Key Points:
Current Issue: The episode centers on a controversial policy enforced by the College of Chiropractic of British Columbia, which restricts chiropractors' ability to perform routine and repeat X-rays. This policy, according to Bharon and Dr. Cockwill, undermines the clinical judgment and informed consent rights of practitioners and patients.

Dr. Cockwell's Experience: Dr. Cockwill shares his personal experience of being the first chiropractor targeted under the new policy, facing potential fines, license suspension, and disciplinary actions despite the absence of patient complaints.
Regulatory Challenges: The episode sheds light on how regulatory bodies have ignored substantial evidence against the policy and blocked efforts to challenge it through changes in bylaws and preventing elections.
Wider Implications: Bharon emphasizes the importance of this fight not just for British Columbia but for the global chiropractic community, as similar policies could spread to other regions, affecting the profession's ability to provide optimal patient care.
Call to Action: Listeners are encouraged to recognize the ongoing struggle and its significance. Bharon and Dr. Cockwill call for unity and support within the chiropractic community to ensure that practitioners' rights are upheld and patients receive the best care possible.

Barron Hoegh, the Executive Director of the Chiropractic Defense Council, is here to share insights and developments. Get ready for a substantial update on various fronts, from victories in Australia to movements in Canada and updates in the United States.
Australia Update: In Australia, significant progress has been made. The language concerning chiropractic adjustments for children under two has been removed from the chiropractic board's regulations. This positive change is the result of collaborative efforts from various groups, including the Chiropractic Defense Council, ACA, and others. While this is a victory, there are still issues to address, and ongoing efforts will ensure that policies align with evidence and factual information.
The focus is now on gathering data to support legal actions against documents that have had damaging repercussions. Chiropractors are urged to collaborate and share information to strengthen the case against unjust policies. The goal is to show the impact of decisions that lacked evidence and ensure that chiropractic remains a safe and effective option for children.
Canada Update – Bill 36: In Canada, particularly British Columbia, attention is drawn to Bill 36, which includes potentially harmful language affecting chiropractors' rights. The bill addresses amalgamation and introduces problematic elements that may set a precedent for other provinces. The Chiropractic Defense Council is actively monitoring the situation and preparing legal actions to defend chiropractors if such measures are enforced.
The importance of organization and collaboration within the chiropractic community is emphasized, as unified efforts can prevent adverse developments and protect the profession's rights. The need for chiropractors to join together, share information, and be proactive in defending their rights is highlighted.
United States Update: In the United States, efforts are ongoing to include chiropractic access language in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The conference committee is currently working on the NDAA, and the Chiropractic Defense Council is optimistic about the language being retained. Plans for the next year involve building relationships, especially with an upcoming election year, to continue advocating for chiropractic access within the military.
Animal Chiropractic Update: Animal chiropractic is a niche area gaining momentum. The Chiropractic Defense Council is actively engaging with organizations, schools, and states to streamline efforts and avoid duplication. Organizational conversations are crucial to create a clean foundation for future legislation. Chiropractors interested in animal chiropractic are encouraged to visit the dedicated landing page and stay tuned for detailed updates.
Closing Remarks: As Barron wraps up the episode, he stresses the importance of organization and collaboration within the chiropractic community globally. Positive movement with our military project and the N D A A also had great meetings on our animal chiropractic project that we're launching. And I want Canada to continue to understand what's going on. We have warriors there that I wanna make sure I give a sincere thanks to today and in Australia and New Zealand.
We are still pushing forward with operation free speech, more information for you as well. Tons going on around the world, and I wanna make sure that you stay plugged in and you know what's going on. So pay attention. All right, our warriors. God bless you this morning. It is August 7th already. August. I cannot believe we're on the second half of this year already.
But so much going on. Um, you know, kind of our intro today, I'm just blown away with the warriors that we have in our profession, um, in Canada. You guys know. That we've been really in, in the thicket of a couple different battles around Canada. Um, you know, and we're trying to really build our reserves.
We're in the middle of this, this battle. Um, and we wanna make sure that we have the resources to continue to push forward because we believe we have 'em on the ropes at this point. And so I've been working with a number of chiropractors that have been just, just really stepping up and I, and I'm so grateful we're having the same thing here in the US as we're working with this animal chiropractic issue, and I'm meeting these warriors that I didn't even know existed.
This is why I want you to watch our podcast, the State of Chiropractic. That podcast is really designed to highlight the warriors in our profession that most people don't even know exists. So please, Make sure you go to any of your streaming services that you look, listen to podcasts, and look up the state of chiropractic with Baren Hoag.
Um, I'm excited to have these conversations. I'm excited to share with the world, the people that we have out there doing the dirty work. Um, and, and it's, it's just amazing to me. So that's, that's kind of my intro today, man. I love it. Being in the trenches with you guys, cannot thank you enough. All the work we do is for you.
