358: How to finish that next big project - with Bridgit Dengel Gaspard (ALL-STAR)17 Sep 202400:39:22

Here’s another all-star episode that I love so much and wanted to share with you today. As we round out this month's theme of “self-discipline” I think this topic is the perfect one to help us bring it all home.

Today, we are talking all about how to finish that next big project… no, really. Done, finished, tick it off the list, stick a fork in it, and be DONE. But the problem is… most projects we start, we never finish them! Why is that??!

My special guest today is author Bridgit Dengel Gaspard and she’s simplifying how to finish that next big project. You see, she’s got a theory that  the reason we mysteriously stop within sight of the finish line is actually because not all parts of you want what you think you want. In fact, these sub-personalities inside you have a distorted loyalty to your core negative beliefs and that’s what is keeping you stuck.

Here’s how to squash all of that.

My special guest today is Bridgit Dengel Gaspard and she’s simplifying how to finish that next big project.
  • Why driven, go-getter, type-A kind of people tend to lose steam just before completing a big goal in their life

  • What the “Final 8th” is and how to overcome any self-sabotage when you’re working towards your goals personally or professionally

  • How to speak to your inner selves for clarity and insight through a technique called voice dialogue

  • Why it’s just as important to uncover our “core negative beliefs” as well as your core values to get at the root of things

  • … and ultimately, what the key difference is between a person who achieves their goals easily vs. those who don’t.

If you’ve ever bought a book or an online course you haven’t finished… invested in a mastermind and then fizzled out halfway through… or started a DIY project and left it to collect dust, my friend, this episode (that originally aired in September 2020) is especially for you.

You have the power to create the life you really want to live, if only you simply remembered what’s possible… and make Bold Asks for what you need, want, and desire. Today is a fresh start and a new beginning.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

Q: Are you trying to figure out why you sometimes can’t seem to finish that next big project? If yes, this one is for you.

357: How to respectfully disagree - with Justin Jones-Fosu10 Sep 202400:44:08

Ever been in a heated debate (or worse) an argument where you flat-out disagreed with the other person? How did it go? How did it end? And more importantly, how is that relationship doing after that conversation? Let’s talk about respect today, my friend!

My special guest today is author Justin Jones-Fosu and he’s simplifying how to respectfully disagree, both at work and at home. As you think about the potential critical conversations that might happen today or this week ahead, I hope today’s conversation gives you deeper insight on how to keep your cool, not get triggered, but equally, how to gain a deeper understanding of the other side (even if you still disagree after that), so you can maintain a strong working relationship built on dignity, being valued, and solid respect.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Justin Jones-Fosu and he’s simplifying how to respectfully disagree. We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:
  • Why he’s not a big fan of the term “civil discourse” and instead, he suggests there’s a better way to frame things so your communication comes from the heart.

  • What “golden respect” is and how it can help you become a better listener and communicator.

  • How your earliest role models in life are the ones who’ve shaped your communication style now. He talks about his earliest memories of his mom and how she “planted the seeds of humanity” in him that rooted his current work in respectful conversations.

  • What the 5 pillars of respectfully disagreeing are and 1-2 practical tips that you can test out today.

    • Challenge your perspective

    • Be the student

    • Cultivate your curiosity

    • Seek the gray

    • Agree to respect

  • …and ultimately, when someone says something to you that is especially triggering and/or emotionally charged to get a rise out of you, how to handle that situation in the best possible way, moving forward.

Q: Are you ready to learn how to respectfully disagree? If yes, this one is for you.

352: How to stop procrastinating + get it done - with Sam Bennett09 Jul 202400:45:55

Question: Ever find that when you’ve got a big, looming deadline, you’re doing everything else BUT the thing that’s due? “Oh, look at those dishes over there! Man, I should clean out this junk drawer. Hmm, wonder what’s happening over on Instagram?” Sound familiar?

My special guest today is Sam Bennett and she’s simplifying how to stop procrastinating and get it done. When your to-do list is a mile long and the things that you really, really want to do in work and life seem further and further away from reality, the secret might be found in 15-minutes a day. No really!

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Sam Bennett and she’s simplifying how to stop procrastinating and get it done. We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:
  • If you’re feeling any sort of frustration or overwhelm that is causing the procrastination, she recommends “The 15-Minute Method.” What it is and how it works.

  • What the typical excuses are that we tell ourselves that keep us from getting stuff done and how to squash them.

  • How The 15-Minute Method helps those with ADHD, neurospicy and highly creative people, especially when dealing with perfectionism.

  • How to tap into the “Alchemy of Effort” and why it helps us create momentum.

  • …and ultimately, for those with long COVID or chronic fatigue, how this advice can particularly help you to get things done.

Q: Are you ready to learn how to stop procrastinating and get stuff done? If yes, this one is for you.

275: How to reawaken your sexy side - with Jolie Dawn (PART ONE - ALL-STAR)10 Jan 202300:27:16

Let’s spice things up a bit and talk about how to reawaken your sexy side. If you’ve been feeling like your confidence has gone into hibernation these last couple of years, this episode is especially for you.

My special guest today is author Jolie Dawn and she’s simplifying how to reawaken your sexy side. She believes that “your feminine pleasure is the gateway to your expression, your creativity and your deepest inner wisdom… that when you’re turned on, you’re connected to Life Force creation energy,” which changes your entire outlook on your work and life.  And all of this highly intrigues me! If your sexuality has laid dormant due to big changes in your life or felt so distant from your true identity for way too long, Jolie has the antidote to help you re-emerge.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Jolie Dawn and she’s simplifying how to reawaken your sexy side.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she defines “sexuality” vs. “sexiness” - what each are and and more importantly, what modern culture tries to sell and tell you they are, that simply isn’t true
  • Jolie shares the secrets to becoming “a Creatrix in your own life” - what that means and how to do it
  • What the 4 things you must consider the next time you get triggered that’ll help you deflect and recover fast
  • How to live a prosperous life, instead of just enduring and surviving, which many of us have done these last few years in a pandemic
  • …and ultimately, we talked about sex-magic… how to unlock this powerful energy in how we show up in our work and lives.

