The boys have been off the air for a while, so they are easing back into this whole thing with a show built around the music they heard while they were on hiatus. Sometimes these make for the best shows. This might be one of them. They're just happy to be back.

Celebrating the impending end of another trip around the sun for the one and only – truly there is no one else like him – we get a show filled with songs he saw performed over the last 12 months. And, while you’re listening to the show, he’s sitting in Madison Square Garden watching Billy Joel play the final show of his MSG residency. Charmed life, Danny. Happy birthday to our boy!

Well, look who’s back! Laura Meyers and Kristi Pursell take one of their occasional turns as hosts of the show, to bring you their take on what freedom means in the United States of America on its 248th birthday.

The boys return to a topic that was visited in one of the first ever editions of The Weekly List. This week Danny suggested a Road Trip show, and Rich agreed immediately, even though he had already done a Road Trip Show in August of 2019. Why? Because Rich and Danny have been on a dozen road trips together, and the stories from those trips are so good that…they can’t be recounted on a public show like this. So they bring you some really great music instead.

Rich’s annual birthday show finds him waxing nostalgic about the year he turned 17. All the good stuff, some of the bad stuff and a few things, like The Smiths, in between.

After a one week hiatus due to technical difficulties (we apologize for making you wait), we bring you the second episode of our look at the classic Clash album, London Calling. Yes, you had to wait, but really, aren’t the Clash the Only Band That Matters? Tonight’s show is worth the wait. Also, Jeff Johnson is back.

Rich and Danny take complete advantage of the fact that today is Topper Headon, the legendary drummer from the even more legendary band The Clash, to do a show they have always wanted to do. Jeff Johnson, soon-to-be Owner Emeritus of KYMN Radio joins the boys to break down one of the best albums of all time, London Calling (London Calling is a double album, so this is part 1 of a two-part show. Please enjoy this week and next week.)

Commemorating a year since he passed away, Rich and Danny dig on the musical stylings of the great Canadian troubadour, Gordon Lightfoot. At least Rich does. Danny, as it turns out, isn’t a huge Gordon Lightfoot fan. I mean, he’ll tell you that he thinks Gordon Lightfoot is okay… but you can hear it in his voice. Danny just had a hard time getting excited about this show. You don’t like Gordon Lightfoot…? After 36 years, Daniel G. Moir remains a mystery to his best friend. Which is the way it’s supposed to be. I guess.

Rich was excited to do this show, but nowhere near as excited as Danny was. The boys revel in that good old familiar 1980’s feel as they talk about one of the most influential bands of the era. And they play a lot of really good music.

Celebrating Billy Joel’s 75th birthday, his two most prominent KYMN admirers, Daniel G. Moir and Rich Larson, roll out a show chock full of Billy Joel rarities, outtakes, and even a couple of tunes by The Hassles. (who?)

This week, remembering Eric Carmen and Karl Wallinger, two great purveyors of Power Pop, Danny and Rich are joined again by their friend (Rich’s former boss, Danny’s current boss with the Minnesota Twins) Mike Stiles, as they dig into the simple yet sublime world of The Raspberries, Cheap Trick, World Party and so much more.

Led Zeppelin is, by any definition, one of the most important bands in the history of rock & roll. The topic of Led Zeppelin is just too big to tackle in one or even two shows, so Rich & Danny have decided to tackle them album by album. A while back they broke down Led Zeppelin III, and for the second installment of this occasional series, marking the 51st anniversary of the album’s release, the boys take on Houses of the Holy.

This week, Rich and Danny mark the 56th anniversary of the assassination of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King with music related to the Civil Rights Movement, some vintage, some much more recent. One of the few editions of the Weekly List that we could call "important." This is some pretty powerful music. It's worth your time.

Rich & Danny go through the annual, and possibly futile, exercise of selecting which of this year’s nominees to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame should get in. They make the case for a couple folks that will likely not get in, and talk about why they don’t think a few that are likely to get in shouldn’t.

February 29th lands on a Thursday night, and Rich & Danny just can’t help themselves. They take the opportunity to switch roles this week – Rich plays the most obscure songs he can think of, while Danny plays a bunch of hit songs. Shockingly, both of them have a ton of fun doing this show. Maybe everyone even learned a little bit about themselves that night. Maybe.

Rich is fond of saying that nobody should have to apologize for the music they listen to. If you love a song, then you should never be embarrassed by that, even if the rest of the world likes to make fun of it. In celebration of Danny’s impending first Air Supply concert, the boys give up their secrets and share with you the songs they love that are decidedly uncool.

Annie Larson, Rich’s wife, returns to the show for another Valentines Day conversation. The two play songs that remind them of each other, while extolling the virtues of Orlando, Florida, Seattle, Washington, Latin music, Mesa, Arizona, and Northfield, Minnesota. Also they talk a little bit about their marriage.

