Get your prosperity on with Rachel Patterson! Rachel is an English Witch who has been walking the Pagan path for over thirty years.  She has had over 30 books published so far, some of them becoming best sellers.   Her newest book release is: “Prosperity Magic – Spell Working for Abundance, Money, and Prosperity” by Moon Books. She is the host of the Pagan Portal Podcast, Elder at the Kitchen Witch Online School of Witchcraft and High Priestess of the Kitchen Witch Coven. She is a regular columnist with Fate & Fortune magazine and Pagan Dawn. Rachel is an Editor and Publicist at Moon Books.

We chat about Rachel’s early beginnings and how her father always took her to sacred places when she was young like Stonehenge. She was drawn to magical stories and books especially about the Arthurian mysteries, witches and dragons. When she was in her early 20’s Rachel bought a book at a thrift store about the history of English Witchcraft and it really resonated with who she was and that was the beginning of her Witchcraft journey. After 35 plus more years; Rachel says she is still learning. 

Rachel started out reviewing books for Moon Books but then eventually started writing books about Kitchen Witchery in 2012 and now 33 books later Rachel just published her newest release: “Prosperity Magic – Spell Working for Abundance, Money, and Prosperity” by Moon Books. Rachel is a regular columnist with Fate & Fortune magazine in England called “The Witch that Gets You Rich” for 6 years. She thought it would be a good idea to pull all of those articles into a book since they are all about Money/Prosperity magic. This book includes hands- on practical spells that you can use to make your life more prosperous. Abundance comes in many forms, not just money. You can call in love, friends, support, good health, success..anything. There are even spells for cleaning out debt too which is the starting point for allowing the good prosperity to come in.

We jump into the many types of spellwork in Rachel’s book including: candle magic, spell pouches, knot work, color magic, fashion/clothing color, spell jars etc. Any of these spell items can be charged for magic . Rachel’s go to is Candle magic because it brings in color magic and flame which is about transformation.The bottom line is that it has to resonate with you! It is very important to give offerings and having gratitude in money magic spell work. There are checks and balances in any magic.  You can't keep asking deity or the divine to keep showering you with money over and over without giving back! 

We chat about how adding layers to a prosperity spell can boost the magic Lunar phases and certain days of the week can energetically  enhance our prosperity and money spells. If you want to work with the Sun’s energy then  you can do your spell in the morning or if you are releasing debts you could do this at sunset. Adding herbs like chili powder or mustard can boost the energy of the spell to make it work faster. Don’t forget to add a timeline with the wording and intent too. Join me on this episode as I speak with Karen Tate. Karen is a thought leader, speaker, author and activist, who bridges spirituality, personal transformation, culture and social justice. She has been named one of the Thirteen Most Influential Women in Goddess Spirituality and a Wisdom Keeper of the Women's Spirituality Movement.  She is a popular public speaker many public events on the role of the Goddess in history and in modern culture. Karen started the first Goddess tours before they were mainstream and the original and longest running Goddess-oriented radio show /podcast: Voices of the Sacred Feminine. Her several books include Walking an Ancient Path and Goddess Calling.

We begin by chatting about Karen’s early beginnings growing up in the South in New Orleans, Louisiana within a Catholic family. Later her family moved to California, and she discovered feminine faces of the Goddess in ISIS and Sekhmet. Karen became an independent scholar and studied with various Women's Goddess groups such as the Reformed Congregation of the Goddess before following her own interests.

Karen chats about how in the 90’s her and her husband were introducing people to the Goddess through the back door of sacred travel sites. They led sacred tours of the Goddess to places such as Israel, Turkey, Greece, France and England. Karen started writing travel stories which then evolved into her first book called Sacred Places of Goddess. That book kicked off her further books about how to incorporate Goddess Spirituality, spiritual psychology and sacred feminine values into one’s life or community.

Karen's mission is to educate and communicate the ideals and values of the Goddess. Partnership, collaboration, respect, equality and freedom from a dominator culture are part of sacred feminine theology that Karen learned from Riane Eisler’s iconic book: The Chalice and the Blade”. With its key message being that when we value power with rather than power over then that shifts everything. We talk about spiritual or sacred activism and what this means currently and how we can overcome rampant exploitation/abuse and oppression. Karen points out that women need archetypes and role models as many women have internal misogyny because of being damaged patriarchy. We must sit back and rethink what are our values and ethics are and what kind of world we want and then vote for people who support the issues that are important to us.

We chat about Karen’s long running radio show - now podcast, Voices of the Sacred Feminine. H. Byron Ballard, is a Folklorist, Author, Priestess and Teacher. She has served as a featured speaker and teacher at several festivals and conferences, including the Sacred Space Conference, Pagan Spirit Gathering, Starwood, Hexfest and many others. She serves as senior Priestess and co-founder of Mother Grove Goddess Temple and the Coalition of Earth Religions/CERES, both in Asheville, NC. She podcasts about Appalachian folkways on "Wyrd Mountain Gals." Her essays are featured in several anthologies, and she writes a regular column for SageWoman Magazine. Her books include four on mountain folk magic. The first was Staubs and Ditchwater, and the most recent (2025) is A Feral Church: A Guided Journey to Find Magic, Kinship and the Goddess.

Byron  grew up in the country in North Carolina; she only saw the Goddess within the soil, trees, water and wind around her in Appalachia running in the mountains and playing in her family’s small orchard playing with crawdads and salamanders. Outside in nature is where Byron felt the divine most strongly. She  sometimes saw the Goddess as anthropomorphic. Byron never saw the divine in male form. She calls herself an Animist at heart and also a polytheist.

