America 250—America Throws Itself a Birthday Party (S2. Chapter 37)09 Jun 202600:11:07

America is turning 250, and Lloyd Dobler is not bringing a casserole.

In Chapter 37 of The Tao of Lloyd, America250 becomes the starting point for a darkly funny meditation on patriotism, propaganda, charity, silence, empire, and the difference between celebration and repair.

With Palantir, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Coinbase — and somehow Cracker Barrel — helping sponsor the national birthday party, Lloyd asks whether America needs fireworks, or whether America needs five minutes of actual stillness.

This episode riffs on Chapter 37 of the Tao Te Ching, where the Tao “never does anything, yet through it all things are done,” and asks what might happen if America stopped performing innocence long enough to tell the truth.

From the edge of empire — and the center of self — this is The Tao of Lloyd.

Bonus: The Tao of Lloyd Goes to Edinburgh Fringe03 Jun 202600:10:03

Go Fund me: https://www.gofundme.com/f/Tao-of-Lloyd-Goes-to-Edinburgh-Fringe
Website: https://www.taooflloyd.com/

This is not a traditional Tao of Lloyd episode.

There is no Tao Te Ching chapter today. No sorta-kinda guided meditation. No carefully structured spiritual detour through the burning wreckage of American empire.

This one is more direct.

One year after launching The Tao of Lloyd as a strange little podcast experiment, the show is becoming a live solo theater piece — written and performed by Dennis Trainor Jr. — and heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for a full run in August 2026.

In this special anniversary episode, Dennis steps out from behind the usual format to talk about how the podcast grew into a stage show, what Edinburgh represents, why this opportunity matters, and why he is asking listeners, friends, and supporters to help fund the next phase.

The GoFundMe campaign supports costs connected to Boston rehearsals, travel, London rehearsals and previews, Edinburgh production expenses, marketing, and the thousand small costs that come with getting an independent solo show across the ocean and onto the stage.

So yes: this is a transparent donation ask.

But it is also a thank-you note, a one-year marker, and a report from the weird little borderland where podcasting, theater, spiritual refusal, Gen X nostalgia, and late-stage everything somehow became one project.

If The Tao of Lloyd has meant something to you this past year, please consider supporting the live show.

The Kids on the Bus (S2. Chapter 36)27 May 202600:13:14

Pete Hegseth stood at West Point and gave the graduates a story in which the enemy is legible, the mission is clean, and unity means everyone sings the same song.

Lloyd knows that song.

He sang it once. On a school bus in 1979, to a girl named Layla who looked out the window and pretended not to hear.

Chapter 36 of the Tao Te Ching says the soft overcomes the hard.

Lloyd isn't sure he believes that yet.

But he's choosing to, for now.

The Meridian Doctrine (S2.Chapter 35)21 May 202600:14:10

What happens when affirmation becomes more intoxicating than action?

Lloyd Dobler gets invited to speak at an exclusive corporate retreat hosted by Meridian Systems, where billionaire futurists, wellness branding, political power, and technological “innovation” all begin to blur into something deeply unsettling.

What starts as a sorta-kinda guided meditation becomes a story about ego, revolution, performance, and the seductive danger of being seen by the very systems you claim to oppose.

Along the way:

  • Lloyd gets shouted down at an activist healing circle in Los Angeles
  • bombs at a London open mic featuring AI-assisted breakup poetry and a Fleetwood Mac divorce musical
  • hears Lao Tzu and Lin-Manuel Miranda fighting for control of his conscience

The Tao of Lloyd blends fiction, commentary, satire, and real-world events. Some characters, scenes, and narrative elements are fictionalized. The headlines, unfortunately, are real.

Peter Thiel, Silicon Valley Messiah, Would Like to Sell You a Ticket to the Ark (S2. Chapter 34)13 May 202600:13:52

What happens when a 2,500-year-old Taoist philosophy collides with Peter Thiel, Palantir, billionaire apocalypse bunkers, and the theology of ownership?

In Chapter 34 of The Tao of Lloyd, Lloyd Dobler takes apart the worldview of Silicon Valley's techno-billionaire class — where monopoly is virtue, surveillance is infrastructure, and even the apocalypse becomes a business opportunity. Drawing from Chapter 34 of the Tao Te Ching, Lloyd explores Peter Thiel's philosophy of power, Palantir's role in surveillance and immigration enforcement, billionaire escape fantasies, and the growing belief that the future should belong only to "the exceptional."

