This is Part 3 of my 5-Part Clean Rest Series. In the previous episode of my clean rest series, I talked about how working from a to-do list makes it hard to get clean rest.

Where does clean rest go in your calendar and how much of it do you need?

And how do you rest when you’ve planned, so you honour your rest?

I answer these questions and give you practical advice in today’s episode. If you’re wondering how to plan out your clean rest properly each week, listen in.

Ep 437: Changing Your Relationship With Instagram Marketing24 Dec 202300:35:00

It’s incredibly common for perfectionist entrepreneurs to struggle with showing up consistently - especially when it involves putting yourself and your ideas out into the world. To help, I’m sharing a snippet of a PGSD coaching call where I coached PGSDer Rachel on how to easily create consistent content.

Every week inside Perfectionists Getting Shit Done there is a group coaching call where you can and watch other PGSDers get in depth coaching on the same planning, productivity and persistence problems that have been making you get in your own way in your business. And you’ll have the opportunity to get coached too!

The weekly group coaching calls give you the opportunity to get the support you need to get out of your own way so you don’t stay stuck or fall off the wagon. In this PGSD coaching all Rachel shared “my biggest struggle with Instagram and social media is there’s often zero feedback and it’s harder to get in a growth mindset and practise when you put something out there and hear crickets. I also have a belief that Instagram controls everything and my control over the result is minimal.”

Thank you Rachel for giving me permission to share this call on the podcast.

Ep 434: Your First Six Weeks Of Power Planning with Erin, Naomi and Estelle (best of the podcast)10 Dec 202301:16:02

Erin, Naomi and Estelle signed up for PGSD in January 2022. They knew that they needed to get out of their own way in their businesses. And they knew that planning properly as a perfectionist was the first step…

Erin is a copywriter who was spending an embarrassing amount (those are her words!) on courses, coaches and marketing advice only to self-sabotage when it came time to pitch herself.

Naomi is a website designer and developer who was creating vague goals and plans (and endless to-do lists) to take her business full-time.

Estelle is a fashion designer whose perfectionism handbrake was stopping her from following her launch plan and telling people about her designs.

They all made the Three Month Commitment to Power Planning, set their Growth Goals and started planning properly. And what happened next was a little different for each of them…

So I invited them on the podcast to talk about what to expect in your first 6 weeks of Power Planning.

This episode is going to normalise what often happens when you start Power Planning so that you never mistakenly think you’re off track.

Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode434.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • The hidden planning mistakes that Erin, Naomi and Estelle were making before PGSD

  • How they knew it was the right time to sign up for PGSD

  • How Power Planning helps you to be a more present parent

  • What to expect in your first six weeks of Power Planning (what’s normal and what isn’t)

  • The difference between time blocking and Power Planning

  • How to keep Power Planning when a big life event comes up (like surgery)

  • Exactly how Power Planning helps you figure out your needle movers

  • Why it’s ok if your Power Hour takes more than 60 minutes

Ep 433: Why I’ve Always Struggled To Post Consistently On Instagram03 Dec 202300:59:57

In this episode I’m sharing why I’ve always struggled to post consistently on instagram. What I want to share with you in this episode is some of the really specific and practical things I uncovered recently in my own self-coaching about why this is something I’ve struggled with since 2014.

We perfectionists like to think if we just have more time or the perfect content calendar or a bigger audience then it’ll be easy to be consistent. But that’s simply not the case and what I share in this episode really illustrates what *really* causes us to get in our own way with social media.

I’m also going to share the real reason why it’s so easy for me to be consistent with this podcast and the perfectionism that I’m continuing to work on even though it’s very successful.

This episode is also going to give you a permission slip to trust yourself to build your business in the way you *actually* want. And an illustration of why showing up consistently doesn’t mean being perfect.

If you’ve been struggling to post consistently to social media, no matter what you do, this episode is for you.

Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode433.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • Why you don’t have to completely overcome perfectionism to be successful

  • How I’ve been able to build a 7 figure business without showing up perfectly

  • The real reasons it’s so easy for me to publish consistently on the podcast

  • Why I’ve always struggle to post consistently on instagram

  • The importance of being in a growth mindset versus the fixed mindset

Ep 432: The Hidden Connection Between Self-Image + Self-Sabotage30 Nov 202300:42:30

If you want to consistently follow through with your plans without having to use willpower or motivation - or end up burning out - you need to learn how to upgrade your self-image. Your self-image is the story you tell yourself about yourself and it’s one of the most powerful forces in human psychology.

