Episode 104 - The Snuts - Nathaniel Rateliff, In Memory of Loss22 Oct 202600:53:06

For episode 104 I'm joined by one of the biggest guitar bands of this generation, it's The Snuts!

This one's a fun episode. Jack and Callum were on fine form and gave the perfect level, of chaos, heart felt sincerity and project promotion that I always strive for on this podcast.

The Snuts new album, Joy In Short Moments is released on Happy Music Group and Virgin Music Group on the 30th of October and is easily their best work to date.

All 3 of their previous records have hit the top 5 in the album charts, it's inevitable that they'll make it 4 fort 4.

Their album of choice was In Memory of Loss by Nathaniel Rateliff and in this episode we deep dive the record and discuss Jack and Callum's connection to Nathaniel's debut record.

We also discuss how Joy in Short Moments was the most fun record of The Snuts career to make, how LCD Soundystem have the best intro of all time and the unparalled satisfaction of a stubby can.

It's out now wherever you find your podcasts.

Episode 103 - Ben Burrell - Jamie T, Kings and Queens15 Oct 202600:54:19

For episode 103, I'm joined by Radio royalty. From Absolute Radio, it's Ben Burell!

Ben is the voice of Absolute from 1pm to 4pm Monday to Friday where he can be found dishing out indie bangers to music lovers across the digital airwaves with a firm "no repeat guarantee."

This was a VERY fun episode and Ben's album of choice is an absolute (no pun intended) all timer of a record, it's Jamie T's softmore classic - Kings and Queens.

In this episode we discuss consuming Kings and Queens with a grotty hangover, snogging your way out of physical discomfort at indie discos and how Jamie T has done more for mens mental health than any government scheme ever could.

We also talk loads about the Oasis documentary Don't Look Back In Anger, so that gives a pretty firm time stamp of exactly when we recorded this one.

It's out now, wherever you find your podcasts. Best enjoyed with ten cigarettes and five snakebites while running for the last train in Surrey.

The Misty on their love of The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys and the best ever London bands.12 Oct 202600:11:45

"The very first “post-surf” band. This London four-piece (extended to five on stage) was formed in 2021 when Connie came to London from France and met Archie (bass) from Worcester and Steve (guitar) from York. They blended their influences so seamlessly that they had to invent an actual genre to describe their sound. “Post-surf” is a pun to the “post-punk” dominion over the London scene of the past decade, alluding to the twist operated by these boys: post-modern themes in their lyrics and reflections on the chaos of modern life, but the warm and soothing sun of 60s California on the surface, embodied by their trademark four-part harmonies, surf guitars, and inexplicably strange chords. Their first album, a series of haunting ballads expunged in an effort to shave down their growing catalog, was released in 2025. “Poorly Planned Missions… Executed Worse” features ten tracks dripping with the band’s sonic identity and commitment to writing a song that sounds like it could never be written twice. Having opened for acts like The Big Pink and The Molotovs, they are gearing up for the release of the much louder follow-up to their debut, a cinematic whirlpool of indie bangers, introduced by their brand new single ‘Neverknows’.”

For episode 101 I’m joined by a modern pop phenomenon - it’s Maddie Zahm!

Maddie is an LGBTQ icon with an incredible story. She’s gone from a life of worship leading to finding her people in the gay community.

She’s also a PROPER laugh.

In this episode we discuss how Wildewoman by Lucius was the vehicle for her discovering Feminism, her own identity and the joys of secular music.

Episode 100 - Orlando Weeks - PJ Harvey, Let England Shake01 Oct 202600:54:53

For episode 100 I'm joined I'm joined by a massive guest, from the actual, literal, bloody Maccabees.... it's Orlando Weeks!

100 episodes is a major milestone, so to be joined by such a great guest feels like a perfect fit. Needless to say, it was a joy to spend time with Orlando deep diving PJ Harvey's Let England Shake.

We also discuss the importance and fragility of male friendships, reforming The Maccabees, having harry Styles as a fan and the night the sky turned "Silk Cut purple" during PJ Harvey's mind melting set at Bestival 2011.

It's no secret that I'm a total Maccabees super fan. It must easily be over 30 times that I've watched the band live, even more with Orlando's solo shows. But I think I kept the balance just about right between professional broadcaster and obsessed fan that's freaking out.