But this episode isn't just political satire. It's a spiritual wrestling match.

Can Taoist non-attachment survive late-stage capitalism? Is meditation liberation… or just stress management for empire? And what happens when a civilization forgets the difference between nourishment and ownership?

This is the podcast where Lloyd meditates specifically so he doesn't find the Unabomber's graphic design relatable. So far it's working. Mostly.

Blending Taoist philosophy, Gen X humor, political commentary, and existential dread, The Tao of Lloyd asks whether the real resistance might still be found in ordinary people quietly taking care of one another while the powerful try to privatize the future itself.

From the edge of empire — and the center of self — this is The Tao of Lloyd.

What if The Story Chooses You? (S2. Chapter 33)05 May 202600:12:02

Self-knowledge, identity, and Tao Te Ching Chapter 33: when knowing yourself isn’t peaceful, and the story shaping you may not be your own.

What if you don’t choose your story… what if it chooses you?

Chapter 33 of the Tao Te Ching tells us: “Knowing yourself is true wisdom.”
Simple, right? Slap it on a refrigerator magnet and call it enlightenment.

Not so fast.

This week, Lloyd Dobler wrestles with what happens when you look inside and don’t find the peaceful monk—you find the guy in the background of the monk’s Instagram story wondering if maybe… the table should be flipped.

From billion-dollar war economies to Broadway revolutionaries, from Alan Watts and the multiverse to the uncomfortable logic behind radical acts, Lloyd asks a question most of us avoid:

What if the distance between who you think you are and who you could become… is just a story you’ve tuned into?

Because if story plus belief plus repetition equals reality—then we’ve got a situation.

Once you’re inside the story…
you don’t choose your actions.

The story chooses you.

A Gen X Manifesto for Surviving Late-Stage Everything28 Apr 202600:16:42

What if Gen X wasn’t apathetic? What if we were just early to the end everyone else is still calling normal?

Before burnout became a personality, before “late-stage capitalism” became a punchline, there was a generation raised on latchkey independence, mixtape philosophy, and the quiet suspicion that none of this was built to last.

In this episode, Lloyd Dobler returns to deliver a Gen X Manifesto for Late-Stage Everything—a kinda-sorta guided meditation for surviving the collapse without losing your sense of humor… or your soul.

This one moves through:

  • the myth of apathy vs. the reality of disillusionment
  • what Gen X saw coming (and what we missed anyway)
  • why burnout isn’t failure—it’s feedback
  • Taoist non-forcing as a survival strategy (not a surrender)
  • and how “quitting” might actually be the most honest move left

It’s part cultural critique, part spiritual riff, part anti-self-help mixtape labeled in Sharpie:

Side A: The System Is Glitching
Side B: You’re Not Crazy

No gurus. No solutions.
Just a middle-aged zen-punk dissident duct-taping ancient wisdom to the slow-motion unravelling of the American experiment.

Close your eyes. Or don’t.
Either way… you’re already in it.

From the edge of empire and the center of self—
this is The Tao of Lloyd.

What Is Our One Demand? (S2. Chapter 32)21 Apr 202600:16:49

Lloyd Dobler revisits Occupy Wall Street, a broken projector in a 1996 indie cinema, and the lesson one stranger in the dark understood before he did.

What if movements fail not because they ask too much, but because they forget they’re also rehearsals for the world that comes next?

In this chapter, Lloyd reflects on the brief moment millions of Americans recognized that the system is held together by habit, fear, and our participation. He also remembers the night a screening of Trainspotting fell apart—and an old man calmly revealed why he really came to the movies.

Part political memory, part guided meditation, part Gen X confession, this episode asks:

What is our one demand?

Stupid Bloody Tuesday (S2. Chapter 31)07 Apr 202600:14:23

What happens when war starts to feel like content?

In this episode of The Tao of Lloyd, Lloyd Dobler takes on Chapter 31 of the Tao Te Ching—an ancient meditation on violence, restraint, and the human cost of war—and drags it straight through a modern moment where geopolitical threats sound like product launches.

Blending Taoist philosophy, Beatles lyrics (“I Am the Walrus”), and sharp political satire, Lloyd explores how easily we turn enemies into caricatures, and how quickly “unthinkable” becomes just another Tuesday.

Featuring:

– Trump’s Iran threat and the normalization of escalation

– Chapter 31 of the Tao Te Ching: “Weapons are tools of fear”

– John Lennon, Ram Dass, and the illusion of “us vs. them”

– Why resistance without awareness risks repeating the pattern

Operation Epic Missing Endgame (S2. Chapter 30)31 Mar 202600:14:23

What happens when momentum replaces strategy?

