| Fantastic Four: The Enemy of the Good | 24 Jun 2026 | 00:47:49 | |
The Superhero Show #627Fantastic Four: The Enemy of the GoodThe Superhero Show — The Enemy of the Good This week, The Superhero Show changes up its usual format for a special deep-dive episode dedicated entirely to Ryan North’s Fantastic Four #7, the landmark 700th issue of Fantastic Four. Rather than splitting time between the 1994 animated series and the modern comic, the hosts devote the entire episode to discussing “The Enemy of the Good,” a double-sized anniversary issue that delivers mystery, time travel, tragedy, and one of the best Doctor Doom stories in recent memory. As the Fantastic Four retreat to Aunt Petunia’s house to escape the constant attention of Maria Hill and S.H.I.E.L.D., they find themselves facing a strange phenomenon that causes them to gradually lose language itself. What begins as a haunting ghost story evolves into an epic examination of Doctor Doom, fate, and the impossible burden of trying to save the future. The hosts break down the issue’s ambitious plot, Ryan North’s storytelling strengths, and why this milestone issue feels worthy of celebrating 700 issues of Marvel’s first family. The Enemy of the Good: A House Full of Missing WordsThe episode begins with a discussion of the issue’s central mystery. While staying at Aunt Petunia’s house, the Fantastic Four begin experiencing a bizarre condition where letters of the alphabet start disappearing from their minds. As more letters vanish, communication becomes increasingly difficult and reality itself begins to feel unstable. The hosts discuss how effectively Ryan North builds tension through what initially feels like a classic haunted-house story. The mystery unfolds slowly, creating an atmosphere that is equal parts unsettling and fascinating as the team struggles to understand what is happening before they lose the ability to explain it altogether. They praise the issue for taking an absurd comic-book concept and making it feel genuinely threatening. The Enemy of the Good: The Return of Doctor DoomAs the mystery deepens, the story reveals its true architect: Doctor Doom. The hosts spend a significant portion of the episode discussing how Ryan North writes Doom and why this version of the character has resonated so strongly with readers. Doom's motivation stems from his anger toward Reed Richards after the events that displaced Valeria, the Baxter Building, and its occupants into the future. Convinced that Reed's actions created a disaster that should have been avoidable, Doom becomes obsessed with proving that he is smarter, more capable, and better suited to solve the crisis than Reed ever was. The hosts highlight how perfectly this motivation captures Doom's defining flaw: his inability to accept that there might be problems even he cannot solve. The Enemy of the Good: A Battle Against FateOne of the most compelling parts of the issue centers on Doom repeatedly traveling through time in an attempt to prevent the catastrophic future event connected to Annihilus. The hosts discuss how Doom continuously alters his approach, going further and further back in time, trying countless solutions in an effort to prove that his intellect can overcome any obstacle. Every attempt fails. What Doom eventually discovers is that the event has become a Nexus point—a moment so essential that it will occur regardless of intervention. The conversation explores how powerful this realization is for a character whose entire identity revolves around being the smartest person in the room. For perhaps one of the few times in his life, Doom is forced to confront a problem that cannot be solved through intelligence, preparation, or sheer force of will. The Enemy of the Good: Understanding DoomThe hosts repeatedly return to the issue's portrayal of Doctor Doom, arguing that it may be one of the strongest character studies of the villain in years. They discuss how Ryan North balances Doom's arrogance, brilliance, ego, insecurity, and genuine care for Valeria. Rather than presenting Doom as simply evil, the issue shows him as a deeply flawed man whose greatest weakness is his inability to accept limitations. What makes the story especially effective is that Doom is often correct. He is brilliant. He is capable. He does care. Yet those truths make his failures hurt even more. The hosts praise North for creating a story where the emotional stakes feel just as important as the science-fiction concepts. The Enemy of the Good: Doom Stops DoomThe issue reaches its climax when Doom arrives at an unexpected conclusion. If no version of himself can successfully alter the future event, then the only solution is to prevent himself from attempting the mission in the first place. The hosts discuss the brilliant irony of Doom realizing that the greatest threat to the timeline is not Reed Richards—but Doom himself. By traveling back and subtly weakening his own forces, he creates the circumstances that allow Sue Storm and the Fantastic Four to stop him before his obsession spirals any further. It is a conclusion that feels both tragic and perfectly fitting for the character. Celebrating 700 Issues of Fantastic FourThe final segment focuses on the significance of this issue as the 700th installment of Fantastic Four. The hosts reflect on what it means for Marvel's first family to reach such a milestone and discuss why The Enemy of the Good feels like an appropriate celebration of everything the franchise represents. The issue combines family, science fiction, emotional storytelling, cosmic stakes, and character-driven drama in a way that encapsulates the very best of Fantastic Four