"This Album..." with William Hann. The podcast where each episode a guest and I deep dive an album of their choice. It could be an album from any artist, any genre, any year. We're going to discuss the songs, the shows, the artwork. But what I really want is to know is the emotional attachment my guest has to the album. Who knows, we might even have a bloody laugh while doing it!

"THIS Album..." Trailer

dimanche 29 décembre 2024Duration 02:20

This is it, this is happening and this is what you can expect from THIS Album....

Episode 1 - Beatles Dub Club - The Beatles, Abbey Road

Season 1 · Episode 1

vendredi 3 janvier 2025Duration 47:54

Episode 1, this is it, this is happening!

You find us launching the podcast with one of “THE” albums from a niche little upcoming group called The Beatles. Maybe you’ve heard of them?

This episodes guest was beyond a delight, he’s a Glastonbury legend that is more than qualified to discuss the Fab Four.

Listening back, we sound like we’ve known each other for years, but it’s the first time Chris and I had met! What a guest….

If you like what you’ve heard, or you have some opinions that we’ve not covered then drop me an email on williamhann86@gmail.com and follow me on the socials.

Episode 2 - Stu Whiffen from Off The Beat and Track Podcast - R.E.M. Green

Season 1 · Episode 2

vendredi 10 janvier 2025Duration 01:12:20

Welcome to episode 2 of "THIS Album..."

Woah, what a mad week it's been!

For a couple of days there, little old William Hann was at number 1 in Spotify's Music Podcast chart! Truly mental.

Thanks so much for listening, sharing, and for the 5 star reviews (a pox on the houses of the one miserable git that gave a 1 star!)

But we're just getting started, on to the next one.

Episode 2 we are joined by a giant of Essex nightlife and a podcasting polymath.

He's the host of Acceptable in The 80's.

He's the host of Off The Beat and Track,

He's the host of Tell Me About It

He's the host of Hardcore Listing

He's the host of The MMA Fan Show

But for your listening pleasure today, he's a guest on "THIS Album..." and we're discussing Green by REM.

But we also talk about the time Stu became the front man of REM, the time Football "Came home!" during a Nick Cave set and ask the question, how much mandolin is too much mandolin?

Episode 3 - Sophie Sveinsson from Radio X - Tori Amos, Little Earthquakes

Season 1 · Episode 3

jeudi 16 janvier 2025Duration 45:05

For episode 3 of "THIS Album..." I am in the hands of a real broadcasting expert.

Sophie is the voice of weekend mornings on Radio X and gave me an education on the piano virtuoso and mushroom enthusiast, Tori Amos and her debut album, Little Earthquakes.

We discuss Pen Pal boyfriends, miming to No Doubt and attempt to answer the big question "what's so amazing about really deep thoughts."

Episode 4 - Harry from 22 Grand Pod - The Paddingtons, First Comes First

Season 1 · Episode 4

jeudi 23 janvier 2025Duration 56:08

Hold your Ipod mini in the air and light a cigarette indoors, because for episode 4 we are discussing the best thing to come out of East Riding of Yorkshire since Emmerdale and bad weather.

It's The Paddingtons!

I'm joined by a man that is more then equipped to deep dive the scuzzy icons. Harry is the host of the 22 Grand Pod where he'll discuss all things indie with an array of landfill avoiding legends of the era.

Not only do we discuss The Paddingtons powerhouse debut album, First Comes First, we also talk about the dangers of wearing yellow skinny jeans on a high street, all nighters from Arctic Monkeys and when house parties go a bit too far.

Give Harry and I a follow on the socials and if you could also give a 5 star review to us both it REALLY helps bump things up the charts.

Enjoy as irresponsibly as you see fit!

Episode 5 - Jess Greenfield From Noel Gallagher’s HFB - Alanis Morisette, Jagged Little Pill

Season 1 · Episode 5

jeudi 30 janvier 2025Duration 52:05

Is it Ironic? Do You think? And does it even matter?

In today's episode I'm joined by Jess from Wonder 45 and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

I was lucky enough to spend time over Zoom with Jess where we get to deep dive one of the biggest albums of the 90's. However, the technology failed us towards the end, but it actually added a bit of fun chaos to the show.

We also touch on Glastonbury, straddling the two worlds of Camden and boarding school.

We also discuss irony. Or the lack of it.

Enjoy!

Episode 6 - Matthew Crosby from Radio X - 100 Gecs, 10,000 Gecs

jeudi 6 février 2025Duration 01:07:56

Matthew Crosby is a comedian, writer, podcaster and Radio X DJ.

His Sunday morning Radio X show with Ed Gamble has been part of my weekend routine for over 5 years now and I couldn't have been more excited to have him on the show...... until I found out which album we were covering....

We deep dive the bonkers Hyper Pop duo 100 Gecs and their second album, 10,00 Gecs.

We also talk about kids tv, radical acceptence and ask the big question, are Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds "a laugh?"

No shade to previous guests, but bloody hell, this is the best one yet. Matt was fantastic company and you are going to love this episode, even if 100 Gecs are not your thing.

Episode 7 - Russell Lissack from Bloc Party - Weezer, The Blue Album

Season 1 · Episode 7

jeudi 13 février 2025Duration 01:00:07

There’s no doubt about it, Bloc Party are one of the best bands of their generation and I felt incredibly lucky to get to spend an hour talking to their iconic guitarist Russell about one of his favourite albums, Weezer.

Russell was incredibly honest during our chat and we discuss the loneliness he felt as a teenager. We also discuss the accidentally genius marketing from Weezer and we celebrate 20 years of Bloc Party’s debut album, Silent Alarm.

Episode 8 - Julian GK, Rancid ...and Here Comes The Wolves

jeudi 20 février 2025Duration 36:41

For episode 8 of THIS Album, I am joined by rising Pop Punk Superstar Julian GK and we are diving into the 90's Californian Punk scene via the scene's flag bearers, Rancid.

But not just Rancid, we discuss Julian's journey from Costa Rica to London, compare the punk scene from both sides of the pond and we question the validity of Mario Balotelli's mohawk.

To put it lightly, we cover a lot of ground and this is an absolute must listen for lovers of punk or the punk curious.

Listen loudly and enjoy responsibly.

Episode 9 - Elliott Andrews - Interpol, Turn on The Bright Lights

jeudi 27 février 2025Duration 47:43

For todays episode of the podcast I am joined by a man who’s ever changing career in the music and comedy industry has seen him work with an array of national treasures.

He’s even worked with the band that we’re discussing today, the almighty Interpol and their seismic debut album, Turn On The Bright Lights.

Though I’ve known Elliott for a long time, it’s not as though we’re best mates and I can’t pretend to know him too well. But bloody hell, we got on like a house on fire for this recording! It was one of the most effortless conversations of the show so far and we had a proper laugh.

We discuss life on the road with The Maccabees, the functionality of braces while drumming and ask the big question, do Interpol still wear suits on stage during record breaking heatwaves?