Blending satire, Taoist philosophy, and cultural commentary, Lloyd explores the law of counterforce and why pushing harder doesn’t mean winning, and why every escalation eventually pushes back.

In this episode of The Tao of Lloyd, Lloyd Dobler takes on Chapter 30 of the Tao Te Ching—an ancient warning about force, escalation, and wars with no exits—and drags it straight through the U.S./Israel war with Iran, the fractures inside the MAGA coalition, and a political movement discovering that the very thing that made it powerful may now be the thing that breaks it.

Featuring:
CPAC 2026 and the MAGA generational split
Trump, Iran, and the problem of “no endgame”
Chapter 30 of the Tao Te Ching: “For every force there is a counterforce”
An open letter to “Operation Epic Fury”

Because sometimes the most radical move
is knowing when to stop.

A Case for Regime Change in the USA (S2. Chapter 29)25 Mar 202600:14:36

Is the revolution something you force… or something you stop preventing? Lloyd Dobler makes the case for regime change in the United States—not as a partisan power shift, but as a complete dismantling of the underlying system: billionaires, war economies, corporate media narratives, and the stories we tell ourselves about what’s possible.

And then the Tao interrupts.

Is wu-wei—non-forcing, right action without domination—a path forward in an age of collapse? Or is it just another form of complicity?

Featuring reflections on Ursula K. Le Guin, Arundhati Roy, and the uncomfortable truth that real change may begin not with overthrowing governments—but with refusing the stories that sustain them.

This is a Zen-punk meditation on power, participation, and the question no one wants to sit with:

Is the revolution something you force… or something you stop preventing?

Yin, Yang, and the Secretary of Armageddon (S2. Chapter 28)17 Mar 202600:13:12

Lloyd reads Chapter 28 of the Tao Te Ching against militarized masculinity, performative strength, and the political theater of domination.

Beginning with Pete Hegseth and widening into war budgets, denied healthcare, and America’s addiction to hardness, Lloyd asks what happens when power forgets its opposite.

A meditation on strength, softness, empire, and why civilizations that worship force eventually forget how to hold anything gently.

Includes an open letter to Pete Hegseth and one very Taoist suggestion: sit still, then resign.

Iran, Empire, and the Blowback Cycle10 Mar 202600:26:30

Iran, U.S. foreign policy, war, empire, and blowback take center stage in this special episode of The Tao of Lloyd. Breaking from the show’s usual one-chapter-at-a-time Tao Te Ching format, Lloyd traces the machinery of propaganda, American intervention in Iran, Trump-era spectacle, and the spiritual cost of living inside empire. Anti-war commentary, satire, political critique, and philosophy for people trying to stay human while power markets destruction as peace.

The Memory Hole (Part 3) — Repeat (S2. Chapter 27)02 Mar 202600:10:08

The Memory Hole (Part 3) — Repeat (Tao Te Ching Chapter 27 Explained)

We’ve talked about the erase. We’ve talked about the replace. Now we hit the part that should scare you most: the repeat—the wear-down cycle that turns chaos into background noise and teaches you to self-censor before anyone even has to order you to.

In this episode, Lloyd traces the oldest playbook threatened power always reaches for: Erase. Replace. Repeat. Not as a conspiracy—just as a pattern history keeps handing us, again and again, in different costumes.

Then we plant one question you can actually live with:

If the repeat is inevitable… what does it mean to be the kind of person who interrupts the pattern?
Not saves it. Not fixes it. Not “wins.”
Just interrupts. Long enough to pass the truth forward.

Includes a short “I’m not your spiritual advisor” meditation, a reading of Tao Te Ching Chapter 27, and the great secret at the center of this trilogy: the work isn’t about arrival—it’s about direction.

The Memory Hole (Part 2) — Replace (S2. Chapter 26)26 Feb 202600:11:03

Tao Te Ching Chapter 26 Explained: “The Heavy Is the Root of the Light” | The Tao of Lloyd

Fascism isn’t just a shredder, it’s a Photoshop subscription that won’t stop automatic billing.

In Season 2, Chapter 26 of The Tao of Lloyd, Lloyd Dobler continues The Memory Hole trilogy with Part 2: Replace—the moment power stops merely deleting history and starts installing a cleaner, more patriotic “unifying narrative”in its place. From Stonewall “neutrality” to museum rewrites and myth-polished founding fathers, Lloyd tracks how replacement spreads: not through force first, but through tone, manners, and the pressure to “not make anyone uncomfortable.”

