92: Ticket 2 | What is Overtourism, and How Do We Stop It?
14 Aug 2024
00:53:45
Barcelona. Venice. Paris. Amsterdam. Bali. Machu Picchu. The Great Barrier Reef. These are all popular tourist destinations - maybe even TOO popular. How has overtourism impacted a city? Is overtourism a pro or a con?
During Leah’s most recent travels to the Netherlands, she hung out with friends that lived outside of the popular, Amsterdam. A large discussion was had when they told her about the minor changes being done to prevent more overtourism in the city. This led to learning and hearing more from locals, articles, etc. about the impacts of what tourism can do for the people living there.
What are your thoughts of overtourism while traveling, and what feasible suggestion(s) do you have to help combat the negative effects of it?

00:49:25
This episode has been a LONG TIME COMING. Introducing: Our Top 10 Favorite Places in the World. In each of these special trips, we talk about why we love that particular place, best way to use transport there or how to get there, any hot tips or travel advice to keep in mind, any must-dos, must-see, or what to eat while there, and even recommend accommodation.
The standard answer to anyone asking "What's your favorite place you've been to?" is usually something cheesy like "Every place has their own special qualities," HOWEVER if the stakes were high and we HAD to choose, Trizzy and Leah have each picked a top 5 favorites place to travel.

20 Sep 2023
00:42:15

Even though Leah is a first-generation Filipino-American, she didn't truly feel connected to or understand her Filipino roots until going off to university.
Listen in on the stories, questions, and anecdotes to make us think more carefully about the way we celebrate history versus heritage.

Visiting Hawaii shouldn't be a topic of contention, but it is! As often and as much as we go, sometimes it's an internal battle thinking "are we contributing to the overtourism?"
Not to shame anyone that travels to this tropical American paradise just 6 hours west of California (we believe it's literal paradise on Earth & should be explored properly and enjoyed), but at what cost to the locals and animals? This episode is a thinkpiece and our personal experiences on why you should (and SHOULD NOT) visit the Aloha State.

46: Ticket 2 | Traveling as Asian-American and LGBTQ+ Women

This episode is sponsored by Rhino, a social app that focuses on diversity in travel, and enables people from every background to share and discover travel experiences through photo and video. Download Rhino for free today in the Apple App Store or in Google Play.
Here's something we haven't spoken much about on Ticket 2 Anywhere Podcast: our identities. We chat plenty about what kind of traveler we are, the easiest way to see places, and how we travel, but in this episode we got to dig into the root of who we really are. With Leah being Asian-American and Trizzy being Asian-American and LGBTQ+, we're proud of who we are and honor to travel the way that we do, in hopes to spread kindness and understanding across the globe.
We were both raised to respect all races and cultures, but what happens when you travel to a place that doesn't necessarily do the same? This episode details how we plan travel around safety and acceptance, what resources we tap into, and our experiences around the world.
What makes Rhino different is you can create a profile to add your identity, and all your experiences and photos will be added to that community! Rhino is challenging the travel industry's one-size-fits-all approach and aims to center perspectives that are often sidelined. Download Rhino for free today in the Apple App Store or in Google Play.

45: Ticket 2 | The Rise of Good People Making Good Coffee (Local Edition: West LA)
22 Jun 2022
00:44:38
We are starting a new series that highlights local business owners and dives into life, business, travel, and literally anything else they want to talk about... because we all know local shops are the backbone of any community, and we try to show them the love they deserve. Trizzy and Leah buy and support local wherever they go, whether it's shopping in Southeast Asia or right here at home in Los Angeles.
Our first "Local Edition" guest is Chuck Herrera of Good People Coffee Company in West Los Angeles, California.
This coffee shop is special to us because one cool LA morning in October, Trizzy made Leah run the Santa Monica stairs with her & then we both tried Good People Coffee Co for the first time - where the idea of our podcast "Ticket 2 Anywhere" was born.
