Endorse this climate initiative NOW and share!01 Sep 202200:35:32

Podcast Intro:

We are now experiencing extreme weather events and conditions predicted for 30 years or more. And this is just the beginning. This is the hour when Mother Nature gets rolling.

The important thing for people to realize is that the EPA has many levers under the Toxic Substances Control Act. For example, they can regulate the industry with a fee and dividend so that they charge taxes on the fossil fuel industry. And those taxes are 100% refunded to the public, based on the public's financial needs.

Dr. Lise Van Susteren is an expert on climate change's physical and psychological impacts and was behind implementing the Toxic Substances Control Act. Today, Cate and Lise Van Susteren will talk about the power of the Toxic Substances Control Act and its effect on large industries, how politics is hugely involved in protecting the environment, and the emotional effect on every individual.

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

  • How does Toxic Substance Control Act work?
  • How large can the Toxic Substances Control Act affects industries?
  • How the Politics block things, not the public?
  • How do environmental problems affect an individual’s emotional state?

Links/CTA:

Deciding that carbon dioxide is a toxic substance defined by law would only be the first step. The EPA would have to formulate and implement rules that could, for example, impose a fee on carbon emissions and require companies to remove carbon from the atmosphere they have already expelled.

But it’s all there in black and white in the Toxic Substances Control Act, which passed and was amended with bipartisan support. Textualists will have to tie themselves in knots to explain why the law’s words don’t mean what they clearly say.

Highlights:

  • Cate tells her story when she is at Carleton College in the year 1995.
  • Cate tells her story about when she was in the Massachusetts high schools
  • Cate tells her insights about Elon Musk’s Electric Cars

  • [30:11]  Can the next administration reverse the Toxic Substances Control Act
  • [31:16] What can people do
  • [33:19] Elon Musk’s Electric Cars

Quotes:

  • Frankly, it's not the public so much anymore. It's the political world that is blocking things. And it's just a few people.
  • You get the people who care the most, are the most sensitive, and they'll become the most depressed and despondent on not wanting to reproduce.
  • If we want to change society, it's by connecting with the people that were connected to. So that's one of the key elements that people don't always realize.
  • We have the power to design the future the way we want, the way we know, and we should, ethically.
  • We're spending about $150 billion a year on cleanup. And suppose you take the national average inflation-adjusted. In that case, that's about three times the amount in the 40 years before the last five years and three times the annual amount we used to need to clean up after extreme weather.

Blood-Clotting Side-Effects from Covid MRNA Vaccines with Dr. Stephanie Seneff18 Aug 202201:01:56

Podcast Intro:

Many individuals compare some of the long-term side effects people are experiencing to long-term COVID after receiving the vaccine. According to estimates, 30% of those who catch COVID develop a long COVID. But it's an unknown factor.

The countries where glyphosate is widely used are those where it accumulates in crops and enters the food chain. Glyphosate exposure, which we frequently experience, interferes with our immune system's ability to combat the virus. Everyone who received the vaccine is suffering from the same impact. If you have a strong immune system, you can handle the vaccine.

Dr. Stephanie Seneff is a senior researcher at MIT and has been working on studies with mRNA vaccines. Today, Cate and Dr. Stephanie will talk about COVID, COVID vaccines, how food affects an individual’s immune system, and how glyphosate plays an essential role in agriculture.

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

  • How to tell the difference between longtail COVID symptoms and vaccine effects
  • How glyphosate disrupts the innate immune system
  • How spike protein starts damage within our body
  • How vaccines make it worse
  • How glyphosate plays an essential role in agriculture
  • How vaccinated people can still shed virus
  • How vaccinations impact fertility
  • How do someone clear heavy periods and massive blood clots

Highlights:

  • Cate tells the story about how she goes to the mountain and eats wild plants
  • Cate shares a story about dandelions weren’t picking up toxins from oil.

  • [51:19] Reason for high obesity in America
  • [54:25] Intermittent fasting and urine therapy
  • [56:02] Freedom of speech as a scientist and funding

Quotes:

  • I've long believed that stress is an agent that induces accelerated evolution. It probably does. Through the viruses, once you have and have stress, your immune system is weak, and the viruses come in and take over.
  • The herbs are so important. The American diet kind of ignores those things. It's just potato chips and hamburgers and soy protein bars.
  • Nitrous oxide is 100 times worse than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas.
  • I think you need to have a healthy immune system if you've got a weak innate immunity. Everything's going to happen slower because you depend upon your immune cells to remove the things that are bad, and it's particularly the spike protein itself.

Emotional Inflammation in a Crazy World on a Sacred Planet with Dr. Lise Van Susteren11 Aug 202200:50:46

Podcast Intro:

When it comes to climate change, we've all heard about droughts and flooding and the impact on agriculture and infrastructure from extreme weather events such as hurricanes. However, we may not hear as much about climate change's physical and mental health consequences.