This all-star episode originally aired in March 2022 and I think it’s the perfect way to kick off the New Year.

Q: Are you ready to reawaken your sexy side? If yes, this one is for you.

B128: How to create a vision board (ALL-STAR)03 Jan 202300:24:54

Happy New Year, friends - to kick things off on the right foot, here’s how to create a vision board to help guide you in the year ahead. This has been a tool I’ve used for at least the last four years and let me tell you, it works! I create mine right at the beginning of the new year and it serves as a visual guide to help me remember what is most important in my life.

Let me explain… it’s a visual representation of my core values, my desires, and my goals. Every single element I put on my vision board has been carefully picked and prayed over to ensure it feels right… and it’s actually what I want to create in the year ahead.

As such, I wanted to share my top 5 tips on creating a vision board, so if you want to make one for yourself this year, it’ll be a simple process.

You can do this, I believe in you.

274: How to be loving - with Danielle LaPorte (PART TWO - ALL-STAR)30 Dec 202200:24:25

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to be loving. Her latest book takes a deep dive into seven virtues that are at the root of this work: Divine Love, compassion, forgiveness, wisdom, loving kindness, resiliency, and radiance. We touch on quite a bit of this today, too as we unpack what Love really is with a whole new perspective.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my all-star conversation with author Danielle LaPorte as she simplifies how to be loving.

It’s time to simplify… Here’s how.

My special guest today is Danielle LaPorte and she is simplifying how to be loving.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she simplified her life over the last few years to clear the way and find her way home to Love
  • What it means (to her) to lead a “heart-centered life and how to have self-compassion
  • Where her belief systems have evolved from writing “The Desire Map” to where she is now, focused on embodiment
  • Why she sees healing as a non-linear process, especially as it relates to forgiveness

…and ultimately, how to trust the heart intelligence of Love (rather than fixating on a guru) to make wise decisions, calm your nervous system, and experience greater peace.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

273: How to be loving - with Danielle LaPorte (PART ONE - ALL-STAR)27 Dec 202200:27:58

Today (I dare say) we are talking about the single-most important topic that we’ve covered on the podcast to date… Love. Divine Love. How to be loving… not only to others but equally to yourself. I mean, it’s the eternal life force and energy source at the root of all existence, right? So let’s talk about it.

My special guest today is Danielle LaPorte and she’s simplifying how to be loving in this all-star episode.  She believes that “Love is not a feeling or an emotion, but rather a state of consciousness.” It’s the glue that connects us all together collectively… In fact, we are never (really) alone or separated from Source.

And I have to say, this gentle, countercultural approach to living your life is not what you hear normally… to truly realize that you aren’t broken or need fixing or needing to buy more stuff to feel Loved. As D puts it, “What would change if you saw yourself––and others, through a Loving gaze? Everything. Everything would change.”

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Danielle LaPorte and she is simplifying how to be loving.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

272: How to say NO to hustle culture - with Jamie Varon (PART TWO - ALL-STAR)23 Dec 202200:36:48

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this all-star conversation, all about how to say NO to hustle culture. And this conversation has really stuck in the forefront of my mind this entire week. So many aspects of how we choose to live our lives, who we spend time with and who we invest in. What things we bring into our lives and what things we say, “thank you but no thank you.” All of this is wrapped up in this particular topic.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with author Jamie Varon as she simplifies how to say NO to hustle culture.

It’s time to simplify… Here’s how.

My special guest today is author Jamie Varon and she’s simplifying how to say NO to hustle culture.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she defines what ‘hustle culture’ is/isn’t and what the consequences and warning signs are that you might be caught up in this trap
  • What it means to be “radically content” - in a real, authentic and lasting way
  • When society tells us we are “not enough” - we remain stuck… how we can squash this old story and begin to unlearn what we’ve been taught us over time
  • Why it’s potentially dangerous to be in the constant pursuit of our “best” lives and ideas on what’s better
  • …and ultimately, she shows us how to reduce the negative self-talk that keeps you dissatisfied and feeling unworthy of happiness and deep contentment.

This conversation is the last in our series focusing on discernment and helping you ultimately to MAKE A CHOICE. I believe it’s the 1000 daily choices that make up my lifetime.

When I choose wisely, my little light inside shines brighter and brighter.

And equally, when I get overwhelmed or exhausted, have a slip or hit the big red F-it button in the sky, well… that’s a choice too. Either way, I hope you know that you’re never too far gone. When you are rooted down in the present, surround yourself with healthy people and life-giving communities, all it sometimes takes is the courage to take the very next step.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

271: How to say NO to hustle culture - with Jamie Varon (PART ONE - ALL-STAR)20 Dec 202200:36:03

It’s time to decide… is it time to (finally) say NO to hustle culture running and slowing ruining your entire life? I know I am… but you might not even be aware of the insidious undertone that is happening around us and inside us on the daily, that is totally driving the bus. It reinforces the lie of “not enough” and “you’re doing it wrong” because like any virus, it needs a host to feed on. And if that’s you I dare say, I’m willing to bet that it’s not only affecting your physical health, but your relationships, your sense of belonging, and your mental well-being. Let’s unpack all of that so we together can make a change.

My special guest today for this all-star episode is author Jamie Varon and she’s simplifying how to say NO to hustle culture. She believes you are totally capable of building a satisfied, contented, and happy life for yourself that gently opts out of the societal “shoulds.” There is an infinite wisdom inside you that knows what will make you your most vibrant self and she just wants to help you unlock your truth.