Then we drop into Chapter 26 of the Tao Te Ching: “The heavy is the root of the light.” .

What are you carrying that someone told you was divisive? and what would happen if you refused to put it down?

The Memory Hole (Part 1) — Erase (S2. Chapter 25)25 Feb 202600:11:15

Erasing History: The Trump Administration's Memory Hole | Tao Te Ching Ch. 25

They didn't just remove a historical exhibit. A federal judge had to order them to put it back.

In Part 1 of The Memory Hole trilogy, Lloyd Dobler takes Chapter 25 of the Tao Te Ching and uses it to diagnose the Trump administration's favorite three-step wellness routine: delete the receipts, slap "unity" on the lie, and scream DOW 50,000 like it's moral absolution.

This episode is about erasure. The Stonewall flag. The Philadelphia slavery panels. The Smithsonian reframing directive. And the thing nobody in the outrage coverage is saying: we're not watching history get erased. We're watching the erasure of the erasure's correction. The memory hole has a memory hole inside it.

Featuring: Orwell (reluctantly), Oney Judge, Lao Tzu, and the witness protection program for your soul.

Pam Bondi and The Dow of MAGA vs. The Tao of Lloyd (S2. Chapter 24)19 Feb 202600:12:30

Pam Bondi screams, “The Dow is over 50,000!” when asked about Jeffrey Epstein’s co-conspirators.

And suddenly the mask slips.

Is it deflection? Gaslighting? Or is it translation?

In Chapter 24 of the Tao of Lloyd,  Lloyd Dobler explores what happens when performance replaces truth, when the market matters more than the missing, when green arrows outweigh human beings, and when even resistance starts to feel like auditioning.

Because here’s the uncomfortable twist:

It’s not just Pam Bondi performing.

It’s all of us.

Using Chapter 24 of the Tao Te Ching: “Just do your job, then let go”, Lloyd wrestles with spectacle, credibility, outrage, and the empire’s operating system that demands we shine, define, and prove ourselves constantly.

The Dow of MAGA vs. the Tao of Lloyd.

Performance vs. presence.

The Lloyd Dobler Sit-Down Uprising (S2. Chapter 23)16 Feb 202600:10:44

What if the most anti-fascist thing you can do today is… sit down and get quiet?
In S2 · Chapter 23: The Lloyd Dobler Sit-Down Uprising, Lloyd Dobler takes Chapter 23 of the Tao Te Ching: “express yourself completely, then keep quiet”—and turns it into a spiritual practice with political teeth.

Because the system doesn’t just want your labor—it wants your attention. It wants you jittery, reactive, scrolling… so you never do the one thing that scares it: get clear.

This episode includes a Tao Te Ching reading, a guided “sort-of meditation,” and Lloyd’s most embarrassingly practical proposal yet: what if refusal isn’t cinematic? What if it’s small, repeatable, contagious… and it starts with you sitting down, breaking the trance, and choosing a different move?

Harness Your No (S2. Chapter 22)29 Jan 202600:17:28

Minneapolis. January 2026. Lloyd Dobler drops a chapter that refuses to “perform coherence” while the empire insists your eyes are lying.

This is The Tao of Lloyd: a zen-punk mixtape meditation where Lloyd duct-tapes each of the 81 chapters of the Tao Te Ching to the collapse of American empire like a sticky note that says: Be kind. Rewind. Revolt. Meaning: refuse to cooperate with the lie.

In Chapter 22, Lloyd reads the Tao Te Ching’s paradox like a message in a bottle that just washed up on the shore of Minneapolis:

  • If you want to become whole, let yourself be partial.
  • If you want to become straight, let yourself be crooked.
  • If you want to be reborn, let yourself die.

Then he tries to live that teaching in real time: grief that won’t clean itself up, rage that wants certainty, and the question underneath everything—what does wu-wei (not forcing) mean when the machine keeps calling murder “just doing its job”?

This isn’t “five steps to inner peace.” It’s practice that doesn’t gaslight you: breathe, stay present, and choose what you do next—without branding your grief.

Topics: Tao Te Ching Chapter 22, wu-wei, nervous system, propaganda, legitimacy crisis, noncooperation, refusal, late-stage everything.

Late Stage Everything (S2. Chapter 21)05 Jan 202600:09:57

If Late Stage Everything is when the system still runs—just not for humans, have we arrived there yet?