Upgrading your self-image is what will prevent you from sabotaging your productivity and stopping yourself from achieving your goals. This is why it’s one of the tools that me and my clients use as part of my proven process to be a productive perfectionist.

In this episode I’m uncovering the hidden connection between self-image and self-sabotage. I’m also sharing lots of practical, real life examples so you can understand where your self-image is causing you to get in your own way and how to start changing it.

I’m also sharing more about why self-image is something that my clients work on in quarter 3 of my 12 month program, Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. And what 2024 will be like if you sign up for the January 2024 cohort when enrollment happens from 8-12 December.

Ep 430: How To Stop Procrastinating On Getting Started19 Nov 202300:45:09

I’ve worked with 1,000+ perfectionist entrepreneurs and something we all have in common is that we procrastinate. We’d rather not do something at all than do it imperfectly. And this is a big problem when it comes to business! More often than not, there’s no external deadline to force us into action so we can end up procrastinating on important projects for months if not years.

In this episode I’m sharing advice to help you stop putting off that project you’ve been wanting to start - whether it’s starting a podcast or a Youtube channel or launching a new product or service. Tune in to learn how to finally get yourself moving yourself forward, even if you don’t feel perfectly inspired or motivated to do it.

Ep 525: 5 Reasons Clean Rest Is Hard When You're Working From A To-Do List [Part 2: Clean Rest Series]29 Mar 202500:48:43

This is Part 2 of my 5-Part Clean Rest Series. We perfectionists LOVE a good to-do list…

But working from a to-do list makes it really challenging to get enough clean rest - even if you’re making a real effort to have more work-life balance.

And I share the five reasons why - and helpful examples for each reason - in this second episode of my clean rest series. I also talk about why there’s never any time for rest and why you feel behind when you work from a to-do list.

If you only get a break from your business when you’re busy recovering from burnout, this clean rest series - and today’s episode in particular - is going to be insanely helpful.

Ep 427: The Power of Keeping Your Launch Painfully Simple (Part 2: Launch Debrief)29 Oct 202301:07:24

In this episode I’m sharing a behind the scenes look at the most recent launch of my program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD). This is the second part in a two part series that will help normalise the ups and downs of launching (regardless of what kind of business you have) and show you how to get out of your own way when you’re selling.

In this episode I talk about what painful simplicity is, why it matters and how to create it. I also talk about what our painfully simple launch looked like in practice and what I was able to learn about the business - and myself - because we kept everything painfully simple.

I also share something uncomfortable that I learned about myself and how to spot whether you have the same mindset issue that I did. If you feel behind, this is something you’re going to be able to relate to.

Plus I share all of the numbers (like our sign up numbers, revenue and whether we hit our goal) and behind the scenes insights so you can get out of your own way. Because releasing your perfectionism handbrake is essential when it comes to building your business, whether you have a coaching business like me or not.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • Whether we achieved our revenue goal for this launch

  • My biggest takeaway from the launch and how you can apply it to your business

  • The hidden mindset issue that I didn’t see until the launch was over

  • Updates I’m making to my content creation strategy based on this launch

Ep 425: Why Lowering Your Goals Isn’t The Answer08 Oct 202300:45:31

As a perfectionist it’s hard to imagine a world where you’re successful without having put a huge amount of pressure on yourself too. We attribute our drive and accomplishments to the way we urge ourselves to do more and do better. Which begs the question - how do you stop putting pressure on yourself without giving up on your goals? And that’s what I’m answering in this episode.

I’m also sharing a personal recording that I never planned to release on this podcast. It was recorded in October 2021 when I was feeling suffocated by the pressure and expectations I was putting on myself. I hope that by me sharing it it reminds you that we all go through ups and downs. And that you’re not failing, you’re feeling.

Ep 424: For When You Feel Behind01 Oct 202300:24:39

If you’re anything like me, you love personal development and being productive. The downside of this - when it’s coupled with perfectionism - is that if you don’t feel like you’re growing and you notice yourself getting in your own way then it’s easy to feel behind.

