12. 5 Ways to Increase Your TPT Conversion Rate13 Sep 202200:13:50

Send us a text! (Your number stays private)

If you know me then you know that I could talk about SEO, and how to leverage it for your business, all day long. However, there’s something else that teacher sellers like you really need to be doing in order to maximize your results and boost your sales. Can you guess what it is?

It’s optimizing your product listings for better TPT conversion rates!

You see, SEO will bring traffic to your product listings, but that alone won’t increase your sales. We need to actually convert those browsers into customers.

It comes down to this simple (but super important) equation: Page Views x Conversion Rate x Price = Your Sales. This is why SEO and optimizing your product listings work hand in hand.

So, if you're unsure if you have products that need to be updated for a better TPT conversion rate, where do you start? First, you need to take your emotion out of the equation and look at the product objectively. Then, answer the five questions that I'm sharing in this episode in order to determine whether or not a product needs to be updated. Once you answer these questions, you will have a plan for making your updates so that you can increase your TPT conversion rate as soon as possible.

1:26 The 3 factors you need to look at if you want to increase your sales

2:08 What the average TPT conversation rate is

3:25 5 questions you can ask yourself when it comes to looking at your products to decide which things need to be updated

7:12 Which should you work on first: product listing optimization or SEO optimization?

11. How to Deal with Search Algorithm Changes06 Sep 202200:13:59

Send us a text! (Your number stays private)

You’ve heard me talk again and again about the importance of SEO, and for good reason! A solid SEO strategy can boost you to the top of search results for your resources and products whether you’re on Google, TPT, Amazon, Etsy, or YouTube. The key is understanding the search algorithm for the platform you’re on.

Frustration often occurs when algorithm changes pop up, which has been happening a lot this year on both Google and TPT. As TPT sellers, I know a lot of you are worried about how these changes could affect your business.

With Google and TPT both being the leaders in their industries it’s good to be in the know, so that you can make any necessary tweaks. Thankfully you’ve got SEO nerds like me to help you navigate these algorithm changes! 🤣

In this episode of The Savvy Teacher Seller, I’m diving into why platforms make algorithm changes, what “black hat SEO” is, how you can always make the best experience for your customers and readers by using proven SEO practices, and how to bounce back from negative results of search algorithm changes.

1:01 The true purpose of a search engine, whether it’s Google or TPT

3:46 Why search algorithms change, and how we know an algorithm is changing

4:54 How you can keep algorithm changes from affecting your business too much

7:36 What to do if algorithm changes are negatively affecting your business, and when to expect results

9. 5 Must-Have Plugins for Every WordPress Site23 Aug 202200:14:35

Send us a text! (Your number stays private)

One of the most frequently asked questions that I get from TPT sellers is, what are the must-have WordPress plugins that I should have for my website? If you’ve had the same question, then today is your lucky day because I’m answering it in this episode, as well as why the right plugins are so important!

If you have a WordPress website for your teacher seller business, then it’s important to know that you want to keep your site as lightweight as possible. This will ensure that your site runs quickly, and trust me, site speed matters! Did you know that if it takes 10-15 seconds for a page to load on your site, people are almost 200% more likely to leave your site?

So how do you ensure that your WordPress site is functional, while still being lightweight? That’s where plugins come in. Installing the right plugins is crucial, and there’s a few must-have plugins I believe every site should have. Tune in to hear my top 5 must-have WordPress plugins for every site.

Whether you already track your TPT data closely and consistently or not, you'll walk away with something new to try. Jarrett offers so much helpful advice on the reasoning behind collecting your TPT data, which data you should even be looking at, what to do after gathering data, and his best tips for low traffic sellers. Do you use the TPT note to followers? Like so many other teacher sellers, maybe you feel like there’s no point because it seems like no one opens them anyway.

I used to think the same thing. However, I’ve started using it more consistently and I’m happy to report that it’s paying off in my store! The results aren’t always immediate, but they are there. Not only is it leading to more product sales, but also to new subscribers on my email list.

If you’re wondering how I’ve gotten these results, and how I track the ROI of TPT note to followers, then stick around. I’m filling you in on what works…from how often to send your TPT note to followers, to what you should avoid sending in your notes to followers, and more.

3. Your About Page is Not About You12 Jul 202200:14:26

Send us a text! (Your number stays private)

If you have a website for your teacher seller business, then you likely have an about page. The big question is, are you using that page in the most effective way? See, lots of people make their about page all about them, but the reality is that your about page is not actually about you!

If this sounds backwards, I totally get it. It's an "about page", so why wouldn't it be about you? Well, because it's actually about the why and how that you're helping the person who is reading the about page.

Your about page is valuable real estate on your website because it's yet another place that people can go to find out if you know what you're talking and whether or not they can trust you. Don't worry, there's still a time and place to share some relatable personal information about yourself on this page as well!

In this episode, I'm giving you my 5-part framework that you can use as a template to build an effective about page. If you're a TPT seller and you don't have a website yet, you'll want this framework as well because this information also applies to the "my profile" tab in your TPT store!

After listening, go take a look at your about page, determine which pieces of the framework you have in place, and add the parts that you’re missing. This one step can make a big difference!

0:50 2 main mistakes that TPT sellers make when it comes to their about page

2:58 The true purpose of your about page

4:00 My 5 part framework for an effective about page

8:50 The one thing people forget to do at the end of their about page

In today’s episode, you’ll learn why diversification is so important in business, the three different types of diversification, how to ensure you never jeopardize the golden goose, and the various options for diversifying your TPT business.

Stay tuned for future episodes in the diversification series to hear from TPT Sellers who successfully diversify their TPT business while protecting their Golden Goose.

There are a few things in my business that I can look back and say, “I wish I did that sooner”. One of those things is writing an email welcome sequence. Tune in to hear the importance of email welcome sequences, how to set one up, what to include, and more. I hope it helps you discover the power of a welcome sequence so that you can welcome your subscribers with open arms and keep them coming back for more!

01:18 - Five reasons that your email welcome sequence is so important and benefits that it can bring to your business

04:02 - Specific tips for creating your email welcome sequence
