In this episode, we discuss how women's hormone levels impact their brain activity, mood, memory, attention span, energy levels, sleep, creativity, workout results, and weight fluctuations, and run on a 28-day cycle. Men's hormone levels run on a 24-hour cycle, so their body reboots and starts over after 24 hours, and that is one of many reasons why weight management is an entirely different ball game for men and women.
Women can benefit from leveraging their menstrual cycle to achieve their goals, including weight loss, maximising workouts, and scheduling tasks or projects for times when they are feeling more productive or creative. The 'Fast' Track To Success? Female Hormones & Fasting
02 May 2023
00:18:34
In this episode, we'll be discussing fasting and how it impacts female hormones.
Fasting is a popular trend among many people seeking to lose weight, improve their health, or boost their productivity. But what are the implications for women, especially when it comes to hormones? We'll be exploring the latest research and offering practical tips and advice for women who are considering fasting or already incorporating it into their health regimen.
Hormonal changes are a natural part of a woman's life, but they can also be influenced by external factors such as diet and lifestyle choices. Fasting can affect hormone levels, including cortisol, insulin, and estrogen, which can have both positive and negative effects on the body. We'll dive deeper into the science behind how fasting affects female hormones and what women should be aware of when considering fasting.
Fasting has been linked to several health benefits, including weight loss, improved metabolism, and reduced inflammation. However, there are also potential drawbacks to fasting, especially for women, such as disrupted menstrual cycles, lower energy levels, and negative impacts on fertility and reproductive health. We'll discuss the pros and cons of fasting for women's health, and how women can balance the benefits with the potential risks.
There are lots of dodgy claims and products out there when it comes to weight loss, and you'd be right to be skeptical when it comes to detoxes as most are just a very expensive bowel flush!
But there's more to this topic than just warning you away from another faddy diet, in fact, there's plenty you could and should do to support your liver to help improve weight loss results and to prevent weight loss plateaus.
I explain how detoxification is linked to weight, where people go wrong, and what to do instead in this week's episode.
I also share my favourite fact from the past week, and this one's about how pollution impacts brain health, plus I answer a listener's letter all about the new testosterone patches.
It can be a big decision, deciding whether or not to take HRT. You've probably heard stories of cancer risks, blood clots and weight gain, but you also know that your menopause/ hormone symptoms are making life unbearable... so what do you do?
Many women want to do things as naturally as possible, but could that be compromising your long-term health?
This in this episode, I explain the unbiased pros and cons of HRT (and bHRT) based on what the research says, and how to minimise the risks. Plus I highlight some of the benefits of HRT too, so that you can make an informed decision. Enjoy!

Why The Thyroid Becomes Imbalanced + Solutions (part 2)
28 Mar 2023
00:14:58
In this episode, I'm continuing the discussion about the thyroid and digging into why it can become imbalanced in the first place. Once you understand why the thyroid runs into problems, you'll be closer to understanding the root cause of your thyroid problems (whether diagnosed or just suspected). I'm also talking about fat bias and answering a question about what the next steps are when your blood tests say everything is normal.
Belly fat is typically more difficult to shift that fat elsewhere on the body. Why? Because oftentimes, it's not caused by overeating, and therefore, dieting doesn't shift it.
In this episode, I explain why cortisol is such a problem and why it becomes even more problematic in peri-menopause, and mostly importantly, what you can do to lower cortisol.
I also share a fact about coffee, which will make it easier to reduce your caffeine intake, plus I answer a listener's letter about some shocking chocolate news.
Time and time again, women reach out to me because weight loss becomes seemingly impossible after age 40. So in this episode, I explain why that happens, with a particular focus on sex hormones and how to start balancing them.
I also explain why it can be difficult to find 'free' information online about how to balance your hormones, share my favourite fact of the week all about broccoli and answers a listener's letter.
Have you ever gone to your doctors because you're tired and can't lose weight, only to be told that everything's fine? Frustrating, I know. In this episode, I explain what's going on here, and why your blood test results may not have been normal afterall. I also share my favourite fact of the week and this one's going to help you naturally feel more motivated to exercise. Plus, I answer a listener's letter all about slow progress.
Today's episode is an introduction to hormones. You'll be getting an overview of the key players and you'll learn how hormones become imbalanced in the first place so that you can start to review and amend the foundations you have in place. I'll also be going through a client's question about a specific weight loss supplement, and sharing my favourite fact from the week all about plant-based meat alternatives.
In this episode, I'm diving into what causes a sluggish metabolism, or rather, metabolic downregulation. You'll discover why it happens and what you can do to reverse the damage and prevent it from happening again... I also share my favourite fact from this week, and this time it'll help you improve your memory. Lastly, I go through a listener's letter.
This week we are talking about the first nutrition/ lifestyle focus you should have if you want to set yourself up for weight loss that lasts, while feeling amazing, and that is your blood sugar balance. I also answer a listener's letter all about improving gut health to support weight loss and lasting, I share my favourite fact of the week.
Developing a healthy relationship with food is a key piece of your weight loss journey. Why Slimming World Works for Some Women Over 40 (But Not You & What to Do Instead)
05 May 2025
00:38:34
Have you ever wondered why Slimming World or Weight Watchers stop working after 40? Maybe they helped you lose weight in your 20s or 30s, but now... nothing seems to shift. Or maybe your friend is flying on the same plan, and you’re stuck thinking "Why is it working for her and not for me?"
If you're a woman over 40 struggling with stubborn weight, low energy, or feeling like your body has stopped responding to the things that used to work, this episode will help you understand why, and what to do differently.
Inside this episode, I’ll break down:
Why traditional weight loss programmes for women over 40 often backfire
The impact of perimenopause and hormonal changes on your metabolism
Why Slimming World stops working in midlife (even if it used to help)
The hidden cost of following calorie-controlled, carb-heavy diets after 40
How to spot signs of metabolic damage from years of yo-yo dieting
What a sustainable, hormone-friendly fat loss strategy looks like
How to reset your metabolism without cutting carbs or counting calories
We’ll also explore the connection between female hormone imbalances, poor sleep, cravings, belly fat, and why fat loss after 40 is about more than just willpower or eating less.
This isn’t just about weight loss. It’s about restoring energy, building metabolic resilience, and supporting your body through midlife and menopause in a way that feels good, and lasts.

In this episode, I’m joined by one of my lovely clients who shares her incredibly relatable story of feeling stressed, stuck, and unhappy in her body, despite eating well and doing “all the right things.”

24 Mar 2025
00:39:18
The weight loss supplement industry is a multi-billion-pound business, and it thrives on false promises. If you’ve ever spent money on fat burners, detox teas, metabolism boosters, or hormone-balancing supplements, hoping for an easy fix, you’re not alone. The problem isn’t you! It’s the misleading marketing designed to keep you stuck.
In this episode, I’m exposing the five biggest weight loss supplement scams that claim to help you burn fat, speed up metabolism, or balance your hormones, but actually do more harm than good.
We’ll cover:
Why fat burners don’t actually burn fat (and can even slow metabolism)
How appetite suppressants backfire and leave you with worse cravings
The truth about detox teas and cleanses, why they don’t “reset” your body
Why collagen isn’t a weight loss tool (and what to use instead)
The problem with greens powders and why they don’t replace real food
BONUS: The hormone-balancing supplement myth: why they don’t work unless you know what’s causing the imbalance
And more importantly, we’ll talk about what actually works for sustainable fat loss, without relying on expensive, overhyped supplements.