Natural disasters can negatively impact health and emotional well-being. People who are affected by extreme weather events and slow-moving disasters, such as droughts, face a wide range of challenges in their lives. Mental health repercussions of climate change events include mild stress and anguish, high-risk coping behaviors such as increased alcohol use, and occasionally mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Dr. Lise Van Susteren is an expert on climate change's physical and psychological impacts. She earned her Ph.D. in Geography at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, and has been researching climate change since 2007. She has written several books on the subject, including The Heat Is On: The Science, Politics, and Solutions to Global Warming (2016) and The Climate Crisis: Dispatches from the Front Lines (2017). In this episode, she shares knowledge on climate change, how it affects the health of many people, and what actions we must take to get better.

Evolve Men with Angus Nelson04 Aug 202201:08:10

Podcast Intro:

Men are expected to be strong and mighty. This causes them to keep everything to themselves, not wanting to appear weak. They often keep their emotions to themselves as they believe that they will be used against them once they show their weakness. What If You’re NOT Eating Organic?14 Jul 202200:56:14

Podcast Intro:

Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup, the world's most commonly used weed killer. Over 300 million pounds of glyphosate-based herbicide are sprayed on farms and foods yearly. Agrochemical companies claim that glyphosate is safe for humans, animals, and the environment. But scientific studies suggest otherwise.

Glyphosate has created a deadly disruption of the gut microbiome. Its effect on protein synthesis and the body’s ability to use and transport sulfur has greatly affected human health for the past decade.

In this episode, Dr. Stephanie Seneff talks about the effects of Glyphosate and how it is destroying our Health and Environment. She also talks about what happens if you don’t eat organic food and its immense effect on the human body.

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

  • Sulfate is a vastly overlooked molecule playing many crucial roles in human metabolism.
  • Glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup) greatly disturbs sulfate homeostasis in the body.
  • Many biologically active molecules containing carbon rings transport sulfate throughout the body.
  • Heparan sulfate is a complex sulfated polysaccharide that populates the extracellular matrix of most cells and is essential for the lysosomes to recycle cellular debris. It also controls neurodevelopment in the brain.
  • Heparan sulfate deficiency in the brain ventricles is a characteristic feature of autism in humans and mice.
  • Serotonin is an important neurotransmitter whose deficiency is associated with obesity, depression, and violent behavior. Serotonin is produced in large quantities in the gut and then sulfated before being transported to the brain.
  • Cholesterol sulfate, synthesized in the skin in response to sunlight, is another important source of sulfate for the brain and the body.
  • Endothelial nitric oxide synthase synthesizes nitric oxide and sulfur dioxide, switching between the two based on received signals from the blood.
  • Nitrate and sulfate are the yin and yang controlling blood flow.
  • Why you should eat Organic Foods
  • What is Glyphosate
  • How Chemicals and Pesticides affect the Human Body
  • How the Body Breaks down Glyphosate
  • Why Organic Foods are Essential to the Human Body
  • How Glyphosate is destroying our Health and Environment
  • What happens when you ferment the cruciferous?

Highlights:

  • Cate says that one of the things she sees with not having natural childbirth much in this country in the last 100 years is they take that power away from a woman to have a conscious birth, and then now she's going to be less protective of her yard. She will be less protective of the food she's putting in their body. And it's all these breakdowns that happened in human consciousness.
  • Cate shares the article in The New York Times that their idea to help farmers is number one.
  • Cate says that the number one thing people think people can do is get involved with local farmers, promote organic, pay more, eat less, and eat healthily.

Quotes:

  • “People are smart. The problem is they don't understand the need for avoiding the toxic chemicals in everything that they do. We have to always think about safety first because there are so many chemicals we're putting out into the environment with inadequate study. We don't realize how toxic these things can be.”
  • “Fermentation is complicated because it can actually introduce new metabolites that could be toxic. But it also takes away metabolites that are toxic. Things are not toxic if your livers are working. Enzymes in the liver are crucial for metabolizing many of these complex molecules that are made by these microbes, and so it becomes liver toxic if the liver can't use those enzymes to break it down.”
  • “As you're not being poisoned, your body can handle things like sunlight very well and use it to its advantage to using it as a source of energy. But the things that you need to do that get messed up by the poisons, then it becomes toxic.”
  • “Go buy organic and explain to your neighbors and relatives why they should also go buy organic and get them to do it.”

Addiction Recovery with Durga Leela07 Jul 202200:59:03

Podcast Intro:

Durga Leela (a spiritual name) is a person in long-term recovery, a certified Ayurveda Practitioner, yoga teacher, and yoga therapist (IAYT certified) from the UK and now based in the US. She has shared Yoga as a Recovery Pathway in several Recovery Conferences over the last 20 years. She has also served as the Director of the Ayurveda Programs at the Sivananda Ashram in California since 2003 and is a professional member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA).

In this episode, she shares her journey of healing and recovery from addiction. She also talks about the issues of Health Care regarding addiction, how she used Yoga to heal from alcoholism, and the emotional and mental health issues surrounding addiction.

