Fans of The Walking Dead know it's so much more than a zombie show. It's an emotionally rich, character-driven series about love and loss, and found family, and the lengths we'd go through to protect the people we care about. That's what's kept us coming back all these years. (And also we like zombies.)
I’m Jason Cabassi. My cohost Karen and I started podcasting about The Walking Dead back in 2010. Along the way, I’ve appeared on the show a couple of times as a walker, hosted hundreds of Q&A panels with TWD actors at conventions across the U.S., and eventually teamed up with my current co-host, the witty and insightful Lucy Hinnie. Together—with some incredible guests—we’ve covered The Last of Us and every Walking Dead spinoff, from Fear to Dead City.
Right now, we’re enjoying a rewatch of the original series—with the full story in mind—and diving into the moments that still hit hard. Past guests on the podcast include Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Robert Kirkman, Angela Kang, Greg Nicotero, and many more.
And the most fun and fulfilling part of all this has absolutely been interacting with you guys and making it a conversation. So write in, send a voice message, and be part of it!

Could Negan be more of a total piece of s#!t that he is in this episode. Good thing it was an extra long one, in case we didn’t have our fill. I (Jason) actually did think it was a good episode. But it made me wish they could’ve wrapped up the Savior war right quick though. Lucy’s away this ep, and so I’m to be joined by Alex to talk this one out!

720: Resident Evil (2026)
Saturday, September 26, 2026 • Duration 01:44:15
The Resident Evil film series has a spotty reputation at best. Forget about all that, because this latest iteration has Ron Anderson (aka Austin Abrams) in it! And also, it’s directed by visionary new horror director Zach Cregger (Barbarian, Weapons), who’s never even seen any of the other RE movies, but loves the games, and it really shows. Whether you’re a Resident Evil fan or just like a thrilling, fun, and surprisingly funny action horror movie, special guest Rima and I highly recommend checking this one out, and then come back and listen to us geek out about it.
Next up: TWD S7E3 “The Cell”, with Jason, Lucy, and special guest Randy. Let us know your thoughts!

Hear ye! Hear ye! Good people of the realm! This podcast doth mark the triumphant return of thy humble and most grateful hosts, Jason and Lucy (joined by our most esteemed and fair guest Robyn) to discourse upon a most delightful chapter of The Walking Dead! Herein we witness the grand arrival of His Majesty King Ezekiel, sovereign of the Kingdom; the magnificent and fearsome Shiva; and that most jovial and faithful steward, Jerry! And lo, many other personages grace our tale—including Jared, he of the most exceedingly punchable face. So gather ye round, partake of the fruit, drink from the well (and replenish the well), and join us as we talketh it out!
P.S. A great and thunderous HUZZAH to Ben and Alex, who served as most able and wonderful stewards of this podcast whilst we journeyed afar, guiding us faithfully through the wilds of The Walking Dead: Dead City. Our deepest thanks unto them. Three cheers for Ben and Alex!
Next upon our journey: Jason and Rima venture forth to discuss the new Resident Evil movie, now playing in theaters throughout the realm. If thou hast witnessed it, send us thy thoughts!

Ben and Alex are back one last time to close the book on The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3, turning the microphones over to the Zedheads for their thoughts on the finale, “Tenebrae,” and the season as a whole.
This week, they dig into a huge batch of listener feedback while revisiting Maggie and Negan’s remarkable evolution, Hershel’s transformation into one of the season’s biggest surprises, the impact of characters like Luis, Renata and Dillard, and why the seemingly disconnected pieces of the season ultimately came together to tell a much bigger story. Along the way, they unpack some fantastic callbacks and symbolism listeners caught, debate what a potential Season 4 could look like, and speculate about whether Dead City could eventually become a meeting point for characters from across the larger Walking Dead universe.
Most importantly, Ben and Alex take some time to thank everyone who watched, listened, wrote in, called, theorized, disagreed, overthought things and went off on countless tangents with them throughout the season. The Dead City coverage may be finished for now, but the Zedheads made this season one hell of a ride.
And yes... there are still plenty of completely unnecessary tangents along the way.

Wow, this slow-burn show picked up the pace in the second half of season three, and we’re totally digging it (pun!). Thrilling to see so many questions answered, and new ones raised, and to find out that the final season isn’t too far away — July 9, 2007! Join Jason, Veronica, and Amelie as we get into all the details of the second half of Silo season 3, maybe our favorite segment of this series so far.