Her grandmother and several cousins had the sight or prophetic dreams and also the ability to interact with spirits- even though their religion was Methodist. These abilities were deeply ingrained in the culture that Byron grew up in. Appalachia’s energy is deeply magical and broad and often manifests in deep spirituality which permeates the culture. It also has some of the oldest mountains in North America and two of the oldest rivers flowing through it in the world. There many different kinds of religion there. The intersection of Indigenous, African Scottish/Irish, Welsh and German cultures contributes to a unique Appalachian spiritual culture.

We chat about Byron’s newest book A Feral Church. She wrote it after the death of Carol Christ and her work was a great inspiration to Byron. She decided it was time to write another Goddess spirituality book. This book takes us Solstice to Solstice on inner and outer journeys to meet spiritual beings and connect with the Mother Goddess. It’s about stepping out of domesticity and accessing your wild essence in our own hearts. We encounter spiritual beings who teach us about aspects of our wild spirits in different parts of the world.

We chat about her role as a Priestess at the Mother Goddess Temple In Asheville NC which is a 501c3 church. She does interfaith work and outreach as well as holding Sabbats celebrating the wheel of the year with her community there. Byron believes that the Goddess is the root and foundation of all of us and from that we do the work that we are called to do in these perilous times. The Goddess is much needed especially for Women. In this episode, I am very delighted to speak with Patricia "Trish" Telesco!
Trish is a passionate Author and fusion cook. She has been a part of the Neo-Pagan community for nearly 40 years. During that time, Trish has written several books including Victorian Grimoire, 365 Goddess, A Kitchen Witch’s Cookbook and her most recent book, Cooking with the Kitchen Witch. Her Wiccan, Witchcraft, & Pagan books provide real and practical information on magick, spells, rituals, Shamanism, animal familiars, Gods & Goddesses, Kitchen Witchery, and Earth-based spirituality. Trish considers herself a Kitchen Witch whose love of folklore flavor every spell and ritual. She believes that your kitchen is a sacred space where you can elevate even the most mundane meal prep into a spiritual ritual. Trish lives in Western New York.

We begin by chatting about Trish’s childhood where she played in fields behind the house growing up and talking to trees as a young Pagan Witchling.  She tells us that her grandmother would get up at 5am to bake amazing fresh picked berry muffins that woke the family up in the morning. There was something in the love of her baking that influenced Patricia. She remembered her mom’s roast beef and the sacred way her mom created it in their family’s kitchen and her dad baking his delicious cookies.

Trish really didn't discover the magic of cooking until she got married and realized she could not cook. And she got a cookbook from her sister and made every single recipe in that cookbook for a year. The more Trish cooked the more she loved cooking and playing with the recipes. It became …FUN. Thats when her Kitchen Witchery journey started brewing!

She wrote a small newsletter for friends and family offering recipes and after contracting a case of adult chicken pox; she had the idea to write her first and very popular Kitchen Witchery cookbook over 30 years ago called: A Kitchen Witch’s Cookbook. She sent the manuscript to Llewellyn books, and they loved it. Her cookbook was published and it set the pace for Kitchen Witchery on the literary market.

Trish has written and published over 50 Witchcraft and Pagan books as well. Trish tells us that writing is who she is. She then took a little time off and after that she wrote a follow up cookbook. We chat about her new book: Cooking with the Kitchen Witch - Magical Recipes from the Hearth and what a Kitchen Witch is.

Staging, presentation, and decorations are also a part of creating kitchen magic and feasts - especially to celebrate the seasons and the Sabbats with your family, friends and community. Trish gives us some ideas on plating or placing food on the plate as it corresponds to the elements to draw in the energies of each direction and culinary astrology.  We begin our conversation unveiling Patti’s early beginnings as a Witch growing up in Long Beach, CA. She said she was communicating with spirits as early as she could talk. She was not raised with any kind of religious belief system but as a teenager she became a spiritual seeker. She then went to a Long Beach WomanSpirit meeting; there she found her magickal tribe. And that was her starting point on her winding path as a Witch. 

Patti was also an actor, dancer and teen model but kept her spirituality separate for many years. In her 30’s she started producing corporate entertainment shows for banks and large companies nationwide. Years later, in 2008 the recession hit, and also Reality TV started growing. Patti tells us that she came out of the broom closet and became the person to call for anything paranormal shows as a witch, psychic or medium and she has not looked back. Her acting training in Hollywood and in media/TV has experience helped her.

We delve into Patti’s newest book “Dollcraft: A Witch’s Guide to Poppet Magick & Haunted Dolls”. Patti saw a need for a guidebook about the acquiring, owning and caring for haunted dolls. She has been a doll collector all her life and some of her dolls she has acquired through her paranormal investigations. Patti talks about Peggi, the very haunted doll that is currently on display atThe Haunted Museum in Las Vegas, NV owned by Zak Bagans from the Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures TV show. Patti tells us some more experiences with evil energies/spirits residing in a doll - especially with her haunted doll: Belle.

 We discover poppets and how to charge them for magickal purposes and empowerment and the difference between a Haunted Doll and a Poppet. Poppets have been used for sympathetic magic through the ages in a variety of cultures. Patti suggests making a poppet for spiritual empowerment, health, love, abundance etc.

We start out by chatting about Nikki’s early spiritual/witchcraft beginnings. Growing up she became aware of voices and spirits in her family’s house. She noticed her psychic abilities would sharpen in her college years every Fall. Nikki started researching The Wheel of the Year and modern-day witchcraft. This was a huge spiritual awakening for her and from then on, she knew she was a witch for life. 

After college, she became a physical therapist and tells us she would not be where she is as an occult teacher had it not been for her studies of healing on a holistic level. Nikki then began studying reiki, yoga, meditation and eventually got her master’s degree in Integrative Health & Healing which then led to her Shamanic certifications and skills that inform her magick and lucid dream practice. She also interned with Robert Moss a well renown shamanic dream teacher.