If you haven't given the show a cheeky follow or 5 star review on your podcast platform of choice, I'd be very grateful if you could please! It really helps to bump the show up and get more eyes on the show.

Onwards to the next 100.

“THIS Album…” is the podcast where each episode a guest and I deep dive an album that they have an emotional attachment to, one that captures a particular moment in their life. And we have a proper laugh while doing it.Rather than talking guitar pedals and snare drum recording techniques, I want to hear how bad someone’s haircut was when they discovered an album, who broke their heart and what questionable denim they were wearing. The show reached #1 on Spotify’s Music Podcast Chart and continues to build a highly engaged social audience, with clips from the podcast generating over 1 million views on Instagram in June 2026 alone.

Episode 99 - JJerome87 - Radiohead, Amnesiac24 Sep 202600:54:18

For Episode 99 I'm joined by JJerome87!

Joe has had an illustrious career as the frontman of one of the biggest bands in the world for the last 15 years.

Alt J have had number 1 albums, headlined festivals, won the Mercury Music Prize and NME Awards. They've been nominated for Brit Awards, headlined The Other Stage at Glastonbury and have a legacy that dreams are made of.

But this year Joe released his debut solo album - The Canyon under the moniker of JJerome87. It's an Americana tinged masterpiece and is out now on Mushroom Music via Virgin Music Group.

For this episode Joe's album of choice is is Radiohead's Amnesiac. It's an seismic album from one of the biggest bands in the world, so naturally we spend most of the conversation talking about books, teenage hormones and cats.

We talk a LOT about cats.

It's an absolutely massive guest and I had so much fun talking to Joe. Enjoy irresponsibly.

Episode 98 - Amelia Bayler - Uffie, Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans17 Sep 202600:46:26

Episode 98 is out now and I’m joined by Amelia Bayler!

Amelia is a comedian, Punk Singer, Only Friends model and is basically an utter joy to be around.

Amelia had appeared on the podcast before to discuss her passion for Mnistry of Sound compilations, but for her return she’s chosen an indie sleaze classic, Uffie’s Sex Dress and Denim Jeans!

This is a fun episode as we discuss, preserving club culture, millennial fashion disasters, tent based romance at Bennicassim 2012 and the power of Uffie’s iconic saxophone solos.

Best enjoyed while wearing American Apparel and 6 glow sticks.

Episode 97 - Goldierocks - Tame Impala, Currents10 Sep 202600:42:46

I can’t believe I actually had the audacity to invite today’s guest to my humble podcast because she is a woman far more accustomed to DJing on super yachts for the likes of The Jaggers, Richard Branson or Kate Moss.

She’s a queen of the Dancefloor turned wellness warrior, it’s Goldierocks!

Sam has had a WILD and very uniqiue life, so it was never in doubt that she would be loads of fun on the show. We talk all about how she went from freelancing at the NME, to DJing in Libya and the The 2012 Paralympic Opening Ceremony.

But of course there's the album and she chose a BLINDER! Sam fell in love with Tame Impala at a time when she moved to Australia, so what more fitting album, than they're game changer, Currents.

We cover a lot of ground in this episode, from sunburn on Super Yachts to sharing a bill with The Maccabees in Malawai.

Patrick Gosling on Mac DeMarco, Deerhunter and THAT Charli XCX Cover07 Sep 202600:17:01

Patrick is a Sunderland based indie / folk singer songwriter behind one of my favourite tracks of the year, Resembles Heaven. It’s a track he’s been teasing for a long time and it is finally due for release on the 9th of September.

You may recognise him from his viral folk cover of Charl XCX's 360, you can hear all about it on this episode as well as his love of Deerhunter and Mac DeMarco.

It’s out now on Youtube, Spotify or wherever you find your podcasts and it’s best enjoyed with a baseball cap and a flannel shirt on.

Indoor Foxes on Living Next Door To Barrowlands and Supporting The Libertines03 Sep 202600:12:17

As anyone that follows me on Instagram will be fully aware, I supported The Libertines on Saturday and DJ's between all the acts. One of those acts was Indoor Foxes!

She tore the roof off with her blend of Americana inspired "Girl Rock." Perfect for fans of Wolf Alice and Paramore.

