The Kemper profiler launched in 2011 and has been primarily amplifier focused
Now they’re profiling some well-known overdrives with OS 8.0
Ibanez/Maxon TS808 and TS9, Klon, Horizon Devices Precision Drive, Boss OD-1 and SD-1, Analogman King of Tone, Timmy, and the Marshall Bluesbreaker Mk1
It’s interesting to think about Kemper being one of the oldest modern modelers yet is still a standard people talk about. Will drives keep them relevant?
Reverb.com is making a feature-length documentary film about guitar pedals
Told by the people who make them and the artists that use them.
There’s a couple of exclusive pedals being made in promotion of the film
Chase Bliss Audio and Z.Vex have paired up for a tricked out version of the Fuzz Factory
Earthquaker Devices and Death By Audio paired up for the Time Shadows. A sub-harmonic multi-delay resonator.
Both are limited to 1000 units, sound really cool, and have already sold out!

People have heard us talk about the Fat Guy Little Coat fuzz a lot lately. Tell us about how you started pedal building.
The thing I love about it is, it’s a fuzz but it behaves like a distortion or overdrive. Hard to explain but it’s about how it feels when I hit the string. How do you even do that?
Tell us about the new PCB version. How does it work to translate a circuit design?

BONUS: The CopperSound Pedals/Third Man Records TRIPLEGRAPH
28 Sep 2020
01:23:46
The Triplegraph is a digital octave pedal designed by CopperSound Pedals and Jack White, featuring three proprietary telegraph keys and an integrated auxiliary loop. Utilizing a high-power DSP Blackfin Processor, Triplegraph triggers an octave down with the left key, octave up with the right key, while the middle key activates a killswitch or auxiliary loop.
In KILL mode, the middle key acts as a momentary killswitch, allowing the player to remove their dry signal and attain a fully wet octave up and/or down when used in conjunction with the octave keys.
In AUXILIARY mode, the player can connect one or more of their favorite effects in parallel with the octaves via the send/return jacks, and trigger them in momentary bursts. The high and low octaves can be triggered in parallel with the dry signal when the octave keys are pressed independently.
The octaves themselves track seamlessly with zero latency and can be triggered in latching or momentary modes, using our “Loctave” toggle switches. The telegraph keys themselves are composed of custom stainless steel and aluminum components, making them indestructible and exceedingly durable for both hand and foot operation. Over four years in the making, the collaborative result is an innovative, state of the art clean-tracking octave pedal, capable of standing its own against industry standards.
Limited Edition and Standard Edition Bundles
There are two special bundles available for Triplegraph: The Limited Edition model comes with an exclusive Yellow finish, black and white print, a custom steel machined serial badge plate, a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Jack himself, and a custom-designed book, all elegantly packed in a special edition box. There are only 100 Limited Edition units available.
All of the Standard Editions are finished in a sharp, matte black finish with yellow and white print, packed in a standard box. Both models come with a custom-designed 130+ page book that documents the entire process; spanning over four years of prototyping, engineering, building, road testing, and stories from this exciting collaboration, all designed and photographed by CopperSound.

Julia, one of the best selling chorus/vibrato pedals out there has an update!
Now in stereo! Pedal sends dry to one amp and wet to the other
Tap tempo footswitch with subdivision as well as an external tap/expression input
Expression can control dept, rate, or both.
Toggle switch for wave shape (triangle, sine, and random)
Momentary secondary controls
Hold down the bypass switch allows you to set a secondary LFO rate and control the amount of drift added to the LFO
Drift gently speeds and slows the LFO rate. Not randomized, but still variable.
Hold the Tap switch to activate secondary sounds.
Controls for rate, depth, lag, and D-C-V
Lag lets you set the center delay time that the LFO modulates around.
D-C-V blend is setting the ratio of dry to wet signal through the mono channel. Vibrato fully clockwise, chorus around noon, dry fully counter-clockwise

