September marked the graduation of the New Skool Class of 2023 and who better to usher in the new graduants than South African legend KG Mokgadi and the Don of Dar es Salaam Captain Ahmed Dahal. 

With a wealth of knowledge on the in's and out's of both the front end and back end of standup comedy in their respective countries and the continent, this episode highlights the work that goes into building a comedy pipeline stretching from Cape to Kanairo and what the future of standup comedy on the continent holds. 

These two will definitely be making an appearance on stage, on the internet or on TV near you. 

In June 2023, the almost mythical David Kau made a stopover in Nairobi from his world travels, we were able to convince him (*read bribe with golf*) to stick around for a week and in that time, he headlined a show (David Kau Live in Kenya) , facilitated our weekly workshop, took in the city of Nairobi and played a charity gold tourney.

So it only made sense we tied him to the green seat, laced him with Rwandan/ Ethiopian coffee  and had one of the most insightful & unfiltered conversations around comedy and life in general.

Funny on and off stage, Chris Mapane is not only a crowd favourite, he is a comedian's comedian, and this is by no accident. A tactical mastermind, Chris before his arrival in Nairobi, Chris did over 19 hours of research on the city, culture, trends and comedy scene in Kenya. 

Experience & talent at its very best, Chris has risen to legend status in the standup spheres having loved and practiced the craft for over 17 years. We talk beginnings, dropping out , check the technique, go over the basics and the future of  standup in Africa. 

Trading his wig & gown for the mic, Deo Gratias took the bold step to leave the courtroom drama for the trials and tribulations of comedy. 

On his visit to Nairobi through the comedy pipeline between Punchline Comedy Club Nairobi & Punchline Comedy Club Tanzania, Deo takes us through the paces:   school days where blackouts saw him perform sets before he even knew that he was doing standup, a chance encounter with a friend introducing him to comedy, first performances, taking risks and rising through the ranks.