comics. They also spend some time marveling at the fact that there have been 700 issues of Fantastic Four and what that says about the lasting impact of these characters. Final Thoughts — The Enemy of the GoodBy the end of The Enemy of the Good, The Superhero Show finds itself discussing not only one of the strongest issues of Ryan North's run, but potentially one of the strongest Doctor Doom stories in years. Through its blend of mystery, time travel, emotional stakes, and philosophical questions about fate, the issue delivers a memorable anniversary celebration worthy of the Fantastic Four legacy. Whether it's the haunting disappearance of language, the heartbreaking journey of Doctor Doom, or the reminder of why Marvel's first family has endured for 700 issues, The Enemy of the Good gives the hosts plenty to celebrate—and plenty to talk about. | Fantastic Four: Super Skrull | 17 Jun 2026 | 00:35:30
The Superhero Show #626Fantastic Four: Super SkrullThe Superhero Show — Super Skrull This week, The Superhero Show continues its coverage of the 1994 Fantastic Four animated series with Episode 1.07, “Super Skrull.” After the events of the previous Skrull storyline, the hosts dive into the arrival of one of the Fantastic Four’s most iconic comic book enemies: Super Skrull. The episode brings back the shape-shifting alien threat with an upgraded weapon—a warrior capable of wielding all four of the Fantastic Four’s powers at once. The hosts discuss the episode's plot, its connection to the missing Skrull episode that disappeared from modern streaming services, and whether Super Skrull lives up to his reputation as one of Marvel’s most dangerous villains. As always, the conversation balances genuine comic book analysis with plenty of laughs at the wonderfully strange storytelling choices that only a 1990s superhero cartoon could deliver. Super Skrull: The Recap Disney+ Doesn't Want You to SeeThe hosts begin by discussing one of the episode’s most unusual features: its lengthy recap of the previous Skrull storyline. Because the earlier Skrull episode has largely been absent from Disney+, modern viewers are put in the strange position of watching a recap for an episode they may never have actually seen. The hosts talk about how bizarre this experience is and how the recap almost feels like a hidden glimpse into a lost chapter of the series. This leads to a broader discussion about continuity in older cartoons and how streaming-era audiences sometimes encounter these shows very differently than their original viewers did. Super Skrull: All Four Powers in One VillainThe centerpiece of the episode is, of course, the introduction of Super Skrull himself. The hosts break down how the character is adapted from the comics and why the basic concept remains so effective. By combining the abilities of Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing into a single opponent, the episode instantly creates a threat that feels uniquely suited to challenge the entire team. They discuss how each power is utilized throughout the episode, which abilities translate best to animation, and whether the cartoon fully takes advantage of the character’s incredible potential. The consensus? Even when the animation struggles to keep up with the concept, Super Skrull remains a fantastic comic-book idea. Super Skrull: Powered by the Skrull HomeworldOne of the more memorable aspects of the episode is the explanation for where Super Skrull's abilities come from. The hosts discuss the decision to have his powers amplified and maintained through energy transmitted from the Skrull homeworld. This creates a built-in weakness for the character while also reinforcing the larger scale of the Skrull Empire's involvement in the conflict. Naturally, the hosts have some fun poking at the comic-book logic involved, but they also acknowledge that it gives the story a clear objective beyond simply punching the villain until he stops moving. Super Skrull: Outsmarting the Ultimate EnemyAs the episode builds toward its conclusion, the Fantastic Four realize they cannot simply overpower an opponent who possesses all of their abilities. The hosts discuss how the team ultimately defeats Super Skrull through strategy and teamwork rather than brute force. This becomes one of the stronger elements of the episode, emphasizing the idea that what makes the Fantastic Four special is not their powers individually but how they work together as a family. The discussion also touches on whether the resolution feels earned and how it compares to other major villain defeats throughout the first season. Comic Book Weirdness at Its FinestThroughout the episode, the hosts repeatedly come back to what makes Super Skrull such an enjoyable piece of Marvel history. The character embodies everything great about Silver Age comic books: a simple premise, outrageous powers, and enough comic-book logic to create endless entertaining situations. Even when the episode struggles with pacing or storytelling, the sheer fun of watching the Fantastic Four face a villain who can do everything they can do keeps the hosts engaged. Final Thoughts — Super SkrullBy the end of Super Skrull, The Superhero Show finds itself discussing one of the strongest villain concepts the 1994 Fantastic Four series has introduced so far. Between the strange recap of a missing episode, the arrival of one of Marvel’s most recognizable alien antagonists, and the creative challenge of facing a foe with all four Fantastic Four powers, the episode delivers exactly the kind of comic-book absurdity that makes this series so entertaining to revisit. Whether you're a longtime fan of the character or meeting him for the first time, Super Skrull proves why the Fantastic Four's rogues gallery remains one of Marvel's most imaginative. | Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: The Final Three Episodes - Departure, Duel, & Wild Fire! | 25 Mar 2026 | 01:04:00