Lucid dreaming is being fully aware of yourself while you are dreaming and so essentially, you’re conscious within a dream state. Adding magick and cultivating spell work to lucid dreaming is what her newest Dream Sorcery book explores. She gives the reader tools to engage in dream sorcery even if you are not a seasoned magickal practitioner. This book is important for the magical or enchanted community because it’s not written from the viewpoint of western psychiatry. 

Nikki firmly believes that dream sorcery can evolve our spiritual practice, and she hopes that the magickal reader will read her book and explore their own dream world where the rules of physics don’t limit the effect of the endless possibilities and realities. We start out by chatting about Deborah’s Witchcraft beginnings and how she developed her coven the: Blue Moon Circle which has been operating since 2004. Deborah says she thinks she was always a Witch but just didn’t know there was a name for it. She loved herbs, gardening and she had psychic abilities at a young age. As High Priestess of her Blue Moon Circle; Deborah integrated her Witchcraft/Wiccan teaching into her books that she started writing.  Inspired by the Gods, Deborah sent in the manuscript for Circle, Coven & Grove: A Year of Magickal Practice to Llewelyn in 2005 and in 2007 it was published.

Next, we dive into her popular Oracle and Tarot decks: Everyday Witch Tarot and the Everyday Witch’s Familiars Oracle and how she collaborates with the amazing and talented illustrator, Elisabeth Alba. Their successful, collaborative partnership flourishes as they continue to publish more incredible oracle and tarot decks together with Llewelyn Worldwide publishing. Deborah writes and Elisabeth works her magic to complete the visionary and artistic execution of these very popular tarot and oracle decks. Deborah has been a professional tarot reader for over 20 years which contributes to her understanding of tarot card meanings.

The theme of many of Deborah’s books is ‘everyday magic’ and so we talk about how we can connect with our own everyday magic and integrate it into our own daily lives no matter where we live or what our spiritual backgrounds are. Deborah suggests some simple ways such as when you are taking a walk you can notice and connect with nature. Listen to the birds, feel the air on your skin, watch for omens, etc. If you cook, then kitchen witchery is the simplest way to integrate magic into what you are already cooking. Sprinkle in some fresh herbs and add your own intentions to the food you’re cooking. Experiment and have fun and as Deborah says: “There is no wrong way to do it. Whatever works for you is your kind of everyday witchcraft!”

Tiffany Hopkins has has been a year-round resident of Lily Dale, NY since moving into her great-great grandmother’s cottage in 2018. Tiffany gives mediumship readings and works to share the unique experience of living surrounded by people who practice mediumship in Lily Dale through: Normalize Talking to The Dead, a Website, Podcast, and Residency. We start out by chatting about the captivating history of Lily Dale, an intentional Spiritualist community in New York state which has had a rich history of hosting freethinkers, social and political reformists, and mediums since the 1850’s. Originally Lily Dale was a summer camp for Spiritualists. There have been connections with the suffragette movement, labor movement, abolition and alternative religious beliefs with many famous mediums and notable people such as Susan B. Anthony who spoke about women's rights, as regular visitors, and speakers there. Gradually Lily Dale became a year-round live in community for professional mediums. 

We talk about Tiffany’s new book “Beyond: A Living Person’s Guide to the Dead” and how it developed from her research project in mediumship studies.  Tiffany wrote a paper on the process of channeling which she expanded on into step-by-step approach explaining the channeling process for people to figure out how it can work for them. Tiffany believes people can learn mediumship just by doing and practicing it and paying attention to the subtleties.  

Tiffany believes that it is a natural human ability to connect with the spirits beyond the veil and that psychic work has been misunderstood. She thinks that anyone can do mediumship and connect with their departed loved ones on the other side, but it does take time and consistent practice. We can start with two powerful tools we all have to develop our psychic abilities and to reignite our connection with a departed loved one: our memories and our imaginations. She talks about how living in a supportive community of mediums at Lily Dale has helped her accept that it's normal to talk to spirits. Her goal with her book, classes and podcast is to help others develop their mediumship skills and abilities so that they can feel comfortable doing this on their own.

Join us, for an intriguing conversation with Irisanya Moon! Irisanya is a Witch, Priestess, Author of several books, Poet and devotee of Aphrodite. She teaches classes and camps in the Reclaiming Witchcraft tradition around the world. Originally from the Midwest; Irisanya moved to California and has been invested in the Reclaiming Witchcraft tradition since 2008. This is an Eco-Feminist tradition that seeks to unify spirit and politics and encompasses many viewpoints on deity. Irisanya began her spiritual journey by first attending a Witch Camp - a 7 day retreat and loved it. She found a mentor named Copper Persephone who mentored her on her Reclaiming Witchcraft path and was a good friend. Irisanya continued with priestess training and student teaching with Copper for several years before teaching on her own.

We chat about Hestia the Goddess of the hearth and community in all her Greek mythological complexity. Basically, Hestia is/was the flame that connects everyone- the flame that is essential for humankind. She was worshipped in the home but also in the civic/political communities of ancient Greece. Hestia elected to never marry and to remain an eternal Virgin Goddess, one owned by no man and forever tended to the hearth of Olympus.  Hestia offered sanctuary from persecution to those who honored and respected Her and punished those who offended Her. She was worshipped and celebrated around the hearth that is central to family(births,deaths, marriages) etc.as well as community rites of passages and events. The Olympic torch was/is a symbol of the eternal flame of Hestia lit at Mt. Olympus in Her honor.