In Chapter 21 of the Tao of Lloyd, Lloyd Dobler (yes, that Lloyd Dobler) drops a zen-punk mixtape meditation for doomscroll times. When your phone buzzes like a casino slot machine designed by a sociopath, your nervous system is getting hit with endless war + climate catastrophe + AI apocalypse before coffee, and “normal life” feels like a group project run by billionaires.

Chapter 21 is not “five steps to inner peace.” It’s a chapter about learning to stop clinging—to takes, to outrage, to certainty, to the fantasy that one more refresh will make everything make sense. It's about learning to trust what you can’t get your hands around. Lloyd makes the case that radiance doesn’t come from knowing more or refreshing harder; it comes from letting go of the demand for certainty. Not checking out—just stopping the constant clench long enough for the mud to settle, so you can see your right action. That's wu-wei.

Morning Meditation: Try Again. Fail Again. Fail Better01 Jan 202600:08:39

A morning meditation with Lloyd Dobler—yes, from Say Anything—all grown up and trying (imperfectly) to become a dissident sorta-guru.

This is a repeatable ~10-minute practice for mornings when you woke up tired, hit snooze too many times, or you’re already commuting to the capitalist timeclock circus.

Built around four “sacred questions” (popularized by Deepak Chopra):
Who am I? What do I want? What is my purpose? What am I grateful for?

Expect breath cues, monkey mind interruptions, cultural critique, and permission to meditate badly—because not all of us can disappear to a silent retreat with catered vegan breakfast and hot rock massage lunch.

Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

Late-Stage Compliance (Why Do We Obey in Advance?) (S2. Chapter 20)29 Dec 202500:09:26

What rules are you still following that no one is enforcing anymore?
Chapter 20 of the Tao of Lloyd takes on burnout culture: late-stage compliance, people-pleasing, and self-policing disguised as “professionalism.”
Then a calm, deadpan guided meditation on opting out quietly, imperfectly, and without needing to prove anything today.

 With Lloyd Dobler.

Late Stage Capitalism (Who’s Stealing Your Time?) (S2. Chapter 19)25 Dec 202500:15:24

What happens when we mistake overworked and exhausted for virtue?
Lloyd Dobler turns to the Tao Te Ching to examine why Americans are so tired, so rushed, and so starved for time with the people they love. Blending spiritual commentary, political critique, and dry Gen X humor, Lloyd asks what it would mean to design a life—and a society—where human beings matter more than productivity metrics. This is not a productivity hack. It’s a meditation on refusal, presence, and reclaiming time.

Let Go of 2025 (a Lloyd Dobler sorta guided meditation)22 Dec 202500:08:30

Ready to let go of 2025?

This special episode of The Tao of Lloyd is a short, unorthodox guided meditation for anyone crossing the finish line of the year feeling braced, exhausted, and still carrying more than they meant to.

Lloyd Dobler (yes, that Lloyd) all grown up—leads a calm, dry, anti-guru meditation built around four simple questions: what you’re still bracing for, what you’re carrying that you don’t need, what you can set down without forgetting, and what presence feels like without armor.

Expect monkey mind interruptions, dark humor, and permission to meditate badly. No incense. No enlightenment. Just a pause button before the year turns.

Less than 10 minutes.
Headphones optional.
Armor not required.

We Got the Guillotine, You Better Run (S2. Chapter 18)18 Dec 202500:12:11

Why do powerful men keep fantasizing about public punishment?

Lloyd Dobler riffs on “The Guillotine” by The Coup, written by Boots Riley, using the song’s provocation to examine how structural violence gets normalized under capitalism.

In Chapter 18 of the Tao Te Ching, Lao-tzu suggests that when a society forgets the Great Tao, fear hardens into spectacle—and power starts mistaking cruelty for strength.

This episode was sparked by comments from Joe Lonsdale, co-founder of Palantir, who recently fantasized publicly about executions—revealing how surveillance culture, masculinity, and insecurity collapse into performance.

This isn’t about public safety. It’s about dominance. About billionaires debating punishment while profiting from systems that make fear scalable.

A guided meditation for men unlearning escalation.
A Taoist reminder that real power doesn’t need an audience.

On Refusing Orders (S2. Chapter 17)15 Dec 202500:16:08

What does it actually mean to refuse an unlawful order—when no one’s watching, and no one’s officially in charge?