270: How to find deeper purpose in life - with Dan Millman (PART TWO - ALL-STAR)16 Dec 202200:20:03

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to find deeper purpose in life. And I feel like all of it is so divinely timed. This entire month, we’ve been simplifying topics in and around this realm to find clarity on the year ahead. From creating a vision board to visualizing a new path for your life ahead, my hope is that my conversation with Dan Millman has dropped down a few new seeds of inspiration as you uncover your deeper purpose in life today and beyond.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with author Dan Millman as he simplifies how to find deeper purpose in life.

It’s time to simplify…

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Dan Millman and he’s simplifying how to find deeper purpose in life.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • As a young man early on, he learned a valuable life lesson: “Stop thinking about it and jump!” Dan shares this childhood memory and how that phrase has guided him over his lifetime
  • How he defines the “human spirit” and why we humans yearn to find deeper purpose in life, unlike any other mammals that we know of
  • What the four purposes of life are:
    • Learning life’s lessons
    • Finding your career & calling
    • Discovering your life path
    • Attending to this arising moment
  • Through his spiritual quest over his lifetime, Dan encountered four mentors: The Professor, The Guru, The Warrior-Priest, and The Sage. He shares what he learned from each and why it’s important to find a mentor to help you uncover your purpose
  • …and ultimately, what it means to have a “peaceful heart” and a “warrior spirit” in life. How to incorporate this in a simple, practical way into your work and life

269: How to find deeper purpose in life - with Dan Millman (PART ONE - ALL-STAR)13 Dec 202200:25:21

How and where do you find deeper purpose in your life? My goodness, that’s a BIG question to tackle…. and a vital one, too. So, we’re jumping in head-first to see what we can uncover.

My special guest today is author Dan Millman and he’s simplifying how to find deeper purpose in life. Now, you may be familiar with Dan as he wrote the book, Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives many moons ago… or you may be new to his work.

Either way, he brings to the table so much heartfelt wisdom on how to turn intentions into action, challenges into strength, and life experience into wisdom. And when we do that, we begin to realize that there are no ordinary moments in life… when you look again, you realize that every moment has the bright opportunity to be mind-blowing and spectacular if you slow down to really see it.  And when you do, Dan believes that your deeper purpose shines back at you.

Here’s how.

B127: How to keep calm during the holidays (guided visualization)06 Dec 202200:11:05

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to keep calm during the holidays. It’s so easy to get caught up in the frenzy at this time of year. It feels like things are cranked to 11 no matter where you go, that it’s certainly counter-cultural to buck the system and to do something different. Remain calm, do less, stay present in the moment and choose a better way.

Therefore, I’ve chosen the theme of CALM for the month ahead. That will be our focus for all episodes on the podcast this month. By tuning in, let’s intentionally slow down this month and focus inward

So to kick off the month, today is another guided visualization episode, which we’ve decided to release on the first Tuesday of every month this season. How does it work? Simple! Let my voice be a guide for you as you focus inward to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to keep calm during the holidays.
One final whisper

When we focus on calm, we are consciously choosing to not participate in the frenzy. I find it’s a daily choice and sometimes I forget and get caught up in it.

But remember you’ve got the power to rise above. To choose to not engage.

You can do this, I believe in you.

It’s time to SIMPLIFY.

268: How to have a clutter-free Christmas - with Kathi Lipp (ALL-STAR)29 Nov 202200:50:53

Do you want to have a clutter-free Christmas this year? Let’s face it… Christmas and the holiday season is here and there’s no stopping it now. For some, just the thought of all the to-do’s and hanging with the in-laws gives you the hives. For others, the frenzy is exhilarating but by December 27th, you always seem to come down with flu-like symptoms that (totally) flatten you for days. Raise your hand if any of this resonates. But what if this year was simpler? What if this year could be different? And to that, I say YES!

My special guest today is author Kathi Lipp and she’s simplifying how to have a clutter-free Christmas. With a bit of humor and a little sass, she’s written the book on almost every aspect of the holiday season, helping us decide what to keep, what to scrap, and how to not totally lose your mind along the way. Here’s how.

My special guest today is Kathi Lipp and she’s simplifying how to have a clutter-free Christmas.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she defines what a “clutter-free” Christmas could look like, not only talking about the physical stuff but your schedule and your mental wellness
  • Why we tend to get caught up in the holiday frenzy in the first place
  • What a “Holiday Mission Statement” is and how to create one with your household
  • How to apply 3 of the 21 projects from her book, ‘The Christmas Project Planner’ in to your life over the coming weeks in simple, practical ways, including:
    • How to create your Christmas prep space with a “Magic Christmas Box”
    • How to schedule your time for the holidays
    • How to refresh yourself and carve out some YOU time

As with most all topics we simplify on the podcast, one core principle certainly rings true here:

It’s not about doing more, but actually doing less.

When we release the white knuckle grip of control and perfectionism on our lives and learn to say “no, thank you” to the obligations, tasks and unnecessary to-do’s, we ultimately will find peace, joy and a heck of lot less anxiety. I encourage you to think about what you might let go of this year as you’re listening to our conversation ahead. Kathi is funny, irreverent, and my kind of girlfriend who’s saying “enough!” to the insanity and helping us all get back to the real reason for the season.

Q: Are you ready to have a clutter-free Christmas? If yes, this one is for you.

B141: How to be more patient (guided visualization)02 Jul 202400:14:53

Let’s do a guided visualization exercise together: here’s how to be more patient. Oh man, I think this one is more for myself than anyone else! When you want something, like yesterday, it’s incredibly hard to wait, hold things loosely, and be open to any outcome that may materialize.

They say “patience is a virtue,” yet I think of it more like a muscle that needs training.

So let’s work on that today.