The Superhero Show #617Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: The Final Three Episodes - Departure, Duel, & Wild Fire! This episode of The Superhero Show dives deep into the final stretch of the cult-favorite 90s animated series Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, breaking down Episodes 1.11, 1.12, and 1.13 — “Departure,” “Duel,” and “Wild Fire.” The hosts explore how these episodes bring together the show’s core themes of environmentalism, trust, and high-octane action, while also delivering some of the most character-driven storytelling of the series’ run. Departure — Saying Goodbye… or NotIn “Departure,” the podcast unpacks a turning point for Hannah Dundee and her place in the City in the Sea. The episode centers around Hannah’s controversial plan to introduce flying dinosaurs (pteranodons) as a warning system against dangerous sea creatures—an idea that sparks conflict with both Jack and the ever-opposing Scharnhorst. The hosts highlight how things escalate when Hannah considers leaving altogether, frustrated by the resistance to her ideas. Meanwhile, danger ramps up as Jack faces off against a rogue war machine and a new antagonist, Lars Striker. As the story unfolds, Hannah ultimately proves the value of her plan when the creatures help defend the city, leading to her decision to stay. The podcast crew praises “Departure” for blending emotional stakes with action, noting how it reinforces the evolving partnership between Jack and Hannah while showcasing the show’s environmental themes. Duel — Old Friends, New EnemiesThe conversation shifts into “Duel,” where the hosts dig into one of the series’ most personal conflicts. Jack reunites with his old friend Sean Russel, a fellow mechanic whose charm quickly gives way to arrogance and betrayal. As discussed on the podcast, things spiral when Sean steals critical technology and disrupts the delicate balance of the ecosystem—causing dinosaurs to behave erratically. The hosts emphasize how this episode leans into rivalry, with Jack forced into a literal and emotional showdown against someone who mirrors his own skills but lacks his moral compass. The climactic race between Jack and Sean becomes a standout moment, symbolizing not just competition, but a clash of values. The podcast frames “Duel” as a classic “hero vs. dark reflection” story, elevated by strong character writing. Wild Fire — A Blazing FinaleClosing out the discussion is “Wild Fire,” the explosive finale of the series. The hosts break down how a reckless act—using stolen dynamite to scare dinosaurs—sparks a massive jungle fire that quickly spirals out of control. What follows is a high-stakes race against time, as Jack, Hannah, and even their enemies are forced to confront the devastating consequences of environmental negligence. The fire threatens not only the ecosystem but also Scharnhorst’s operations, adding layers of tension and irony. The podcast highlights the episode’s thrilling action set pieces—dangerous transport missions, collapsing terrain, and a desperate attempt to stop the blaze by collapsing a canyon. They also note how “Wild Fire” serves as a perfect thematic capstone, reinforcing the show’s message about humanity’s responsibility to nature. Final Thoughts on Departure, Duel, and Wild FireIn wrapping up, The Superhero Show celebrates “Departure, Duel, and Wild Fire” as a powerful trio of episodes that encapsulate what made Cadillacs and Dinosaurs special. From emotional character decisions in Departure, to personal rivalry in Duel, to the large-scale environmental disaster of Wild Fire, these episodes deliver a satisfying and thought-provoking conclusion to the series. The hosts ultimately agree: this stretch proves the show was far ahead of its time—blending action, serialized storytelling, and ecological messaging in a way that still resonates today. The episode explores themes of deception, trust, and the challenges of being a superhero with a public image. It showcases Spider-Man's determination and quick thinking as he navigates the complex web of the Chameleon's deceit. | Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: Pursuit | 11 Mar 2026 | 00:38:07
The Superhero Show #615Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: PursuitThe Superhero Show: Pursuit — Jack Tenrec on the Run This week on The Superhero Show, the hosts dive into Cadillacs and Dinosaurs episode 1.10, “Pursuit.” In this intense chapter, Jack Tenrec finds himself framed for a crime he didn’t commit and forced into a desperate chase to clear his name. What begins as a confrontation with the notorious poacher Hammer quickly spirals into a story of corruption, betrayal, and a relentless pursuit across both the city and the wilderness. A Midnight Theft at the Docks“Pursuit” kicks off late at night at the docks of the City in the Sea. Hammer Terhune attempts to steal a powerful piece of heavy equipment—a massive pile driver that could be turned into a dangerous poaching weapon. Jack arrives just in time to confront him, and the two rivals immediately clash in a brutal fight among the crates and machinery. However, the confrontation takes a turn when the alarm is triggered and Hammer escapes the scene. Instead of catching the criminal, Jack is suddenly placed under arrest by Captain Noc, who accuses him of being responsible for the theft. The hosts highlight how this moment