I started The Social Media Manager in 2021 and have since helped hundreds of entrepreneurs and businesses with their organic social media approach through strategy and captivating content. I provide both consulting services and full social media services. I also coach social media managers who are either just starting out in their careers or who are looking to excel further in their social media career. About Brian Freeman: Brian is a serial entrepreneur focused on the creator economy. He built one of the largest influencer marketplaces in North America growing it to more than half a million content creators and 100s of brands like Disney, Amazon, Dunkin, Goop, Marvel, & TikTok. He and his team at Heartbeat were the first to tackle nano-creator marketing at scale on Instagram, and were the first to roll out an integration with TikTok in 2020. He is also a Techstars Grad (class of 2017) and is an active investor and advisor for other creator economy startups. He’s now building a new professional network for the creator economy, creatorland.com - focused on creatives, content creators, influencers, and the people who hire them. Season 2 · Episode 34
mercredi 17 avril 2024 • Duration 24:55
Hey crew! This week's episode, I get vulnerable and talk about how my business went from having 17 consistent clients to 4 in just a few months.
With rising costs and slower sales, my clients were struggling and with that, marketing budgets were cut.
Is the economy doing as well as everyone says it is?
Social media is an essential part to growing any business, so my prices have always been quite cheap to accommodate my clients. But with the current economy, even my cheaper prices couldn't make them stay on my client roster. This drastic change was scary to say the least.

About The Social Media Manager: This podcast is for social media managers and for business owners trying to figure out the whole social thing themselves! I’m your host Dakota Jeane – I started out in social media as a career by accident. I was working for the Kardashian sisters as their Retail Director for DASH in 2013 and had some aggressive goals to make the stores successful. I needed to bootstrap and do some marketing. Little did I know that my days of MySpace, Twitter, and growing my personal Instagram would give me the foundation to build our DASH Instagram account up 58% to 1.2 M followers in less than a year. Since then, I have helped hundreds of small and large businesses find their voice and grow their brand on social media! So now I’m here spreading my knowledge through this podcast so I can reach even more people like you who are looking to lead and let social media work for you. Let’s do the damn thing, shall we?