267: How to sleep better at night - with Shae Leonard (ALL-STAR)22 Nov 202200:45:02

Do you wish you could sleep better at night? Insomnia, anyone?! Welp, relief is on the way because we’re talking all about sleep on today’s episode!

My special guest today is health coach Shae Leonard and she’s simplifying how to sleep better at night. Whether it’s stress or something else that’s keeping you up at night, Shae leads us through seven simple steps to course correct that’ll have you sleep like a baby in no time at all.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Shae Leonard and she’s simplifying how to sleep better at night.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she defines “sleep hygiene” and why it’s so important to focus on this right now
  • What the first step is to improve your sleep hygiene to help you sleep better tonight
  • What the 7 fundamentals for great sleep hygiene are and how these simple shifts can make a positive impact in the long run
  • Everything we need to know about “full-spectrum light” - what it is and why we need to avoid it 1-2 hours before bedtime, plus she shares a few healthy alternatives
  • Why we need to avoid amping up our brains at night and those sneaky ways we do it without even knowing it
  • …and ultimately, why it is important to “quiet your digestion” at night - how to do it, starting tonight.

It’s crazy to think that the majority of people are going to be fast asleep at 2am tonight in your neighborhood and city. Like the whole world powers down to rest, all at once. If you’re someone prone to late night brain whirling or you seem to be tossing and turning for no reason at all, I hope today’s conversation really gives you some tools to try out tonight.

And let us know what worked! I’m always keen to hear from listeners on what you’re learning from the podcast, testing out in your own life, and seeing results in simplifying… reach out on Instagram @thesimplifiers, tag us, DM me… I’d love to hear from you!

Now, I’m not talking about numbing out or escaping from the stress and overwhelm but actually getting to a state of peace about where things are at, personally and professionally for you. Is it possible?

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with Peter Russell as he simplifies how to relax your mind.

It’s time to simplify…Here’s how.

My special guest today is Peter Russell and he’s simplifying how to relax your mind.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • For many “Type A control freaks,” it’s hard to let go… Peter shows us a better way, letting in and letting be
  • In a culture that glorifies BUSY, how to return to a natural (relaxed) mind, yet still get things done
  • What the parable of the rope is and how it applies to our minds
  • If we release our thoughts, feelings, interpretations, beliefs and expectations, what’s left? What you could hold on to that creates a sense of identity and safety
  • …and ultimately, how this practice of relaxing your mind helps to improve your relationships both personally and professionally.

Ok, let’s roll the tape back to September 2021 when this conversation originally aired and simplify how to relax your mind with author Peter Russell.

Q: Are you ready to relax your mind? If yes, this one is for you.

265: How to relax your mind - with Peter Russell (PART ONE - ALL-STAR)15 Nov 202200:33:44

What would it take to relax your mind? Now, I’m not talking about numbing out or escaping from the stress and overwhelm but actually getting to a state of peace about where things are at, personally and professionally for you. Is it possible?

My all-star special guest today is Peter Russell and he’s simplifying how to relax your mind. Spoiler alert: it’s all about letting go of your mindset as holding on creates tension and unmet expectations. Peter shows us that what we get hung up on are generally not the tangible problems we face in the present… but rather, the thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and expectations that we have about them. This is what trips us up, yet they aren’t actual things… they only exist in our mind. So, when we learn to strip them of their power, we relax our minds and gain greater peace of mind, no matter what turbulence might be happening around us.

Here’s how.

264: How to cultivate gratitude + happiness - with Nancy Davis Kho (ALL-STAR)08 Nov 202200:48:45

I love this all-star episode so much and it’s perfect for our theme of Gratitude and Grace this month, talking all about how to cultivate gratitude.

My special guest today is author Nancy Davis Kho and she’s simplifying how to cultivate gratitude and lasting happiness in your life by writing one letter at a time. Nancy has found healing through writing and her latest book, ‘The Thank-You Project,’ recounts her experience of writing thank-you letters to 50 people, places and pastimes that have shaped her lifetime so far. If you’re looking to heal old wounds or create more gratitude in your life, this episode is for you.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Nancy Davis Kho and she’s simplifying how to cultivate gratitude + happiness. In this episode, you will learn:
  • Why the practice of “deliberate gratitude” has the power to be restorative in our lives and mental wellness
  • How writing thank-you notes (even ones you DON’T send) can help you create more resiliency, happiness and connection in your work and life
  • What the “Thank-You Project” is and how to try it yourself in 3 simple steps… see, say, savor
  • How to decide which letters you could write first and why
    • Who has helped me and how?
    • Who has shaped me and how?
    • Who has inspired me and how?
  • How to decide which letters to send and which NOT to send… and why
  • …and ultimately, she shares the profound life lessons that she learned in this year-long experiment that helped her change the trajectory of things, in a good way.

I know that there is so much joy that can be found when I reconnect with beloved people from my past. When you muster up the courage to check-in, touch base, and write a letter from the heart, good things always come in return. Even if you write the letter and never send it, your heart softens, gratitude rises, and release happens.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

B126: How to express your gratitude (guided visualization)01 Nov 202200:15:39

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to express your gratitude and give thanks. The autumn season is upon us and as we roll into Thanksgiving and the holidays, it’s a perfect time to step back and recognize all the goodness in your life, currently.

Therefore, I’ve chosen the theme of GRATITUDE + GRACE for the month ahead. That will be our focus for all episodes on the podcast this month. As the outer world is slowly amping up the pace for the holidays, let’s intentionally slow down this month and give thanks to all things that are so good in our work and in our lives. Let’s do the radical thing and consciously choose to do less, express our gratitude in an authentic way and do it all with grace.

So to kick off the month, today is another guided visualization episode, which we’ve decided to release on the first Tuesday of every month this season. How does it work? Simple! Let my voice be a guide for you as you focus inward to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to express your gratitude and give thanks.