Ep 423: [Realistic Day In My Life] How I Recover From Mistakes + The Two Kinds of Self-Coaching24 Sep 202301:02:44

I thought I’d record a ‘day in the life’ episode to share a behind the scenes about what a work day looks like for me. This episode has two parts - I recorded the first while I was driving into work and chatted through the meetings I have scheduled, what I hope to get done, what the structure of my day looks like etc. And then I recorded the second part while I was driving home from work so I could share what actually happened (including a big mistake I made and how I recovered from it).

This episode was recorded a couple of weeks before our most recent launch of PGSD. It’s a chatty episode for sure and one that’s going to remind you that we’re all just figuring this out as you go. And I don’t know about you, but most of the time I don’t need more information - I just need a reminder that I’m on the right path and if I keep showing up things will work out. So if you need some of that in your life, definitely tune into this episode ASAP.

Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode423.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • What a realistic day in my life looks like

  • How I recover from mistakes and avoid a shame spiral

  • How I do self-coaching so I actually self-coach on the most important things

Ep 420: Using Power Planning To Hit Six Figures with Natalie Koons09 Sep 202301:01:47

Natalie’s experience in PGSD is a great example of how learning to plan properly as a perfectionist can completely transform your whole life.

Natalie explains…

“Before PGSD I was chaos. I worked CONSTANTLY but I wasn’t getting any of the important stuff done. From the first week I started in PGSD, I knew it was going to change my life - and it absolutely has in the most positive way and it's rippled into my personal life too”

On 11 January 2022, Natalie signed up for PGSD. With the help of PGSD coaching and power planning, Natalie was able to quickly launch her course - which she’d been putting off doing for MONTHS.

On 3 March 2022, Natalie posted in the PGSD Forum to say that she had 125 people sign up for her sock knitting course and made over $34,000.

She hit her first quarterly milestone for her Growth Goal three times over! A milestone that had felt impossible only a few weeks earlier.

8 months into PGSD Natalie had already doubled her previous year's income (2021 income was $59,000 and 2022 income is $125,000 and still growing).

Natalie’s business has only continued to grow now that she’s planning properly as a perfectionist.

And in Natalie’s words: “I know exactly what I need to do. I have taken the time to plan ahead. I am working through things every single day. I used to go to bed with an anxious feeling and I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning…

PGSD has totally eliminated that for me. It’s allowed me to feel the fear and the big things that are scary and say “I can do this.

I now have support from the PGSD group and Forum and the coaching calls. It's helped me to get up every day and actually be excited to go to work.

I’ve already seen big changes happen in my business. I've been able to be a better business owner and I've been able to help more people because of PGSD.”

Recently, I asked Natalie what were the 1-3 milestones that she achieved in her business with the help of PGSD.

Natalie replied with:

  1. I doubled my previous year's income in the first 8 months of the year.

  2. I stopped working on weekends and at night.

  3. My husband and I were able to extend our dream of living in NYC from 1 year to 2 years because of the money I am making.

Ep 524: An Introduction to Clean Rest + Why It's Essential For Perfectionists [Part 1: Clean Rest Series]27 Mar 202500:51:50

This is Part 1 of my 5-Part Clean Rest Series. If you’re sick of being behind in your business (even though you’re doing ALL the things), this episode is for you.

I explain what clean rest is (i.e. resting without guilt) and why it’s essential for perfectionists.

It may not feel like it, but clean rest will help you work better and build a better business (with less overwhelm, less procrastination and less burnout).

You’ll have plenty of clean rest scheduled in your calendar when you’re planning properly as a perfectionist.

All that clean rest won’t be scary because you’ll be so clear on what’s important vs what isn’t, when you work best and how to keep your plans workable so you never fall behind. You’ll be able to ENJOY your time off.

It’s time to start planning properly as a perfectionist - and that includes getting the clean rest you need. And anyone can learn how…

Ep 418: [PLANNING SERIES] The 3 Month Commitment + Why It Matters07 Sep 202300:23:13

Power Planning will get you out of your own way in your business and have you doing the deep perfectionism work you need to do - all while you’re doing more of what matters than ever before (in less time and with less overthinking). But it won’t work for you if you give up on it prematurely.

The habit of giving up too soon is one of the main reasons you’re not where you want to be in your business. Most perfectionists want overnight, struggle-free, push-of-a-button success and we quit when we don’t get it. We feel disheartened, discouraged and inadequate - when really, we just hadn’t tried for long enough.

