| TAMP Season 6 Episode 17 Beth and Nick Munduro de Tontos | 29 Jul 2024 | 00:58:44 | |
"Nick and Beth, a young British couple, embarked on the journey of a lifetime; a motorcycle expedition from Texas to Ushuaia, Argentina. However, their adventure took a harrowing turn in Belize: It's almost 1am and Beth and Nick are camped in an established campground in Belize when five men armed with guns and machetes cut their way into the tent claiming to be police. After being pulled outside, the pair were then bound with ropes and forced to surrender all their possessions: Phones, GPS devices, Cameras, Go Pros, Helmet Comms, Tools, $700 in cash and memory cards filled with cherished trip photographs. This process involved an hour of Beth and Nick watching while the thieves broke into / cut open all their luggage, tipping all of their belongings onto the floor in pouring rain. Within the hour Beth and Nick’s losses amounted to almost 7000 GBP / 8800 USD. Sadly it gets worse. After finding some spent ammunition kept as a souvenir from the USA, the thieves believed Beth and Nick were armed. Repeated explanations about the spent brass were in vain and Nick endured physical assault, being repeatedly kicked in the face with his hands tied behind his back, he was hit in the back of the head with a hunting rifle and suffered a bad concussion. Beth endured a terrifying sexual assault. Nick described to me the terror they felt while thieves put a machete to each of their throats and pointed a gun at their kneecaps, repeatedly counting down to zero in an attempt to make them reveal the location of the non-existent guns. Beth and Nick were eventually left, albeit with nothing of value but their motorcycles (which the thieves were unable to operate) face down in the mud with the hands tied. They remained here for several hours before being freed. The police were then called, who visited the scene of the crime at 4am for just 30 minutes before leaving without offering the couple any shelter, form of communication, or peace of mind. Despite the trauma and lack of support from local authorities, Nick and Beth displayed remarkable resilience. They decided to leave the campsite immediately for their own safety, packing their soaked belongings into what luggage was still useable, they rode through the night seeking refuge in a gas station 40km away until the morning. Thanks Chaps.Hope you like it...Here are the links to Greg and Noel's films that we touch upon,Finding Grandmahttps://youtu.be/QCRI7YEAJZ4F_Roads of Icelandhttps://youtu.be/3WHX1sXunJg

| TAMP Season 2 Episode 3 Northern Trip Part II | 11 Jan 2021 | 01:00:19 | |
We are back again, apologising again, but ill health, all good now, and a broken laptop have conspired against us, but here we are...In this episode we de-brief our recent trip around the north of England to celebrate Greg's 40th, (I know! Doesn't he look older!)which is captured in the marvelous film which accompanies this podcast -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAXg6xfw-YIWe definitively decide which is the best bike, maybe not, and Noel forgets his golden rules for camping, but then remembers it's all about not changing your underpants. Do podcasts really get any better?
| TAMP Season 2 Episode 2 Northern Trip Part I | 09 Aug 2020 | 00:51:52 | |
It's been a while, sorry for being a bit useless. Life is very busy despite lock-down... This is part one of the story of our cancelled trip to the Spanish Pyrenees, where we went to the north east and west of our own fair island. Fun was had, beer was drunk, bikes were discussed, disaster was averted. Love was shown to the KTM 125 EXC (even by Noel) and Star Wars. Ever wondered what blokes talk about around a campfire? It's probably less interesting than you think. (CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE)
| TAMP Season 2 Episode 1 Cumbria TRF Oral Histories Part 1 | 27 Feb 2020 | 01:06:42 | |
We're back for season 2, sorry, it's been a while. But we think you are going to like this one. We witter on for a bit before handing over to Steve Stout and some very long standing members of Cumbria TRF, Steve and Roger, who have been riding since the sixties, before the birth of the TRF. They tell us about their earliest riding experiences and some great stories from over 50 years of trail riding. This is part 1, more to follow, not sure how many, depends on when the stories run out...