Um, none of this is self-righteous. I don't gain anything independently from this. Um, but other than my goal, which is to make chiropractic the number one healthcare choice in the world, but I'm just continually blown away with the power of the individuals that are stepping up and working with us to achieve this goal.
So it's just incredible. So I hope, I hope you're having an incredible Monday. I hope you had a great weekend. You're heading into this week, knowing that you're gonna just charge and, and move forward and take the message of chiropractic to the world or whatever specialty you are. Don't always want to forget about our allied health.
Folks we love and appreciate you guys too, and I hope that you move forward with this, um, with a, a sense of spirit, knowing you're not alone. Some support knowing you have big brother behind you to make sure that you're okay and your rights are protected. So just a great Monday morning to come together, figure out what's going on around this world, and then work together to make positive change.
Alright, well let's get into our actual updates. New Zealand. All right guys. I had a conversation with our attorney. We have about five cases that we're still kind of working on. They're starting to resolve. Um, we're happy with that. Um, you know, the, the biggest cases that we've been fighting are starting to fizzle away again.
We were right in the beginning that if we just pushed hard enough, That the government was going to back off, and that seems to be the case at this point. Um, so very, very pleased with the work of our legal, legal counsel there. Um, she's been amazing and, and you know, we're gonna have her on a podcast here soon where you guys can meet her and talk with her.
Uh, or excuse me, hear me talk with her. So that you guys get an understanding of the warrior that we have on our side working on these things. So operation free speech is still moving forward. Um, I, I'm grateful for those of you that are communicating with me, that are using those resources, really putting the message of chiropractic out there.
We haven't had really any issues so far in New Zealand. Um, knock on wood, so, Keep pushing forward. We're ready. We're prepared if the Ministry of Health says anything to you about what you're saying about chiropractic. So please keep pushing forward. We want to push that envelope and work together and support you in that process.
So if you have questions, continue to reach out, but we love and support you guys for what you're doing there in New Zealand. All right. Australia, um, had some great conversations with our legal team. Um, as you know, we have a couple different cases that we're still working on. Um, we had one individual where the.
Uh, ministry of Health was coming after, uh, chiropractors in, in, in retro, um, for not being vaccinated and practicing. I've been having some great calls with our legal team. We have a great strategy, very confident that we're gonna win this particular issue. Um, but we're happy to be on that, that that defense side.
We're happy to be pushing forward and making sure the rights of our chiropractors are protected. So that has been moving. It's gonna, that's gonna take a long time. I think we just got it kicked into 2024 at this point. Um, so, but we're working on that. I want you to know that, you know, your dollars are still going to things that matter to set precedent.
To protect the interest of chiropractors and allied health and your freedom to make choices when it comes to your health and the health of those around you. Um, with Operation Free Speech, we're excited again to continue to push that forward. We've had progress, um, with a couple of doctors that, uh, opera had reached out to that we're pushing back and we have the data and the research to support what they're doing.
We're in the process of that. We'll keep you updated as we're moving forward on that, but I need you guys to keep pressing forward. Uh, the last video I shared with you guys, a lot of information on, on how we want you to move forward, the resources we want you to use, why I am not spoonfeeding you exactly what to say, but I've given you the resources to do it.
I want you to keep. Pounding that information. Um, our goal is to get a little bit of attention to push back against opera a little bit as we move forward. So we need you guys to continue to do that. Share with your colleagues, let 'em know about these videos. We need to continue to grow our tribe. Um, and I know I hate this idea of, of, you know, giving you just a little bit of information, but not enough to let you know really what's going on.
But there's work being done right now. To push forward chiropractic. Right. We, you know, we're, we're talking to a lot of different people around Australia, a lot of different groups that have already existed. Um, and we know that there are still issues and, and restrictions and there are things that are limiting chiropractic and allied health from fully expressing the truth that they have.
I want you to know we're working on that. I'm not gonna be very vocal about that because I, I can't. I don't want to give away exactly what we're doing. Um, but we have plans here within the next year or two to really make a significant shift in the right direction. So all the things that we're doing with Operation Free Speech and defending those people with C O V I D, um, or the vaccine issues mandates, I, I want you to know, those are all pieces of trying to organize chiropractic in Australia.
Obviously the a c A does a great job with that. We're, we're. We're fans of what they're doing right now and the people that are in leadership there, um, you know, we believe they're, they're doing great work. We've been, uh, a couple projects we've been communicating back and forth on, so that stuff is amazing.
I'm talking about from the side of defense, right? The, the a c A is not an organization that's really equipped to take on the type of battles that the Chiropractic Defense Council is. And so there's a mutual respect between our organizations and the work that we're doing. Our goal of organizing and getting chiropractors and allied health all under one roof for the purpose of move, moving and mobilizing when there are windows and opportunities to take back some of our independence and our freedoms to be able to communicate the truth of what we do in our practices.