717: TWD: Dead City S3E8 "Tenebrae"
Monday, September 14, 2026 • Duration 02:00:10
Ben and Alex are back to break down The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 finale, Episode 8, “Tenebrae,” as Maggie, Negan and Hershel fight to take back Manhattan and one of the strongest seasons of Dead City yet comes to a close.
This week, they dive into the final showdown with Dillard, Hershel stepping into his own as a leader, and the huge emotional payoff to Maggie and Negan’s evolving relationship. They also discuss how seemingly every piece of Season 3 ultimately mattered, Maggie finally embracing the kind of leader she can become, and why the finale feels less like the end of a story and more like a soft reboot launching Dead City into something much bigger.
Plus, plenty of listener feedback on “Hourglass,” thoughts on Season 3 as a whole, speculation about where Maggie and Negan could go from here, and whether the show may finally be positioning itself to reconnect with the larger Walking Dead universe.
Next up: Listener feedback for TWD: Dead City S3E8 “Tenebrae” and Dead City S3 as a whole. Let us know your thoughts!
Ben and Alex are back to break down The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3, Episode 7, “Hourglass,” as the penultimate episode delivers the payoff to several storylines that have been building all season and leaves them desperate to see what happens next.
This week, they dive into Dillard’s transformation into the threat hiding in plain sight, Renata’s struggle to hold onto her ideals, and some of the strongest Maggie and Negan material Dead City has given us yet. They also discuss how “Genesis” changes the way they view Maggie and Negan’s relationship, Negan’s surprising vulnerability and desire for Maggie to find her happy ending, Maggie’s connection with Luis, and whether Dillard really is the season’s “big bad” or simply the latest test in a season where survival itself has been the real enemy.
Plus, a ton of listener feedback on “Genesis,” theories and predictions heading into the Season 3 finale, and plenty of the usual tangents along the way.
Next up: TWD: Dead City S3E8 “Hourglass”, the season 3 finale. Let us know your thoughts!
Ben and Alex are back to break down The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3, Episode 6, “Genesis,” and an episode that may not advance the main story very far—but could be one of the most important explorations of Maggie and Negan the franchise has ever given us.
This week, they dive deep into what this alternate timeline reveals about the core of both characters: Maggie’s lifelong struggle to let go of the past, Negan’s inability to control his darker impulses even when his intentions are good, and the fascinating idea that these two may be destined to find and influence one another no matter what life they’re living. They also discuss the emotional return of Beth, how differently Maggie’s life may have unfolded without the apocalypse, the episode’s themes of fate and choice, and whether Maggie and Negan’s connection runs even deeper than either of them realizes.
Plus, plenty of listener feedback from “Imperialis,” some fantastic hidden details and callbacks scattered throughout the alternate New York, theories about what all of this means heading into the final two episodes, and a special message for the Zedheads from The Walking Dead’s Ross Marquand!

714: TWD: Dead City S3E5 "Imperialis"
Monday, August 24, 2026 • Duration 01:21:08
Ben and Alex are back to break down The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3, Episode 5, “Imperialis,” as the struggle to rebuild Manhattan begins exposing some serious cracks beneath the surface.
This week, they dive into the formation of the wonderfully bizarre Dead Squad, the growing divide over how this new society should be governed, Dillard finally finding a group where he belongs, and the increasingly complicated dynamic between Maggie and Negan. But it's the episode's shocking final confrontation that really gets the conversation going, as Ben and Alex debate whether Negan crossed a line—or simply did what no one else was willing to do.
Plus, plenty of listener feedback, theories about the developing power struggle between Maggie, Renata and Negan, some speculation about where the final three episodes could take us, and the usual assortment of wonderfully inappropriate detours along the way.

Also on Wax Episodic:
We cover these other intelligent, engaging, oftentimes delightfully twisted series:
Severance (Apple TV): A mind-bending show where office workers’ minds are severed into two selves, one that exists only at work, and the other only outside. It’s beautiful, brilliant, funny, gripping, mysterious, thrilling, thought-provoking, and meticulously crafted in every way. Hosted by Jason and Karen’s innies.
Fallout (Amazon): A crazy retro-futuristic, post-apocalyptic melange of wholesomeness and depravity. One of the best looking shows on TV, funny as hell, violent AF (but in a cartoony way), with a great cast, including Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) and Walton Goggins (The White Lotus, The Righteous Gemstones). Not to be missed! Hosted by Jason, Kara, and Kasi.
Pluribus (Apple TV): Everyone is transformed into a pleasant hive mind — except for Carol (Rhea Seehorn), the most miserable woman on the planet, who must save the world from happiness. It sounds weird, and it is… in the best way. Created by the great Vince Gilligan, of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Hosted by Jason and Karen.
IT:Welcome to Derry (HBO): A fun, scary, and surprisingly great prequel to the 2016 and 2019 IT movies, with Pennywise stalking the children of 1962 Derry. A mix of heart, mystery, charm, and some shockingly disturbing Nightmare on Elm Street-esque horror. Cohosted by Shawn of Strange Indeed.
Alien: Earth (FX): From the brilliant Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion), this one really scratches that sci-fi itch. A greedy corporate tech overlord transfers the consciousness of a group of terminally ill children into highly performant synth bodies. And the Xenomorph is in it, too. Also, Tim Olyphant! Hosted by Jason, Kara, and Randy.