You can do this, I believe in you.

263: How to finish that next big project - with Bridgit Dengel Gaspard (ALL-STAR)25 Oct 202200:39:43

… and ultimately, what the key difference is between a person who achieves their goals easily vs. those who don’t.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

Q: Are you trying to figure out why you sometimes can’t seem to finish that next big project? If yes, this one is for you.

262: How to set healthy boundaries - with Nancy Levin (ALL-STAR)18 Oct 202200:47:22

We are kicking off our all-star season starting today, bringing back some of my favorite conversations from the vaults of The Simplifiers Podcast and sharing them once again.  I think that this one (which originally aired in June 2020) with author Nancy Levin fits so well inside the theme of “self-discipline” that we are exploring this month.

So, how do you set healthy boundaries in life, especially if you feel like yours get trampled on over and over again? In my mind, boundaries are in fact, one of the very best ways to cultivate self-discipline, helping you keep your eye on the prize of what you want most in life.

Therefore, it’s a delight to feature this all-episode once again. Through her books, Nancy helps overachieving people-pleasers learn to live life on their own terms. Here’s how.

My special guest today is Nancy Levin and she’s simplifying how to set healthy boundaries.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Why some women struggle to define and uphold their boundaries, personally or professionally
  • How to begin the process of defining your boundaries by writing a “boundary script”
  • What to do if you’re attempting to conquer codependent behaviors
  • The steps to creating your own “boundary pyramid,” a simple tool to help you set healthy boundaries
  • How to say ‘no’ effectively and stick with it

…and ultimately, understanding what your “bottom-line boundary” is and how to set it and communicate it with others, confidently.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to use the Myers-Briggs to avoid burnout. No matter which of the 16 personality types there are (The Healer, The Architect, The Teacher, The Protector, to name a few), this wisdom is applicable to you. Because when you understand your preferences that dictate your conscious actions and unconscious behaviors, you can create better boundaries in your work and life that help you avoid burnout.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with psychotherapist and author Jessica Butts as she simplifies how to use the Myers-Briggs to avoid burnout.

260: How to use the Myers-Briggs to avoid burnout - with Jessica Butts (PART ONE)11 Oct 202200:29:57

What if I told you that if you knew what your Myers-Briggs personality type was, it could help you avoid burnout… would you be curious to learn more? As you may know, there are 16 different personality types and in fact, there are secrets to how each individually face, process, and handle stressful situations.

My special guest today is author and psychotherapist Jessica Butts and she’s simplifying how to use the Myers-Briggs to avoid burnout. She’s helped clients around the world to create a brand new definition of success, utilizing a tool kit built for your personality type. B125: How to keep your eye on the prize04 Oct 202200:17:50

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to keep your eye on the prize. What does that phrase mean to you? For me, it’s all about staying focused on your goal and more importantly, blocking out the distractions and noise around you that might lead you astray.

Therefore, I’ve chosen the theme of SELF-DISCIPLINE for the month ahead. That will be our focus for all episodes on the podcast this month. The holiday season (nay, whirlwind) is just around the corner and wouldn’t it be nice and refreshing if this year you didn’t feel swept under? That instead, you felt calm, cool, collected and totally managing your self-discipline to stay on track, moving towards what you actually want and choosing to opt out of the frenzy. When you do this, you keep your power and ultimately make wise choices in all aspects of your work and life. Count me in… let’s get in that headspace!

What does it take to have a thriving, meaningful career? For some, even asking the question seems so far out of reach and bubbles up a bit of Negative Nancy thinking, like, “Who am I to ask this? Oh, I’m too old… too young… too busy to stop and even consider that there might be a better way to work.” All of which is rubbish, you know that right? 259: How to be loving - with Danielle LaPorte (PART TWO)30 Sep 202200:24:30

But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with author Danielle LaPorte as she simplifies how to be loving.

258: How to be loving - with Danielle LaPorte (PART ONE)27 Sep 202200:28:56

Today (I dare say) we are talking about the single-most important topic that we’ve covered on the podcast to date… Love. Divine Love. How to be loving… not only to others but equally to yourself. I mean, it’s the eternal life force and energy source at the root of all existence, right? So let’s talk about it.

My special guest today is Danielle LaPorte and she’s simplifying how to be loving.

B123: How to refresh your outlook on life (guided visualization)06 Sep 202200:18:28

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to refresh your outlook on life. Here in Texas, the air is getting crisp and cool on my morning walks and the leaves are slowly fading from green to a brilliant display of reds, yellows, and browns. Yet once again, everything is changing ever so slowly… Do you feel it, too?

Therefore, I’ve chosen the theme of “Refresh” for the month ahead. That will be our focus for all episodes on the podcast this month. That feels right in my heart, especially as things are changing around us (the weather, the trees, the garden). I feel pulled to also reflect on what’s changing inside of me, as well. It’s a time to open up the windows, let in some fresh air, release whatever isn’t serving you any longer, and refresh your outlook on life. This is also a time for deep reflection into our values, habits, patterns, routines and choices. And then, do something about it.

So to kickoff the month, today is another guided visualization episode, which we’ve decided to release on the first Tuesday of every month this season. How does it work? Simple! Let my voice be a guide for you as you focus inward to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to refresh your outlook on life. You have the power to change things and that power sits inside of you now.

I hope this visualization sticks with you the entire week through. Do it again and again if you need clarity or fresh ideas to help your spirit feel refreshed once again… because when you tap into your deep inner knowing, you’re accessing the Divine. That electric energy that can be found inside all of us that connects us all together. It knows. You know. We all know if we are brave and we open ourselves to it.

You can do this, I believe in you.