Bass gear for guitarists? (stab: Analog Man SunFace) Affordable options for gear (either amps or modeling)
“Options for the guitarist who is plenty far along and knows how things work but hasn’t spent time with a bass”
Why are we never satisfied with our signal chain? (stab: Killbyte delay)

What gear do we each want to get? (stab: I forgot to do one, and it’s already late so… too bad!) Not stuff from Pedal Genie, but what gear is on your wishlist?
Push/push button on the pickguard toggles between normal guitar operation and bypassing the controls to a stereo cable.
The guitar is stereo. Using a Y cable, you can send each pickup to a different destination.
Dustin uses Helix live and this allows him to create patches that also control the pickup selection on his guitar. One into the guitar input, the other into the FX loop return.
Expression can blend between the two pickups, or you can use a block on/off to switch
Has cool things like a sub octave in the echo, an auto swell mode, dream mode which has a latching mode
Really powerful filter controls, a sustain switch, and an X knob that changes its use based on what setting you’re on.
Fathom is a multi-function reverb with 4 different reverb algorithms
Hall, plate, lo-fi, and sonar
Lo-fi is a filtered reverb with an AM radio sound, or really lush chorus-y/tape sounds
Sonar has both a low and high octave included. The X knob blends the high octave in.
Now both of these are in one enclosure
In/Out for each pedal? Like that weird distortion from last week. BUT, this allows you to insert other pedals between the two reverbs. When not in use, it’s still one input and one output. SMART.

Small builder from Righteous Ryan - DEMEDASH EFFECTS (stab: Kilobyte Delay)
Made in Canada by Steve Demedash.
Steve currently makes 2 pedals: the T-120 Videotape Echo and the 112+ Drive Channel
Inspired by the garbled audio that comes from cruddy, worn out VHS tapes.
It sounds extremely good. Like, this is more than just a modulated delay.
Controls for time, echo, intensity, depth, speed, and tape quality
It’s available in a standard and a deluxe version. Deluxe has soft switching, echo trails, full wet to full dry mix, self oscillation switch, stereo out via TRS
Maxon 40th Anniversary OD808 (stab: Alexander Amnesia)
Originally released in 1979
Maxon 808 circuit was later licensed by Ibanzed to make the Tubescreamer
The anniversary edition is modded by Robert Keely!
“Max-gain” knob for increased gain, output, and low end response.
400 units worldwide, the first 40 of which will be signed by Robert Keely
Strymon Iridium (stab: JHS Bonsai)
Amp and IR Cab in a pedal
Three amps: Fender Deluxe Reverb, Vox AC30, Marshall Plexi Superlead
9 included cabinets, option to load your own IRs, headphone output on the front makes for easy home use.
This is smart because it moves amp and cab modeling into a pedal size
$400, but it’s probably easier to get a grip on than something like an HX stomp for a lot of people
Thank you again to all of our patrons for supporting us! We're really overwhelmed by the response and we're so glad you're here.
BIG NEWS: The Tone Control has started a PATREON page! For $1 a month you get our undying love and thanks for helping to keep the show going. For $2 a month you can listen to us record the show LIVE on Discord. OH YEAH, WE'RE ON DISCORD.

Stereo in/out, tempo/expression in, built in tap tempo
11 modes! Analog bucket brigade, standard digital delay, tape, warm, reverse, digital delay + reverb, shimmer, modulated delay, warp (holding the footswitch allows for increase in feedback/level), GLT (glitch. Kind of like a tremolo or a delay sample/repeat, no decay. Expression can control rate/pitch)
Looper holds up to 40seconds mono, 20 seconds stereo
We're blasting through the questions from last time!
Cheap vs. Expensive pedals?
Will the pedal craze die down soon? Has it already? Do we need more?
What popular piece of gear just didn't do the trick for you?
Offset Fender issues; mostly the bridge. Discuss. (note: get a Mastery!)
What's in Justin's studio?
Hit us up with questions ANYTIME on our website, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter! Lastly, if you're listening on Anchor, you can leave us a voicemail with a question that we can pop in the show!
After about two years of rosewood being banned from crossing international borders, the CITES committee is lifting the ban “on all “finished” instruments with rosewood”
It wasn’t impossible before, but it was a major hassle and lots of paperwork and red tape were involved.
Makes your guitar sound like other guitars *pretty* well
Record a target guitar (strat in the example), then record the same passage with a source guitar (les paul), it does some quick math and black magic, and boom, your LP sounds like a Strat.
Holds 7 sounds
Can work as a basic EQ pedal if not using a sound clone
True or buffered bypass
Price TBD, but MOOER tends to be pretty affordable
Y’all remember the Revival Drive? This is a more affordable (read: still expensive) version
Can be used into a flat response power amp as shown in the demo video
Insane control over amp-type parameters, but in a more standard pedal size.