Irisanya talks to us about how Hestia has influenced her writing this book as a result of teaching at various in-person events, classes and Witchcamps after the Covid lockdown in 2023 and how she worked to bring community together and rebuild community after people have gone through so much. In a way Hestia collaborated with Irisanya while writing this book about her! Irisanya believes that community is essential now more than ever and Irisanya works hard to figure out group cohesion and how people can support each other as well as feel comfortable with giving and receiving around each other. It's about belonging and meeting people where they are at, which is not easy whether it is in a magical Pagan or Wiccan ritual or at work or any other type of community.

Irisanya’s book is full of invocations, meditations, prayers and other useful information so that anyone can connect with Goddess Hestia. And Hestia is there for us to honor and celebrate at home even if we don't have a community around us. We can always call on Her and ask for her wisdom, support, nourishment and blessings regardless of our spiritual background or where we live in the world.

Joey has been serving the Pagan community with videos, books, poetry and Witch items for over ten years. Trained as a Priestess of Morrigan, she has a unique perspective on integrating Celtic Paganism for a modern age. Originally from Nottingham Shire, Joey always felt at home in forests and in nature and loved writing. She was doing Witchy things before she knew what the term Witch meant and she was obsessed with Nature as a kid  but later in life she realized that she was a Celtic Witch.

Joey developed an interest in the Morrigan early and she says the Morrigan was always with her and Joey got to know her mythology and combined with her own personal gnosis she was self - initiated as a Priestess of the Morrigan. Joey deeply identified with Morrigan’s shapeshifting aspect. And being a Hedge Witch fit Joey as the label that she naturally gravitated towards. She believes that Hedge Witchery crosses the boundary between spirit working and green witchcraft/herbalism. 

Joey was always fascinated by hedgerows and drawn to them growing up in rural England finding them to be very magical and liminal. Hedgerows are quintessentially British and seen mostly at the edges of farming fields and woodlands. They are half man made and half wild grown structures of trees and bushes that became living fences creating whole ecosystems and habitats within them. Joey tells us she believes hedgerows are more than a physical boundaries. There is folklore about Witches ”jumping the Hedge” which is a phrase meaning when we cross over into the Spirit world or go on astral travels. This means that Hedgerows aren't just a physical thing. They can be mysterious gateways to the Otherworlds. 

Joey believes that a Hedge Witch is a spirit worker first and foremost who is very connected to the Earth including trees, plants, animals in the physical world and also with the Spiritual Ecosystem-all the spirits that are interconnected. 

We chat about creativity, inspiration and being led by  the universal force of Awen. Joey’s book "Celtic Hedge Witchery: A Modern Approach” grew out of years of her Hedge Witchcraft practice and all the things she's been writing about in her blogs, poetry and creating videos around. It is a beautiful love letter to the spiritual path that Joey has been walking on and shaping.

How can we become Hedge Witches wherever we are in the world? Joey tells us that the memory of the destroyed physical eco systems of the Hedgerows live on in the spiritual world and that we can tap into those spirits wherever we are and create a connection to the divine even if we are not near an actual hedgerow. Going on guided inner journeys and  meditations is a good way to start your practice for this Joey tells us. Leilani chats about her early magical beginnings in Hawaii and being influencedby her grandmother's stories about Pele who is the Goddess of volcanoes and fire. As early as she can remember there was a strong connection and respect for the indigenous deities of Hawaiian culture in her family despite her Catholic upbringing. And it was these stories that kept the Hawaiian spirit alive for Leilani. The “Mana” or spiritual energy of Hawaii is very strong and carries through Leiliani’s beliefs and teachings as a Dianic Priestess and Kahuna. 

Leilani went back to get her masters degree and studied Women’s Spirituality in the SF Bay area and was taught by such legendary women as Luisah Teish and Vickie Noble. Leilani took a class in Priestessing that was taught by the legendary Z. Budapest - the founder of Dianic Wicca. This matrifocal Goddess focused spirituality felt very real to Leilani and she eventually became ordained by Z. Budapest as a Dianic Priestess. Leilani started Daughters of the Goddess in 1996.

Leilani is also an ordained Kahuna which is a Hawaiian spiritual teacher and she weaves the Hawaiian Goddesses in with her Dianic spirituality. Since she also has European ancestry, Leilani brings a multicultural energy of the Goddesses as well as Hawaiian chants, prayers, and Hula into ceremony with her Dianic circle: The Daughters of the Goddess. Leilani and Loiuisa Teish also co-wrote a book together about sacred travels, honoring the Earth, indigenous people and nature from the African and Hawaiian spiritual traditions.

Lorraine's scholarship in occult ancestral spiritualities traces the diverse traditions of contemporary magical practices. Lorraine chats about her early Witchcraft beginnings and being influenced by her great grandmother who was a spirit medium in Cuba who helped people connect with their lost loved ones who passed over. Lorraine speaks as a millennial being influenced by the pop cultural moments that were available to her with such TV shows as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”  and movies like :”The Craft”. As a young 12 year old she identified as a Witch. 

Lorraine talks about how now in the modern moment there is a reclaiming of the word : Bruja. Bruja is the Spanish word for Witch. Its an identity that continues to evolve just like the word Witch does to encompass all the new things we are doing.  And with all gendered versions of the word. While reclaiming the past. She sees Brujas emerging within the intersectional feminism where Witches of color are taking the lead. And bringing their own cultural mythologies and touchstones to the larger Witchcraft movement. Brujas are also creating communities centered around activism. She sees  the Bruja as a nexus of all of the new pathways away from Witchcraft that was centered around European traditions or Greco- Roman mythologies.

Learning about the folk magic , customs and the rituals of indigenous folks who lived on the land that you or your family came from in different parts of the world is  valuable investigative work that can enriches you as a Bruja or Witch.  In her book BRUJAS: The Magic and Power of Witches of Color she also includes cultural ancestors in addition to blood ancestors that we can incorporate into our magic. 