Making the Three Month Commitment to Power Planning matters. You won’t feel like it’s working after a week or two - and that’s the whole point…

The closer we are to being in the growth mindset, the easier it is to get out of our own way in your business - no hustling, willpower or ‘pushing through’ required. The very act of Power Planning will coax you out of your perfectionism. And the fact that Power Planning won’t ‘work’ instantly is what allows this to happen.

The Three Month Commitment might just be the missing ingredient in your business. And I share how it works (and what not to do) in today’s episode…

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • How I discovered the power of the Three Month Commitment

  • Why the Three Month Commitment makes it easier to get out of your own way

  • What making the Three Month Commitment does NOT mean

  • How not to be all-or-nothing about your Three Month Commitment

Ep 417: [PLANNING SERIES] How To Plan Amidst Uncertainty05 Sep 202300:28:23

Most perfectionists find it challenging to plan out their week when they don’t know what will come up or how much energy they’ll have. Whether you’re working an exhausting day job, doing shift work or raising young children alongside building your business - there are certain things that can feel hard to plan around. Especially when no one has taught you how to plan properly…

Some perfectionists plan their week as if everything will go smoothly, hoping for the best and then abandoning their plans when the inevitable happens. Others feel like they can’t make plans at all and wing it day by day, praying they’ll be able to find the motivation to do what matters most. But neither of these approaches work.

If your weeks feel too uncertain but you would like to be able to plan in a way that allows you to follow through consistently and sustainably, then this episode is for you!

You’ll hear how I use my Power Planning to get out of my own way and get shit done in my business, even though I have a lot of uncertainty - being a parent of three kids under the age of three (including twins).

In this episode, I dive deep into the practical things I do to make Power Planning work for me when life is throwing constant curveballs.

Ep 416: [PLANNING SERIES] A Step-By-Step Walkthrough of Power Planning03 Sep 202300:27:49

Power Planning covers everything perfectionists must do to plan properly. It’s a simple 3 step process that anyone can learn. And I walk you through it in this episode.

Here’s a brief overview of how Power Planning works but be sure to tune into this episode to get all the details!

Step 1. Power Hour - in your weekly Power Hour you’ll put your needle moving tasks in your digital calendar and create simple contingency plans that make it easy to get everything done without feeling overwhelmed.

Step 2. Little Tweaks - every day you’ll spend a little bit of time tweaking your calendar so you can get everything done without ever feeling behind or burning out, even if something unexpected comes up.

Step 3. Weekly Review - at the end of the week you’ll do a brief weekly review to discover what worked, what didn’t work and what to do differently so next week’s plans are even easier to follow through on.

Power Planning helps you avoid the planning mistakes that stop perfectionists from following through with their plans.

After listening to this episode, you’ll know how to make the kind of plans that get you out of your own way - even when you’re scared to put yourself out there.

Ep 415: [PLANNING SERIES] Procrasti-Planning Versus Planning Properly01 Sep 202300:23:14

Perfectionists get in their own way when they follow the same planning advice as everyone else. That’s why I’ve recorded a 5-part planning series for the podcast that’ll help you plan properly as a perfectionist.

This planning series is for perfectionists who write and rewrite long to-do lists of business tasks they never start, fall behind because they underestimate how long things will take and have notebooks full of ideas they haven’t done anything with.

This episode (part 1 of the Planning Series) is all about the differences between procrasti-planning and planning properly as a perfectionist. This will help you understand where you’ve been going wrong with planning so you can do something about it.

In this episode, I also dissect common pieces of planning advice (from the top-ranked planning article on Google) and explain why this advice doesn’t work for perfectionists. The episode is worth listening to for this alone.

Ep 414: 5 Signs You're Scared of Success27 Aug 202300:57:01

Fearing success is actually way more common than you’d think. And that’s kinda crazy, right?

Even though we’re consciously working towards it, we unconsciously stop ourselves from getting it. It’s no wonder we can feel so stuck.

Fear of success means that you are scared that you’ll actually be able to accomplish the things you’ve been thinking about… and that feels so uncertain and unfamiliar that you hold yourself back.

At every level of your business, you can experience this fear of success.

I’m at the level of success I’m at now and I’m still experiencing this. I have to get myself to a new self-image where I’m able to create more success and feel safe in that success.