So I, we're trying to create value. We're trying to give you direction, definitely protection if you're connected with us. You don't have to fear legal expenses if, if you're being targeted or your rights are being violated. Um, but it's about organizing. So my push to get people connected, to get them contributing, to get them in our database is because there are things coming where we're gonna need that organization.
So I, again, I hate being vague. I know you're like, oh, he is just blowing smoke. I'm really not. Uh, hopefully you've learned by now I'm a pretty straight shooter, but, I want you guys to know why we're pushing so hard with these things and why I need you to continue to tell your colleagues and get them connected to our organization.
Amazing things are coming. Work is being done. That is setting foundations for our ability to continue to press forward and take our rightful place in healthcare. So, uh, this is the vision we have from the beginning with the C D C in worldwide. If we can achieve that goal of 10,000 chiropractors, that it, that enables us and empowers us to really.
Do some amazing things for this profession on your behalf. So, so please understand my heart in the midst of all of this stuff, but, uh, we love you. We appreciate y'all Australia. I'm gonna be back out there in October. Make sure that you register now for the eight summit or register for the a c a event in the Gold Coast.
They're kind of back to back, so I'd love to see it. Either one of those places I'm gonna be at both and, uh, I can't wait to just, uh, be in the same space, give you a big old hug and let you know that I love you and we're working together to accomplish something significant. We appreciate you, Australia.
God bless. All right, Canada, man. You guys have a sweet spot in my heart right now because of the work that we've been doing, um, we've been sharing with you the battle that we've had in Ontario, the money that we're spending there. I, I'm sharing. Pretty much every video that we're spending way more money than we're bringing in in Canada.
As things are starting to pick up in other parts of the world, we're really doing a concerted effort to fundraise, to get the resources to continue the battles in Canada. But I've been kind of robbing Peter to pay Paul with the battles in Canada. Um, we're not in dire straits. There's, there's not a horrible thing.
We're okay, but I, we need to start. Making plans and moving things in the right direction. We haven't quite had the growth of contributors that we would love in Canada yet. It's slowly going in the right direction, but not to the point where it sustains the work that we're doing there. So I've been working with a group of chiropractors and I'm just blown away.
Obviously, you know, identity, we like to keep private because of the work that we're doing. We want no targets on anybody. It's just incredible the resource and the network of chiropractors that are willing to step up. As we're doing this fundraising battle, we have to continue to build resources. The battles in British Columbia, the battles in Ontario and Quebec that we're expecting as well as in Alberta, like we, we need to continue to build these resources so that we can move at the moment's notice.
We have the most amazing attorneys in Canada, um, but they're not cheap. And, and we're happy to continue to spend the money that we've been spending. We've gotta start getting Canada to take care of Canada. Um, and I'm just blown away this week. Uh, you know, we've had a series of people doing that. We've been raising funds.
It's been incredible. So, if you hear this and you've been contacted and maybe you haven't given yet, or you haven't been contacted, we're, we're asking people to step up right now as we're entering back into these battles. Um, we're expecting, you know, to be in these for another few months. And we need to make sure that we have the resources on hand to keep our attorneys moving.
So we would love for you to, the best thing, I don't want any more of your money. What I want you doing is getting 5, 6, 7, 8 people as contributors. My goal is to get contributors on this thing, not the same people giving more. I'm blown away and blessed with those people that have stepped up and given above and beyond their 33.
But my goal is to get more people, right? We want 2,500. Chiropractors in Canada connected with us. That gives us the resources we need to fight these battles. But right now we're right at 500. So we, we've got a ways to go, um, to be able to do that. So if you have it in your means to be able to support us above and beyond your normal monthly, that'd be fantastic.
You can go to our website and do the custom donation. Um, if you rather you don't have the resources, please make some phone calls. Get your colleagues on board. Tell 'em they need to start contributing, be a part of the movement that we're doing because in Canada right now, we have an opportunity to continue to push and start holding some people accountable to their behavior.
I know there's been this veil of fear over a lot of chiropractors because of the rogue nature of a lot of the colleges. That's exactly what we're doing there. We're, we're trying to make sure that everyone knows that there's a check and balance. Now. They can't continue to just push. That's the root of the battle in Ontario and that's the root of the battle in British Columbia right now that we're spending the resources on.
So, so much going on. I need your help. Um, so Canada, thank you first of all to those that have given above and beyond. You have no idea how much I appreciate you. And the freedom that that gives me to, to really let loose our attorneys. But I'm, I'm, I'm asking for more help. I don't wanna keep doing this. I don't want to keep going to the, well, every time we have a battle going on and to sustain what we're doing.
