Ep 58 - Moments in Life26 Aug 202100:55:33

There are years in life when it feels like not much has happened and then there a moments in life when it feels like years have happened.

We've been away from the podcast for a minute, not because we've really wanted to but because a lot of life has been happening in the Rolling Thunder Family these past three or four weeks. Rob and his wife, Liz, welcomed a baby girl to the world, the Halfords had one turn sixteen, and Ben was in a boating injury in The Gulf that resulted in him fracturing his T-12 vertebrae.

This episode, we get a little deep and reflect on God's grace and goodness. Everyone is okay and healthy, we are all just learning to slow down a little bit and enjoy what the good Lord is putting in front of us...learning not to take a second for granted.

If you don't follow the Wild Turkey Report, you do yourself a disservice. It is a wealth of knowledge and an all around great resource. David is passionate about turkeys now, but he's even more passionate about turkeys in the future. A legacy matters. We were fortunate enough to get on the line with one of the most interesting and influential people in the turkey world. Dr. Mike Chamberlain a.k.a the Wild Turkey Doc. Dr. Chamberlain is a Terrell Professor in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. His research and the insights we gather from the data are significantly influencing the way that we think about turkey movement, behavior, and population. We hope to get the Wild Turkey Doc on the podcast for an episode in the future. If we didn't touch on a particular topic you'd like to hear us discuss, please let us know and we'll try to get it in in a subsequent episode!

2,500 miles off the western coast of the United States, Hawaii is much more than sand, surfing, and beaches. Hawaii is home to a thriving rainforest, tall mountain peaks, large cattle ranches, and some world class turkey hunting. Hard to beat that!

Ep 37 - Bonus Episode: Stood Up03 Mar 202100:45:30

What if you set up for a podcast and no one came? You'd get episode 37. We were set to talk to our buddies Jeff Lovan and Brandon Pendergrass from Chasing Spring but they got held up in the airport ahead of the Hawaii turkey hunt. So instead of shutting it down, Ben, Rob and their father Greg Kinney turned the beagles loose. We talked a little bit about turkey hunting, field care for your dog, and the hard conversation of when to retire a dog. This ain't the main course but consider it an appetizer for Rolling Thunder Thursdays. Hopefully we can catch up with the boys, soon!

If you can't be all of those things, you have to assemble a team who is, and they've done just that. Ep 20 - Kent Cartridge w/ Jeff Barry05 Nov 202000:41:38

In this episode, Rob and Spence call up our friend, Jeff Barry, from Kent Cartridge. Jeff is the VP of Sales and Marketing for Kent and is a man on fire about ballistics, relationships, and innovation. We talk about the origins of Kent Cartridge in the wake of the federal ban of lead shot for migratory birds, innovation in a competitive market, and the physics of why speed matters. If you haven't already, grab a box (or a case) of Kent and get it out in the field to try it out! They make a pretty dang good shell... we are proud to partner with Kent.

Ep 19 - Kanati Taxidermy w/ Tyler Coleman & Dave Beck29 Oct 202001:36:09

In this episode, we welcome Tyler Coleman and Dave Beck from Kanati Taxidermy on the show to take a deep dive into the world of taxidermy. Far removed from the one-man band in the garage down a dirt road, Kanati is a world-class taxidermy operation out of Pennsylvania serving clients all across the country and beyond.  Tyler and Dave walk us through the entire process from harvest to finished product and show us what it takes to preserve memories so that you can relive the hunt for years to come. Along the way, they share a few tips for how to time, select, and care for your harvest, both, in the field all the way to the time you drop it off at your taxidermist.

The Kanati boys were kind enough to share all sorts of helpful information and their time and we were blown away at the craftsmanship and passion that they have for what they do. These guys are a riot and you won't find two nicer guys. Check it out!

Ep 18 - Lunch Pail Podcast: Mallard Estates Outfitter in North Dakota27 Oct 202000:24:58

We aren't exactly known for short episodes on the Rolling Thunder Podcast. In this episode, we are doing something a little different and are putting together a shorter episode in the hopes that you can listen on your lunch break from work or something along those lines. Don't worry - we are still coming out with our weekly, long form episodes. This is just bonus! So grab your lunch pail and join us as we catch up with Blake McWilliams of Mallard Estates Outfitter as he joins us from North Dakota. We recap their trip and look ahead to the 2020 waterfowl season which is quickly approaching. We talk getting on big groups of ducks, geese, and....pheasant?

Thanks for listening! We appreciate your support and look forward to the season ahead. If you like the show, share it with a friend! Don't forget to subscribe, so you won't miss an episode.