flips the usual dynamic of the show: Jack isn’t chasing the villain—he’s suddenly the one being hunted. Jack on TrialThe next morning, Jack faces the city council in court. Captain Noc’s testimony paints Jack as an accomplice in the pile driver theft, and the evidence seems stacked against him. Despite his protests, Jack is found guilty and sentenced to punishment. But Jack refuses to sit still while Hammer turns the stolen equipment into a weapon. During his transfer to a remote penal colony, Jack makes a daring escape. Now officially a fugitive, he sets out to track down Hammer himself and stop whatever plan the poachers are preparing. Enter the Bounty HunterWith Jack on the run, Wilhelmina Scharnhorst escalates the situation by hiring a relentless bounty hunter named Brink. Brink is tasked with capturing Jack and bringing him back to face justice. The hosts discuss how Brink becomes one of the episode’s most interesting additions. Unlike many characters in the series, he isn’t driven by greed or ideology—he’s simply doing his job. This creates a tense cat-and-mouse dynamic as Brink repeatedly catches up to Jack during the pursuit, forcing Jack to explain that Hammer is the real criminal. Meanwhile, Hannah Dundee begins her own investigation. Suspicious of Captain Noc’s story, she searches for evidence that could expose the real culprit and prove Jack’s innocence. Poachers, Slithers, and the Final ShowdownJack’s pursuit eventually leads him deep into the wilderness, where he discovers the poachers’ hidden base. The stolen pile driver is already being used to power dangerous operations. At the same time, Brink finally catches up to Jack, leading to another confrontation between the fugitive mechanic and the determined bounty hunter. However, when Jack reveals the truth about Hammer’s plan, Brink begins to question the orders he was given. Soon the situation escalates into chaos as poachers attempt to eliminate both men by dropping them into pits filled with deadly slithers. Jack manages to turn the tables, rescuing Brink and proving that Hammer is the true villain. The episode culminates with Jack destroying the poachers’ base and stopping their operation. With the evidence finally clear, Brink arrests Hammer and the truth comes to light. Final Thoughts on PursuitBy the end of “Pursuit,” Jack’s name is cleared and the real criminals are brought to justice. The hosts reflect on how this episode stands out because it flips the usual formula of the series. Instead of protecting the city from outside threats, Jack must fight the system itself while racing to expose corruption. With courtroom drama, bounty hunters, jungle danger, and a relentless chase from start to finish, Pursuit delivers one of the most gripping adventures of the season—and The Superhero Show is there to break down every twist of the chase Looking for More?Want to learn more about Cadillacs and Dinosaurs? | Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: Remembrance | 25 Feb 2026 | 00:43:41
The Superhero Show #614Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: RemembranceThe Superhero Show: Remembrance — Ghosts of the Past Resurface This week on The Superhero Show, the hosts return to the world of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs to unpack episode 1.09, “Remembrance.” In this emotionally charged chapter, the past refuses to stay buried as long-lost technology, painful memories, and old-world ambitions collide. Unlike the jungle-heavy action of previous episodes, Remembrance shifts focus inward—forcing Jack Tenrec and the residents of Sea City to confront history itself. Echoes of the Old WorldRemembrance begins with the discovery of preserved relics from the pre-apocalypse era—artifacts that stir curiosity and ambition in equal measure. When evidence surfaces suggesting the existence of advanced cryogenic technology, hope spreads through the city. Could survivors from the old world still be alive? The hosts highlight how the episode carefully builds intrigue. Instead of immediate action, the tension grows through possibility. The idea that someone from the ancient past might awaken sparks excitement—but also unease. After all, the old world is the one that collapsed. Awakening the PastWhen a preserved figure from before the great cataclysm is revived, Remembrance pivots from mystery to moral conflict. The awakened survivor carries knowledge, but also outdated ideals rooted in control, hierarchy, and technological dominance. The hosts explore how this character represents more than a person—he embodies the mindset that led to Earth’s downfall. At first, the promise of forgotten science dazzles Sea City’s leadership. However, Jack remains skeptical. He understands that progress without balance can be catastrophic. As the revived figure begins pushing for the reactivation of dangerous systems and old infrastructure, the tension rises sharply. Clash of IdealsThe heart of Remembrance lies in its philosophical battle. The old world valued power and expansion. Jack values harmony and sustainability. The hosts dive into how the episode stages this conflict not just through dialogue, but through escalating stakes as ancient systems threaten to destabilize the fragile ecosystem Sea City depends on. As dormant machinery hums back to life, the danger becomes immediate. Technology once meant to protect civilization now risks destroying what little has been rebuilt. The episode’s action crescendos as Jack and Hannah scramble to shut down systems that should have remained relics. Letting Go to Move ForwardBy the conclusion of Remembrance, the message becomes clear: survival requires learning from the past, not resurrecting it wholesale. The revived figure’s tragic arc underscores that nostalgia can be dangerous when it ignores the consequences of history. The hosts reflect on how this episode deepens the show’s overarching themes. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs has always balanced spectacle with environmental caution, but Remembrance brings that philosophy to the forefront in a powerful way. Final Thoughts on RemembranceIn the end, Remembrance stands as one of the most thoughtful entries in the series. It trades pure action for emotional weight and philosophical stakes, reminding viewers that the greatest threats aren’t always dinosaurs or poachers—sometimes they’re the unresolved ghosts of yesterday. Tune in to The Superhero Show as the hosts break down every layered moment of Remembrance, exploring how the past shapes the future in a world still fighting to survive. | Invincible Season 2 vs The Marvels | 19 Nov 2023 | 00:43:12
The Taste Buds review the first two episodes of Invincible season 2, plus The Marvels, and so much more, on an all-new Superhero Show Show! The Superhero Show Show #507Invincible Season 2 vs The MarvelsOn an all-new, all-different episode of The Superhero Show Show, the Taste Buds are weighing in on Invincible season 2, while also talking themselves off of the "MCU is dead" ledge and convince each other that The Marvels isn't that bad. What's Going On Invincible Season 2?The first episode of the new season of Invincible had a lot of heavy lifting to do, with what's left of the Grayson family picking up the pieces after the betrayal of Nolan, aka Omni-Man. The second one doesn't forgo all of that, but it does remind viewers that the show can also be one of the funniest superhero satires of all time, relaying more on creativity and character than fourth wall breaking and snark. Is Invincible Season 2 As Good As Season 1?Hard to tell so far, but we're off to a good start. The Taste Buds help each other remember what happened in the first season (thanks "previously on's!"), pick out their favorite funny moments, and slobber over the subtle voice work being done here, particularly by Sandra Oh. What Else Do They Talk About Besides Invincible Season 2?Then, Ryan and Mike went to see The Marvels this week, and they might have been the only ones. They attempt to put the speed bumps the MCU is going through aside and discuss the quality of the film, which is nowhere near as bad as anyone has heard. However, it is probably time for the content-factory approach, with the fix-it-in-post attitude, to go by the wayside. It's probably also time to stop not putting Iman Vellani in everything they make. All of that, plus a quick Fear the Walking Dead update, and so much more! The Superhero Show Show #504Gen V Episode 6:What Are These Woods All About? The Taste Buds focus on this week's episode of Gen V, called Jumanji! The first couple of episodes of Gen V got pretty mixed reviews from this podcast. Has the show gotten better over the last couple of months? Let's find out! Why Is This Episode of Gen V Called Jumanji?Probably because it hits the nostalgia button of two different generations. This episode of Gen V, called Jumanji, promises to answer a lot of questions the first five episodes have asked. Join Taste Buds Ryan and Mackenna as they review Jumanji, and discuss whether or not the show has handled its mystery reveals well. Also, is it too soon to even reveal these mysteries? Plus, is there enough left to keep the show going after all of these reveals. The Superhero Show Show #503Doom Patrol Season 4 Part 2Did DP Lose a Step During Its Break? It's finally time for Doom Patrol Season 4 Part 2! It's been almost a year since the fourth season took a little break, and the Taste Buds are trying to remember what happened last time they watched. What happened in Doom Patrol Season 4 Part 2?The gang is still trapped in Orqwith, which means that Vic's best friend is still stuck as a stranger in a strange land. Will they be able to get back home? And if they do, will they be able to get back to a parade? Will Doom Patrol be able to find that focus that so many other shows lose when they hit the home stretch? The Taste Buds answer all of these questions, and more. Luckily, the Taste Buds have some help this week, as Friend of the Show and Doom Patrol superfan Paul from the Waiting for Doom podcast is here to help the gang out with the trivia and analysis. The Superhero Show Show #502Loki Season 2Can Loki Season 2 Save Phase Five? The Taste Buds watch the first two episodes of Loki season 2, and Kraven is on Spider-Man: The Animated Series, on an all-new Superhero Show Show! It's finally time for Loki Season 2!!! It's time for the return of Tom Hiddleston! It's time for the return of what seems to be the spine of the current Marvel storyline! And it seems like it should be time to get some clues as to what Marvel is going to do about their Jonathan Majors problem! What happens in the first two episodes of Loki season two?Ummm....that's not the easiest question ever asked. Loki season 2 picks up right after the first season left off. Loki is still in the TVA, and he is just as confused as we are. Nobody, including Mobius and B-15, recognize Loki, which means he must be in a different multiverse. BECAUSE OF COURSE HE IS. Eventually, Loki and Mobius get on the same page, and realize that the only person that can help them is Ouroboros, or OB, played by recent Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan! Now it's time for a dangerous mission, and the MCU is back, baby! What else do you guys talk about besides the Loki season 2 premiere? The Shushies