Suzie Kondi, Founder of Suzie Kondi14 Jan 202400:28:20

Suzie Kondi sailed into New York Harbor from Australia after 13 months at sea on a 46’ sailboat and has since recreated the environment of her upbringing through her eponymous brand. Having grown up in the folds of her mother’s fabric store, Suzie naturally funneled her personal heritage into the texture of her line by melding her worlds of beachy bohemia and downtown sophistication in a range of elegantly easy and incredibly versatile day-to-night pieces. She launched her first brand, Toast, in 2001 and was carried in over 150 retailers including Harvey Nichols, Harrods, and Saks. Her signature bohemian aesthetic helped define a moment in style and, with her namesake label, she returns to offer a new take on uniform dressing with a sense of joy and color.

Beginning with a pair of high-rise, bell-shaped pants in cotton velour and a matching sweatshirt, crafted for herself, Suzie wore the set to take her daughter to school. Other moms in the drop-off line took notice, among them Sofia Coppola, and became Kondi's first clients. In 2020, as the pandemic exploded throughout the globe, so did a focus on fashion’s burgeoning casualwear scene. Suzie Kondi’s exceedingly comfortable yet refined designs in mood-enhancing jewel hues were a perfect fit for the moment. The brand’s sales doubled, then tripled, then quadrupled. Net-a-Porter picked up her second collection, which sold out instantly.

What started as a pop-up store in Amagansett turned into a permanent fixture, and the first Suzie Kondi retail space was born. Her second physical boutique bowed in 2022, with a location in the vibrant Dimes Square neighborhood. The collection has grown to include a range of sumptuous cashmere knits, gauzy cotton and linen separates, and accessories in addition to the velour staples that began it all, including options for women, men and children. With plans for global expansion, including a retail store in Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach and a lifestyle label in the creation, Suzie Kondi is more than a brand: it’s a spirit of getting dressed for one’s self, with comfort and style, regardless of the occasion or the hour.

Madeline Hill, The Impersonal Foul04 Aug 202400:32:14

After being a child of divorced parents, her dad moved moved into a condo near downtown Atlanta. The sort of complex where a lot of White Men complained about how often the pool was getting cleaned and that they should change the gate code more often for “security purposes.”

They spent most of our Thursdays and Every Other Weekends watching sports at his condo. Georgia playing Florida? They watched it. The Falcons blowing another lead? They watched it.

More importantly, she watched SportsCenter. She’d wake up early to catch the end of the 6am broadcast and watch the Top 10 Plays. Then, she’d down a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats and watch the beginning of the new 7am broadcast.

She loves sports, but she hate sports commentary. Think of Impersonal Foul as the pre-game show that you can read while having a table of men argue about plays that haven’t even happened yet.

If deep dives into Zillow listings of McMansions that NBA first-round picks just purchased sounds like your jam, welcome to Impersonal Foul.

Enjoy this podcast with the founder of this pretty genius newsletter and learn her story!

Sasha Plavsic, Founder of Ilia Beauty22 Jun 202400:06:17
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit jjchase.substack.com

Born in Vancouver and raised in a rural, ocean-side setting just outside the city, Sasha has always been close to nature. Her younger brother and now business partner, Zac, suffered from acute asthma and allergies as a young child. Her mother, a true pioneer in health and wellness at that time, sought out homeopathic remedies to help heal her son. This included co-founding an organic food co-op with several families in the area, as organic food did not yet exist in the grocery stores. Through trial and error, Zac was healed primarily through diet, and went on to compete in sailing in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. This was an amazing accomplishment, especially after the doctors had predicted he would never be able to play sports.

Sasha’s interests fell into design, studying Typography in London and New York. She found herself in Los Angeles in 2006 and spent several years working as a branding executive within the fashion and beauty industries. After moving home to Vancouver for a brief sabbatical, her mother encouraged her to read the ingredient list on her favorite lip balm. Sasha was shocked to discover many of the ingredients were not safe, and it’s something she used daily. The challenge was set – re-create her favorite lip balm so that it would be safe, effective and natural. And so the story of ILIA begins.

I am so thrilled to share this podcast with Anna Numerologie. As we soon enter a year “1” in numerology, this could not be more fitting. Numbers speak to us through the sacred dimension and the intrinsic energies they carry. We all unconsciously associate ideas with the symbolism of each number, often without realizing it. For example, the symbolism of the number 1 evokes the individual, beginnings, the start of a new cycle, independence. The number 2 represents partnership and union. As for the number 7, this famous 7, found in so many religious texts, structuring the seven days of the week and referring to the seven musical notes and the seven chakras, it is associated with spirituality. Anna shares her story and how she created the “Code de réalisation personnel” aka your Code of Personal Fulfillment.

If you are interested in going deeper, I definitely recommend getting a personal consultation with Anna or participating in this amazing event she is planning in January! It is an event called “2026: The Year of All Possibilities,” designed to break the year down in an ultra-detailed way so that everyone leaves with a clear, practical GPS to navigate the entire year. Sign up here: https://calendly.com/annanumerologie/atelier-numerologie-10-janvier?back=1&month=2026-01

ENJOY,

xx,

JJ

Everyone who meets Ere agrees there is something special about her — perhaps it is the mystical influence of her Latin heritage. A childhood spent in Mexico with a traditional medicine man grandfather and a mother’s flair for home remedies & beauty recipes, made Ere curious about nature and healing. She obtained a bachelor in nutrition and certification in naturopathy, Bach flowers and acupuncture. Ere emigrated to Australia with her rich cultural heritage and dreamed of her own natural beauty line. In 2002, her dream was realised and Ere Perez Natural Cosmetics was born in Bondi Beach, Sydney.

WTF & limiting beliefs with Ronith Cohen26 Apr 202600:31:38