Also Lorraine suggests we can create a personal ancestor altar that can help us speak and connect with our ancestors even if they are land spirits, community elders, spiritual teachers, or cultural icons and remind us that we are not alone.

We also chat about magical activism and creating spiritual communities that can help each other. By centering our values, lifting each other up and try to make the world a better place for all especially during the tense political landscape we are in now. We are all complex and come from different perspectives. and there is no simple narrative and Witchcraft needs to reflect this. Carla has spent many years as a scholar in academia, researching and teaching in the field of ancient history and Women's Studies. Over the decades she has written and published several books and she believes that there is no threshold on how far your creativity can go. Creativity is innate in us but the way we are schooled and how society doesn't place value on creativity can deaden our capability. Creativity is also a powerful part of our well being as we engage our different brain waves that open our capacity for inspiration and connection to spirit and the larger universal energy that can transcend space and time.

Pauline is a Priestess of Brigid and the Author of several books including: “Brigid: Goddess and Saint of Ireland”, “Maman Brigitte: Dark Goddess of Africa and Ireland” and "Brigantia- War Goddess” .  Pauline is passionate about researching and sharing all the various faces of Goddess Brigid. We chat about Pauline's early years as a Catholic and her connection with Saint Brigid and then later in life she discovered the Pagan Brigid. Pauline had an epiphany moment while in meditation with Marion Brigantia, her teacher, in Glastonbury, England. She then had another 'aha' moment when she traveled to Portugal to  a church in Lumiar where part of St Brigid’s skull is enshrined. From then on Pauline was hooked and she became immersed in the many aspects of Brigid. While researching her first book, Pauline began her fascination on how the Saint Brigid travelled with the Irish to the Caribbean and onto the Americas. 

Pauline tells us about Maman Brigitte’s emergence in Haiti during the slave trade, tracing her development into a prominent figure for both Haitian and Irish immigrants who experienced similar social and economic circumstances in Haiti and in New Orleans, Louisiana. A unique blend of Afro-Haitian Lwa religion of VouDou (or VooDoo) and Catholic Irish Brigid; Maman Brigitte emerges as the Dark Goddess and Great Mother that guides and protects the forgotten, the outcasts and the marginalized in life through their our darkest times and ultimately in death. But death takes many forms. Parts of us die all the time with changes in  jobs, relationships, situations, homes, projects, health, life circumstances…etc. We are always shedding. Sometimes these “deaths” are very difficult and Maman Brigitte is there to hold space for those feelings, that grief process and to bridge that past into our future.

Pauline is not a VouDou practitioner or initiated in VouDou religion nor is she familiar with the Yoruban system of spirituality but when writing her book she was looking at Maman Brigitte through the lens of the Irish and how far Goddess Brigid traveled, morphed and was incorporated into other religious practices. Pauline believes we need the Dark Goddesses such as Maman Brigitte now because they can guide us and show us the root cause of our suffering and teach us that our darkest nights are our ultimate power. And to take this deep journey is where Maman Brigitte’s wisdom and healing comes in.

Brigid in all her aspects is as relevant in 2025 as in the pre-Christian Ireland. As Pauline tells us; “There is room for everyone under Brigid’s mantle”. And Brigid continues to shine her flame in her many variations such as Maman Brigitte to all who are open to her in this very moment in time and beyond with her eternal love and power. In this episode of the Oracle of Luna; we will go on a January Wolf Full Moon meditation journey with the Norse Goddess Skadi. I will be your guide, as we align with the current cosmic energies with the Full Moon in Cancer and take a transformative inner journey to the snowy/icy mountains to meet with Goddess Skadi and your inner Wolf.

Skadi, also named Skade, Skadhi or Skathi is a fierce Warrior Queen, Giantess, Goddess of Winter, and a skilled hunter-who walks between the worlds of untamed wildness in the icy snowy mountains and the magical realm of the Gods. 

Skadi was married to Njord the ocean God, but she wanted to live in Thrymheim her father’s hall in the mountains which she loved where she could hear the howling of the wolves. Njord wanted to live in Noatun, his seaside hall and so it didn’t work between Njord and Skadi and eventually they got a divorce.

Skadi reminds us of the power of courage and resilience in the face of life’s many harsh storms and being true to our primal nature. Call upon Skadi when you need help traversing an icy path moving on from life’s dark and challenging times into the light. Howl, Howl, Howl on…Sister!!!

Claire talks about the different light spectrums that allow us to peak into the realm of the nature spirits and the Fairy realm. Metaphysical beings can also wish to make themselves visible to us if there are Ley Lines , Power Spot, Rocks or near water (lakes, wells, sea) that can amplify the potential for Fairy visitations. Unfortunately, Electro Magnetic pollution(cell phones/computers/TV) builds up in their Fairies/Nature Spirits habitat is having a very negative effect on them.

Claire is also the host of the Fairy Whisperer Podcast where she creates a magical space for her guests that have had Fairy experiences and its a show that connects people with the enchantment of Fairies and within themselves. She is the author of several books on Witchcraft, spells, and spirits, including the best selling: Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells and Encyclopedia of Spirits, Pure Magic, Daily Magic, Encyclopedia of Witchcraft and her latest book: Witches, A Compendium. Judika is a professional tarot card reader as well as an Aromatherapist. She is a native New Yorker and Judika teaches in the US and internationally online and in person.

Judika tells us how she grew up being a magical person and an avid reader. She learned to read at age 3 as an only child. Her family read quite a bit too. Her mother loved fairy tales and read them to her. Judika always identified with the Witch. Her mother also had admiration for the Witches. We chat about TV shows such as Bewitched and The Adams Family and some of the shows that Judika watched growing up. She was impressed with the TV Witches such as Samantha and Morticia. They were contemporary Witches that fueled Judika’s passion and interest for Witchcraft. She remembers reading Sybil Leek’s “Diary of a Witch” and seeing Sybil on TV and she made a big impression on Judika when she was young.