continue, and it's time to hand out the award for Best Villain of the year! It's the Gen V series premiere, plus Scorpion on SM-TAS, and so much more, on an all-new Superhero Show Show! The Superhero Show Show #501Gen V Series Premiere:Does the World Need Another Boys Show? The Gen V series premiere is here! The Boys, Amazon Prime's smash critical and commercial hit, is finally getting a spin-off show! The Gen V series premiere introduces us to God U, the number one superhero academy in the whole Boys universe. Here, young students can become television stars, detectives, or maybe even have a shot at one day joining the Seven. What happens in the Gen V series premiere? In the first two episodes, which are covered on this podcast, we meet Marie, who killed her family when puberty brought her superpowers; Cricket, who is a YouTube star in addition to a supes wannabe; and Golden Boy, played by an actor with a very famous last name. The Boys has a history of splitting the pod down gender lines, with the two boys loving it, and the two girls finding it offensive. Will Gen V do the same? Or will the girls find it slightly more appealing? Created by the creators of The Boys, but with some CW writers thrown in for good measure, maybe Gen V has more of a balance that everyone can enjoy? Maybe? What else do you guys talk about besides the Gen V series premiere?Next, it's time for Shushie season. The annual awards show for the best in comic book-based television begins here with the best ensemble cast of 2023. Last year's steamroller, Resident Alien, which won the Best Ensemble award, didn't air any new episodes this year, so it's anyone's game. In fact, none of the shows that we're nominated last year, including The Boys, Legends of Tomorrow, Loki, and Peacemaker, are elegible, so good luck to the five new nominees, all of which will be revealed in this episode! Only one other show came out this week, so it's another short Pull List, as Norman Reedus continues his ride through France on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Finally, the Taste Buds returns to S-TAZmania to watch another episode of Spider-Man: The Animated Series, titled The Sting of the Scorpion! J. Jonah Jameson has hired absolute loser Mac Gargan to follow Peter Parker, in order to figure out what his connection to Spider-Man is. But when Gargan fails too many times, Jameson and a scientist decide to just throw Mac into a Super Scorpion Soldier-maker, and turn him into a monster. | The One Piece Podcast: Best Live-Action Manga of All Time? | 24 Sep 2023 | 01:04:14
The One Piece Podcast:Best Live-Action Manga of All Time? It's finally time for the One Piece podcast! The Taste Buds have finally worked up the nerve, and found the time, to watch, Netflix's late summer hit, and are ready to tell the world what they think. Manga doesn't often make the jump to live action, therefore it doesn't often appear on the podcast. Does that mean the Taste Buds are going to be in the dark? Or is this going to open up a whole new world for them? What is One Piece? One Piece tells the story of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat pirates, as they search for the One Piece, a treasure that will make Luffy the King of the Pirates. Once King, Luffy will...wear a crown or something. I don't know. But here's what we do know: one of the crew members is played by Emily Rudd, and she's not related to Paul. Also, one of the crew members is played by Sonny Chiba's son, and he is related to Sonny Chiba. Will There Be a Second One Piece Podcast?Unfortunately, there's still a writer's strike going on, so not much movement has been made on that front. But we have heard that the scripts are ready to go into production as soon as the actors and writers get back to work! Did They Talk About Anything Other Than One Piece? Then, the Taste Buds move on to the Pull List, where they talk about every other comic book show that came out this week. Light week this week, as the sole member of the pull list is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Is The Walking Dead back? We'll see! What is the One Piece of Spider-Man?Finally, they head to S-TASmania to watch the fourth episode of Spider-Man: The Animated Series! Mrs. Hardy has cut off the research money to a local scientist. Unfortunately, that scientist is named Otto Octavius, aka Doctor Octopus! When he kidnaps Mrs. Hardy's daughter Felicia, will Peter Parker be able to get his sweater with turquoise stripes off fast enough in order to change into Spider-Man and stop him? Only the Taste Buds know the answer to that. All of that, and more, on an all-new episode of The Superhero Show Show! TV EPISODES AND FILMS DISCUSSED:ONE PIECEWatch One Piece on Netflix here! It's the Harley Quinn season 4 finale, plus Doc Ock on SM-TAS, and so much more, on an all-new Superhero Show Show! The Superhero Show Show #498Harley Quinn Season 4 Finale: The End of Harley Quinn? It's time for the Harley Quinn season 4 finale! On an all-new, all-different episode of The Superhero Show Show, Cassie and Katelynn are taking center stage, and are sharing the spotlight with none other than the Harley Quinn season 4 finale! We've come a long way this season: joining the Batfamily, killing a member of the Batfamily, dealing with clones, dealing with Luthor and, most importantly, dealing with Clayface dealing with fame. But now it's time to wrap it all up for the year. Has Harley Quinn Season 5 Been Announced Yet?It hasn't, and with the seemingly random way Warner Bros. handles everything, we probably shouldn't count on anything. But there are still so many questions to answer for this season. Will Ivy be able to save the planet, while still becoming the SHE.E.O. she has always dreamed of becoming? Will Lex finally give her the respect she deserves? Where is Harley in the Season Finale? And what about Harley? Her new best friend Barbara has been Killing Jokered! Will Barbara survive? And if she does, will she be confined to a wheelchair, only to become Oracle? Or will it be something more perverted than that, because this cartoon is rated R, and can say the F-word? Will she become...oh, I don't know...Whoracle? Cassie and Katelynn have all of the answers for you tonight! | Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2 | 04 Feb 2026 | 00:33:09