I managed to grab a quick interview with her, but sadly my microphones let me down (F you Rode!) so the audio is a bit iffy today. I've fixed it as best as I can, so hopefully you can still enjoy this episode.

Indoor Foxes latest single, Feet on The Dashboard is an absolute smash and I would highly recommend putting it on as soon as you've listened to this Podcast.

Enjoy!

EMERGENCY PODCAST! I Opened For The Libertines and It Was MAD!!!31 Aug 202600:18:47

I supported The Libertines and DJ'd to 8000 people...

As is often the case with The Libertines, it was not without incident, so naturally, an emergency podcast feels warranted.

There were numerous runs ins with Peter and each one was HILLARIOUS!

He asked me 4 questions, the answer to 3 of them was "no." The other was, "The Young Knives."

Project Glastonbury 2027 is growing momentum as I become more and more qualified for the role.

If anyone you know is looking for a DJ to play some indie bangers at your next festival, club. night or event, then let's have a chat!

Episode 93 - Riley Pinkerton of Castle Rat - Type O Negative, October Rust27 Aug 202600:42:51

For episode 93 I'm joined by the Rat Queen - Riley Pinkerton from Castle Rat!

Castle Rat are a five-piece Medieval Fantasy Heavy Metal band from New York, bringing massive riffs and some much needed theatrical chaos to this crazy world.

I caught up with Riley just a few days after they completely stole the weekend at this year’s Bloodstock, to dive deep into the music of fellow New Yorkers Type O Negative and their 1996 classic, October Rust

We talk the realm, we talk world building and we talk about being gifted DIY recreations of Peter Steele iconic Play Girl cover as a leaving gift from colleagues.

Castle Rat are on a full US tour throughout September and October and they have two highly recommended albums available now, 2024's Into The Realm and 2025's The Bestiary.

Episode 92 - David Correos - NewJeans, Get Up20 Aug 202600:45:25

Could you listen to two songs non stop on a 14 hour flight? Today's guest can and did! That may seem excessive, but this is a man that opened AND tasted 141 cans of tinned tomatoes on Taskmaster NZ.In this episode we discuss how appearing on Taskmaster changed his life, how Buckingham Palace isn't as good as the palace in Aladdin and the VERY iffy optics of being obsessed with teenage Korean popstars when you're in your mid 30's.It's a really fun episode and David has really opened me up to a world of music I never thought would be for me. But it turns out... K Pop is class! David is at The Fringe all of August and has a full UK tour in September with shows in Leeds, Brighton, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol and 5 nights at The Bill Murray in London. See ya there?

Episode 91 - Mystery Jets on The Magic of The Coral's Debut Album13 Aug 202600:51:13

For episode 91 I'm joined by a genuine indie hero...

From the ACTUAL, LITERAL Mystery Jets..... it's Blaine Harrison!!!

Mystery Jets really are one of "those" bands aren't they? For over 20 years their music has been a constant in my life and been there to soundtrack the moments of heartbreak, joy, melancholy and everything in between that every Millennial has been through.

Now with new album A Hole To See The Sky Through set for release on the 21st of August, there's a new batch of incredible songs that we get to make new memories to.

In the episode we talk all about getting Yoko's approval on the absolutely massive sounding new record, touring with Arctic Monkeys on the NME Awards tour in 2006 and we also deep dive the bonkers world of The Coral's debut album.

Mystery Jets are on an instore tour this August and a full UK tour in November with a huge show at Kentish Town Forum.

See you down the front?

Episode 90 - Westside Cowboy - Horsegirl, Phonetics On and On06 Aug 202600:43:00

Episode 90 is a big one.

I’m joined by a band who are destined to define this era of guitar music. It’s Westside Cowboy!

The band are set to release their debut album “It Goes On” on the 21st of August and it’s hard to imagine a world where they’re not making an impact on numerous Album of The Year lists.

In this episode we discuss Glastonbury disasters, supporting Geese in the eye of a buzzy media storm and we deep dive the bands that’s been on every mood-board Westside Cowboy have ever had - Horsegirl and their much loved record Phonetics On and On.

Big thanks to the team at Universal for helping make this happen.

Enjoy irresponsibly ✌🏻

Episode 87 - Daniel McKeon on Stevie Wonder, The Secret Life of Plants23 Jul 202601:15:23

Comedian Daniel McKeon joins William to dive into one of Stevie Wonder's most overlooked and ambitious records, Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants.

