We had the pleasure of chatting with Max Collins, singer of Eve 6 and Fitness. Max talks us through his rise to fame in the late 90s at a very young age and what it was like at the time. He candidly tells us about those early arena tours with Third Eye Blind and the continued success of Eve 6. Max has just come of the 'Songs and Stories' tour with amongst other famous songwriters, Chris Collingwood of Fountains of Wayne. Max shares a crazy story about the launch party for Fountains of Wayne's first hit. Eve 6 can be found on tour still to this day, but Max has also been busy with his other band Fitness. Today we are joined by James Scarlett, organiser and band booker of 2000 Trees and ArcTanGent festivals. James talks about how 2000 Trees Festival was conceived by him and five friends back in 2006. They wanted to create a festival that had a great a community around it and was a pleasant one to attend. 2000 Trees was born in 2007 and has been going ever since, featuring artists like Frank Turner and Jimmy Eat World over the years. The festival will welcome headliners The Gaslight Anthem later this summer as well as other impressive names. James also co-hosts the podcast '2 Promoters, 1 Pod', which provides a great insight into what it is like being a successful promoter, be sure to give it a listen. In the intro this time, Chris and Nick have a special guest in the form of Bobby Grohl from Elvana! Bobby gives us a peak into what it's like being part of the awesome machine that is Elvana. We are joined by G’Ra and Rihanna from the band Baby Got Back Talk. Forming in 2017, the band have been making catchy, pop punk songs and have attracted a large following. We discuss the band's formation and how they ended up on Wiretap Records. G’Ra recently wrote a piece for the Boston Globe 'A rollicking rebuke to the idea that rock music isn’t black music'. This was a pushback against recent comments from Rolling Stone cofounder, Jann Wenner. Baby Got Back Talk have put together a mixtape full of artists demonstrating that Wenner’s argument that woman and people of colour 'didn't articulate at that level' within rock music is nonsense. The band will also be releasing a new song and video which will accompany the article and mixtape. Keep an eye out for this soon. We are delighted to be joined by Cassadee Pope for episode 115. It's fair to say that Cassadee has had a fascinating career. We discuss her beginnings with the Warped Tour band Hey Monday and coming up in that scene. After Hey Monday disbanded, Cassadee entered The Voice in the US, which she ended up winning. This led to a successful career in the pop-country world. Most recently, she has embarked on a welcome return to pop punk. We dicuss all of this as well as what the future holds for her.