Personal story

  • being a child of an alcoholic,
  • becoming alcoholic myself in my teens,
  •  finding yoga in my mid-20s,
  • a few suicide attempts
  • and losing my mother to alcoholism when I was 32 years old.
  • Shortly after, I was fired from a job I was headhunted into. Then I “did a geographic”— moving from London to Lake Tahoe to take a year off and sort myself out. But “wherever you go, there you are,” and after nine months in the United States, my new life was in shambles. I once again felt desperate, but this time I took myself to a meeting of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous)
  • 18 months sober, allopathic medical professionals offered me antidepressants for their diagnosis of clinical depression
  • Book Yoga of Recovery, Integrating Yoga and Ayurveda with Modern Recovery Tools for Addiction - YoR works with people who have a sex addiction, eating disorders, codependents with no substance abuse, and others where substance abuse is present but it is not the primary presenting issue. I work with people 16–84 years old; those who are members of 12-step programs and those who are not. We offer help to those who want to come off the pharmaceuticals they have been prescribed but find they are now dependent on them.

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

We talk about the roots of the addictive behaviors: the main causative factor is the ego, the idea of having disconnection from spirit, disconnection from life.

How Ayurveda is a foundational behavioral health care system that can help people thrive in long-term (emotional) sobriety spread addiction - it's not just about alcohol and drugs! addiction is treated by the acute care model but needs a continuum of care from recovery-oriented systems of care - a chronic care model - and overall CARE rather than CURE which tends to be mainly at the level of pharmaceuticals and surgery - but this does not work so well for problems of addiction article: Ayurveda Journal of Health

  • I truly believe Ayurveda is the best system of behavioral health care for all modern chronic diseases.
  • sobriety, service, and fellowship (the three pillars of 12-step principles)
  • Addiction is a bio-pscyhosocial-emotional-cultural-economic-political, etc.
  • “character defects” that underlie all addictions—the one that is most ubiquitous being our tendency toward codependency—our ability to see in the other what is wrong but not be able to see or deal with it in ourselves
  • “Svastha”— and addiction
  • UT and “Svastha”

  • This was very interesting to me as it fits with what I’d been told in AA—that addiction was a “spiritual malady” and I was “spiritually sick.” Ayurveda describes all diseases as “forgetting our true nature is spirit.”
  • Dr. Harikrishnan, Medical Director of Vaidyagram Ayurvedic Clinic in Coimbatore, India, states, "Addiction arises when we lose the purpose of our life. Vedic literature tells us we only get a human birth after several thousand other lives. The purpose of human life is to evolve, to go to a further level. When you have a bigger purpose, this guides you better in how to live each day.
  • PK and recovery to reset cellularly. Dr. Harikrishnan, “We recommend cleansing the body through PanchaKarma-this eliminates the toxins and allows you a break from the circumstances-time away to cleanse and calm down, introduce new practices, change your lifestyle, and feel the effects of the new habits. It takes three months for food to go to the seventh tissue; within three months, our body is completely changed. Hence it is ideal for spending a minimum of six weeks to three months in a staged recovery process.” YoR offers Ayurvedic Pancha karma retreats in India.
  • Out-of-pocket spending vs. what is covered by gov’t or insurance.
  • The first stage is the deep cleanse; the second stage is learning both the principles and tools of Yoga and Ayurveda to help us make better decisions, and the third stage gives time to offer service to the others-the best way to get out of self. This increases confidence and self-esteem and allows us to share the gifts of our recovery with others. We then go back to live our lives knowing that we have a purpose, feeling calmer and stronger, knowing our capacity, pacifying Vata by eating properly and applying oil daily. (From the Book - online course - YoR Between the mat and the meeting - Ayurveda for our addictiveness; Understanding of our suffering determines the nature of our recovery)

Bone Health, Ayurveda, Osteoporosis and Making Decisions from Your Intuition23 Jun 202200:42:23

Podcast Intro:

What does it mean to put your wisdom into action? What does that mean exactly, and what does it have to do with time? What does this have to do with growing up or getting older? Our bodies should get smarter over time. For wisdom to be embodied, you have to live it, which means you have to do the things you know.

In many ways, we're stuck in allopathic ways of thinking and beliefs. We live in a culture where allopathy is the norm. It's hard to see things from someone else's point of view unless we've somehow risen above our own culture and understood other cultures on a cultural level. Only then do we have the freedom to choose.

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

  • Can you trust yourself?
  • What’s a woman’s I Ching?
  • How can you give yourself your own parameters?

  • “If someone's always been rebelling against our culture, it really changes things rather than if someone's felt like overwhelmed by culture in the past, and that culture steered their decision making and that's ended up in a place that has been lackluster on the personal empowerment front, left something to be desired.”
  • “The idea of saying I will not be discussing this, thinking about this. Because my tendency throughout my life has been to be quiet. Just sit there and be stubborn not to do what people want me to do. But just think about the fact that I'm doing that too much, not just settle with it. Think about it too much. Think about it, okay, I'm stubborn, I'm not doing this thing because the only way I can have control over anything in my life is by not doing the thing.”
  • “From the Vedic tradition, they were very clear about these teachings. If your mind is spinning, you are burning the depth of integrity of your immune system.