The Superhero Show #613Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2 The Superhero Show Show: The Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2 Bracket Reaches Its Final Showdown Join the hosts as The Superhero Show returns with Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2, the thrilling conclusion to their musical detour from Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. After setting the stage in part one, this episode is where the bracket tightens, the debates get sharper, and the final decision is made. With passions running high and strong opinions on the line, the hosts work their way toward crowning the album that ultimately takes the title—officially locking in the winner as the show’s choice heading into 2026. Narrowing the Field: Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2 Gets CompetitiveIn Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2, the bracket resumes with fewer contenders and much higher stakes. Albums that survived the first round now face tougher matchups, forcing the hosts to compare not just quality, but impact, longevity, and cultural relevance. Each discussion digs deeper into sound, experimentation, and how these records defined the year. As the bracket progresses, earlier favorites get tested, surprise underdogs gain momentum, and consensus becomes harder to reach. The episode captures that turning point where casual debate turns into full-on advocacy. Critics vs. Personal Picks: The Final BattlesThis episode also highlights the collision between critically acclaimed albums and the hosts’ personal favorites. Records like Lux by Rosalía, Debí Tirar Más Fotos by Bad Bunny, Mayhem by Lady Gaga, Let God Sort Em Out by Clipse, Choke Enough by OKLOU, Getting Killed by Geese, Viagra Boys by Viagra Boys, and Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party by Hayley Williams all come back into focus as the hosts reassess which albums truly deserve to advance. Because the field is smaller, every elimination feels bigger. The hosts revisit earlier arguments, challenge their own assumptions, and wrestle with whether innovation, emotional connection, or sheer replay value should matter most. The Final Vote: Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2 Crowns a WinnerAs Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2 reaches its climax, the hosts make their final votes. The bracket closes, the debates settle, and one album rises above the rest. Whether the winner is a critical darling, a personal favorite, or an unexpected champion, the decision feels earned after two episodes of passionate discussion. Final Thoughts: Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2 Delivers the VerdictIn the end, Best Album of 2025 Pt. 2 delivers exactly what it promises: a decisive, spirited conclusion to The Superhero Show’s biggest musical experiment yet. By borrowing the “Best Of” format from Movie of the Year and applying it to music, the hosts prove they can argue albums with the same intensity they bring to TV and film. With a winner officially crowned and carried into 2026, this episode stands as a loud, fun, and deeply opinionated celebration of a standout year in music. | My Adventures With Superman Finale: Who is Lois Lane's Father? | 10 Sep 2023 | 01:18:52
The Superhero Show Show #497Who is Lois Lane's Father on the My Adventures With Superman Finale? On an all-new, all-different episode of The Superhero Show Show, Mike and Katelynn are on the road, so it's a classic Cassie and Ryan messaround. And they have no choice but to send Superman off in style with their favorite kind of Thanksgiving episodes, one that comes out in September! It's time for dinner at the Kent house, and everyone is coming over, including Papa Lane. This is going to be a heck of a thanks-fest! Will the My Adventures With Superman Finale be the Last Episode of the Series? We don't know that yet, but we do know that some of those pesky Kryptonian robots are showing up to ruin the day in the finale. The Superhero Show Show #487Goodbye to Superman and Lois...For Now! The Taste Buds say goodbye to Superman and Lois for the year, and Gotham Knights forever! On this week's episode of the all-new, all-different episode of The Superhero Show Show, Cassie and the Boyz are discussing the third season finale of Superman and Lois. Katelynn is going to have a lot to answer for if Cassie and Ryan are disappointed by the show that she has been propping up for years. Is she nervous? She better be! Lex Luthor is on his typical, vengeance-fueled rampage, and Lois and Clark are in his sights (shocker). He has demanded Lois retire, and Lois Lane doesn't normally respond to demands like that. So he has figured out a way to make some sort of Bizarro-Superman to kill Superman, and Lois, and Smallville. REAL NICE, LEX. Will this episode feel different now that we know it's just the season finale, and not the series finale? Will this Lex Luthor measure up to the legacy of Luthor performances on the small and