| 312: The Murder of Eric Richins (Kouri Richins) | 12 Mar 2024 | 01:13:38 | |
In the early morning of March 4th, 2022, 33-year-old Kouri Richins called 911 from her home in Kamas, Utah. She said that she'd come back into the bedroom she shared with her 39-year-old husband Eric to find him cold and unresponsive. First responders arrived, but were unable to revive Eric. The father of three was pronounced dead. His autopsy later revealed that he'd ingested about 5 times the lethal amount of Fentanyl. Nobody could believe that Eric had died from a drug overdose. It didn't take long for investigators to zero in on Eric's wife, Kouri. Evidence showed that she'd made significantly poor financial decisions, leaving her in a position that may have led her to commit murder. TRIGGER WARNINGS: drug abuse Hang with us:

| 301: Isabella Guzman | 26 Dec 2023 | 01:05:11 | |
In late August of 2013, Ryan Hoy called the Aurora Colorado Police Department for help. He said that his wife, 47-year-old Yun-Mi, and his 18-year-old stepdaughter, Isabella, were locked in the upstairs bathroom. He could hear his wife yelling for help, but wasn't sure exactly what was going on. Then, he saw blood start to seep underneath the bathroom door and into the hallway. Shortly after, Isabella opened the bathroom door, knife in hand and covered in her mother's blood, and walked down the stairs and out of the home. What could've caused the young girl to commit such a brutal act? Was she suffering from delusions and an untreated mental illness? Or was she simply a master manipulator? Hang with us:

Their mother, Lori Vallow, claimed that they were safe and happy, but refused to tell anyone where they were. Detectives continued to dig into the Vallow family and found a sickening story of extreme religion, demons, zombies, and murder. When officers arrived, they found AJ's mother, Dawn, dead in her bed, from two gunshot wounds to the head. | 288: [FREE Weekly Episode] Serial Killer Jeremy Bryan Jones | 26 Sep 2023 | 01:05:27
On September 21st, 2004, a man was arrested in Mobile, Alabama for the murder of 43-year-old Lisa Marie Nichols. Lisa had been found shot to death in her home, which was then set on fire. 32-year-old John Paul Chapman was taken into custody, but detectives quickly found that the man was actually Jeremy Bryan Jones. Jones was a fugitive after fleeing Oklahoma when his bail was revoked. More concerningly, Jones had been arrested under his 'Chapman' alias three times, and was released each time. Once he was in custody, Jones confessed to over 20 murders. How many people had this man, once described by ADA John Furman as a "low-rent Ted Bundy", actually killed? And could any of them have been prevented if Jones' real identity had been discovered earlier? Trigger Warnings: murder, drug/alcohol abuse, sexual assault Hang with us:

| 287: Melissa Lucio: Child Murderer or Wrongful Conviction? (Part 2) | 19 Sep 2023 | 01:10:14 | |
In 2008, 39-year-old Melissa Lucio became the first Hispanic woman sentenced to death in the state of Texas. She'd been tried and convicted of capital murder in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Mariah Alvarez. On February 17th, 2007, first responders were called to Melissa's home to find Mariah in cardiac arrest. Despite resuscitation efforts, Mariah was pronounced dead at the hospital. She was found covered in bruises, with a cause of death ultimately determined to be from a significant head injury. Melissa had no documented history of abuse, but before investigators had even left her home that night, they'd formed their opinion of what happened, despite Melissa's explanation. Since her sentencing, people across the world have been lobbying on Melissa's behalf, petitioning for a stay of execution and, hopefully, a full exoneration. Was Melissa wrongly convicted and sentenced to death or was she responsible for the death of her youngest child? | 276: The Groene Family Massacre (and the Survival of Shasta Groene) | 04 Jul 2023 | 01:12:17
On a Monday in May of 2005, deputies in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho responded to a call at the Groene residence. When they arrived, they found blood covering the walls and floors of the home. The bodies of the mother, Brenda, her boyfriend, Mark, and Brenda's 13-year-old son, Slade, were lying on the living room floor, clearly victims of a vicious attack. A triple murder was unheard of in the small Idaho town. As they looked around the rest of the home, detectives realized that the two youngest Groenes, 8-year-old Shasta and 9-year-old Dylan were missing. There was no sign of the two anywhere on the property or in the surrounding area. Less than two months later, a waitress at a local Denny's called 911 because she believed that Shasta was sitting in her restaurant. Police arrived to find the missing girl and her abductor, who was arrested immediately. But who was this man who'd committed a triple murder and a double kidnapping? It couldn't have been a first time offender. Most importantly, where was Dylan Groene? TRIGGER WARNINGS: child abuse, child sexual abuse, child murder, torture, violent murder Hang with us:

