The Continual Decimation of Being with Maya Night

Season 1 · Episode 5

vendredi 20 octobre 2023Duration 01:11:32

Send us a text

The elder mother gathers the liminal one out of bed. She dresses in earthen skins, her belly round and ripening. She is led blindfolded down a well trodden path into the forest and on into a clearing. A circle of mothers around a fire at the center, tended by maidens in flowing white dress...

The ceremony ends as the liminal one is offered gifts and talismans to remember her strength and power as she faces the decimation of the one who came before and is welcomed to the ancient line of the Mother.

In this episode Molly Mitchell-Hardt interviews somatic liberator, entrepreneur, leader, and revolutionary, Maya Night.  They discuss:

  • The feminine in business-relinquishing the “niche” philosophy
  • Distinction between maiden and mother mentality
  • The decimation of birth, mothering, and parenting
  • Motherhood and the erotic
  • Being with the cycles of life and inner death
  • Trusting the seasons of business
  • Maidenhood and righteousness and safety to widening scope in motherhood
  • Not turning away from discomfort
  • The hardest thing about mothering
  • Valuing aliveness over happiness
  • The power of honesty and transparency
  • Maya’s work around relational alchemy
  • Bringing forward the taboo and unspeakable into relationship

Initiatory Reclamation with Nicky Wilks

Season 1 · Episode 4

vendredi 8 septembre 2023Duration 01:21:22

Send us a text

Western culture has in many ways lost conscious relationship with the forces of initiation, so many of us are unconsciously dragged along into initiatory trial after initiatory trial without context, without the container of the community or the elders to hold us and imbue our experiences with meaning and sacred purpose. Without the anchoring of communal ritual we become untethered from the cosmos and the wheel of time that connects us to the eternal.

In this episode, Molly Mitchell-Hardt interviews friend, educator, speaker, facilitator, and Rites of Passage guide, Nicky Wilks.  They discuss:

  • The impact of lack of ritualized rites of passage
  • The fatherhood initiation
  • The necessity of male rites of passage due to the lack of physiological markers and the reliance on cultural markers that we are lacking in modern life
  • The need for mentors, elders, community in becoming a father
  • Nicky's work with rites of passage and the father-child bond
  • The importance of mythology and story to give us context in our lives
  • The male identity in the modern context
  • Fire-keeping as a portal between the physical and metaphysical
  • And much more

The Shadow Side of Healing Culture with Dr. Erin Yu-Juin McMorrow

Season 1 · Episode 4

lundi 7 août 2023Duration 01:05:42

Send us a text

The seat of therapist or healing professional is a very privileged role and as such, I believe we have a duty and responsibility to be doing our own inner work. In a position of power and with the shadow unchecked it is all too easy to get stuck in a trap of unconscious manipulation, vying for power and control, or using the work to focus on others in order to neglect our own suffering among other things.

When we acknowledge the shadow we invite in another layer of truth and authenticity to the work, which in turn creates a safer container for the client to show up with all their parts, especially the ones we would rather not name.

In this episode, Molly Mitchell-Hardt interviews friend, author, speaker and coach, Dr. Erin Yu-Juin McMorrow.  They discuss:

  • The impact of putting ideas in print and being seen by friends and family
  • The necessity of allowing for a gestational period for ideas before sharing
  • The vulnerability and responsibility of being a public-facing figure
  • The shadow of content creation
  • The shadow of the "healing space"
  • Coming back to the body as "truth teller"
  • The role of overriding
  • The necessity of discernment
  • Signs working with an aligned healer vs. healer with ulterior motives

Life is a Psychedelic Experience with Pilar Brooks

Season 1 · Episode 2

dimanche 9 juillet 2023Duration 01:24:14

Send us a text

A crackling fire, the drum beat, feet rhythmically lifting and pounding on the Earth, dust whirling up like smoke, singing the world awake. Consciousness shifts. We are lifted out of the temporal and transported beyond as we have been doing since the dawn. As Jungian analyst Dr. Jeffery Raff said, humans have “...the innate capacity to unite with the higher world, and to unite the higher and the lower worlds as one” (p.1).

In this episode, Molly Mitchell-Hardt interviews friend and colleague, trained Depth Psychotherapist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Psychedelic Facilitator and Integration Therapist, Pilar Brooks.  They discuss:

  • How Pilar became a Psychedelic Facilitator and Integration Therapist
  • Bridging and holding the tension between different cultural forces
  • Centering into the body, understanding the embodied “yes” and “no” and sense of boundaries in working with psychedelic medicines
  • How healing contains both pleasure and pain
  • The importance of exploring individual healing and our interconnectedness
  • The need for support in integrating expanded states of consciousness
  • How life is a psychedelic journey
  • How to practice reciprocity with nature in any environment
  • Grief as an ecstatic experience
  • The archetype of the dragon

The Relentless Mirror with Zachary Murdock

Season 1 · Episode 1

mercredi 7 juin 2023Duration 51:49

Send us a text

There are myriad paradoxes at work in life and when we straddle two opposing positions we enter a closer approximation of truth and wholeness. Carl Jung said “… the paradox is one of our most valued spiritual possessions.” When we can hold the tension we are honoring the spectrum and complexity of life. Aliveness is in that tension, transformation is in that tension, and so too is great discomfort.

In this episode, Molly interviews her partner, poet, musical artist, all-around prolific creator and founder of Channel the Sun, Zachary Murdock.  They discuss:

  • Creating a personal cosmology that includes initiation and normalizes dark night of the soul experiences
  • Allowing the dance of rotting and blooming in creativity
  • The dangers of living out the myth of Icarus
  • Mental Health crises
  • The experience of having freedom through limitation
  • Zachary's creative process and the challenging collision between art and commerce
  • Balancing obsessive creativity and family life
  • The role of therapy as a way to clear out and increase nervous system capacity
  • Surviving the ups and downs of being an artist and deep feeler
  • The initiation of fatherhood
  • The relentless mirror of parenthood and partnership
  • Holding the tension in partnership