In this podcast episode, I share why we experience fear of success and my personal struggles with it. I also talk about 5 of the signs that you’re scared of success and what to do about it.

Fear of success might actually be the thing that’s stopping you from taking those next steps in your business. Listen to this episode now.

Ep 413: How I Get Myself Back On Track When I’m Overwhelmed [Real Time Personal Update]20 Aug 202300:50:38

Have you ever been busy re-writting something you’ve already written? Do you feel like you have you fallen behind with things and feel like you’re off track?

This is exactly what was happening for me at the time I recorded this episode.

What I share in this episode is exactly what I would say to my coach or if I were to call Renae and talk it out with her. But instead I decided to pull out my podcast microphone…

I was in the thick of feeling overwhelmed and overworking. I found myself re-working the scripts for the 5-Part Planning Series over and over again.

And that’s a sign to me that I’m getting in my own way and I’m off track. I felt the pressure feeling like I just need to do it “right”, I felt rushed and impatient. In this energy I know pushing through these feelings wasn’t going to work.

Tune in to hear the discussions I have with myself to so that I can get out of my own way and back on track with recording the 5-Part Planning Series.

I hope that this episode helps you when you are in one of these moments to not add a layer of shame... It’s so easy for us to have thoughts like “I shouldn’t be getting in my own way because I know better than this.”

I’m sure we’d love to always be on top of our work, knowing everything is moving in the right direction. But…

Of course we are going to get in our own way and of course we are going to get off track - no matter how smart we are. This is apart of being human.

So don’t make yourself wrong, don’t feel ashamed for it.

I want to invite you into the possibility that it’s normal for this to happen and nothing has gone wrong it’s just a matter of calmly getting yourself back on track.

Tune into this episode to hear how I work through getting myself out of my own way and back on track.

Ep 409: The Practical Steps To Get Out Of A Business Slump And How To Power Plan With A Full-Time Job23 Jul 202300:49:26

We all have blindspots that we would never think to bring up to our 1:1 coach. But when we listen to others being coached, we can uncover hidden areas of our perfectionism and productivity that  might have otherwise gone unnoticed, until it’s too late. In this episode you’ll hear Sam coach two PGSDer’s.

First Sam coaches Shoipei who’s was in a dip at the time of this coaching call. We all go through dips and slumps in our business, it’s apart of the journey. It can be so easy to say “get comfortable with being uncomfortable” but when you’re actually in the dip it’s much harder to see it from an intellectual perspective. The dips can serve as one of the best teachers to help us let go of the self-judgment and shame that we carry within ourselves.

You’ll be able to consider how you can structure your week as Sam coaches Samara. A lot of us are in a situation that is good and we are wanting to elevate to a new level. This actually takes a lot of courage to leave a good situation to create a great one.

It’s easy to justify going from a horrible situation to a good one because no one wants to be in a horrible situation. The growth goal allows us to have a catalyst for change without needing to put ourselves in a desperate situation where it feels like we have our back against the wall in order to achieve. Tune in now to also hear Sam explain how to set your Growth Goal at the best level for you.

Ep 408: My Growth Goal Quarterly Review For Quarter 2 2023 ($80,914 Revenue)16 Jul 202300:57:10

It's uncommon to hear detailed information about the breakdown of expenses in businesses. I hope by me openly sharing the numbers and providing insight into my business on a quarterly basis, it helps you to be growth minded and to not have your perfectionism handbrake on.

And it’s especially uncommon to hear a detailed breakdown when the quarter didn’t go to plan. We made $80,914 in revenue but after expenses we actually had a significant loss in Q2, 2023.

It’s so easy to interpret things that happen in our business in a way that makes us feel inadequate or incompetent. We can be in a habit of dismissing what is working and complicate things so that we can feel busy and deserving.

I’m excited for you to listen to this episode because you’ll hear how I interpreted Q2’s financial loss without attaching any negative meaning to it and making it mean anything about myself and my abilities.

I've made significant progress with my perfectionism so I'm wanting to share these insights with you incase you've been feeling behind, thinking you should have everything figured out by now and always be succeeding.

Our brains can convince us that the best way to create success is to put pressure on ourselves. Personally, I used to believe that if I didn't put pressure on myself, I would be settling for less than what I’m capable of achieving.

