Change of schedule. To mark The Wellness Way's 2nd anniversary, on June 20th, we are moving the podcast and newsletter to Thursdays! In celebration of this incredible milestone, today, we will take you right back to the beginning of why, when and how I started all this.

For the newcomers to the podcast and my work, I am your host, author of The Natural Wellness Journal and The Wellness Way: Your Natural Health Systems interactive ebook. An EFT/Matrix Reimprinting Practitioner and Soma Breathwork Meditation Coach. But most importantly, I am a survivor of a near-death medical procedure, years of PTSD, and addiction to opioids and alcohol whilst 'coping' with grief, resulting in a range of chronic illnesses including a tumour in my throat. I then discovered personalised natural medicine, the associated miracles of the body and power of the mind.

Since then, I have worked tirelessly to teach people all of the things that I learnt about the body's ability to heal itself naturally.

Against all odds, distraught at what I was seeing in the world, I wrote and published The Natural Wellness Journal with Balboa Press in December 2020 after just 2.5 months of writing day and night.

In June 2022, I launched The Wellness Way with Philly J Lay podcast with no knowledge or experience. But despite this, the podcast has had 14 x #1 on Apple Podcast Charts and catapulted into the top 2% globally.

I have been privileged to interview some of my health heroes in natural health on the show, from Zach Bush MD, Dr. Bruce Lipton, and of course, the incredible Barbara O'Neill whom I hosted for my first-ever LIVE in London event on June 11th 2024. More of this next week.

Sam Neffendoff | EFT and meta consciousness (alternative healing)24 Oct 202200:40:56

Today’s guest is a man that I've had the privilege to train with in EFT and meta consciousness, Sam Nestor. His journey has led him to move away from normal, traditional allopathic medicine and to find a different way of healing and teaching other people how to heal themselves.

  • Sam, despite his anarchistic nature, fell into the conformist life. He worked in financial services for a company called actually ‘Standard Life’. But it wasn’t the standard life that Sam wanted for himself after years of misery in this industry. It was on a trip to Thailand where Sam learned reiki which was an opening into a more spiritual world.
  • Sam and his wife wanted to have children and started trying to have a baby and nothing was happening. He got hit with the news that he was very subfertile and it would be almost impossible for him to have a child naturally, which was like a massive shock. Sam went for a three-month acupuncture treatment and tried Chinese herbs as well. A month after this he got the news that he was going to be a dad.
  • Sam used EFT to get out of the work that he was doing as a financial advisor. He used it to keep calm and grounded for negotiations of the company separating and everything working the best for everybody in quite a tough situation.
  • Meta consciousness is a philosophy of working with the foundation of German New Medicine, not an evolution of it.
  • German New Medicine is the awareness that our organism possesses inexhaustible creativity and remarkable self-healing capabilities. It is the recognition that each cell of our body is endowed with a biological wisdom we share with all living beings.
  • The nine stages of the Meta Health Disease Process are: 1. Normal health. 2. A Conflict Shock/significant emotional event occurs. 3. Stress Phase. 4. Resolution. 5. I am truly honoured to have Dr. Sam White on the podcast today. Dr. Sam was a doctor for 18 years and a GP for 10 years, and he decided in 2021 that he had to stand up to what was going on in the world. He’s on The Wellness Way to talk about his views on the medical profession, free speech, and where he thinks our healthcare system is going wrong.

“Dr Sam Graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in medicine in 2004. He is a UK based GP focused on Functional Medicine. He is a member of The International Lyme & Associated Disease Society and The institute of Functional Medicine.

Initially on a path toward becoming a surgeon, Dr Sam undertook rotations in Emergency Medicine, Trauma & Orthopaedics, ENT, Breast & Vascular surgery. Because the first thing I have to do when I wake in the morning is the Soma Breath work Morning Gratitude Meditation and this has transformed my life. Dr Perry Nickelston | The Meaning of Pain- AVOID Chasing Pain (Isolated Healing Doesnt Exist)03 Oct 202201:16:36

There were times in my journey that I thought I'd gone mad and then you find people that make you realise that you're not alone, today’s guest has done that for me. Dr Perry Nicholson, who I came across on Instagram about 18 months ago. I have to say, this man just blew my mind. I asked myself why is every doctor not talking like this man does? He's quite phenomenal. Listen in to hear his story and his thoughts on chasing pain.

