Today's episode is a special one, being the very first of the newly rebranded podcast. I’m so excited to dive a little deeper into the purpose of rebranding to Scalable Freedom, and share a bit of a personal update for where I’m at in 2024. In line with the new direction of the show, I’m also taking you through the REAL way to create freedom as a coach, creative or consultant. The biggest problem I hear from people is that while they want to scale their business, they also want to create the freedom to spend time enjoying life. As a business owner, I’m sure you can relate. So, what do you want your next five or ten years to look like? And how do you find the balance to have both growth and freedom? In this episode, I’ll take you through the three key lenses you can use to create scalable, sustainable freedom: 1. Mindset Asking yourself good questions about what you actually want is so useful. Freedom is a personal and unique thing, and it can look different for everyone. It could involve travelling first class, feeling financially secure or buying that Chanel bag you’ve been dreaming of. Whatever it is, take the time to identify and define what freedom means to you. I promise it will be so much easier to create a business that supports your specific desires once you know what the dream looks like. 2. Strategy Do you have the business model right now that truly supports the freedom you want to create? Every business is unique, as are its requirements to deliver exceptional services to your clients. For example, a mastermind model may require a balance between delivery and marketing, while with a consultancy, you’ll spend more time on operations and building out a team. I encourage you to sit down and consider how you could switch gears if necessary, to ensure your everyday actions align with the type of business you want to create. 3. Marketing Where people tend to go wrong with marketing is buying heavily into trends and not thinking enough about how to create systems that work for them on repeat. Think of your marketing as an engine in your business, where you focus on repurposing content, establishing good processes and delegating tasks to help save you time and energy. It has been a journey filled with ups and downs, but one that has brought me immeasurable joy and gratitude. For many people, pregnancy can feel like a slowdown, a season of things winding down. However, for me, it's an entirely different story. Over the past few years, I've gone through trials and tribulations, facing challenges and setbacks. But with the arrival of 2024, I see a whole new world opening up and I’m thrilled to dive into it. One of the aspects that excites me the most about 2024 is the deeper level of connection I get to share with you all. I cannot wait to bring you more lifestyle content, taking you behind the scenes, and sharing the ups and downs of this beautiful journey. It's essential to acknowledge that throughout this journey, I made choices that felt right for me. I chose to navigate the difficulties separately from my business, waiting until I had processed my emotions and felt ready to share. This decision allowed me to find my way through the challenges and now, as I share my story, it feels liberating to be transparent and open about the process. With years of preparation, I am confident in the structure I have created for my business. My commitment to my clients remains unwavering. I will continue running Swift Inner Circle and Swiftmind Scaled, while prioritising the number of clients I take on. As a business owner and mentor, I believe deeply in supporting women through significant seasons in their lives. Welcome back as I continue sharing my extended conception and IVF story. Before going further, I want to extend a trigger warning. Throughout this post and the subsequent one, I'll be referencing pregnancy loss, the journey of IVF, mentions of suicide, and an extensive conception journey. If you haven't already, I urge you to visit part one of this story, where I share the first year and a half of our journey, ending in December 2022. My partner and I had been trying to conceive naturally for over a year followed by three unsuccessful attempts with ovulation induction. The truth is, this entire journey, narrated in all its raw, uncut entirety, showcases not a polished tale of success but the expression of an unyielding steadiness of spirit. Despite the despair and feeling like a shell of my former self, the businesswoman in me blazed forth. Business served as my solace and my refuge. Something else to focus on, and give me a greater sense of purpose in the dark times. This journey, marinated in pain, loss and fierce resilience, is a testament to human grit and the power of hope. And now, finally, we're here. We’re pregnant. My journey, though marked with some of the most challenging moments of my life, has taught me so much about resilience, determination, and hope. It's been a process of healing generational trauma, physical hardships, spiritual discoveries, and emotional extremes. I feel an intense vulnerability unveiling this story, but it feels like the right time. You don't have to be on an extended conception journey or an IVF route for this story to resonate with you. If you haven’t already noticed, I just love this time of year where we get to do wrap-up episodes and reflect on the year that’s been. So today I am here with my best and worst of 2023, where I get a little personal and share the highs and lows of my year. One of the standout moments of this year was the launch of our mastermind model. At the start of the year, I knew it was time to create a program centred around running a mastermind. The feedback and results from this program have been truly phenomenal, and I couldn't be prouder of the content and the calibre of clients it has attracted. Incredibly, the business has also achieved its best revenue year yet. It's an amazing feeling to see the business continue to grow and generate more income while consciously scaling down. We made intentional decisions to focus on what truly mattered, and the results speak for themselves. Client results have always been a top priority for us, and 2023 was no exception. As a coach, there's nothing more fulfilling than witnessing the growth and success of those I work with. The confidence and clarity I've gained over the years have allowed me to provide exceptional guidance and recommendations, making it a truly joyful experience. While 2023 brought many successes, it also presented its fair share of challenges. Balancing personal struggles with the demands of a business is hard, but I'm proud of how I've shown up and persevered. While I haven’t been able to share these personal challenges with you yet, I’m excited to finally do so over the next few episodes. Making difficult decisions is an unavoidable part of business growth. From closing down our first mastermind program to letting go of valued team members, this year was full of hard choices. Making them was emotionally challenging, yet necessary to keep moving forward. My aim is that by sharing my own triumphs and struggles, you’ll be encouraged as you look ahead to your business journey in 2024. | 5 Unique Questions I'm Asking As I Map Out 2024 In Business | 21 Nov 2023 | 00:14:55 | |