Bodacious Brian’s big, big rigs and also sometimes little rigs too! (stab: RedWitch Empress)
Brian mentioned to me that we should do OUR OWN rigs for BBBBRAASLRT
Derek: Guitar of choice (leaning towards fender style bodies with Gibson style parts). At home I’m now using the HX Stomp, but I also have a small pedalboard with a Smallsound/Bigsound Mini, MIJ BF-2 Flanger, EHX Memory Toy, and HOF mini, into either the HX or an Orange micro-terror (just a practice amp mostly).
Live/Band: Polytune, Ernie ball volume, Coppersound custom stutter/vol, Script Phase 90, Fulltone plimsoul, EP Booster, Small Clone chorus, Coppersound Loma Prieta, OBNE Procession Reverb, Strymon Timeline, then into the front of a jumped and crispy AC30 w/Greenbacks. (Alex also built me a footswitch for amp reverb/trem)

They released a statement FINALLY. They acknowledged that this is something they have to do but their tone was all wrong. Too little too late, and the actual statement still didn’t soften things much.
Apparently they have threatened dealers with legal action unless they stop selling Dean guitars, alleges Dean.
It’s a tube screamer with three clipping modes. Like a super baby Palisades.
Symmetrical LED clipping, OpAmp distortion, Asymmetrical silicon diode clipping
Level, tone, and gain controls.
Relay based true bypass with momentary option.
The real killer feature is that it’s $99.
TS Mini is $79, TS9 is $99, TS808 is $179. Boutique pedal company getting in at those low prices. Cool!
Discussion topic idea from fan-of-the-show Eric Giribaldi (stab: WA Plainsman)
“What do you do when you reach a crossroads with your equipment?”
As in, coming to terms with not needing 11 overdrive pedals, needs vs. wants.
Guitarists are weird people. We want all the latest cool tech and big rigs, but also want the simplicity of grab-and-go, maybe some pedals, and an amp.
Downsizing your set up. When is it time to sell?

Ernie Ball VP Jr. (stab: Chicka-wahh)
I asked them when this sucker would be out and they said winter 2019.
Gibson’s “Play Authentic” marketing results in them suing Dean (stab: Bogner Wessex)
They’re claiming that any copy of one of their design styles or trademarks is “a counterfeit gibson guitar”. Which I guess they’re saying is what Dean is doing?
“To the manufactureres out there, we want you to know that you’ve been warned.”
“This isn’t about us trying to be bullies, or trying to stifle the boutique marketplace. This is about protecting our legacy”, except you’re also being bullies!
Watch out, literally everyone else.
They added a counterfeit submission form to their website so you can blow the whistle on anyone you think is infringing on Gibson’s trademarks… So, since they’re going after Dean, I guess this means anyone is eligible.
The Gig Rig makes that G2 switcher thing that is bananapants crazy
Wetter Box allows you to blend your effects in parallel in real time.
Blend any effect with your direct signal, or blend 2 effects together
Blend controllable via expression pedal! WHAT?!
Stereo via TRS, phase flip on loop B, independent gain controls on each loop, internal voltage doubling, internally isolated power, true or buffered bypass,
2 modes: Blend will cross fade from A to B, and Mix will add B to A.

Vlog style, super informative videos about pedals and how they work, why they are the way they are, history, examples, not just a big JHS sales pitch. Nice.