Eventually Judika started looking for a publisher. One of them liked her chapter on magic spells but turned down her manuscript. Judika  expanded this into what eventually became “Earth Magic” , her first of many published books. Her book Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells changed everything for Judika.

We discuss Judika’s newest book: Witches A Compendium and how she describes it as a love letter to Witches and Witchcraft. She explores the diversity and celebrates historical, famous, literary, movie/TV Witches with this amazing book. Clearly, the word Witch means a lot of different things to different people. Judika believes that a Witch is ultimately about power and independence no matter what type of Witch a person is.

Join us in this episode, for a conversation with the Author, Priestess, and Tarot Deck Creator: Leeza Roberston! Leeza Robertson is an international bestselling author with Llewellyn Worldwide. She has created and published several Tarot Decks since 2016.  She is passionate about exploring the connection between the Goddess and the Priestess path. Leeza is from the Aussie bush and is living her best life in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Leeza tells us she is not a spiritual person as much as she is a researcher. Her wife influenced Leeza with opening up to her up to Reiki and alternative healing when she was sick and it helped with her healing. Leeza got into Tarot when she lost her eyesight for a while due to a sinus infection. She dreamed of Tarot cards in the darkness. When that was healed she attended an event by Barbara Moore, one of the matriarchs of Tarot. And afterwards Leeza took a lesson with Barbara.

In 2016 Leeza published her first Tarot Deck, Animal Totem Tarot and she has published over 7 more Tarot Decks since then. Leeza chats about the process of publishing a Tarot deck with her publisher: Llewellyn Worldwide. We also talk about one of her books: Tarot Priestess. Leeza identifies as a Priestess and not as a Witch. She noticed that there was not much information or literature for those who are on the Priestess path but much more on the path of the Witch. The Priestess lineage for Women has been somewhat neglected or misunderstood. Leeza struggled with the Divine Femininity theory as a Queer woman and she began looking for the Goddess in Nature as a sacred space of growth, success and building. She started to drop my biased walls of belief and open herself up to building her own personal unique relationship with the Goddess.

Leeza feels that divination and cartomancy is a devotional and ritualistic practice to the Goddess and definitely part of the Priestess path. Leeza wants to communicate and explore how the path of the Witch is very different from the path of the Priestess. If we can create space with communication with the Goddess through our Tarot or Oracle Cards; that can slow us down, center us and open our receptivity to the teachings and wisdom of the Goddess. Angie is a Founder and the Spiritual Director of Earth Traditions Church(since 2008), and of Gaia's Womb(for 26 years), an interfaith spirituality group that has been producing women's spiritual retreats since 1998. and a Certified Death Midwife; having developed a program that provides hands-on, intensive training for compassionate end-of-life care, and information about ecologically sensitive funerals.

She is a life-long Pagan animist with over 40 years of experience as a speaker, officiant, and ritualist. She served on the Board of Trustees for the Parliament of World Religions from 2002 – 2010. As a Certified Death Midwife; Angie developed a program that provides hands-on, intensive training for compassionate end-of-life care, and information about ecologically sensitive funerals.

Angie is a life-long Pagan animist and believes that the Earth is a living sentient being. Mother Nature is the force of always giving birth to itself with the Elements, the cycles and the seasons. Angie talks about her Influence with Nora Cedarwind Young and the Death Positive movement. Nora died in 2014 but expressed that Angie continue her work. Angie then became certified to teach.

Angie believes that Death is the Final rite of passage and a very much overlooked and neglected rite of passage deserving of as much dignity as any other significant rite of passage.  She discusses how we live in a Death Denying culture and most of us die alone without prior Death planning. She sees her work as a sacred calling. Death Midwifery also deals with Death from an emotional, spiritual and practical place. She believes that Death has been taken from us by industry (medical, funeral , academia). She encourages families and loved ones to spend time with the beloved dead that have recently passed on. Angie explains that we have over-medicalized and over-industrialized Death so that it has become an incredibly toxic and unsustainable industry.

Angie, as a Death Midwife, is reclaiming the caring for the Dead and their loved ones and family. Our culture doesn't give us the tools to grieve or mourn the 3 days of workplace bereavement leave doesn't cut it. Other cultures and countries continue to do forms of mourning. Angie’s Death Midwifery practices include a strong consideration for Eco-Friendly body disposition options.  She tells us about how embalming fluid (Formaldehyde)  is one of the most dangerous carcinogens known. It leaches into soil & ground water, etc. Angie says that there are many options and resources for Eco-Friendly natural burials, green cemeteries, green burials and water and earth cremation processes that are available and are carbon neutral. Burials and body disposition do not have to be toxic.

NEW! Join us in this episode, for a spellbinding conversation with Alice Markham-Cantor! Alice is the Author of: “The Once and Future Witch Hunt-A Descendant’s Reckoning from Salem to the Present”  and the Film Co-Producer of ​​”A Witch Story”, an award-winning documentary film about Salem and her research. Alice is a descendant of Martha Carrier, one of the Women accused and hanged at Salem. Her work has been published in New York Magazine, Scientific American, The Nation, and elsewhere. She serves on the working committee of the International Network Against Accusations of Witch Hunting and Associated Harmful Practices, and spoke at the first and second Feminist Conferences on the Witch Hunts hosted by the Campaña por la Memoria de las Brujas in Spain. She is from Brooklyn, New York.