As we approach the end of the year, it's a perfect time to reflect, strategise and set the stage for a successful year ahead. Today, I want to share five unique questions I’ve been personally simmering on as I consider the year that’s been, and map out 2024 in my business. Question #1: Which trends will I leverage and which will I not buy into? In the past, I've fallen into the trap of wanting to jump on every exciting trend in my business. However, I've learned that simplicity often leads to success. Instead of spreading myself too thin, I ask myself which trends I plan to leverage and which ones I'll skip. Question #2: What excites me for 2024? As a manifesting generator, I know I have to lead with what feels exciting and enjoyable. And when something gets me going, it’s a sure sign that it’s truly in alignment for me. I'm currently asking myself how I can incorporate new and exciting things for my clients, such as upgrades or additions to existing programs. Question #3: How can I shorten the buying cycle? While I thankfully haven’t had issues with clients’ purchasing decisions this year, I’m looking ahead to preempt it occurring in the coming year. While this year’s trends show that the buying cycle has been lengthened, I want to ensure I keep it as short as possible. I talk through some strategies I’m playing with to achieve this goal. Question #4: What conversations do I want to lead in 2024? Thought leadership and storytelling are becoming increasingly essential in a world where AI is becoming so widespread. As AI continues to evolve, our humanity and unique perspectives will be what set us apart. I'm pondering what conversations I want to spearhead, and encourage you to also lean into what will differentiate you. Question #5: How will I incorporate AI into my business? I think next year, we’re going to see AI on steroids! It offers such exciting opportunities for productivity and efficiency, and I’m very keen to explore its potential. I know that I have a lot of learning to do, and so I’m open to experimenting and testing AI in various aspects of our operations. While I don't have all the answers to these questions yet, I hope they spark your thinking around planning for the new year. I’m sure you’ve heard plenty of stories about less-than-desirable mastermind experiences. Unfortunately, these poorly delivered masterminds have given our industry a bad rap, and while I'm not one to gossip, I've got a personal story to share that I believe holds some crucial lessons. In this episode, I’m talking about the time I signed up to a terrible mastermind and share with you the valuable lessons I learnt from the experience. Around two years ago, I decided to join a mastermind that turned out to be the worst financial investment I've ever made - and somehow also NOT the worst. While I had been running my own masterminds for a couple of years, I decided to join another program to gain a fresh perspective and continue improving my own offerings. And boy, did I learn a thing or two! From basically being ghosted by the person running the mastermind to being incorrectly charged hundreds of dollars, this mastermind came with a significant number of red flags. The overall lack of engagement and support left me feeling invisible and disheartened. I weighed up whether or not to request a refund, but eventually decided to stick with it. And I can honestly say I’m glad I did. My experience in this mastermind was far from ideal, but it had a silver lining. It reinforced my belief in the importance of delivering exceptional value and support to my own mastermind participants. It also drove home the significance of effective communication and genuine care for clients. After a truly disappointing experience, I was proud of the systems and processes in my own mastermind model and became even more confident in what I had to offer to my valued clients. I take you through the lessons I learnt and encourage you to take them on board for yourself, whether you’re running a mastermind, looking to start one or interested in becoming a participant. I elaborate on each of these four points and the reasons I prioritise them over everything else to do with my business. As a CEO, knowing your strengths and where your responsibilities truly lie are crucial to maintain the high level of service you provide to your clients, as well as your team. Getting bogged down in areas of your business where your attention doesn’t belong is not only a catalyst for burnout, but can give your team a sense that you don’t fully believe in their capabilities. Today I’m sharing why I’ve decided to close one of my masterminds for the foreseeable future. This decision definitely wasn’t planned for this year, and while it felt like a big (and not to mention crazy) move, I knew as soon as the idea crossed my mind that there was no turning back. I’ve always been incredibly decisive and known to follow my intuition, and it was no different this time around. I share my reasoning behind closing down this specific mastermind, which centres around creating space to expand my teaching within the business. I also talk about how reducing the number of masterminds I oversee allows me to engage more deeply with each coaching client. Making this decision wasn’t easy, and there were of course a few tears when it came to first saying it out loud. However, I run through the different pros and cons that helped me follow through on my conclusion, and talk about taking risks to allow further growth and support the longevity of my business. I'm excited to take you behind the scenes today to chat about how I've set up my seasons of business in 2023. I love sharing these types of episodes with you because I know how much I enjoy listening to behind-the-scenes insights from other entrepreneurs. It's