However, the pain I experienced during my last launch of Q2 made me realise the detrimental effects of putting pressure on myself. In hindsight I can see that I was spending too much time doing things that essentially was busy work and sacrificed valuable time with my family. This has caused me to look at whats going on and notice where my mind was at so that I can make the changes in order to feel how I want to in my day to day life and create the kind of business I want.

In hindsight, how much pressure have you been putting on yourself?

By listening to this episode, you'll gain valuable insights into reframing your mindset and approaching challenging situations with resilience and self-compassion. It's an opportunity to shift your perspective and embrace a growth mindset, regardless of external circumstances.

I hope by hearing me sharing the numbers, how I’m interpreting them, why it’s not a problem that we had a loss this quarter and why it doesn’t mean anything about me it can help release any weight you might have had on your shoulders.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • How I interpret and handle financial losses in my business

  • How putting pressure on myself had a ripple effect on the decisions I made and the end outcome financially of our Q2 results.

  • How my self-image shapes my commitment to my growth goal, even when things don’t go to plan

  • How to choose what energy you want to work from

  • What to do when you feel like you should be further along

  • The new approach I'm taking to build my business without unnecessary pressure

Ep 407: 3 Unexpected Reasons My Latest Launch Completely Failed (PGSD Launch Debrief)09 Jul 202301:33:57

The entrepreneurship space can be so glamorised, we hear alot about people doubling their business year after year and that can leave us feeling behind if we aren’t experiencing that trajectory of growth.

I enjoy being very open and sharing what most people aren’t willing to share and this episode is no different. I take you behind the scenes of our most recent launch sharing the 3 unexpected reasons why this launch completely failed and all of the launch numbers.

Regardless of the type of business you have, this episode is relevant for you because at some point, no matter what guidance you're receiving, if you're putting yourself out there and trying new things, you will face failure.

It's important to know how to approach failure and be emotionally regulated in those moments so that you don't make the failure mean something about you and then repeat the same mistakes because you were too ashamed to actually take a look objectively at what went on, in a really compassionate way.

Failure doesn't make you a failure. It doesn't mean you don't know how to run a business. Look at all the big startups – they often don't break even for years. Even though we intellectually understand this, if your launches feel like a rollercoaster, you might be attaching your self-worth to the outcomes.

I love hearing podcasts like this because it's the real stuff and everyone goes through it so I hope you enjoy listening to the episode!

There are a lot of things we can do to help us follow through with our plans consistently. I share many of them on this podcast! Ep 405: How To Cure Your Addiction To Feeling Behind (best of the podcast)25 Jun 202300:40:52

While perfectionists want everything in their lives to be perfectly organised, the irony is that they actually stop themselves from creating this reality - without even realising it! And one of the reasons they do this is because of their secret addiction to feeling behind.

Most perfectionists would swear that they don’t want to feel behind, so it can be confronting to realise that you might be manufacturing behindness (if that’s a word!) in your life. In this episode I’m talking about why we do this, 2 signs that you’re secretly addicted to chaos and what to do about it.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • Why perfectionists can become addicted to feeling behind

  • The sneaky ways perfectionists make themselves feel more behind

  • The real reason you never feel completely organised

  • How feeling behind is secretly serving you

  • Two ways that the addiction to feeling behind manifests for perfectionists

Ep 404: Perfectionism, Power Planning + PGSD with Kristen Cain (best of the podcast)17 Jun 202301:03:30

In this episode I’m interviewing Kristen Cain, a style coach and committed PGSDer, on all things perfectionism and Power Planning.

Kristen heard me talking about PGSD on this podcast for an entire year before she signed up.

Kristen listened diligently to every episode, worked hard to apply what she learned to her business and started to make progress with her perfectionism handbrake.

If anyone was going to change their life with the help of the podcast, it was Kristen.

During that year as a podcast listener she rebranded her business, created a new website, started offering mini styling packages and began showing up on instagram more often (though she still ghosted her followers from time to time).

But in Kristen’s words, she was in a familiar place for perfectionists: “I was doing all the pretty, fun things so that I didn’t have to do the scary stuff that would actually help me be successful”.

Here’s what happened once she joined…

Within 3 months of being inside PGSD, Kristen was planning properly as a perfectionist:

✔ Kristen had a clear goal that gave her direction, clarity and focus

✔ She created pricing that she felt confident in AND got her styling clients better results

✔ She started signing styling clients with her new packages and pricing

✔ And she made her investment back

Within 6 months of being inside PGSD, Kristen was having her most successful year in business (ever).

