On this episode, Gene is proud to welcome special guest "Wildcat" Wendall Cooley! Wendall was a huge star in the territory days and one of Gene's favorite wrestlers growing up going to Memphis and Continental shows. They talk about Wendall's entire career but they do spend a lot of time discussing Wendall's time in Continental. They dissect his feud with "Exotic" Adrian Street and Miss Linda and the important role it played in establishing him as he just arrived in the territory. They talk about the importance of his memorable ring music and who gave it to him. They talk about his brief feud with Chris Colt and why it didn't take off the way they hoped it would. Wendall discusses why he enjoyed gimmicks like "pole matches" and how It broke up the monotony of working regular matches night in and night out. They also talk about working bullwhip matches with "Dirty" Dutch Mantell, working Sid Eudy in some of Sid's very early matches in his career, meeting Frankie Lancaster early on and how they came to be "the Heartbreakers" years later in Puerto Rico. Also, they talk in detail about Wendall's ill fated heel turn in 1987 when they had him join the Stud Stable and the Continental fans just weren't having it! All that and much more. They discuss his wrestling career including a fun story of how he LITERALLY "snuck into" the business in Memphis thanks to some HUMONGUS advice from a friend, his very first wrestling match that just happened to be on Channel 5 Memphis televsion, and how having his gear with him at the right time helped make that happen...and not in the way you would assume it would, working for Mid South Wrestling, getting ribbed by winning a championship, how he became a "Rich Cousin", how the Rich Cousins team ended and how he found out, USWA Wrestling, Smoky Mountain, WCW, WWF, Marcus Dupree, and all points in between, We touched on everything! A great interview with one of my favorite old school wrestlers who still has a lot of love for the business and it really shows in this conversation. Check it out and please share it with anyone you know that's a wrestling fan!

I do apologize for the sound issues throughout the interview, there was an issue with the internet connection apparently that wasn't as bad live as it was in the recording but it doesn't take away from the overall conversation so please power through the couple of breaks in the sound that happen in the interview.

UWF Fury Cast Episode #8: SUPER REF!!16 Sep 202401:16:50

Gene Jackson and Bob Anderson are back again to take a light hearted, fun look at UWF Fury Hour Episode #8! The Main Event is what Herb Abrams described as being "An Olympian against a Russian just like Rocky 5!" There's so much wrong with that statement...we'll just move past it. Most importantly this is the episode with the INFAMOUS incident where the referee tried to no sell three chair shots from Dr. Death! The debut of "Wild Thing" Steve Ray! The non debut of Larry Zbyzsko, and much more! Guaranteed to feature 100% less Billy Jack Haynes than previous episodes! Retro Wrestling w/Gene Jackson Episode #4: Terry Golden14 Sep 202401:04:19

On this episode, Gene welcomes the man who brought "Kick Ass Wrestling" to Memphis, Terry Golden!  A fun conversation with the man who created and promoted KAW which eventually became the WWE Developmental promotion, Memphis Championship Wrestling.  It's a fun story hearing how KAW came to be and Terry even shares a story about it that he hasn’t been shared in previous interviews based on some new information he just recently learned. KAW was a great promotion that doesn't get enough attention and I was thrilled to get to talk to Terry about it here. We hear about making the transition to MCW, the challenges that came with their very first show and whether or not KAW could have lived on had he not taken the Developmental Deal from WWE.

We also hear stories about Sid, Bryan Danielson, the infamous Tasha Simone & Kevin Lawler segment from KAW TV, The Night to Remember event coming to Jackson, TN on September 21st, and much, much more!

Debeers hateful racism for weeks merely needs to sign a piece of paper to suspend the Colonel for 180 days, so that should be the end of that...or is it?? "Wild Thing" Steve Ray takes on "Cutie Pie" Louie Spicolli who also SINGS at one point in this episode! Of course we hear from the promo master himself John Tolos and last week's tag team main event that spawned from a singles match now leads to.....another singles match.

Retro Wrestling w/Gene Jackson Episode #11: A "Spellbinding" Conversation w/Del Rios09 Nov 202401:21:55

On this week's episode Gene Jackson welcomes Del Rios, who you may know as the Spellbinder from the USWA or Phantasio from the WWE.  Del has had a number of personas throughout his wrestling career and in the process has had not only a pretty unique and extraordinary pro wrestling career, but the same can be said for his life in general.  Del was the very first ever WWF "Developmental Wrestler" having his very first professional wrestling match at a WWF RAW TV taping before being hired on and sent to the USWA in Memphis to develop.  As strange as that sounds that's not even close to being the most unique and interesting part of Del's history.  Tune in and hear about the dangerous life Del led before finding his way into the wrestling business and the events that led him into professional wrestling.  They discuss his friendships with Brian Christopher, Sid Vicious, Big Vito, and so much more!

This is one episode you don't wanna miss!

Del Rios is back in the game accepting bookings for appearances at events, conventions, signings, speaking engagements, as well as competing in wrestling matches.  If you have a serious inquiry about booking Del Rios for your event, you can email Del at delrios43@gmail.com. You can also reach out to Gene Jackson via social media or at genejackson95@gmail.com and he can get you in contact with Del as well.