Um, so just I, you know, help us how you can, if you can with resources, go to our site and do that. If you don't have the resources, then, you know, get five or six people to join. And be part of this, and that gets us to our goal as well. So, all right, candid, I love you. Um, lots, lots going on. I, you know, I'll give you more details as I have them and I can share them.
But, uh, right now, I just appreciate your love and your support. God bless you. All right. In the United States, man, uh, we had good news with our N D A A. As I already shared with you, our language is in the root of the bill that left the house. Um, it's in the Senate now, for those of you that don't understand how this process works, the Senate, you know, most bills, the, you know, the, the chamber that passes them first, it goes over to the other chamber in that form, and then that other chamber looks at it and makes any tweaks they need.
It's a bit different. With the N D A A, the Senate kind of starts from scratch. We're expecting that our language will be in the Senate language. It may be in the conference, um, between the House and the Senate that it gets put back in. Because what happens is the house passes theirs, the Senate passes theirs.
They go to conference committee, and then they hash out and they make one bill. It's, I. Literally the most ridiculous process, but it's how it works, especially with the N D A A and the size of that spending bill. Um, but we're still confident. Our team is still tracking it. Our language is still in there to force the d o d to have to face this chiropractic topic.
Be honest with Congress about where things sit right now, which sets us up wonderfully for our appropriations language to get funded, to be able to do our study. So, Takes forever. I know it. Trust me. Uh, we've been spending a lot of money to get where we're getting and moving at the pace of frozen syrup.
I know it, it's frustrating, but we have to do it because this mission is worth the fight. Um, we're gonna continue to do it until, uh, chiropractic is accessible and available to all of our men and women that serve. So we're committed to this process and we're gonna continue to move forward. Um, very excited about our animal chiropractic work.
We had our first fire team call this week, getting all the players together, having the conversations creating. Symmetry between all of these organizations moving in one direction. I know unheard of in chiropractic that you do that, but that's exactly what our organization is about, is bringing people together, being one profession and moving forward in one direction.
So, uh, I'm very excited about that. We're gonna be releasing more information. For those of you that are interested in animal chiropractic, I want you to go to our landing page, which is defend chiropractic.org/animal chiro. Forward slash Animal Chiro. So go to our normal website, just go up into the address bar and put forward slash animal chiro.
That's gonna send you, or you can go to our normal site, go on the sandwich menu, um, the dropdown menu, and you can click it there as well. That'll take you to the site as well. But if you're interested in following what we're doing with animal chiropractic, I want you to go there, fill out the form at the bottom, even if you're already a contributor, that what that does is it puts a tag.
On your file so that when we're putting out information specifically on that topic, that you'll be a part of that as we're sending emails and information out. So I want you to go there, click that, fill out that form so that we can put that tag in your account and you'll get that, update, those updates as they come out.
But we're gonna start pressing this very, very hard. That's gonna be a massive, massive project as we're working with state association state licensing boards, both on the chiro side and the vet side. But I'm really excited that we're working together, um, and we're moving in one direction. So it's been.
Awesome. So far, so, so much going on. Lots going on. All right, so my conclusion today is just grace. I, I just have such grace that, uh, God has put on us and the, the opportunity that we have to serve in the capacity that we do, and I get to do it with such amazing individuals. Uh, again, I'm humbled right now because of what I'm seeing through the animal chiropractic community.
My Canadians that have stepped up and really helped us to build resources. The vision we've had in one Cairo was working together with a bunch of people to accomplish significant things, and it's happening. I, I don't know if you've ever done that, whether it's your clinic or anything else you've been a part of, or maybe you've been a volunteer somewhere in your, in your town or your church and you had an idea and you watched that idea actually become reality.
And the reality is really even better than you had hoped. And that's what we're facing here with the Chiropractic Defense Council. The vision that Dr. Fran had. When he originally planted that seed into my heart, and then my ability over the last three years to build this tribe and this network and go out and do this work on behalf of this amazing profession.
I, there's just such, I just thank God for the grace that he puts on our lives. It's just incredible. But I don't want you to stop. I don't want you to stop believing. I know there's a lot of reasons to be pessimistic, to be dogmatic about what the future looks like because our profession tends to. Kind of spin in circles, but that's changing.
There are things changing and we're a part of that change. I'm honored with that, but we're not the only ones. There are so many other people that are tired of the way things have been happening, so I need you to believe and to step in, engage with us, share the word, help us to get to that 10,000 contributor base.
That really frees us to do all of the work that's coming to us. Right now. I'm turning things away, and so I'm so grateful for where we're at. I'm grateful for the grace that's been given, but I know there's more that we can do and you can help us. So we're not gonna stop. We're not, we're gonna keep going, man.
I got a lot of life left in me. I got a lot of piss and vinegar, and we're gonna go ahead and we're gonna keep knocking heads until we can get chiropractic to be the number one healthcare choice in the world. All right? We love you guys. That's enough for this week. Uh, make sure you go and check out our podcast.
