How We Got to 6 Kids — Adoption & Why We Started This
Season 1 · Episode 1
mardi 24 février 2026 • Duration 23:17
Meet Jeremy and Lauren Mefford— the couple behind The Rooted Home. If you've followed Lauren's YouTube channel, you know she gets straight to the point. But this podcast is something different: consider it an invitation into their living room.
In this first episode, Jeremy and Lauren introduce themselves and share the story behind why they started the podcast — and why now.
They open up about their whirlwind first eight years of marriage: three biological children, adopting three children, three miscarriages, loss, health challenges, and now a brand-new baby.
They also pull back the curtain on how Lauren went from a PhD in nursing and a career in the medical field to becoming deeply passionate about homemaking, and how that passion eventually grew into a YouTube ministry and now this podcast.
This isn't a polished highlight reel. It's real life — the kite and the string, the anchor and the boat — two imperfect people sharing what they're learning about faith, marriage, family, and running a home for the glory of God.
Coming up in future episodes: adoption, family rhythms, faith lived out in the home, building a strong family culture, health and nutrition, and more.