| TAMP Season 1 Episode 8 With Chris Bone | 25 Feb 2019 | 01:20:43 | |
Chris Bone talks us through his amazing 5 month trip from Yorkshire to the southern most tip of south Africa, crossing 25 countries. Whilst not swimming with crocodiles, nor meeting the Christmas vacationing gorillas, nonetheless Chris tells some great stories like the ones where he ignored some machete wielding 'amateur bandits' and ran away from a drunken immigration official. We get to the bottom of daily life on the road in Africa and ponder the continuing existence of old overland motorbikes.
| TAMP Season 1 Episode 7 With Tim Cooper | 19 Dec 2018 | 01:01:43 | |
In this episode we welcome, or I should say I welcome, as poor Noel is sick, Tim Cooper of 'UKJeeper' fame. Tim has recently ridden 11,000 miles in 6 weeks across the Trans America Trail. Amongst the many top TAT tips Tim tells us (t'alliteration!) how he flew with his bike to Canada and back for not much more money than the price I was recently quoted to get my bike shipped from Manchester to southern Spain! I hope you enjoy it, if you did, please let us have any feedback on our Facebook page. Cheers.

| TAMP Season 1 Episode 6 Back with the TAMP Team | 29 Nov 2018 | 00:57:39 | |
In this long awaited 6th episode we are trialing our new recording equipment, which will hopefully banish bad sound quality for ever. Noel has been scouting new TET trails in northern Spain whilst being chased by wild boars. We visit the bike show, and in our imaginations, come away with a Honda CRF250L, a KTM 690 Adventure, the new Norton Atlas Scrambler and a Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE. We ponder whether AJP have made the best TET bike ever (AJP PR7 Adventure), discuss emotional attachments to inanimate objects and our differing views on, well, everything, but especially safety gear.
| TAMP Seaon 1 Episode 5 With Steve Stout And Lucy Dunn | 12 Sep 2018 | 01:22:25 | |
We are joined by Steve Stout and Lucy Dunn. Steve was the driving force behind the re-building of the Old Coach Road in north Cumbria. From the TAT to the TET, Steve has traveled and worked all over the world and tells us some great tales from his time in places like Antarctica, and why he is opposed to HEP schemes in Albania. The sound quality is a bit rubbish, sorry, we need to improve our microphone technique! But Steve tells a very informative and instructional story of how he managed and funded the work on the Old Coach Road. If you contributed, it's a fine way of finding out where your money went.

| TAMP Season 1 Episode 2 The TET Special with John Ross | 12 Jul 2018 | 00:36:11 | |
Welcome to our second podcast. We recorded this one on location at a Lake District log cabin, near a river. Sadly the sound of the river was terrible, so we had to apply some noise reduction, which has distorted the sound somewhat. We hope you don't find it too distracting. We are new to this, and are not professionals, so bear with us, we will get better!

| TAMP Season 5 Episode 11 The Helmet Inspection Company Martin Slowey | 20 Nov 2023 | 00:46:43 | |
https://helmetinspection.co.uk/ Our decision-making can also be fuelled if we’ve never had to call on our helmet to save us from serious injury. If there’s little or no visible signs of damage, we’ve now got the perfect storm and it becomes easy to convince ourselves it’ll be okay. Out of sight, out of mind. When our founder accidentally dropped a new motorcycle helmet, he wanted to know if it would continue to perform as intended, or if he needed to retire the helmet and purchase a replacement. Is it still safe to use? The thought of shelling out for a replacement wasn’t appealing. Friends provided anecdotal evidence and further words of reassurance, all suggesting the helmet would be okay to continue to use:
All very convincing … so the helmet continued to be used for another few months. But our man was far from convinced, and the doubt was creeping in when he was out on his bike. He took the helmet to his local retailer, and asked the OEM-trained technician to carry out an inspection. The retailer provided a thorough visual inspection and declared It should be fine As thorough as this visual inspection appeared to be, the result wasn’t convincing. What would happen if a different technician were to carry out another visual inspection on the same helmet? He left the retailer’s premises with doubts and still lacked peace of mind. Is my helmet still safe to use? So, we fixed it for you. We’ve created a service that’s both affordable and convenient. And with an efficient 4-5 working days turnaround we don’t tie your helmet up at our lab for weeks on end. What About The Dropped Helmet? Safety-critical damage was identified during our test – and a new helmet was purchased. Does That Mean A Dropped Helmet Is Definitely Compromised? Since we started providing our service in July 2021, we’ve tested thousands of customer helmets and the pass rate is currently 75%."