We begin by delving into why the Salem Witch Hunts took place and the build up of the socio/economic/political circumstances and unrest leading to the Salem Witch trials. There is unease and lack of leadership in Massachusetts Colony at that time.  The Puritans were also at war with Algonquin native American Indian tribes which was a stressful issue too. Puritans had the viewpoint that the Native Americans were allied with the devil. There was no governor or local Magistrates at that time either.  There was also friction between Salem Town and  Salem Village. Samuel Paris became the new Salem Village minister in 1689. Like a wildfire all  the circumstances have been escalating and then the flame is lit. In this case; the flame is Samuel Paris’ 2 girls living in his household that started having “fits”. Tituba was a slave in that house and she was one of the first accused of being a Witch also. 

This unrest and suspicion made Salem Villagers feel like the devil was out to get them. They needed a scapegoat and at that time period Women were thought of as spiritually weaker and more likely seduced by the devil and thus likely to be Witches. Especially the women who diverge from Puritan behavioral norms and therefore are more vulnerable to attack.  All these factors contributed to the Salem Witch Hunts.

Alice tells us that Witch Hunts are not a thing of the past. Currently, we see this with the Republicans party in the USA attacking illegal and undocumented immigrants. Alice believes it's exactly mirroring what happened with the Puritans using fear and hysteria to create the Salem Witch Hunts.  Alice explains that over 20,000 people have been killed in Witch Hunts over the last decade worldwide. It is common to happen in places that are experiencing economic upheaval.  

Alice leaves us with her discovery that one of the reasons why Martha Carrier (her ancestor) was killed in Salem was that the 19 people who were hanged in Salem were those that refused to confess to Witchcraft because they did not identify as Witches. Alice thinks that ultimately the Salem Witch Trials are a lesson in fear. And the lesson of Salem Village is how fear works and how accusation works. Martha Carrier was extremely clear to her accusers in the Salem Witch Trials that she was not a Witch. Alice believes this is an important thing to remember as we participate in the season of Halloween and Samhain. Tune in and be enlightened!

Join us in this episode, for a captivating conversation with Photographer, Artist, Author of “Goddess on Earth: Portraits of the Divine Feminine” and Oracle Deck creator: Lisa Levart! Lisa’s lifelong personal assignment is to celebrate contemporary Women while drawing upon ancient stories to elevate their life journeys. She photographs archetypal imagery that is made to inspire Women to be their most powerful selves. Levart’s iconic photographs have appeared in numerous publications, including: New York magazine, The New York Times, O, The Oprah Magazine, Time magazine, and The Washington Post. She lives in the Hudson Valley, New York area.

Lisa tells us that she was called by the Goddess to photograph Women as Goddesses after attending sacred circles led by Gina Martin (my previous podcast guest on The Oracle of Luna). She weaves her love for the sacred feminine in with her visual art and photography. And from her growth in the Goddess spiritual world Lisa developed her Goddess portraits. Her portraits combine different techniques such as collage, textures  and mixed media which create depth to her photographs. She collaborated with all the Women that she photographed and asked them to choose which Goddess they wanted to portray and what elements water, air, earth, fire or spirit that they felt deeply connected to. The Women wanted Lisa to see them in this unique way. Her award winning book: “Goddess on Earth - Portraits of the Divine Feminine” reflects her passion for Goddess spirituality and her visual art.

Lisa photographed and collaborated with indigenous women and this work evolved into her epic immersive large scale photography installation project called: “Still Here: Women of the Ramapough Lenape Nation”.  The Ramapough Lenape are the indigenous peoples who lived in what is present day New York, Hudson Valley, New York city areas. This magical larger than life art/photography outdoor installation interplays with the cycles and seasons of nature and also honors the indigenous Women expressing their sacred stories on ancestral land.

Lisa also photographed and published the: “Goddess on Earth Oracle Deck and Guidebook”. She loved the idea of creating an interactive divination deck with Women embodying Goddess archetypes combined with the elements. Each of the Women photographed in Lisa’s Oracle Deck also offered a message from their own perspective of the Goddess on the card that they portrayed. The images were used from her Mythica series. The subtitle of the companion book is: “A Divination Guidebook with Spirited Wisdom from your Sisters”.  Tune in and be enlightened!

In this episode of the Oracle of Luna; we will go on an October New Moon meditation journey with the Slavic Goddess Baba Yaga. I will be your guide, as we align with the current cosmic energies with the New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Libra and take a mystical journey to the deep woods and mountains of Eastern Europe to connect with Baba Yaga.  I recommend that you listen to this episode with your eyes closed, being totally present, so you allow yourself to go on this inner journey.

Baba Yaga is the Slavic Wild Witch of the Woods and so much more! Baba Yaga lives in a remote hut that walks through the forest on chicken legs with a fence of human bones and skulls, and she flies in the air in a giant magical mortar and pestle. She usually appears as a hag or crone with a bony leg, and she is known as a shamanic trickster to challenge those who are in need of lessons and transformation.

Baba Yaga appears in Slavic and Russian folk and fairy tales over hundreds of years. In these stories, she represents a powerful shape shifting feminist crone archetype that is both heroine and villain, protective grandmother and horribly fierce, and acts as a Shaman or gatekeeper between the living world and the world of spirit and and a guardian of heroes/heroines. Baba Yaga is omniscient - she knows all things. She resides in the domain of the supernatural and holds secret knowledge, which she sometimes reveals to those whom she deems to be deserving of it.

Baba Yaga is associated with the deep woods and forests, and the wildness of nature. A force of nature herself, she symbolizes the unpredictable and untameable nature of the female spirit, of Mother Earth, and the relationship of Women to the wild. There are indications that Baba Yaga was once an ancient Pagan Earth Goddess in Slavic mythology that morphed into many complex interpretations throughout the years. 

Baba Yaga reminds us that we are also ferocious, untameable, wise and capable of our own powerful potential and honoring both the dark and the light within us. Tune in and be enlightened!