Often overshadowed by classics like Songs in the Key of Life and Innervisions, this 1979 soundtrack album took Stevie Wonder in a completely different direction. Together, William and Daniel explore why the record divided critics, how its groundbreaking use of synthesizers helped shape the future of electronic music, and why it deserves another listen.

Mini Episode - Project Glastonbury 202713 Jul 202600:15:28

If you talk it, it will come?

Does that work?

Who knows, who cares.

One thing I do care about though, is making sure that I'm on the line up at Glastonbury 2027, either DJing somewhere or doing a live version of the podcast there.

So I've released a cheeky little bonus episode talking it into existance.

I also give my thoughts on some of the acts that I want to see on Worthy Farm in 2027.

Episode 84 - Jamie Webster - Arctic Monkeys, Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not09 Jul 202600:52:50

Anticipation has a habit to set you up for disapointment...but this episode of the podcast couldn't fail.

Episode 84 is a monumental album with an equally momentous guest, it's Jamie Webster!

It was a joy to host Jamie and hear all about his emotional atachment to one of the greatest albums ever made.

I know I've covered this album before, but I couldn't care less. I'd be happy to make this a Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not podcast.

Jamie's new album Running Around The Sun is out in September and is easily his best work to date.

You can catch him on tour later this year and at a festival near you this summer.

Episode 83 - Andrew Cushin - Damien Rice, O02 Jul 202600:22:56

For episode 83 I'm joined by singer-songwriter Andrew Cushin to explore one of the most influential albums of the early 00's, Damien Rice's iconic debut album O.

I joined Andrew post soundcheck at Signature Brew's iconic venue on Black Horse Road on a barmy summer evening to discuss his lifelong connection to Damien's music, the emotional impact of songs like Cannonball, The Blower's Daughter and Amie.

We also dives into Andrew's career, working with Noel Gallagher, touring the UK, growing up in Newcastle, and using music to process grief, loss, love, and family.

We also discuss:

Damien Rice's O from 2002
Cannonball and The Blower's Daughter
Andrew's songwriting process
Working with Noel Gallagher
Oasis, Paul Weller and Jake Bugg

Episode 82 - The Howlers on The La's Self Titled Debut25 Jun 202601:02:31

For episode 81 I’m joined by Adam Young from The Howlers!

It was lucky I caught Adam when I did, The Howlers are set to be VERY busy for the next 24 months.

Their second album, Heavy is scheduled for release in October and the two singles to so far are easily their best work to date.

But before that, they have their first stadium support slots and a truly mind melting number of their own shows in the diary which will keep them busy for a loooong time to come.

I had so much fun talking to Adam about his love of The La's debut album, Oasis and Mod Culture.

We also discuss the positives of smoking cigarettes, the madness of Fat White Family and the benefits to buddying up to your local vintage clothes store owner.

It's available now on Islington Radio or wherever you find your podcasts.

Episode 81 - Preston from The Ordinary Boys - Blur, Parklife18 Jun 202601:03:12

The phrase "Mid 00's Icon" get's thrown around a lot on this podcast, but for episode 81, it may just be accurate, because I'm joined by a man behind some of the most joyous and fomative years of my skinny jeaned life.

From the actual, literal Ordinary Boys - It's Preston!

It was a total joy getting to spend time with Preston to discuss his career to date, being back on the road supporting Madness, his love of Blur's Parklife and a MASSIVE exclusive on The Ordinary Boys upcoming new album.

Though I wang on about the MANY time I've cried my eyes out watching Blur, I think I just about kept my indie fan boy levels in check, but in 2006, my fandom was unrivalled!

I must have seen The Ordinary Boys 10 to 15 times in the 00's, I was even an extra in the 9 to 5 video.

It's a really fun episode and it's out now on Islington Radio or wherever you find your podcasts.

Episode 80 - Ivo Graham on Arctic Monkeys, Favourite Worst Nightmare11 Jun 202601:25:05

Calm, collected, commanding. But enough about me…

Episode 80 is possibly the best episode of the podcast yet, I’m joined by comedian, podcaster, broadcaster, tall man and lover of all things orange - Ivo Graham!