In Chapter 17 of The Tao of Lloyd, Lloyd Dobler moves from a humiliating road-rage incident in a Whole Foods parking lot to a chilling national moment: U.S. lawmakers reminding the military of a long-settled legal truth—that service members are required to refuse unlawful orders, only to be accused of sedition punishable by death.

Drawing on Chapter 17 of the Tao Te Ching, Lloyd explores why the best leadership is almost invisible, why despised authority governs through exhaustion, and how real power operates long before it announces itself. Along the way, he turns the mirror inward, asking why it’s easier to demand moral courage from strangers than to disobey the quieter, illegal orders issued by our own fear, habit, and need to belong.

This episode blends Taoist philosophy, contemporary politics, and self-implicating humor to argue that refusal doesn’t start with soldiers or systems—it starts at the moment you notice who’s actually driving your reactions.

A meditation on leadership without spectacle, obedience without thought, and the unnerving freedom of realizing the steering wheel was never decorative.

About My Road Rage (S2. Chapter 16)11 Dec 202500:16:11

What happens when road rage turns into a near-death experience?

In Chapter 16 of The Tao of Lloyd, Lloyd Dobler sets out to explore stillness, emptiness, and non-reactivity, and then promptly fails in spectacular fashion at a red light. A reckless moment of political rage escalates into a real-world confrontation that nearly ends very badly, forcing Lloyd to reckon with the gap between spiritual ideals and how the nervous system actually behaves under threat.

Grounded in Chapter 16 of the Tao Te Ching, this episode becomes a darkly funny, uncomfortably honest meditation on anger, ego, and the illusion of moral superiority. Lloyd reflects on what “emptying the mind” looks like when fear takes the wheel, how rage disguises itself as righteousness, and why enlightenment often arrives not as wisdom—but as survival.

Part confession, part political satire, part sorta-guided meditation, this chapter asks a harder question than how to stay calm: what do you do when you realize you’re the one escalating?

A meditation on stillness, humility, and choosing—just once—not to obey the worst impulse in the room.

Lloyd aims the Tao Te Ching at Trumplandia like a spiritual weather report for a country vibrating itself into madness. Using Chapter 15, he explores three versions of where he comes from: Seattle, the Big Bang, and a VHS copy of Say Anything that slipped into the multiverse.

This is a guided meditation for people who metabolize news like caffeine, a political satire for listeners with mud in their water, and a Taoist riff on clarity in collapsing times.

The Future Keeps Ghosting Us (S2. Chapter 14)05 Dec 202500:14:04

What if the future keeps ghosting you because it doesn’t want to be predicted?

In this chapter of The Tao of Lloyd, Lloyd wanders into prediction culture, political chaos, and AI riddles, using the Tao’s reminder that you can’t know the future—but you can inhabit the present. It’s a meditation on uncertainty, refusal, and staying human while the algorithms keep guessing.

The Slow-Drip of Fascism (S2. Chapter 13)02 Dec 202500:11:29

Lloyd Dobler uses the Tao Te Ching to make sense of a tragedy in Washington DC: a National Guard member killed, another critically wounded, and a political system that turned grief into ammunition before the scene was even cleared.

Lloyd traces the scapegoating of Afghan refugees, Trump’s threat to “permanently pause migration from all Third World countries,” and the creeping authoritarianism that arrives not with a bang but a slow-drip leak no one bothers to patch.

What follows is a guided meditation through the Tao Te Ching Chapter 13— a chapter that warns that success is as dangerous as failure and hope as hollow as fear. Lloyd isn’t a guru; he’s stumbling through the same chaos as the listener. But together, they try to find balance, humor, perspective, and a sliver of humanity in a collapsing empire’s ER.

A dark, comedic, meditative reflection on fear, compassion, and what it means to see the world (and each other) as ourselves.

Pluribus. We Is Us (S2. Chapter 11)25 Nov 202500:11:02

Lloyd Dobler returns with a guided meditation for an America that feels like it’s been written by Vince Gilligan on a bender with a quantum physicist.

This chapter looks at the Tao Te Ching’s reminder that “the many” and “the one” are illusions we cling to when we’re scared, and how the Apple TV+ series Pluribus accidentally became a funhouse-mirror metaphor for our moment. Alternate selves, divided societies, infinite timelines, and the spiritual plot twist that We Is Us whether we like it or not.

If Pluribus cracks open the multiverse, Chapter 11 asks:
What happens when the inner multiverse cracks back?

Part meditation, part cultural autopsy, part deadpan Gen-X existentialism, this is your reminder that the universe might be infinite, but your breath is always now.
