gave a little tip that can be pretty helpful for those who might be interested in picking up this hobby. She said that dome flowers have shorter stems and a cool trick to make it longer while still feeding the flower, is to remove the stem and replace it with a wooden toothpick. The wooden tooth pick would absorb the water and carry it to the flower. For Kim, where there's a will there a way.

In this episode, I had the honour to have McCollonough as my guest. She shared with me her interest in painting envelopes as her hobby.
We live in a time where you for sure get more emails than envelopes, so when ever you get an envelope in the mail you might get a little more excited (except when its bills, that's no fun by mail or email). To make the experience even better Mccollonough decided to take it one step further to add her personal touch of painting the envelopes. There's something about getting a colourful envelope in the mail that makes you instantly feel more connected to it and pumped to open it. Throughout this episode you will get to learn why Mccollonough enjoys sending them to people from all walks of life.

(Amber - Novelist)
In this episode, I had the honour to have Amber as my guest. She shared with me her interest in being a novelist as her hobby.
Amber has always been a big fan for books and creating stories. For most people who grew up before the year 2000, most of the stories were written on on the ultimate skin cutter (paper). Amber still owns her first binder with many stories written on paper. However, as the years went by and technology developed, Amber preferred using a computer since its much easier to change something without tearing the paper while erasing. Currently Amber is in film school to become a screen writer and thanks to her hobby of writing novels, it allowed her to find new and creative ways to bring her stories to life.

| Ep.215 Let’s Animate Life! (Daniel - Indie Animation) | 26 Feb 2023 | 00:57:54 | |
(Daniel - Indie Animation)
In this episode, I had the honour to have Danielas my guest. He shared with me his interest in making indie animation as his hobby.
Definition: Animation is a method by which still figures are manipulated to appear as moving images. In traditional animation, images are drawn or painted by hand on transparent celluloid sheets to be photographed and exhibited on film. Today, most animations are made with computer-generated imagery (CGI). Computer animation can be very detailed 3D animation, while 2D computer animation (which may have the look of traditional animation) can be used for stylistic reasons, low bandwidth, or faster real-time renderings. Other common animation methods apply a stop motion technique to two- and three-dimensional objects like paper cutouts, puppets, or clay figures. Wikipedia contributors. (2022, November 16).