It was a DREAM to spend time talking with Ivo deep diving Arctic Monkeys’ iconic second album Favourite Worst Nightmare.

Ivo and I have numerous bizarre indie connections. Like the time he conned me at a Confidence Man show. The time he went mute on me at Glastonbury and the time his face was plastered over the wall of a house I was viewing.

Sound strange? Well it’s all true and it’s all covered in the podcast.

Along the way, Ivo reflects on seeing Arctic Monkeys in 2007, the changing sound of the band across albums like AM, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, and The Car, plus memories of Bloc Party, Klaxons, Franz Ferdinand, The Maccabees, and more.

It’s an indie dream and is basically everything I hoped this podcast would be.

If you’ve ever stared longingly at a Reading and Leeds line up poster while dealing with the inevitable built on obsolescence of an iPod mini, have I got a podcast for you….

Episode 79 - Christopher Macarthur Boyd on Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino04 Jun 202601:04:27

I don't say this lightly, but episode 79 might be one of the best episodes of "THIS Album..." yet.

I'm joined by podcaster, comedian and album enjoyer Christopher Macarthur-Boyd to discuss Arctic Monkeys’ Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino!

How lucky am I? I got to spend 70 minutes talking to one of my absolute favourite comedians in the country about one of my absolute favourite albums of all time.

What a life!

Tacos on rooftops, warp speed chic, zero gravity cigarettes, we discuss it all as we explore the songwriting, themes, lyrics, and legacy of one of modern music’s most misunderstood albums.

Expect divise opinions, the joy of Alex Turner cosplay, music nostalgia and passionate discussion about Alex Turner, indie obsession and two men's love of one of the most fascinating artistic left-turns in music history.

And just you wait and see who's on next weeks episode....

Episode 60 - Ben Cardew - Stereolab - Transient Random Noise Bursts with Announcements22 Jan 202601:03:33

It's the big 6-0 and for episode 60 I'm joined by a man that is truly an expert on his chosen album, because he's literally written a book on it!

Ben Cardew is a music journalist, radio host, podcaster and DJ who joined me from Barcleona to deep dive Stereolab's - Transient Random Noise Bursts with Announcements from 1993.

In 2021, Ben relesed his first book - Daft Punk's Discovery - A Future Unfurled and in March will release his second - Space Age Bachelor Pad Music - The Story of Stereolab in 20 Songs.

It's a really fun episode where we discuss the crushing dispointment of being a Morrissey fan, reading French books to look cool and robots wearing wellies.

    Viva Norwich!

    Episode 59 - Ed Jones - John Mayer, Continiuum15 Jan 202601:03:13

For episode 59 I'm joined by actor, comedian and social media sensation - Ed Jones!

You'll be familiar with Ed's social media antics or maybe you'll know him from his comedic work with sketch group Crybabies. But if you've been following his work for long enough you'll know that Ed started his career in the arts as a John Mayer inspired singer songwriter.

We get into all of it as we discuss Mayer's seminal 2006 album - Continuum while also asking the big questions, such as - "How much sex was Mick Hucknall REALLY having?"

Best enjoyed with "a gentlemens' Guinness"

20 Years of Arctic Monkeys - MP3 Zip Files to Reading 200608 Jan 202600:23:45

It’s the milestone every millennial has been fearing, but January 2026 marks 20 years since Arctic Monkeys released their debut album and (not be too hyperbolic, but…) EVERYTHING changed.

In true James Murphy style, I can say “I was there…”

So for this special solo episode of the podcast I run through my early Arctics experiences and the impact they had on me

    Episode 57 - Chris Arnold - NOFX, Punk in Drublic03 Jan 202600:55:14

2025 was the best year of my life and it started in glorious fashion with Chris Arnold as a the first ever guest on the show.

So what better way to kick off 2026, then by going full circle and welcoming back Mr Beatles Dub Club himself, it's Chris Arnold!!!!

Chris's first appearance is still the most listened to episode to date and somehow, for some reason we did the unthinkable and managed to literally reach the top of Spotify's Music Podcast Chart.

    Mad!

In this episode Chris and I get on the cans to discuss subcultures in suburbia, second hand smoke at Brixton Academy and kidnapping rock royalty.

We also talk a little about NOFX's Punk in Drublic.

Best enjoyed while graffitiing a school desk.

    Enjoy!