fascinating to see how we all live, work, and plan in our businesses. So, get ready for some valuable tips on planning strategically and finding that perfect balance between growth and rest. I've found that dividing my year into three distinct seasons works wonders for avoiding burnout and staying focused on my goals. In this episode, I go into detail about these three seasons which centre around growth and launch, delivery and rest. My growth and launch season is when I'm all about bringing new clients into the business. During this period, I'm fueled by creativity and have somewhat of a push energy to really push the needle forward. I share exactly what this looks like in my business in terms of when I structure these seasons and how they flow really well with my Mastermind model. Following these launch periods, I shift gears to prioritise client support and delivery. This period is somewhat of a maintenance mode, ensuring that my clients are supported in the best way possible. I talk about how this period is during the winter months for me, enabling me to really nestle into those cosy vibes. Throughout the year, I place a lot of importance on rest and rejuvenation, which means that I schedule proper holiday periods where I'm completely off calls to recharge and disconnect. I also have rest pockets during my call-free weeks where I can avoid Zoom fatigue and give myself that extra downtime. This is such an important piece in terms of understanding what I need to avoid burnout and really be able to give my best to my clients. In this conversation, I also share how I anchor my Masterminds during certain parts of the year and strategically create space to be able to flow with my energy and creativity around other launches. I also talk about constantly looking three to six months ahead to create a sustainable business strategy. I believe that success does not have to look a certain way, and having a 7 figure business won’t suit everyone in terms of what they want in life. However, for those looking to achieve this level of success, I share the mindset of generating consistent monthly revenue in my own business. I talk through expenses, profit distribution and the different strategies I adopt to achieve my goals and create the life that I desire. It’s always really inspiring and motivating to hear how other people map out their days and it can be so useful to hear about the little rituals and habits other entrepreneurs build into their days. So today I’m sharing with you what a day in my life looks like as a seven figure business owner. In this episode, I share an overview of the season I’m in right now, both in life and business, and how this season flows through to impact my monthly and weekly schedules. I talk about how I prepare for each week on a Sunday and how I set Mondays aside as CEO days for strategy work, curriculum and content creation. I also make sure I have call free days and weeks to make space for rest, other projects and deeper strategy work, which is something I love to focus on. I’ve been following this schedule for over a year now and it works incredibly well for me. I love the structure that it brings to my days and weeks and I certainly attribute this structure to the fact that I don’t burn out in my business. I’ve never met a business owner who has it all together and isn’t navigating something challenging in their personal life. With so much of our lives online, it’s easy to look at other people and think that their lives are easy, but there is always more going on behind the scenes. The last two years for me have been the biggest by far, but also the most wonderful in my business. We will all face challenges in life but I want to encourage you today that you can experience a really great business, even while you’re navigating hard things on the personal front. Today I’m sharing three things I do during those difficult times that really allow me to show up authentically in my business. I talk about compartmentalising and how I do this in a way to serve me on a personal and professional level. We all have so many components of our lives where we want to be the best we can be, but our success doesn’t have to be universal across all those areas for us to feel successful. I share how this relates to having a CEO mindset and not allowing my feelings to run my business. During those challenging seasons, it’s so important to fully lean into your support system. I talk about the ways I allow my life to be supported by those close to me and what this looks like in my business as well. From experience with my clients, I can honestly say that those who allow me to get to know them on a deeper level are the ones who see the best results. If you’re going through a season where things are a bit all over the place on the personal front, it doesn’t mean that your business has to fall apart. There’s a lot of conflicting information in the online space about how to create successful program launches. So as someone who has consistent six and multi six figure launches, I really wanted to share my own perspective on how to see the best possible results when launching a new offering. As creative people, it’s important for us to follow our inspiration and work with that creative flow of expression. It's also vital to recognise the value in planning, and I believe the number one reason I see the amazing results that I do comes down to creating a solid plan. In this episode I run you through my own process of creating a launch, from ideation to execution, and encourage you to implement some practical strategies in your own business. While the thought of sitting down and formulating a solid strategy can be overwhelming, it’s in fact the approach that will save you the most time and energy in the long run. Today I give you permission to organise to plan your calendar for months ahead, knowing that you are far more likely to bring to life what it is you want if you operate from a place of strategy and organisation. I talk about the approach I took in creating a clear launch runway that allowed me to work backwards from the end goal I had in mind. Having clarity on your overall objective is key, and will support you to consider what steps to take that will lead people to your offering. Inevitably, there are moments of stress during a launch that make it difficult to create. I run you through my process of mapping out my content arc, and how this supported me to get clear on my messaging and let the creative process naturally unfold. Knowing your overall themes will give you