This week Danny is joined by great friend of the show Mrs. Moxie to talk about the nearly 25(!) year career of P!nk. She’s great. Their great. She swears. They swear. They even bring in special guests to swear some more and make the engineering of this show that much more difficult for poor old Rich.

This week Danny steps aside to let Rich go solo in order to celebrate a guy to whom Rich says he owes quite a bit. Steve Earle is the reason Rich gave up the fight and gave in to his love of country music. And then he spends the next 90 minutes explaining why he doesn’t really think of Steve Earle as a country guy. Life is enigmatic that way. Just like Steve Earle.

A couple months ago, Rich and Danny asked Laura Meyers to join them for a show about Whitney Houston. Their friend Kristi Pursell saw that and asked, “When are we doing the Beyoncé show?” Well, with Rich on vacation, this week is a perfect time to invite Kristi in to, alongside Danny, give us a full overview of Queen Bey’s amazing solo career.

It’s the first show of the new year so, of course the boys do the one thing that Danny hates to do – look back. But as is tradition, we get a rundown of the year that was and how Danny saw things in 2023. he even brings in a special guest to talk about a song that appears on the show. It’s the 2023 Daniel G. Moir Music awards tonight on the Weekly List.

This week, for the final show of 2023, Rich and Danny are joined by Laura Meyers and Kristi Pursell. They don't commandeer the show nor do they try to beat Rich up. Instead, the four of them use a few songs each has picked to represent 2023, and they talk about the year that was. At least they try to. There are a lot of tangents in this show, folks, and it gets a little bit weepy. Just like 2023. Just like life.

Rich and Danny always try to do a Beatles-centric show in early December. This show had been on the schedule a year ago but was derailed after Danny’s unfortunate entanglement with that North Dakota Mountain Lion. A year later, with Danny’s knee mostly healed, the boys resume their annual examination of those lads from Liverpool. This time, they discuss, and of course listen to, that period of time from 1966-1967 when the band had stopped touring and was free to experiment in the studio – and with LSD – as much as they saw fit.

Commemorating what would have been Jim Morrison’s 80th Birthday on December 8th, Rich and Danny spend some time in the world of Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore. While Danny revels in this time with the Doors, Rich is forced to come to terms with the fact that, despite the fact he really likes some of their music, maybe this isn’t his favorite band.

While Whitney Houston has nothing to do, really, with Thanksgiving, we thought this might be a nice topic for the day because, well, who isn’t thankful for Whitney Houston’s music? Rich and Danny are joined tonight by their unofficial 3rd co-host, Laura Meyers, who as it turns out, is a Whitney Houston superfan. Lot’s of talk about Whitney’s amazing voice, and Danny manages to make Rich so angry he turns purple. Brothers fighting! A Thanksgiving tradition! But Whitney’s music saves the day.

With Neil Young’s 78th birthday a few days behind us and a Northfield Music Community tribute to Neil Young a few days ahead of us, Rich and Danny are joined by their old friend Ray Coudret to talk about the storied career of a guy Rich has on his personal Mount Rushmore of music. They also listen to a whole bunch of really great songs that Mr. Young wrote and performed.

Rich and Danny return to (very) familiar ground as they commemorate the 50th anniversary of Billy Joel’s Piano Man album, discussing the mythology of Billy Joel’s time in Los Angeles and early career troubles. Also (gasp!) one of them concedes that the other is the bigger Billy Joel fan. Not to be missed.

Steve Lukather is a guy Danny has been wanting to feature on a show since the day he came aboard. Lukather is quite possibly the greatest session guitarist of all time. He’s played on everyone’s records from Michael Jackson’s Beat It, to Cher’s If I Could Turn Back Time, to Randy Newman to Joni Mitchell to Barbra Streisand to Earth, Wind & Fire, and on and on and on. He’s also a founding member of Toto. This is Danny’s show, so don’t expect to hear much that you already know, but expect to learn quite a bit about a guy who is living the life Danny Moir would like to have had.

Rich and Danny are joined by their friend, Northfield’s own Drag Queen Mrs. Moxie as they take a look at the career of the legendary Dolly Parton. Honestly, the three of them just sort of fanboy – or fan queen – all over her. We’re pretty sure Rich thinks that Dolly could engineer world peace. But whatever. The music is really good.

Much to Danny’s surprise, the boys finish their three-part look at Fleetwood Mac and the three singers/front people with whom they are most closely related, with a look at Lindsey Buckingham’s full career. Yes. His full career. Not just his solo work, but all of it going back to the self-titled Fleetwood mac album from 1975. All of it. It’s fun.

Way back in August, Rich and Danny brought you a show featuring John Mellencamp and his unique brand of Midwestern Rock. The thing is, there just wasn’t enough space for the two of them to play all the music that needed to be played, and there certainly wasn’t enough for them to say everything they wanted to say about a guy they both hold in such high regard. So, tonight, you get Mellencamp, Part 2, and it’s every bit as good the second time around.