  • No system in the body ever works alone, never gets injured alone, never heals alone. There's no such thing as an isolated injury in the body. There's no such thing as isolated healing.
  • you might go to a homoeopath because you have something like gout and you might get a completely different treatment to another person because they're looking at the whole system, what's going on in your body from all different areas.
  • Chasing pain means that you point to where pain is, now it's in my right shoulder today, then can you rub my left hip? So you're just chasing this thing all over the place as opposed to asking, why is the body sending this protective signal? And what does pain mean anyway? So to Dr Perry, pain is a request for change.
  • Dr Perry believes, unfortunately we're thriving, but we're getting in our own camps and we're trying to kill the other tribe. So it's not a communal tribe together and then that's part of the stress response or survival responses. So you stay with what you feel comfortable with and then you don't go near what you don't feel comfortable with. And that's where people become more polarised.
  • Every autoimmune disease is inflammation. It's just manifesting itself in different names for different people. So inflammation is the culprit, but would manifest it as fibromyalgia. Somebody else may manifest it as celiac disease. Because that just depends on your genetic makeup, your history and your vulnerability in your body.
  • Breathing from the diaphragm is so good for your body because it moves your organs around and stimulates your vagus nerve and also increases blood flow in the abdomen. People with vagus nerve issues have poor blood flow to the gut because the signal travels down as well as up. 80% of the signal moves up and 20% moves down.

Dr Sarah Myhill| Naturopathic Physician- the most investigated person by the British Medical Council28 Aug 202200:53:48

Dr Sarah Myhill is a naturopathic physician, member of the British Society for Ecological Medicine, former GP, and the most investigated person by the British Medical Council. Dr Myhill joins Philly this week on The Wellness Way to discuss her new book Green Mother,  her time as a GP, what she’s learned about ecological medicine, and just why she became so infamous with the medical establishment.

  • While working as a GP for many years, Dr Myhill learned that the impact of diet and environment were so much more important at getting to the real cause of illness, rather than medicine that just suppresses symptoms.   • Milk is a risk factor for cancer. Milk proteins are growing proteins which evolutionarily makes sense because young animals need to grow. Milk proteins also create sticky blood which is a risk factor for heart disease.

“When my husband died suddenly in 2002, I felt my life was over. The love of my life was gone. I was devastated. But now I can look back and realise that although obviously I would rather my husband be alive today, this horrendous event led me on a journey of self-discovery.

A journey, which began with a lot of reading, initially as a way of occupying my mind so as not to dwell on my loss but which soon became a way of seeking help. The clip is from an earlier podcast with Dr John Gray and it got over three thousand comments, and  a fair few of them were from women who weren't too pleased with what Dr John Gray had to say around women, orgasms, and vibrators.     Growing up I used to feel other people’s physical pain and emotions. My mother told me it was sympathy pain, and I grew up thinking it was normal and was something that every human experienced.     As the years went on this energy and other ESP experiences grew and expanded and I began what would be years of search and study in different healing modalities to find the right fit for my energy.

    Finally, after a period of prolonged meditation for several years of looking inward for answers I was contacted by a healer from Greece who later became my first Tantric healing mentor and was able to teach me many aspects of the Kundalini energy that I had been working with. After a year of mentorship, I wanted to deepen my knowledge and skill, which is when I found a training school in London that met all the depths of knowledge and training that I was looking for. Finally, I felt like I had come home and somewhere that understood the depths of what I felt from others and this is where my career as a healer and intimacy coach really began. I have been lucky enough to have worked with several brilliant mentors who understand my energy.

    The hands-on treatments that I offer go deep, and into the very core of a person’s trauma or blockages. Clients come to see me for a variety of reasons, ranging from trauma, grief, fear, spiritual awakening, exploring sensuality, expansion of boundaries to name but a few. I treat both male and female clients and the aim is to enable that person to overcome whatever may be stopping them living in a joyful and happy way and being able live life to the full

    Deep held emotions trapped in the body are responsible for many blockages that can lead to health and emotional issues further down the line. This is where this multi-discipline ancient technique can really help release and heal what may even be from as early as birth or from the womb. As unlimited beings we all want to live a beautiful and joyful existence where we can grow and realise our potential to the fullest, where we can love unconditionally with loving boundaries and self-care.

    My workshops are geared towards helping couples reconnect and find a deeper, more loving bond, as well as helping both men and women whether in a relationship or single overcome body shame, taboos and raise awareness, whilst finding a deeper connection to themselves.

    Breathwork- Retreats and 30 Day Fasting10 Jul 202200:09:13

    In 2020 during the first lockdown, Philly discovered breathwork when she stumbled across a breathwork retreat. You can live thirty days without food, three days without water, and less than three minutes without air. Is air more important than your food? That’s one of the topics of discussion this week on The Wellness Way as well as some really helpful breathing techniques.

    • Bad breathwork is a common cause of ill health, leading to low energy, low mood, and low mental clarity. Overbreathing causes oxidative stress eventually leading to inflammation, as Harvard have proved, inflammation causes dis-ease. 
    • Breathwork allows you to breathe out more CO2, decreasing levels in your body and increasing the PH leading to your body being more alkaline. Our diets are very acidic so the alkaline allows your haemoglobin to pick up more oxygen and give out more oxygen. 
    • Intermittent hypoxia is when your body goes into the natural stress response because you have no breath in your body. This gives you the panic signal to breathe and releases adrenaline. When you breathe again it releases all the happy hormones.

