Welcome to this episode of The Hormone Balance Solution podcast where I answer some of the most commonly asked questions about hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

I know many women have concerns about HRT, and I hope to provide some clarity on this topic via this episode.

HRT is very health-protective and can significantly reduce our risk of disease states such as dementia, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis. But there's still so much fear surrounding HRT, and this is frustrating because this fear is misplaced.

There are reasons why people are fearful of HRT but you shouldn't be, and in this episode I explain how the fear started, why it's misplaced, and how HRT - when done right - isn't only safe, but very health-protective and a necessary part of healthy ageing.

Balanced blood sugar is foundational to hormonal balance and also to your overall health in general.

Balanced blood sugar is foundational to hormonal balance and also to your overall health in general. It's one of the foundational things we must do first, before we can even hope to overcome our symptoms and improve our health.

Not only is balancing our blood sugar a hormone supportive foundation, but having imbalanced blood sugar is also extremely dangerous - especially as we enter into our 40's and beyond. And the thing is, your blood sugar is probably imbalanced.

Consistant, balanced blood sugar takes some effort.

You see, it does take some effort to consistently balance blood sugar, but this is such an important thing you need to do if you don't want to feel like crap or set yourself up for disease states later in life like dementia, weight gain, Type 2 Diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, (strokes and heart attacks etc).

DIY-ing your supplements can be at best a waste of money & at worst very dangerous. What you need to know.18 Apr 202300:31:51

In this episode I touch on something that is SUPER important - more important than many understand I believe, and this isn't anyone's fault.

We're all trying to do our best and trying to feel our best, and often women are desperate to feel better so they will try almost anything.

This includes supplements they read about online or see in-store, over the counter. But just because a health practitioner talks about a supplement online doesn't mean this will be helpful for YOU.

And just because something is sold over the counter doesn't mean it can't be harmful. There's so much out there that people think are, not only benign, but HELPFUL - and this isn't always the case.

My point? DIY-ing your supplements can be a waste of money at best and harmful at worst and in this episode I dive into this in more detail.

You won't heal your body if you don't heal your nervous system: an amazing conversation with Michelle Robinson06 Apr 202300:57:51

In this episode I spoke with my right hand gal in The HBS; Michelle Robinson, and wow! What an amazing conversation we had. We spoke about the importance of nervous system work and - before you turn away!

This episode is a must-listen for you if: 
  • you feel like you're constantly anxious

  • you speak really fast all the time, perhaps you interrupt people
  • you never feel like you have enough time in your day - you're always "busy" 
  • you continuously struggle with your health no matter what you do or how many tests you run / practitioners you work with 
  • you can't relax or find it hard to slow down or do "nothing"
  • you feel like you're constantly in "fight or flight" 
  • you're often sad 
  • you have trouble with relationships 
  • you're a perfectionist or over-analyse things 

 

Michelle was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and premature ovarian failure in her mid 30s. This kicked her out of her global corporate career and made her reassess her life. It was a functional medicine approach that gave her the answers she was seeking and got her back on her feet again. Over the past 10 years, Michelle has undertaken extensive training in the principals of functional medicine, advanced functional testing, and the complex web of infections. She has a deep passion for healing and is fully trained in advanced healing techniques that help to release emotional trauma, uncover old limiting beliefs as well as self sabotaging behaviour. She found that calming her dysregulated nervous system was a big piece of her health puzzle and she now guides her clients in these healing modalities as well. 

We spoke about WHY nervous system or "emotional" work is so important in a healing journey, and Michelle explained some of the modalities she teaches which she's seen produce huge shifts in her clients. 

We spoke about how it's a flexible mind that equals resilience and why being resilient is important in life, especially as we go through hormonal changes such as we do in our peri-menopausal years. And we spoke about how nervous system work supports this resiliency. We also spoke about the 9 saboteurs that impact us all and why becoming aware of these saboteurs is instrumental in improving mental health and the functioning of the nervous system.

This is a 2 part episode in which I discuss the very important topic of the dangers of birth control pills that you may not be aware of.

Unfortunately, this information isn't readily available, which in my opinion is a crime.

This is why I ask that you share this episode with as many female friends and family members you can, so we can spread this knowledge and hopefully prevent some nasty side effects from women who take the pill when there are other safer alternatives they can explore. In this episode I speak about:

We spoke about how the tongue is connected to your face structure, your breathing, even your toes!

We spoke about teeth clenching, (it's not all parasites and stress related) and how your tongue position can affect your hunched shoulders as well as back and neck tension.

We also spoke about tongue tie and the epidemic of small jaws and elongated face shapes and why this is ocurring - and how to prevent it. This is a must-listen also for those with crowded teeth too. You see, I hear this a lot from women but the truth is, often they've not actually tried "everything" - and this should give them hope. There's often so much more to explore and I explain it all in this episode. I go down the list of things you must look at before you say "I've tried everything!". See how many you can tick off.

129: Hypothyroidism goes undiagnosed all the time in midlife. This episode: everything you need to know to ensure this doesn't happen to you.13 May 202500:23:21

Your thyroid is not just "another hormone"—it's the maestro that sets the tempo for your whole body, and it especially needs love as progesterone drops in perimenopause. But here's the problem: so many practitioners still miss the real story. If all you've had checked is your TSH and you were told "it's normal," you could still be sidelined by sluggish thyroid symptoms—because so much more is happening under the surface.

A full thyroid panel really matters. That means pushing for TSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies. But it doesn't stop with testing. You need someone looking at your labs with a functional lens (the 'optimal' prevention-focused ranges, not just "fine for the average population") and someone who understands the nuances—like how stress, inflammation, and gut health all play a role in your thyroid feeling sluggish.