It’s another night back in the dorm room for your hosts and their favorite college band. Rich and Danny continue their exploration of R.E.M.’s music. While revelling in the rediscovery of a band they both loved in their much younger days, they discuss the importance of Mike Mills to the group, Michael Stipe’s willful mumbling, and why Bill Berry is one of Rich’s favorite drummers.

Commemorating the 11th anniversary of the most amicable breakup in history, Rich and Danny dig deep into the R.E.M. catalogue to reconnect with a band that both of them have loved since their days at St. Olaf College. Rich is so happy to be doing this show, that he is not bothered by one single song Danny has chosen. Danny, however, cannot say the same thing.

No one is more surprised by this topic than the guy who created the show, but here it is. Rich moves aside so that Danny can host a show with his old friend Mike Stiles. Danny has worked for Mike in the Minnesota Twins box office – going back to the days in the Metrodome – and the two of them are both big fans of Rick Springfield. This is a great show put together by a couple of knowledgeable and passionate fans.

The Weekly List has not played very much – if any – of John Mellencamp’s music over the years. Taking advantage of a timely anniversary the boys correct this egregious oversight by bringing you the first of two shows to honor this great singer/songwriter and champion of the Midwest.

Rich and Danny are once again joined by the owner of KYMN Radio, Jeff Johnson, as they continue to explore the quirky essays and opinions expressed by Bob Dylan in the book he published last year, The Philosophy of Modern Song. They also listen to those songs, all of which are just… you guys the music on this show is so good it’s crazy.

Rich and Danny present a full list of people they think should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. To absolutely nobody’s surprise they each have six different names, and they don’t completely agree on the other person’s list. But it only gets testy for about a minute or so. Plus there’s great music.

It’s Danny’s birthday on Saturday, which means he gets to program the show however he sees fit. He gets the intro. He picks the songs. He did opt out of the haikus, but that is how he wants it. Rich – by and large – behaves himself, but he does offer a few unvarnished opinions regarding Enya.

This week Danny and Rich circle back to a show they had wanted to do in June, but as this is the summer of screwy schedules, were forced to wait until now. Cyndi Lauper is a 16 time Grammy nominee, with two wins. She is an Emmy Award winning actress, and a Tony award winning Broadway composer. In honor of her 70th birthday, your hosts show you exactly why Cyndi Lauper is so much more than the unusual girl who sang about wanting to just have fun, and why she deserves your respect.

In anticipation of what would have been her 80th birthday, Rich and Danny honor the late great Christine McVie. This is the second installment of the boys’ unofficial look at Fleetwood Mac through the lens of the band’s three most famous singers and songwriters, but they offer a few of her solo songs as well, including two from her debut album when she recorded under her given name, the extremely appropriate, Christine Perfect.

Danny steps aside again this week so Rich can be joined by unofficial third co-host Laura Meyers and Dr. Christi Bostwick, the host of the Every Day Parenting podcast that Rich produces. They talk about the SAVE organization, Suicide Awareness Voices for Education, and the upcoming bike ride in Northfield to promote suicide prevention awareness. They also shower Christi, who has a different take on music than Rich and Laura, with music guaranteed not to make her garden.

This week marks two moments, many people never thought possible. First of all, with Danny unavailable, Rich’s daughter Katie Larson steps into the role of co-host to talk about one of her favorite musicians, Taylor Swift. Which is the other thing people would have not thought possible – Rich doing a show about a pop star. But here it is. In honor of Taylor’s Eras Tour coming through the Twin Cities this weekend, Rich and Katie bring you a show devoted to the reigning Queen of Pop, Taylor Swift.

Every June, Danny has to sit in his chair while Rich goes on and on about how much he loves his birthday, and 2023 is no different. This year, however, Rich takes an idea that Danny inadvertently gave him, and expands on the list of music from the YEAR 1975 that he was ready to play a couple weeks ago.

This week, Rich and Danny – well okay, mostly Danny, detail their undying love for Robert Smith’s band, The Cure. Not that Rich doesn’t like The Cure, because he really does, but Danny gets to talk about how he’s seen them three times, and is going to see them again for the fourth time. Rich just thinks Close to Me is better with the horns.

After getting their signals crossed, Danny is forced to take the show over. The boys discuss Danny’s newest most favourite band of all time, even as Rich wonders why they aren’t playing Fleetwood Mac, Minnie Riperton and Olivia Newton-John.

On the eve of her 75th birthday, Rich and Danny take a long look at the career of Stevie Nicks. Is she the greatest female rock star of all time? Does every man who meets her fall in love with her? Is her solo career more reflective of her talent than her work in Fleetwood Mac? Is she a witch? They talk about all the things. Also, they both agree on the fact that she is a goddess.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to sit around and listen to Billy Joel with our two hosts? Well, this week, gentle listeners, Rich and Danny offer you a peek behind the curtain. Celebrating Billy Joel’s 74th birthday (two days belated), the two essentially do the same thing they’ve been doing for 36 years. They play a bunch of random Billy Joel songs, and talk about the guy who sort of brought this pair together.