    Almost everything will work again if you unplug it, including you. We all need healthy stress in our lives to function normally, but constant stress can cause a myriad of problems. This week on The Wellness Way, Philly will be talking you through how stress affects the body, what we can do about it, and she’ll explain what we mean by healing peaks.

    • We all have traumas in our lives, big Ts and little Ts. The triggers build up from the moment we wake up from checking our social media, reading the news, rushing to get ready for work. They build up throughout the day and the stress causes inflammation in the body.
    • We need to release these stresses or else they get stuck in the body and manifest. 
    • Dopamine is the feel good hormone which activates brain reward systems. Serotonin helps regulate mood, sleep, appetite, digestion, memory, and our ability to learn.     Our DNA is the gun we’re born with, the trigger is pulled by our environment, physical, emotional, past present. It’s called our Epigenetics. Every single thing we see, hear, feel makes an impact on our lives and on our health. This week on The Wellness Way With Philly J Lay, we’re looking at our DNA, the building blocks of our bodies.

    • DNA is coiled around proteins, these proteins are the markers which single to activate or deactivate our genes. These markers make our epigenetics and cause the DNA to coil more tightly around the protein so that the genes cannot be read.     Clive de Carle: "These Vitamins Saved My Life!"

    He’d always been interested in natural health, but Clive’s journey into health mastery kicked off at 32 when an entirely unexpected health emergency hit him.

    After being given antibiotics prescribed for a minor health condition, he suddenly found himself hospitalised and in a critical state after a major reaction to the drug.

    Despite being fit and healthy, the antibiotic sent his body into extreme shock, resulting in Type 1 diabetes and crippling arthritis. Before he knew it, he could barely walk and soon holding a cup of tea or doing up buttons became impossible.

    Welcome to my fasterclass, the teaching of a masterclass but faster. In this first episode of The Wellness Way with Philly J Lay, you will hear my journey of self healing from a near death medical procedure, PTSD, addiction to opioids and alcohol, and years of grief that lead to many chronic illnesses including a tumour in my throat.

    • In 2014, Philly had a spinal fusion and they missed her spine with the anaesthetic. Her life wasn’t saved by a surgeon, but by the registrar who stayed by her bedside and told Philly to find her happy place. When Philly couldn’t find her happy place, the registrar brought Philly’s husband and children in and that’s when she found her happy place. 
    • After this event, Philly wasn’t just grieving her health but also lost her mother, sister, and her two closest friends in the world. She also had an addiction to opioids and PTSD. 
    • After four consultants in four days couldn’t tell her what was wrong, Philly decided to go on a journey to heal herself. She started with diet, detox and studying for hour and hour each night. 
    • In 2018 Philly was invited to an EFT (emotional freedom technique) course and the more she learned about energy healing the more her mind was blown, this started her journey towards also discovering the power of breath work. 
    • In 2020 Philly decided to write the Natural Wellness Journal to give more of the story of wellness than we were being told. It’s about getting back to nature and healing ourselves and the planet.

    Sam went from being a depressed hypochondriac, to a shaman making it his mission to guide people through the choppy waters of spiritual awakening.

    In this enlightening discussion with our host Philly J Lay, we hear Sam’s fascinating story of how he was led to his awakening and discovering his true infinite nature.

    Starting in the foresting industry, Sam decided to leave his job after becoming sensitive to the chemicals ‘from Monsanto’ being sprayed. As he felt his health decline, he decided to quit his job altogether. This was at the same time as the Covid chaos began to occur, and he became conscious of the censorship and the mass manipulation of the whole world using fear.

    But it was a profound experience with psychedelics that catapulted him onto a path that changed his entire outlook.

    Once a man plagued by depression and anxiety, even going so far as to resort to antidepressants to stop him from taking his own life, he became ‘the fabric of the universe’ during this experience. He now makes it his mission to help people see the power that they hold within themselves as souls navigating this wartorn and chaos-laden ‘Earth School’.

    The key theme running through this metaphysical conversation is how we navigate the chaos going on in the world; for example, the drive towards digital authoritarianism and the wars going on in Ukraine and Gaza, through the lens of spirituality.

    Sam’s approach to things such as the war going on in Gaza may indeed be controversial to some, but is guided by what he understands to be the truth of this universe and the lessons we come here to learn.

    From the lockdowns and censorship that ensued in 2020 that led to his spiritual awakening, to the reason for suffering on Earth and how psychedelics can broaden our understanding of both ourselves and the universe, this captivating conversation with one of The Wellness Way podcast’s most interesting guests is DEFINITELY not one to miss.

    We also discussed the results of my tests at The Natural Doctor clinic after I went there for a thermogram. I did learn that I had a red heat patch on the side of my right breast. This indicates a lump of cells, which could be cancer cells, which have grouped together.

    This was the ultimate wake-up call for me and reminded me that I need to prioritise MY health just as much as I prioritise making sure this crucial information is out there for other people.