254: How to manage your money wisely - with Miriam Neff + Valerie Neff Hogan (PART ONE)30 Aug 202200:26:36

Do you feel like you know how to manage your money wisely? On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you in this department? For me, I feel like there’s always more to learn as we save, spend, invest and share the money I make in life, especially when I think about one day sending my kids off to college and if my retirement strategy is really as strong as it could be.

My special guests today are mother and daughter duo, Miriam Neff and Valerie Neff Hogan and they are simplifying how to manage your money wisely. With inflation on the rise, it’s no wonder many feel like they are living paycheck to paycheck these days, not sure how to stretch their budget any further, much less save for the future. In their eyes, more women than ever before have control of capital and are making the overarching financial decisions for their households. Yet, not every woman has command of the lingo, the underlying principles, or the big-picture perspective of money management. Framed by their Christian values, they are here to provide the financial overview you need to make wise decisions in this realm.

Here’s how.

My special guests today are Miriam Neff and Valerie Neff Hogan and they are simplifying how to manage your money wisely.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • What the first few steps are to course-correct if you’re in debt and how to understand your current money situation better
  • How to wisely manage your money, including best practices with housing, managing debt, insurance and discretionary expenses like clothes, food and entertainment
  • Why they think we humans are so obsessed with collecting and buying unnecessary stuff
  • Which things to look for when choosing a financial advisor to run alongside you that has your best interests at heart
  • Why it’s so important to have a living will, regardless of how old you are - how to get one sorted
  • …and ultimately, what role giving and generosity plays in managing your money wisely.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

Q: Are you ready to learn how to manage your money wisely? If yes, this one is for you.

253: How to identify your pain points in life - with Eleanor Beaton (PART TWO)26 Aug 202200:26:29

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to identify your pain points in life. This conversation has really stuck with me this entire week through, because let’s face it… we as humans are conditioned to avoid pain at whatever cost, right? But then, ironically, we sometimes stay in situations that cause a lot of pain and strife for fear of the unknown on the other side once we take the leap. (That doesn’t make any sense at all!)

I know, for me, when I make a Bold Ask out into the world, I’m always fully supported. I may not always get what I want, when I want it, but I do know that I’m making forward progress and building incrementally on my confidence and courage. And maybe that’s the secret to what Eleanor is talking about here?

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with leadership expert Eleanor Beaton as she simplifies how to identify your pain points in life.

It’s time to simplify… Here’s how.

My special guest today is Eleanor Beaton and she’s simplifying how to identify your pain points in life.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Why we (as humans) tend to avoid acknowledging our pain points in our career and in our non-work lives
  • How to identify the pain points (and roadblocks) in our life that are holding us back from reaching our full potential by doing a Pain Audit
  • What she means by the phrase “using pain to prune your life” - and how to begin to do it
  • Learn to release these pain points with intentionality in a practical way

…and ultimately, she talks about the 3 P’s (Power, Presence, and Position) - a simple and profound framework that helps her prune the pain points in her work and in life... and find real freedom.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

252: How to identify your pain points in life - with Eleanor Beaton (PART ONE)23 Aug 202200:29:05

At times, it’s obvious to identify your pain points in life - those things that cause you stress, strife, or leave you feeling like things are starting to go off course and you’re not sure how to get back on track. But what about the things in your work and life that are causing you pain that you are oblivious to? How do you begin to courageously work through these elements to get unstuck and start to live the life that you actually want?

My special guest today is leadership expert Eleanor Beaton and she’s simplifying how to identify your pain points in life… and do something about it. She believes that when you take action to acknowledge, understand, and release your pain points one by one, your entire life trajectory changes. Easier said than done? Not exactly… step one is listening to this conversation and then doing something about it.

251: How to adopt a healthy mindset - with Toks Aruoture (PART TWO)19 Aug 202200:22:10

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to adopt a healthy mindset. For me, the more and more I discuss how the subconscious in our brains work, the more I get genuinely curious with how the mind, body and spirit work in harmony. Even deeper still, what happens when one is out of whack? Does it affect your ability to make wise decisions (Yes.) Does it hijack your day and jeopardize where you are headed next? (Yes and yes.) So yeah, let’s talk about it.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with Toks Aruoture as she simplifies how to adopt a healthy mindset.

It’s time to simplify… Here’s how.

My special guest today is Toks Aruoture and she’s simplifying how to adopt a healthy mindset.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Why the “back-to-school” season is a particularly great time to refresh your mindset
  • Her beliefs on why “everything that happens in your life is directly related to your mindset”
  • What roadblocks and hindrances that you might have (consciously or unconsciously) that are keeping you from having a healthy mindset
  • How to “play big” in life and (as she says), unwrap your gifts that’ll help you thrive
  • …and ultimately, why she believes authenticity is the key ingredient to a healthy mindset and how to be more authentic in your work and life.

All this month, we’re focused on the theme of “Discernment” -  learning how to make wise decisions to change the course of your work and life in a positive way. Every day is a fresh start and a new beginning.

1000 daily choices is how you begin a brand new life.

We will explore what that means on every level this month, both personally and professionally.

As always, ping me over on Instagram @thesimplifiers - and tell me your thoughts:

  • What new ideas did this conversation spark for you?
  • On a scale of 1-10, how healthy is your mindset right now?

Share this episode with a loved one and discuss it together.  The accountability found in just one trusted friend or colleague is immeasurable in helping you make forward progress.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

250: How to adopt a healthy mindset - with Toks Aruoture (PART ONE)16 Aug 202200:28:39

Are you ready to learn how to adopt a healthy mindset? Because the truth is, when you get your mind in a healthy place, everything else starts to (like magic) slot into place. Have you noticed this?  Opportunities open up, people pop into your mind and when you reach out to them, collaborations get sparked and life begins to unfold in beautiful ways. Abundance is found where there was once scarcity. So again, the question really is… are you ready?

