Derfel is reunited with Nimue on the Isle of the Dead, but realises that they’re trapped. Meanwhile, Arthur brokers a difficult peace with Aelle. Derfel and Nimue fight off cannibals as they attempt to escape the Isle, before being saved by Arthur. On a glacier, Merlin finds a powerful Treasure of Britain, but realises it is filled with blood – a terrible omen of things to come.

This final episode of the podcast features Production Designer James North and Co-Writer Kate Brooke, as they discuss the magnificent sets and design of the show, as well as the challenges of adapting the Arthurian myth for the screen.

As Derfel and Morgan begin the journey back with Bedwin’s body, Ceinwyn reveals to them that Gorfydd has formed an alliance with the Saxon, Aelle. Upon returning to Dunmonia, Derfel discovers Arthur has banished Nimue to the Isle of the Dead. Meanwhile, Morgan is bereft at the death of Bedwin, confronting Arthur over it. Sansum takes pity on her, and they grow closer. Derfel disobeys Arthur’s orders and goes to the Isle of the Dead to rescue Nimue.

Co-writer Ed Whitmore joins host David Craig as they discuss the darker side of Arthur and the process of adapting a beloved book series.

Gorfydd rejects Gundleus’ request to marry Ladwys in Powys. Arthur breaks his vow to Ceinwyn and elopes with Guinevere. Meanwhile, Gundleus attacks Derfel, but he manages a close escape.

Episode 7 of the podcast sees host David Craig joined by the actors who portray Gundleus and Ladwys; Simon Merrells and Tatjana Nardone, where they discuss the relationship between the cruel couple and their audition process for the show.

Arthur and the tribe kings enter peace talks. As a show of faith, Arthur makes a deal to marry Gorfydd’s daughter, Ceinwyn. However, sparks fly after he meets the mysterious Guinevere on a night walk. As Arthur and the Powysians prepare to head North for marriage, Merlin decides to go questing for the Knowledge of Britain and Arthur asks Derfel to be one of his men. Ceinwyn is distraught at the idea of marrying Arthur, but Guinevere advises her that she will retain power. At the betrothal where Arthur and Ceinwyn meet, Guinevere is revealed as to Arthur as Ceinwyn’s lady-in-waiting.

Host David Craig is joined by Emily John who plays Ceinwyn, and Jordan Alexandra who plays Guinevere. They’ll be discussing Ceinwyn and Guinevere’s relationship and how they brought their characters from script to screen.
