Christie-Anne Blondeau was barely 4 when the passion for singing and rhythm took hold of this unstoppable singer. Born in a small Francophone village in Saskatchewan, Christie-Anne Blondeau had no idea she could sing in different genres therefore she followed her surroundings.  She was always ‘different’ when she sang with others in her younger years.  She was louder, prouder and braver when she had a microphone in her hand. To this day, the stage is her safe place and with a microphone in hand (sometimes a mic is not even required because of the strength of her voice!), she takes command and brings you with her on her musical journey. Alberta Country artist Travis Pickering is joining us in this episode. Donny Parenteau is a multi-talented Métis musician hailing from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, whose rich heritage traces back to the historic figure Louis Riel and the Northwest Rebellion of 1885. A virtuoso on the fiddle, which he picked up at the age of 14, Donny’s musical journey has seen him become a celebrated singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, earning him the status of one of Canada’s most highly nominated independent acts. His twelve-year stint touring the globe with American country star Neal McCoy allowed him to perform on prestigious stages like The Grand Ole Opry and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Embarking on a solo career in 2003, Donny has since amassed over a hundred nominations across eight major award shows, including three JUNO nods. His work, deeply rooted in his Métis culture, continues to resonate, with his album “Bring It On” being placed in a time capsule at the Regina Legislative Building, set to be opened in a century.