My special guest today is Toks Aruoture and she’s simplifying how to adopt a healthy mindset. She believes that when you realize and understand that everything that has happened and will happen in your life is 100% directly related to your mind, your whole reality changes. And so she poses a very simple question for you to ponder while listening to our conversation, “what healthy seeds will you plant in your mind today?”

Here’s how.

249: How to make BOLD decisions - with Josefine Wanner (PART TWO)12 Aug 202200:22:18

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to make BOLD decisions. I don’t know about you but I really love this time of year. The kids are headed back to school, the weather is (eventually) getting cooler and cooler, and I can kickstart my weekly routine with a little bit of electric energy to shake things up a bit. It’s a time of new beginnings and fresh starts, which most times, begins with me making a BOLD decision… saying with my outside voice what I want, need, and desire. And then, doing something about it. I think that’s at the heart of what Josefine and I are talking about here.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with Josefine Wanner as she simplifies how to make BOLD decisions.

It’s time to simplify… Here’s how.

My special guest today is Josefine Wanner and she’s simplifying how to make BOLD decisions.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Why she believes that some people (women in particular) stumble on making bold decisions in their careers and what the first step is to change that immediately
  • How to begin to clarify and identify your core values
  • What role self-confidence plays in being a more bold decision maker and how to build yours up once again
  • How to get buy-in from your family and the key people in your life on the decisions that you are considering making, professionally
  • …and ultimately what the 4 core steps are that you need to implement in order to show up for yourself:
    • Commit to yourself being important
    • Block out the “me time” in your agenda
    • Add recurring “emergency time” blocks in

My special guest today is Josefine Wanner and she’s simplifying how to make BOLD decisions.  She believes that when you get clear on your core values and intentionally create time to rediscover your joy, you become a better decision maker. Someone who sees the opportunity, navigates the risks wisely, and boldly steps out of your comfort zone. In fact, your work and life depend on it.

B122: How to make wise decisions (guided visualization)02 Aug 202200:16:45

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to make wise decisions. Every single day, we are faced with a 1000 daily choices. Some tiny, some monumental. But all of them make up the rich tapestry of your life. Choose wisely and your life will be surrounded by impeccable people who inspire you to evolve and help make a positive impact on the world. Choose poorly and sleepwalk through the journey by consuming, numbing, and playing small.

What if it really was that simple? I’d like to guide us to consider this thought more deeply today.

So to kickoff the month, today is another guided visualization episode, which we’ve decided to release on the first Tuesday of every month this season. How does it work? Simple! Let my voice be a guide for you as you focus inward to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to make wise decisions.

247: How to shine bright - with Sarah Hagstrom (PART TWO)29 Jul 202200:25:39

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to shine bright and reclaim your radiance. As I get older and wiser, I’m starting to realize where the root of true radiance and vibrancy comes from… it’s not the clothes I wear or the makeup I put on. It’s not even my physical body that I see in the mirror. But rather, true radiance where my little light shines bright all starts from within. Finding that safety and security by finally coming home to my mind, body and spirit FIRST, rather than seeking it externally. Let those words sink in for a second… what you seek is already within you right now. And I hope this conversation with Sarah solidifies that in your heart as well, on how to do it.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with Sarah Hagstrom as she simplifies how to shine bright.

It’s time to simplify… Here’s how.

My special guest today is Sarah Hagstrom and she’s simplifying how to shine bright.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Some insight into her childhood and how that affected her health as an adult - what she did to reverse the chronic pain and tackle the digestion issues once and for all
  • What she means when she says “prune for progress” to reclaim your radiance and to truly live your purpose
  • When we realize nothing is “good or bad” or “right or wrong” in life, how that simple, yet profound truth helps us shine brighter
  • How to put an end to “people-pleasing” tendencies and focus more on doing the things that truly light you up first
  • …and ultimately, she shares simple, practical tips that have helped her live with more grace, ease and flow both personally and professionally.

246: How to shine bright - with Sarah Hagstrom (PART ONE)26 Jul 202200:31:11

Part of being a truly radiant person is to learn how to shine bright, yet without that pesky ego getting in the way. Many times you hear about people who “suck all the oxygen out of the room” or others who feel destined to be a wallflower forever. And in both scenarios, I find it fascinating that these are fear-based perceptions… Comparing yourself to others is the quickest way to dim your own light inside. So how do we avoid this fear loop and instead show up to life as our full, vibrant selves?

My special guest today is Sarah Hagstrom and she’s simplifying how to shine bright and reclaim your radiance.  Her personal story battling with chronic pain, digestive issues, overworking and people pleasing is one that I’m sure many of us have grappled with at some point in our own lives. The good news is… it doesn’t have to be your “forever story.” Sarah shows us a better way to do less and focus on the things in life that truly light you up… and as she puts it, she teaches us to remember the simple phrase of “let’s try easier” to help you lighten the load when things feel heavy, stressful or overwhelming. It seems that the secret to radiance is here, too.

Here’s how.

245: How to leap into something new - with Matthew Dicks (PART TWO)22 Jul 202200:20:35

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to leap into something new. And since then, I’ve been really thinking about the crazy ideas and dreams that I (too) have put on the back burner for way, way too long. Like writing a book, delivering a TED talk, and getting back to painting large-scale canvases for fun. Why do we stall on the things that matter most to us? Matthew really dives deep into this and how to get unstuck.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with author Matthew Dicks as he simplifies how to leap into something new.

It’s time to simplify… Here’s how.

