The Year of The Hermit
Episode 152
dimanche 5 janvier 2025 • Duration 23:10
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I’m exploring the collective and personal energy of 2025, a year ruled by The Hermit. From a numerological perspective, 2025 reduces to 9, aligning us with the wisdom, solitude, and introspection of this archetype.
In this episode, I reflect on key elements of The Hermit—the lantern, staff, cloak, and the path they walk—all offering us unique insights into how we can navigate our inner and outer worlds this year.
I also share an exciting project inspired by this archetype: a nearly 200-page guided journal filled with prompts, rituals, tarot spreads, and more to guide you throughout 2025. You can grab the fillable, digital version or a physical copy here.
Let’s embrace The Hermit’s wisdom together. Wishing you an insightful, healthy, and transformative 2025!

Who I was, Who I am, Who I am becoming
Episode 151
dimanche 29 décembre 2024 • Duration 24:40
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I’m reflecting on the last year and my personal relationship to vulnerability. A few weeks ago, we reached the 150th episode of this podcast, and I’ve been quietly contemplating the journey that brought us here. To those of you who have been with me since the beginning, and to the newer listeners who’ve joined along the way—thank you. Your support and engagement mean the world to me.
Lately, I’ve found myself at a crossroads, grappling with personal challenges that have tested my resilience. As I step into a new era of vulnerability, I’m sharing some deeply personal solstice and birthday reflections with you.
In this episode, I pull three tarot cards to explore who I was, who I am, and who I am becoming:
Who I Was: Judgement (Reversed) — A reminder to relinquish control, codependency, and people pleasing in order to embrace freedom.
Who I Am: Ten of Pentacles (Reversed) — Facing fear and seeking the courage required to rebuild after life shreds the future narrative I wrote.
Who I Am Becoming: King of Cups (Reversed) — Embracing the importance of confronting emotional restraint and allowing my emotional messiness to be witnessed.
Through these reflections, I’m embracing the messiness of growth and inviting you to do the same. My hope for 2025 is that we all open ourselves up to being seen, loved, and accepted in our full complexity. Join me for this deeply personal journey and reflect on how your own tarot cards might mirror your path.

The Culmination of Suffering: An Analysis of the Ten of Swords
Episode 142
dimanche 1 septembre 2024 • Duration 25:12
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I am analyzing the symbolism of the Ten of Swords, focusing on its representation of fear, judgment, and self-sabotage.
I explore how this card encapsulates the culmination of suffering and defeat, not only from external forces but often from our own internalized fears. This episode looks at self-sabotage behaviors driven by the dread of being perceived or judged, how that prevents us from reaching our true potential and how we can shift to begin uncovering deeper truths about our lives and relationships.
Throughout this episode, I pull the Page of Pentacles, Knight of Wands, Four of Pentacles, and Two of Cups to help expand the discussion. I also spend time touching on Carl Jung’s theories on the shadow, the importance of parts work through Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the universal experience of projection.

Healing Perfectionism
Episode 52
dimanche 10 avril 2022 • Duration 47:00
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we tackle the topic of perfectionism – what it is, why we experience it, and most importantly, what on earth we should do with it.
We’ve all known a perfectionist, or been one ourselves, and although perfectionism isn’t technically a diagnosable disorder - we all know how debilitating it can be. The truth is, it’s hard to be a perfectionist and it’s also hard to live with one. On this episode, we explore both experiences and how to navigate them.
The cards come flying out as we explore the Four of Swords and Six of Wands, The Hermit and Reversed Ace of Wands. We sling cards like mad in this episode, as well as getting real about how perfectionism plays a role in our own relationship with each other.
Plus, Shannon shares a life changing mantra given to her by her own therapist over a decade ago that’s helped her deal with her own perfectionism. She gets raw and vulnerable - you’re not going to want to miss this one!

The Truth About Forgiveness
Episode 51
dimanche 3 avril 2022 • Duration 40:30
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis, we venture into the complicated landscape of forgiveness. It’s a topic we’ve thought about addressing for a long time, but it’s a tough one to wrestle with because there’s such a huge variation of situations to consider when talking about forgiveness.
Is forgiveness even an appropriate response in some circumstances?
Are there times when forgiveness is a smart move?
Or… do we need to think about forgiveness in a different way entirely?
Join us as we travel from Eight of Swords and the Revered Hermit, to Three of Wands and Queen of Cups and unpack the idea: What can forgiveness give me?
Fun fact: This is our 51st episode and to date it’s the only one where we had zero edits. Normally we will have to pause to gather our thoughts or do a quick check in about the direction we are taking the conversation. This was a conversation that didn’t stop once. It’s an episode we are both really smitten with. We hope you enjoy it and get as much out of it as we both did.