large screen? And will Bizarro feel like an actual threat to Superman, a character that has been so hard to threaten in the past. Tune in and find out! Plus, the Taste Buds are discussing all of the other comic book television from this week, including the series finale of Gotham Knights! They also discuss Archie's performance of John Proctor on the newest Riverdale, and talk about why the "Dead City" in The Walking Dead: Dead City is New York. And, of course, the biggest question of the week: did the second episode of Secret Invasion elevate the show above a high-budget Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D? And will they wonder - even for a second - how long it's been since I had to put all of the little periods in between the letters in the word "shield." While Americans overwhelmingly support the right of an individual to make their own decisions about abortion, unfortunately, that right is no longer protected everywhere in the U.S. The Supreme Court overturned Roe versus Wade on June 24th. Abortion is a basic healthcare need for the millions of people who can become pregnant. | #486: Secret Invasion is Here! | 25 Jun 2023 | 01:25:51
The Superhero Show Show #486Secret Invasion is Here! The Taste Buds are reviewing the first episode of Secret Invasion, plus X-Men: The Animated Series talk, and so much more! On an all-new episode of The Superhero Show Show, Cassie and the Boyz are watching the first episode of Secret Invasion! Secret Invasion is a major Marvel Comics storyline that has been adapted into various forms of media, including comic books, television, and film. It revolves around the infiltration of Earth by a shape-shifting alien race known as the Skrulls. The storyline was first introduced in the "Secret Invasion" comic book crossover event, which spanned from 2008 to 2009. The basic premise of Secret Invasion involves the Skrulls, a species with the ability to mimic the appearance and powers of any being, secretly replacing key individuals on Earth, including superheroes, political figures, and even close allies. This infiltration has been ongoing for years, and the Skrulls' ultimate goal is to conquer and take over the planet. The storyline brings a sense of paranoia and distrust as heroes and humans alike struggle to identify who is a Skrull and who they can trust. Characters that readers have known for years are revealed to be impostors, leading to shocking revelations and intense conflicts. The Skrulls' shape-shifting abilities make it difficult to ascertain their true identities, and the heroes must rely on their ingenuity and powers to uncover the invasion. The central conflict of Secret Invasion involves the superheroes of the Marvel Universe banding together to combat the Skrull threat. This includes major characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, and many others. The story explores themes of loyalty, identity, and the lengths individuals will go to protect their world. While the original comic book event had its own resolution, it's important to note that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is also adapting the Secret Invasion storyline. The upcoming Disney+ television series titled "Secret Invasion" will star Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, a Skrull character introduced in the film "Captain Marvel." The MCU adaptation is expected to explore the Skrull infiltration in a contemporary setting and may deviate from the comic book storyline in certain aspects. Overall, Secret Invasion is a thrilling and suspenseful storyline that showcases the Skrulls' ability to manipulate events on Earth and tests the heroes' resolve as they uncover the truth and fight against an enemy hidden among them. Plus, the Taste Buds are continuing their goodbyes to X-Men: The Animated Series by trying to figure out who was the greatest villain on the show. | #485: The American Born Chinese Finale | 18 Jun 2023 | 00:42:36
The Superhero Show Show #485The American Born Chinese Finale The Taste Buds are discussing the final episodes of American Born Chinese, plus a discussion of 2013's The Wolverine, on an all-new episode of The Superhero Show Show! It's an all-new, all-different episode of The Superhero Show Show, and it's a Katelynn-and-Ryan-messaround! The dynamic duo kick off the show by celebrating some huge news: we're getting one more season of a CW superhero show. From there, the Taste Buds review the final three episodes of American Born Chinese, and an overview of the entire season. They've been diligently slow playing the show, waiting to see how all of the disperate storylines connect! Will Ke Huy Quan's character meet Michelle Yeoh's, and have an EEAOO reunion? Will Jin get to fight like a heavenly superstar? Will Jin's parents patch things up and get to use magic? You probably already know the answers to these questions, so tune in and find out what Ryan and Katelynn thought of everything! Next, since it is a super light week of television, the Taste Buds introduce the newest segment, Katelynn's Blind Spots! Katelynn is a young lil movie baby, and has a lot to catch up on. And for whatever reason, she decided to start on her path with 2013's The Wolverine. Released in the midst of the second X-Men trilogy, The Wolverine is a mostly forgotten, fairly underrated superhero movie that plays almost as much of a drama/mystery as it does an action movie (especially if you ignore the very dumb final 20 minutes). Check-in to see if the Taste Buds recommend going back and checking this movie out! All of that, plus a very short discussion on the only other show this week, Fear the Walking Dead. It's far too much show!