My special guest today is Matthew Dicks and he’s simplifying how to leap into something new.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Why the word “someday” is his least favorite word in the English language and how you can replace it in your vocabulary
  • Instead of asking your 8 year old Inner Child for advice, why you need to ask the 100 year old version of yourself instead - you might be surprised by what you hear!
  • He spends nearly the entire first half of his latest book “Someday is Today” on the concept of time - why that is and how to radically adjust your viewpoint on time in order to take the leap into something new
  • What the importance is of saying “yes” - especially now, when unexpected opportunities come along - and why that helps boost your radiance
  • What the “Spotlight Effect” is and why that might be a roadblock keeping you from trying something new

Are you looking to leap into something new soon? Maybe you’ve been thinking about writing a book, starting a new relationship or making a big career leap… but something has been stopping you from doing the thing, for like, way too long? What is it and how do we overcome that hesitation?

My special guest today is author and storyteller Matthew Dicks and he’s simplifying how to leap into something new.  As Matthew puts it… “Are you good at dreaming about what you’re going to accomplish ‘someday’ but not good at finding the time and getting started? 243: How to apply the 5 Love Languages after divorce - with Dr. Gary Chapman (PART TWO)15 Jul 202200:25:58

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to apply the 5 Love Languages after divorce. And one thing I love about being a podcaster is chatting with thought leaders like Dr. Gary who are role models for us all to shine bright and stand boldly in their belief systems.

Disclaimer: Now, Dr. Gary is a Christian and while I want to be clear, no matter what your spiritual beliefs are, the 5 Love Languages are universal. So when I ask Dr. Gary a listener-submitted question about “inviting God into your heart,” I realize that might not be applicable to everyone listening. No worries. Just take what you need, bless and release the rest.

We each are on our own spiritual journeys to better understand ourselves and what we do and don’t believe… so I hope this conversation gives you what you need on your own path towards greater wisdom.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with Dr. Gary Chapman as he simplifies how to apply the 5 Love Languages after divorce.

It’s time to simplify… Here’s how.

My special guest today is Dr. Gary Chapman and he’s simplifying how to apply the 5 Love Languages after divorce.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • An overview of the 5 Love Languages - what they are and how it all works
  • How the 5 Love Languages can be applied specifically to dating and not just marriage
  • What advice Dr Gary has for people who haven’t dated in a really long time as they are once again putting their hearts out there to a new partner
  • I asked a hard question… Can your primary Love Language evolve as you get older, especially if you found your Love Language was neglected in your past relationship/marriage?
  • His best advice on dating people who have children - if you are considering one day to create a blended family with your partner, what to keep in mind there and how the 5 Love Languages can help you here as well
  • …and ultimately, Dr Gary shared some of his spiritual beliefs as a Christian as I asked him a listener-requested question about God. Specifically, how to go deeper into your spiritual practice as a whole, if you desire.

All this month, we are focused on the theme of “Radiance” - sharing ideas on how to live a vibrant life where your inner light shines bright once again. Because friends, getting back out there with dating and meeting new people, it takes an obscene amount of courage. Trust me, I know!

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

My special guest today is Sarah Reitsma and she’s simplifying how you should (and shouldn’t) use AI at work. We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:
  • Where to begin if you’re contemplating using AI at work. How to determine what tasks you should delegate to AI.

  • All the incredible things that you could delegate to AI right now.

  • And equally, how you should NOT use AI, right now.

  • What sort of guardrails and precautions that you need to keep in mind, in order to keep your customer data safe and company information secure.

  • …and ultimately, she shares her insights on how she sees others in the “contact center,” meaning areas of the business that handles customer interactions (call centers, chat support, customer service) are using AI in this area of an organization?

Q: Are you ready to learn how to use AI at work? If yes, this one is for you.

It’s time to #DoTheThing!

242: How to apply the 5 Love Languages after divorce - with Dr. Gary Chapman (PART ONE)12 Jul 202200:30:13

Ok so, you’re divorced, you’ve done the inner work and you’re ready to get back out there and date again… so, how do you apply the 5 love languages after divorce? Can this deep wisdom guide you through this season too? (spoiler alert: YES!)

My special guest today is Dr. Gary Chapman and he’s simplifying how to apply the 5 Love Languages after divorce. The truth is, if you’re dipping your toes back into the dating pool, it can be quite daunting… especially if it’s been awhile for you. Online dating in a post pandemic world is a steep learning curve, friends! It’s nice to fall back on this fundamental wisdom to understand how to connect with new people and find what is right for you.

Here’s how.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

Q: Are you ready to get back out there and date, applying the 5 Love Languages after divorce? If yes, this one is for you.

B121: How to be a vibrant person (guided visualization)05 Jul 202200:24:38

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to be a vibrant person. You know, the vibrant person that you innately are, deep down inside. All this month, we are focused on the theme of radiance… that glow, that shine, that juicy essence of your soul that naturally oozes forth when you’re in your element. It’s that expansive space of Love when you’re in the flow, connecting with people who light you up, or you’re doing the work that energizes your spirit.

And I believe that it’s your being’s natural state, if you allow it… if you give yourself permission to step up and into the light. That undeniable vibrancy will show up in photos of you when you’re having fun, when you’re doing your best and when you let your true spirit shine through. So yeah, let’s talk about that!

So to kickoff the month, today is another guided visualization episode, which we’ve decided to release on the first Tuesday of every month this season. How does it work? Simple! Let my voice be a guide for you as you focus inward to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to be a vibrant person.

You can do this, I believe in you.

It’s time to SIMPLIFY.

My inner child has been really craving a bit of travel and adventure lately and so I’ve done the thing and booked in a couple of epic adventures this summer that I’m really, really looking forward to.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with travel agent Bridget Scotti as she simplifies how to create more adventures in your life.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Bridget Scotti and she’s simplifying how to create more adventures in your life.

  • …and ultimately, she gave us some valuable insight and tips for solo travel, especially if you’re a woman traveling alone this summer. How to stay safe, have fun, and see new sights on your own.

All this month, we are focused on the theme of “Adventure + Play” to shake things up a bit… bring a lighter energy to the podcast and to our earbuds.
