Cultural Connection & Community Impact
Season 4 · Episode 42
samedi 5 juillet 2025 • Duration 31:22
Alana Husby is the co-founder (with her sister Nicole) of Haida Gwaii Glamping Co., a distinctive luxury camping retreat set on 6.2 acres near Tlell, on Graham Island in Haida Gwaii. This immersive “roughing it… optional” destination blends indigenous heritage, eco-conscious design, and heartfelt hospitality .
Unique Glamping Experience
• The property features 10 spacious cedar‑pole prospector tents—each over 300 sq ft—with private ensuites (toilet, sink, shower), queen or double beds, cozy bamboo linens, and mosquito netting . Four tents are on the beach, six in rainforest settings, all with 120 sq ft decks to connect you to nature .
• Alana infused the design with ideas from her globe‑trotting observations—Maui‑style BBQ areas, driftwood chairs reminiscent of the South of France, and nightly s’mores à la her stepmother’s recipe .
Hospitality & Amenities
• Each morning offers a simple continental breakfast plus a mini smoothie station, set in the spectacular 860 sq ft geodesic “social dome” .
• Cooking is communal and fun—there’s a full kitchen, BBQ deck with pizza oven, crab pots, an herb garden for fresh mint, and all necessary utensils .
• Additional luxuries include a cedar hot tub, barrel sauna, ice bath, kayaks, paddleboards, beach fires, axe‑throwing, and family‑friendly features like toys, board games, and pet‑friendly policies .
Guest Experience & Cultural Connection
• In guests’ words:
“A piece of paradise!” – Keith (Tripadvisor), praising the owners’ passion, homestyle touches, cedar hot tub, and beach fire pits .
“The tents are spacious… attention to detail… bamboo sheets.” – Morie F. highlights herb garden surprises and friendly staff like Amy .
• A travel feature described drifting to the communal dome’s deck with Alana herself—“a wonderful host and a spectacular storyteller” .
Roots & Vision
• Born and raised in Haida Gwaii and honorarily adopted into the Raven Wolf Clan of the Haida Nation, Alana’s goal was to create something that would keep her home during the busy summer tourist season .
• The glamping resort showcases a deep respect for the land and indigenous culture, providing guests both comfort and meaningful connection to the place.
⸻
In her work at Haida Gwaii Glamping Co., Alana translates her entrepreneurial spirit and cultural authenticity into an understated yet elegant form of hospitality. Guests leave not just rested, but also enriched by true connection—to community, nature, and the spirit of Haida Gwaii.
The Haida Gwaii Glamping Co launched July 1, 2019.

Good Vibes, Good Energy, Good Medicine
Season 4 · Episode 32
mardi 25 mars 2025 • Duration 01:08:31
A beautiful conversation with Ashley Pimlott. Good vibes, good energy, and good medicine to share with the world.
Ashley's Story
"Planting seeds of happiness in hopes to BE the change I wish to see."
I am a nature-based, energy practitioner in my beautiful hometown of Terrace, BC.
I love adventuring outdoors with my family, basking in the glory of our bountiful Pacific Northwest- hiking, kayaking, fishing, cleaning up the earth, foraging, learning new things, healing, and sharing art of all kinds.
As a child, I was overwhelmed by a powerful connection to the world around me. Today, I have learned to harness that intuition, with the collaboration of modern science, to achieve things I used to deem impossible.
I currently have my Basic, Advanced, and Digging Deeper certifications in ThetaDNAHealing, Usui Ryoho Reiki level 2 certification, Aboriginal Doula and Perinatal Substance Use Certifications, and “Intro to Natural Health and Healing” through CMC. I am currently working towards my Master/Teacher Reiki certificate. I have completed Shielding, Fortifying and Sharing Energy with the Anutarra Ashram, and am currently working through their 200h Yoga Teacher Training. (Some of my other certifications include Beginners Photography, Office Admin, WHIMIS, First Aid, Serving-it-right, Wildlife Monitor, and yearly Umpire certifications.)
I offer holistic services such as ThetaDNAHealing, Beginner Eco-Adventure Tourism Excusions, Earthing, Sacred Smudgning, Guided Meditations, Sound Baths, Art Therapy, and Aromatherapy. (Other venture’s services include Kayak Rentals, Showshoe Rentals, Dog Walks, Boarding, Photography, Estate Management, Umpiring, and Event Planning.)
I have hosted events like community Garb-a-thons, art therapy classes, the 2022 Witches Paddle, fundraisers, and the FREE 2023 Full Moon Ceremony, among others.
Hometown Holistics is a safe, judgement-free space to foster healthy relationships, peace, harmony, and a powerful connection to a universal energy.
Remember, ever great dream begins with a dreamer.