This is Embarrassing
Episode 50
dimanche 27 mars 2022 • Duration 42:29
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis we get down and dirty with the cringe worthy topic of… embarrassment.
It’s a human emotion we all have, but it’s one most of us prefer not to think about. But, it turns out that taking the time to really deconstruct the sensation of embarrassment is actually quite enlightening.
From Nine of Swords to King of Cups, we go deep not only on what embarrassment is and why we feel it, but also how it can teach us and how we can use it as a powerful tool.
Join us for this not-to-be-missed discussion, where we both talk not only about how to manage embarrassment, but also tell our own embarrassing stories (hint: the teen years were rough for both of us).

Intuitive & Intentional Living
Episode 49
dimanche 13 mars 2022 • Duration 40:27
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we decided to talk about something we found interesting… but didn’t really know how to talk about it.
It began with a simple phrase - “living intuitively.” We both loved the way that sounded. How great would that be? (Cue images of self dancing on a beach in a gauzy dress at sunset)
It only took a few seconds to realize that we didn’t actually know what that meant, or what it would look like. We started asking “Is that the same thing as being mindful? How is intuitive living different than living intentionally? And how the heck do we do any of those things while still living in the real world?” (Cue images of wiping up dog puke and getting stuck in traffic)
So, we decided to intentionally be mindful in our conversation and let our intuition guide us, and it ended up being a great time.
Join us as we go from the reversed Six of Cups and The Devil into a deep dive of some of the queens and The High Priestess all while we unpack ways to be more thoughtful in our lives, and how tarot can help guide us.
*Side note* Shannon apologizes for some minor audio issues on her end.

Responding vs. Reacting
Episode 48
dimanche 6 mars 2022 • Duration 41:10
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis, we spend some time with the idea of Responding vs. Reacting - which really is a conversation about how to live our lives in a more mindful and purposeful way.
We all experience that knee-jerk reaction from time-to-time, but what happens when we become more aware of that inclination and shift away from reactivity? We start the discussion by realizing this is essentially the goal of therapy. Then,
Shannon takes us on a journey from her initial card, Reverse Princess (Page) of Disks (Pentacles) to a full on embrace of trying to live more like the Queen of Pentacles, and Luna breaks down how The Moon card relates to responding vs. reacting in a symbolic blow by blow. Knight energy, all the five's and the Nine of Wands, and the Two of Swords get lots of attention too.
In the end, we ask the question “Am I living deliberately, or am I living in patterns?” And that’s a question we should all be asking ourselves.
Join us for this rich conversation, filled with cards, quotes, neuroscience, and bit of practical advice. You don’t want to miss this one!

The Negative Thinking Trap
Episode 47
dimanche 27 février 2022 • Duration 42:49
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast we decided to spend with a topic that we tackle A LOT in our clinical practices: negative thinking.
Some very smart people who came before us did us all the favor of studying and categorizing different types of negative thinking. The few we are exploring this week include: mental filtering, personalizing, catastrophizing and polarizing. Having this way of thinking and talking about the ideas in our brains makes it so much easier to notice them, and potentially make changes. Throw a little tarot in the mix- and you get one heck of a conversation!
Actually - throw a bunch of tarot in, because we pulled cards galore in this episode! Want to know what Two of Wands has got do with personalization, Reverse Ace of Wands with catastrophizing, Four of Cups with mental filtering or Queen of Wands with mental filtering? We got you.
There’s a ton of cards, and a ton of information in this episodes that can help just about anyone (because, come on, don’t you fall into negative thinking from time to time?)

To Parent...Or not to Parent
Episode 46
dimanche 20 février 2022 • Duration 46:25
This week on The Tarot Diagnosis we boldly tackle a topic that we’ve been thinking of discussing for a while but honesty kept avoiding:
To Parent or Not to Parent.
We had a listener reach out and ask us to explore their feelings of needing to create something - but they weren't sure if that was a human life with their partner or something else.
From the get-go, we just could not find common ground on this topic… and that was really unusual for us, and pretty interesting. Eventually we were able to just call it out - that our own experiences and views, both as human beings and as therapists, differed.
We spend the rest of the episode figuring out what to do with this realization, which eventually lead us to finding a space of commonality- but in some ways we think this is actually the most interesting part of this episode. It’s a real journey to listen to two people who really love each other and normally are totally aligned fall out of step and then listen to them recover the conversation in a way that could honor each voice, while still holding fast to the relationship.
So, this is in many ways two episodes in one. It’s an episode about deciding to be a parent (or not), and it’s also an episode about how to have uncomfortable conversations.
Oh, and there’s also a bunch of tarot - And probably not the cards you might expect!
