This time, we’re heading deep into the woods for Never Hike Alone (2017), the fan-made Friday the 13th horror film that proves you don’t need a Hollywood budget to bring Jason Voorhees back to life!

We follow hiking vlogger Kyle McLeod as he stumbles across the abandoned Camp Crystal Lake, only to discover that he’s not alone in the wilderness. What follows is a tense fight for survival against one of horror’s most iconic killers.

In this episode, I’m watching and commentating on the film, sharing behind-the-scenes facts, production trivia, and my thoughts on what makes this independent horror project such a standout among Friday the 13th fans.

We’ll talk about director Vincente DiSanti, the film’s surprisingly modest budget, Jason Voorhees, and why fan films can sometimes capture the spirit of a franchise brilliantly.

This week on The Real Get to da Choppa, I’m heading into the Wasteland for my first ever watch of Turbo Kid (2015)

A HUGE thank you to Luke Hayes Payne for sending me this film, because WOW… I absolutely loved it!

It’s got everything I love about cult cinema — a brilliantly simple but surprisingly charming story, loads of gore, ridiculous weapons, fantastic costumes, a great cast, and that wonderfully weird 80s/90s post-apocalyptic vibe.

And then there’s The Kid, the mysterious cowboy, and of course… APPLE!

But the Turbo Kid rabbit hole didn’t stop with the movie!

I also discovered “No Tomorrow” by Le Matos feat. PAWWS — an incredible music video/short film that actually works as a prequel to Turbo Kid, telling part of Apple’s story before she meets The Kid. It was directed by RKSS and is essentially another little trip back into the Wasteland. (Exclaim!)

And if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a Turbo Kid video game!

Released on PC via Steam in 2024 and later on Nintendo Switch in 2025, it’s a BMX-powered pixel-art Metroidvania that continues the story immediately after the movie. You get to ride around the Wasteland on your BMX, battle enemies with the Turbo Glove, explore new areas and, naturally, create plenty of pixelated gore! (Steam Store)

So join me as I talk about my first experience with Turbo Kid, what I thought of The Kid, Apple, the world, the gore, the costumes and that fantastic soundtrack — and why I think I may have just discovered another absolute cult favourite!

In this episode I’m diving into The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) with a fan commentary and reaction, starring Brendan Fraser!

Join me as I continue the Mummy series with this third instalment, taking the adventure to a whole new setting with ancient China, terracotta armies, and a different kind of supernatural threat.

This entry brings a fresh direction to the franchise, with bigger action, new characters, and a shift in tone compared to the earlier films. I share my thoughts, reactions, and impressions as the story unfolds — from the action and effects to how it compares with the previous Mummy films.

Whether you’re completing the trilogy or revisiting the series, this one definitely sparks discussion among fans.