Importance of Choosing Soul Aligned Retreat Facilitators and Magical Venues
Season 4 · Episode 31
mercredi 19 mars 2025 • Duration 42:32
The Importance of Choosing the Right Facilitators for Your Retreats ✨
As a retreat host, the facilitators you bring into your space are a direct reflection of the energy, intention, and transformation you wish to offer. The right facilitators enhance the retreat experience, creating an environment where guests feel truly supported, aligned, and empowered on their journey.
Choosing facilitators who align with your vision, values, and energy is essential to ensuring that your retreat flows with harmony, integrity, and purpose.
Why the Right Facilitators Matter🌱 1. They Shape the Retreat’s Energy & Experience
✔ Every facilitator brings their own unique energy, approach, and presence.
✔ A misaligned facilitator can create disconnect or disharmony within the group.
✔ When in alignment, facilitators amplify healing, growth, and transformation.
✔ Guests are often vulnerable and open during a retreat.
✔ A skilled facilitator ensures a safe, nurturing, and judgment-free environment.
✔ The right facilitators know how to navigate emotions, energy shifts, and group dynamics.
✔ Their beliefs, methods, and presence should align with your retreat’s purpose.
✔ A shared vision fosters cohesion and a deeper impact on participants.
✔ They should genuinely care about the transformation and well-being of attendees.
✔ Aligned facilitators work together effortlessly, creating a natural rhythm.
✔ Their offerings complement rather than compete with each other.
✔ When everyone is in sync, the retreat feels organic, balanced, and deeply supportive.
✔ The best facilitators are those who walk the path they teach.
✔ They approach their work with humility, compassion, and deep presence.
✔ Participants feel when a facilitator is truly heart-led and aligned.
🌀 2. They Hold Space for Deep Healing & Trust
🔥 3. They Embody the Retreat’s Mission & Values
🎶 4. They Enhance the Flow & Harmony of the Retreat
🌊 5. They Bring Authenticity, Wisdom & IntegrityHow to Choose the Right Facilitators for Your Retreat
💖 Trust Your Intuition – Energy never lies. If something feels off, it likely is.
🌿 Look for Alignment – Do their methods, philosophy, and approach complement your retreat’s mission?
🎶 Observe Their Energy – Do they hold space with kindness, respect, and authenticity?
🌀 Ensure They Are Experienced – Can they navigate challenges, emotions, and group dynamics?
🔥 Ask for a Trial Collaboration – Before committing, try co-hosting a small event or workshop.
🌞 Check Their Intentions – Are they here to serve, heal, and uplift—or just for personal gain?
✨ Seek Heart-Led, Grounded Practitioners – The best facilitators operate from love, integrity, and true wisdom.
A retreat is more than just a collection of workshops—it is a sacred journey of transformation. The facilitators you choose should reflect the energy, wisdom, and care you wish to offer.
By curating a team that is aligned, intuitive, and heart-centered, you create a retreat that feels deeply nourishing, flows effortlessly, and leaves a lasting impact on all who attend. 🌿✨

Seeker of the Wild and Untamed
Season 4 · Episode 30
jeudi 13 mars 2025 • Duration 36:27
A beautiful conversation with Photographer Hailey Krakana from Victoria BC.
A little about the wonderful Hailey:
My visual artist mother placed a camera in my hand as early as I can remember. The rugged wilderness and wildlife around our home in rural British Columbia ignited my passion for photography and instilled in me a deep respect for nature in all its grit & grace.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honours from The University of Victoria, with a focus on literature, history, and artistic movements throughout time.
Inspired by rainy afternoons listening to crackling records, road trip sunsets, chasing wild horses, smoky old cabins and vintage film, I approach each shoot with my unique aesthetic. I have trained my eye by studying the greats.
My photography skills range from portraiture, elopements & intimate weddings, artist promos & album artwork, to creative lifestyle and branding shoots for individuals and small businesses. I believe in community connection and the importance of authenticity.
I also enjoy rodeo, wildlife photography and documenting forgotten places as a backroad historian.
If you like my eye and would like to inquire about a shoot, please reach out on the contact form below. I look forward to creating beautiful photos with you.