She was consistently uploading videos to her YouTube channel every week, sending her weekly newsletter without fail, confidently promoting her services and was even approached by a random person at the grocery store who’d been loving her IG lives.

And 1 year after joining PGSD, Kristen is signing $2,000 styling clients directly from her YouTube videos.

This is something she never thought would be possible for her.

This kind of growth is possible for you to…

To build your business to $100k you need to get out of your own way. And anyone can learn how inside PGSD.

If you resonate with what Kristen and I talk about in this episode - and what I talk about on this podcast - and you’re ready to get out of your own way then I invite you to join us inside PGSD.

Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode404.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • What ‘getting in your own way’ looked like for Kristen

  • The reason Kristen signed up for PGSD even though she ‘couldn’t afford it’

  • Where perfectionism work fits in when it comes to building your business

  • Why Kristen felt overwhelmed when she first started Power Planning

  • The difference between listening to this podcast and being in PGSD

Ep 403: Why All Perfectionists Need A Growth Goal + The PGSD Experience with Jenn Baswick15 Jun 202301:13:54

In today’s episode, I interview PGSDer Jenn Baswick all about her Growth Goal and experience inside PGSD.

Our most successful PGSDers are business owners who LOVE being productive and yet find themselves struggling to make the most of their time due to their perfectionism handbrake.

And this was definitely the case for Jenn.

Jenn is a registered dietitian and before she signed up for PGSD in December 2022, she’d tried everything she could to build her business.

She invested in business programs to help her setup her business correctly and market it the right way plus she tried every productivity tool from to-do lists to time blocking to Asana to Notion.

And yet her business still wasn’t growing in the way she knew it could…

Even though Jenn ‘knew’ what she needed to do, she wasn’t able to turn her knowledge into business growth - even though she was always busy working.

In today’s episode of The Perfectionism Project, you’ll hear from Jenn and I discuss…

✔ The hidden reason why to-do lists, time blocking, asana and notion didn’t work for Jenn

✔ All the ways releasing her perfectionism handbrake has made Jenn more productive

✔ When Jenn realised that releasing her perfectionism handbrake was a must for her business

Jenn also shares how PGSD helped her make double her revenue goal - all while navigating the transition from offering 1:1 services to a group program.

P.S. I know how scary it can feel to set a Growth Goal and go all-in on your business. 2018 was the year I got sick of getting in my own way and decided I needed to either go all-in or quit (and I was never going to quit). So I want you to know that inside PGSD you will be fully supported in setting your Growth Goal and showing up consistently for your business without burning out.

Ep 400: [PERFECTIONISM SERIES] Part 1 - The Surprising Truth About Perfectionism + How It's Making You Get In Your Own Way12 Jun 202300:33:27

This episode is part 1 in a 3-part series on perfectionism.

Perfectionism makes even the smartest entrepreneurs get in their own way. That’s why I’m releasing a three part series all about perfectionism - including the surprising truth that every business owner needs to know and the exact steps to follow to take control of your productivity.

There are so many misconceptions about perfectionism that I didn’t even know I was a perfectionist when I first started my business! I thought that motivation problems, imposter syndrome and fear of judgement were to blame for the fact that I struggled to consistently promote my business and couldn’t get myself to consistent $10k months - even though I knew A LOT about how to build a successful business from all of the online learning I’d done.

I slowly began piecing together that I was a perfectionist and that’s why I kept overthinking, procrastinating and burning myself out. It was also the main reason that I struggled to be consistent with my content creation and held myself back due to fear of judgement.

After thousands of hours spent studying productivity systems, learning how the mind works and understanding the secrets of success, I was able to put together the missing pieces I needed. And I was able to grow my business to $100k per year and then $100k months and beyond.

I’m sharing everything you need to know about perfectionism and productivity in this 3-part podcast series so you can break free of your business plateau and celebrate your first six figure year - without burning yourself out!

And it’s all to celebrate the fact that my group coaching program for perfectionist entrepreneurs, called Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) is officially open for enrollment. But only for this week only! The doors are closing at 11:59 New York Time on 18 June so be sure to tune into this series if you’re tired of getting in your own way and ready to take control of your productivity and make the next 12 months your most productive ever.