the structure you need to push through creative blocks and find your voice. In my view, it’s better to have a plan and change it than to have no plan at all. And to manifest anything in life, you need to be able to both call in and be really clear on what it is you're wanting to create. During the launch of my new mastermind and a coinciding house move, I’m happy to report that I did not burn out. And I say that with an element of surprise, given that burnout is an all too familiar narrative in the online space. However, becoming exhausted and overwhelmed during a launch doesn’t have to be your reality, and today I share how I ran a $145K launch without burning out. There’s a common view that launching can lead to a lot of stress and overwhelm, and that we may need months to be able to recover. However with positive changes in processes and ways of being, this doesn’t have to be the case. Today I share with you three key strategies that really supported my wellbeing during my launch and helped me maintain a consistent level of energy. I talk about the non-negotiables I prioritised such as sleep and healthy eating, and share the ways I regulated my nervous system in moments of stress. While I discuss the certain people, systems and resources that supported me during this time, I also acknowledge that life looks different for each person, and encourage you to look for ways you can ensure you’re supported in your own unique journey. I run through how I planned my days, knowing what works best for me and when my energy is highest. When are you the most focused? What type of work suits you best and at which time of day? It’s important to understand what makes you tick so that whatever the task, you can operate at your very best. There’s no superwoman story behind my launch, and it’s not about pushing yourself past the limit in order to succeed. Working out your daily rhythms and creating healthy, practical habits are key to really being able to show up the way you want to. Some big things have been happening in my world, and today I wanted to check in and talk a little bit about what’s been happening over here. I fill you in on the super successful launch of my new program, The Mastermind Model, and share the wild ride that was manifesting our new dream home. Five or six years ago, I was starting this business from the dining room table of our one-bedroom tiny apartment. Today, I’m coming at you from a large office space within an incredible house that’s quite honestly my dream home. I share the process of how my husband and I tapped into all our manifestation tools, and encourage you to see the possibility and potential for amazing opportunities in your own life. I talk about getting clarity around what you really want, and how stepping out to put things in motion can facilitate that deep understanding. I also discuss trusting your own intuition when it comes to making a change, and taking action when you feel like something in your life may be misaligned. I share the different challenges that came with buying our new home, and the risks we took despite others calling us crazy. When it comes to the process of manifesting, things aren’t going to necessarily always work out the way you hope. You may need to take a risk or do something you didn’t expect. I’ve been having a lot of conversations lately around the topic of how to hold space for groups of people in masterminds. The environment of a group mastermind is so different to that of the private coaching space so today I’m sharing some specific strategies and examples from my business which will help support you in running your own group calls. In this episode, I take you through three specific things to keep in mind when running your group mastermind calls. The first is managing your energy and how your role as a coach is to remain impartial. This allows you to look at things from a clear vantage point and support your clients from that place. I share some practical strategies on how to manage your own energy before and after calls so you can hold space from a grounded place. I also discuss the importance of knowing your limit on calls and understanding what structure works for you. When you are clear on what your calls look like and you have boundaries around how you run those calls, it's going to be so much easier for you to hold space for everyone. A clear structure really supports the group mastermind container and I talk about articulating your structure to your clients repeatedly and consistently so they know exactly how they can show up on calls. Last week I shared with you some of the key successes when it comes to running masterminds and today, I run through some of the biggest mistakes that I often see. I also get personal and share mistakes I’ve made myself when running my first masterminds, and the lessons I’ve learnt along the way. It’s such an exciting adventure to create your own mastermind and we want to do the best possible job at creating an incredible experience for our clients. However, we often strive a little too much to over-deliver. Don’t get me wrong - I’m all for delivering immense value to clients in any kind of experience. However, packing too many things into your mastermind is going to leave your clients exhausted and unsure where to spend their time and attention. I talk through my own experience with over-delivering and invite you to think about the experience you’re creating. What will help get your client the best results? As high performers, we often struggle to accept when things go wrong. I personally would beat myself up when things didn’t go to plan. But adopting a mindset of knowing that there are some things you just can’t control will give you the confidence to push through challenges and do your best to improve the things you can control. Running a mastermind requires being organised and a certain amount of pre-planning. Does it mean you have to have everything completely mapped out before you start? Absolutely not - I give some practical advice around prepping for your mastermind, and encourage you to begin thinking about the systems and processes you need to set up and run it. I know exactly what it feels like to just be a number within a mastermind - not feeling cared for or really supported as a client. I would never wish for my clients to feel this way, and I know you wouldn’t either. I speak about creating an experience that starts and ends with you caring about the human, and how this will have people coming back to learn from you and continue to invest in you.
