38: Why Now is the Perfect Time to Reset Your Parenting04 juin 202500:17:27

Let's face it: summer isn't really much of a break for parents.

Unstructured time often equals more chaos

Teens often dysregulate in summer without rhythm.

And, you're dysregulated at the thought of them being dysregulated (aka you're snappy at the thought of them being moody)

In this episode:

✨ Destress and reset your parenting mindset.
✨ Redefine summer success for your family
✨ Embrace this season for growth and connection
✨ Focus on yourself first to positively influence your teen's behavior.

That's why it's important for you to know that now is the perfect time to hit the reset button, and when you do your whole summer will be better! Because 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞...𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠.

36: [Time & Energy 3] Solution-Focused Boundaries that Motivate Teens14 mai 202500:13:47

To culminate this 3-part series on time and energy (and how to make the most of it!) I wanted to focus on an area that comes up a lot in my coaching practice with parents and my THRIVE membership parent group: boundaries that motivate our teens and lead to more connection, follow-through, and solutions to challenges.

End of school pressures, expectations, and deadlines can lead to teens breaking down, ignoring work, procrastinating, putting in minimal effort because it's just too much pressure...and you're left feeling exhausted and drained, while the clock is ticking!

If you can relate, listen in to learn:

  • Why verbal reminders alone are blocking your teen's motivation and self-drive (and draining your energy!)
  • Why boundaries are a gift of freedom
  • The #1 way you have control

30: How to help your teen who 'hates' school26 mars 202500:14:36

Got a teen who 'hates' school?

You're not alone.

Hearing this from our tweens and teens is more common than you might realize.
With finals, projects, their ever-changing social world, and the pressure of the school year winding down, you may feel like you have little control over how it all unfolds, and your stress is mounting, too.

But as I like to always remind you: you have more power and influence than you realize, and it starts inside this episode.

Listen in to learn:

- Why your teen says they hate school (and what’s really underneath it)
- 3 simple shifts that help them manage stress and get back on track
- How to support them without nagging, battling, or constant frustration

In many homes, this time of year is not a time to grit our teeth and live in stress for the next few months.

It's time to connect, resource ourselves, and finish strong.

As always, I'm here to help.

29: The keys to parent with more peace and instantly de-stress your life21 mars 202500:21:05

I won't sugarcoat this: stress is all around us. You know it and feel it.

What you may not realize is what it really is and how it's impacting connection with your teen, and their ability to do what they need to do.

Knowing this is the foundation of self-regulation.

In this episode, I'm sharing something I've never shared before: my new mini-training 'DE-STRESS' on the 6 Keys to Self-Regulation: what it really means, why it’s the foundation of a thriving parent-teen relationship, and how to break the cycle of reactive parenting specifically with your tween or teen.

If you’ve ever found yourself snapping, shutting down, or feeling completely drained by your teen’s behavior, this is a must-listen!

🔥 What You’ll Learn:

✅ The science behind emotional regulation (and why it’s key for your teen’s success)
✅ How your stress response impacts your child’s ability to self-regulate
✅ 3 of the 6 (often hidden) stress domains (categories) that fuel reactivity—and how to recognize them

13: 3 conversations you must have with your teen05 nov. 202400:15:27

Welcome to The Teenage Guide podcast!

I often get asked...

"What do I say?"

"How do I say that?"

"When do I say it?"

And, I get it: when we want to talk to our teens about something important it can feel like approaching our crush in middle school. Awkward. And, where to even begin?!

In this week's episode, I share 3 must-have conversation topics to broach with your teen - and I challenge you to start them in the next 30 days or less!

Each conversation:

  • builds confidence in yourself
  • helps you understand what goes on in their mind
  • builds trust between you

...And, they all might build discomfort inside you and require about 10 seconds of courage. You've got this.

The good news: these conversations DO NOT need to be one-and-done sit down tell-all's. They are sprinkled into weekly life.

As I coach parents around the world, I see universal patterns in simple tools to improve open communication with our teens, and why it matters so much. This episode is a portal into those patterns. Listen in NOW!

BOUNDARIES...

What are they? & Why are they so important to you and your t(w)een thriving individually and together?

As I coach parents around the world, I see universal trends in how our challenges are often related to boundaries (or lack thereof).

Instead of thinking of them as this hard, cold, angry line, inside this episode I help you shift to seeing them as an essential (& loving) part of true wellness for you and your t(w)een from the inside out.

Inside this episode I share:

  • My simple definition of boundaries
  • How they've been a cornerstone (& gigantic teacher!) inside my own life as a parent and as a coach
  • 3 Reasons why yours might not be working with your t(w)een, and what to do instead.

Expectations around parenting in today's culture can be really overwhelming.

So many 'should's', responsibilities, meetings, daily routines, to-do's, and more.

Maybe you feel like you're trying to keep your head above water with everything going on, and is it ever really enough? The to-do's are endless, and never really get to the heart and soul of what you and your t(w)een need.

Since I'm on a mission to change the way you relate to parenting a t(w)eenager, this also means changing the way you relate to yourself.

That's why I'm so excited for this week's episode.

4: What to do when your t(w)een breaks down09 août 202400:05:33

Do you feel helpless when your teen is breaking down—and just want to do something to fix it fast?

When I say 'breaking down' I'm referring to any time your tween or teen lashes out, has an emotional reaction to stress, conflict, or overwhelm, and/or takes out their stress on you.

These instances can happen a lot throughout adolescence, and it can be challenging to know what to do as the parent.

So, in this quick episode, I share what you should do first when your t(w)een breaks down.

  • Stop asking “What should I do?” and start asking what really matters
  • Learn the one shift that changes everything when your teen is spiraling
  • Understand why sitting through the discomfort (yep, no quick fixes) is key
  • Discover how this small change builds long-term trust & connection

Afterwards, the next step will be clearer, and you're one step closer to feeling better from the inside out.

2: 3 (rarely talked about) things about tweens and teens you must understand06 août 202400:16:09

Just because your t(w)een is moody, distant, or suddenly obsessed with their social life… doesn’t mean they don’t need you.   But the truth is—there are 3 rarely talked about things going on beneath the surface during adolescence that most parents never hear about. And if you don’t know them, it’s easy to misread your kid’s behavior and lose your connection.   In this episode, I share 3 (rarely talked about) things you must understand about your tween or teen.

  • Think their moods are just about hormones changing? Think again.
  • The intangible transformation driving their identity-formation that must be cultivated
  • An uncommon belief I know to be true

Once you understand these 3 things, daily interactions become less stressful because you're focused on what's really going on...