| Listen Now: Suspect "Five Shots in the Dark" | 26 Jun 2023 | 00:05:56 | |
Leon Benson spent more than half of his life, a total of 24 years, in an Indiana state prison for a murder he didn't commit. Despite the lack of physical evidence and a questionable eyewitness identification, he was convicted. But new realities start to come to light when attorney Lara Bazelon takes up his case and is determined to secure Benson's release. Season three of Suspect, co-produced by Campside Media and Wondery, delves into the flaws in the criminal justice system that led to Benson's wrongful conviction for the 1998 shooting of Kasey Schoen in Indianapolis. The investigation aims to uncover the truth about who really committed the crime and why the eyewitness testimony that led to Benson's conviction was so shaky. Host Matthew Shaer joins co-producer and writer Bazelon to take a deep dive into the nature of memory and how it can be fallible and result in an innocent man's life being wasted, while the real perpetrator remains unpunished. As the investigation unfolds, will Bazelon and her team gather enough evidence to free Benson? And what will happen to Schoen's real killer? While there have been arrests made for some of the murders that have taken place in the area, the vast majority remain unsolved. Some theorize that the area served as a dumping ground for multiple serial killers that were operating in the area, but that has never been proven. Part 1 of 2 ***TRIGGER WARNING*** Abduction / Kidnapping / Rape / Strangulation / Murder All of these are of both adults and teenage girls. Hang with us:

Bercier Wickre, 42. All of these Indigenous women were either murdered or disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Some have been solved, most of them have not. These are just a few names out of thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women in the nation. Many aren't reported and most aren't even investigated properly, leaving loved ones feeling lost, filled with questions, and feeling as though they can't trust any law enforcement. There's a common saying in Native American communities: "When an Indigenous woman goes missing, she goes missing twice—first her body vanishes and then her story." Why are so many Native American and Alaska Native women going missing and being murdered and WHY does it seem like people don't care? | 269: [FREE Weekly Episode] Caffey Family Murders (Erin Caffey) | 16 May 2023 | 01:13:11
On Saturday, March 1st, 2008, the Caffey family home in Emory, Texas was engulfed in flames. Terry Caffey, the father, had been shot five times and had amazingly escaped the burning home and crawled 500 yards to his neighbors' house, where 911 was called. Firefighters found the burned remains of 38-year-old Penny Caffey, 13-year-old Matthew, and 8-year-old Tyler. Still missing was 16-year-old Erin. Terry was immediately rushed to the hospital and into surgery. Once Terry was in recovery, a Rains County Sheriff told him that his only daughter was alive and well. Unfortunately, Terry's relief that Erin was safe was short-lived. The Sheriff also told Terry that she was in custody for being involved in the murders. He was stunned. There was no way that his daughter had anything to do with this. However, Terry, and the rest of the community, were shocked to find that the evidence against Erin was overwhelming. TRIGGER WARNINGS: child murder, brutality Hang with us:

Natalee was seen leaving the bar with a few local boys and was never seen again. It's been 18 years and neither Natalee nor her remains have been found.