Gina tells us that we can learn so much with Divine Feminine wisdom by being receptive and developing a reciprocal relationship by having a sense of being eager to know Her and She being eager to know us. Similar to indigenous spiritualities who live in concert with the alive forces of the planet. We are one of all species - not the dominant species. This takes time, patience, sensitivity, practice and the ability to be quiet and not distracted which is a hard learning curve for most people given our non-stop consumerist, patriarchal society and our mindset of instant gratification. 

We chatted about Gina’s role as founding mother and High Priestess of Triple Spiral of Dún na Sidhe, a pagan spiritual congregation in the Hudson Valley, NY area that she created over 25 years ago. They have met every Moon & the Sabbats for 25 years and are now a 501(c)(3) registered congregation. Gina also wanted to have a place where girls through womanhood could learn, be involved and know about the Goddess within this Triple Spiral of Dún na Sidhe circle’s tradition. This Pagan spiritual community has a big 25th anniversary circle celebration planned this Samhain/Halloween.

Gina has also composed songs/chants and wrote “WomEnchanting” and with other members of Triple Spiral circle with links to downloadable recordings of sacred songs and chants. Tune in and be enlightened!

Join us in this episode, for an enchanting conversation with Poet, Priestess, and Goddess Statues Creatrix: Molly Remer! Molly, is a Priestess, Mystic, Author and Poet in central Missouri USA. Molly and her husband Mark co-create Story Goddesses at Brigid’s Grove. Molly is the Author of many books, including "Walking with Persephone", "Whole and Holy", "Womanrunes", the "Goddess Devotional", and "365 Days of Goddess". She is the creatrix of the devotional experience #30DaysofGoddess and she loves savoring small magic, honoring the sacred and everyday enchantment.

Molly has been gathering community circles online and in-person since 2008. She plans and facilitates women’s circles, multi-gender rituals and celebrations, seasonal retreats and rituals, mother-daughter circles, family ceremonies, and red tent circles in central Missouri.

We chat about her early years in rural Missouri and being influenced in a non-traditional way in the middle of the bible belt. In grad school Molly was exposed to Women’s Studies and important books such as “When God was a Woman” by Merlin Stone. Later Molly joined a Unitarian Universalist church training program in Feminists in Thealogy called “Cakes for the Queen of Heaven” and began creating circles and retreats for Women that are earth-based feminist theology practices that she still continues to do.

Molly tells us about the mini Goddess statues that she and her husband create and how they embody the sacred Goddess in everyday life. They are a tangible connection to divinity.  Molly tells us that her books have a common thread of intentional, creative, everyday enchantment, spiritual living and Goddess devotion that we can all access and help us to participate in the sacred rhythms of life and our own unfolding magic as it is, where it is.

We talk about Baba Yaga’s mythos, magic and history through Slavic folklore. Kris explains she might be tied to ancient roots of a divine feminine presence from the Cucuteni–Trypillian culture in ancient eastern Europe primarily Moldova, Romania and Ukraine areas. 

Baba Yaga is a Fierce Feminist, Initiator, Villain, Wise Woman, Healer, transformer, Witch of the woods with so many differing aspects, stories, misconceptions and layers associated with her. Kris also speaks about Baba Yaga’s symbols of the Chicken Legged Magical Hut in the woods(symbol of a womb), her fences of bones/skulls, her massive flying Mortar/Pestle (symbols of transformation) which are mundane yet magical and divine. Baba Yaga tests protagonists through folktales such as Prince Ivan, Visalisa the beautiful, who need to prove themselves to transform come to her chicken hut in the woods.

We chat about Baba Yaga’s connection to nature as an Earth goddess and as an herbalist. After her first album/CD Kellianna decided to merge her Goddess spirituality with her music. She has performed at many Goddess Conferences, Pagan Festivals and leading Women’s ritual chant circles internationally and in the USA. Kelliana talks with us about the power of chanting during ritual and how it brings us to the places between the places and is so deeply healing and transformative. It is a place where sacred magic happens. She uses song to move energy, to celebrate the ancient mysteries, and to strengthen intention.

We chat about Kellianna’s SpiritSong; a vocal healing tonal practice without words that she leads in workshops. It’s a reclamation of power for many Women. Kellianna says that our voices are our most singular form of expression and with SpritSong practice/workshops  it's an empowering conduit of energy & expression. They have written/published 2 of the 3 books so far and epic journey. As women we have so much power and these books (and her chants/songs) are about learning to dance with that power, strength and magic.  Sekhmet, the Lion Headed is one of the oldest and most worshiped Goddesses in the Egyptian Pantheon. Her name derives from the word “Sekhem” which means power. Her magical power is both to heal and to destroy.  Sekhmet is a warrior Goddess, fierce and powerful, protectress of everything that is sacred.
In the past she reigned and was protector of the Egyptian borders and the Reign of Pharaohs. For these attributes she is worshiped as “The One before Whom All Evil Trembles”. 

Sekhmet as a Solar Goddess who has the power for both healing and destruction. Sun and Fire can cause both harm but let’s not forget the life-giving aspects of transformation and growth. Sekhmet with her fierce compassion encourages us to work our own inner fire to rise above all obstacles. As we embrace the fire and power of Goddess Sekhmet we can purge or burn away any old patterns and negativity to transform our reality and bridge what we want manifest and unmanifest in our own lives. In this episode of the Oracle of Luna; we will go on a July New Moon meditation journey with the Yoruban Goddess Yemaya. I will be your guide, as we align with the current cosmic energies with the New Moon in Cancer and take a transformative inner journey to the ocean to meet with Goddess Yemaya.

Yemaya is the Yoruban Orisha or Goddess of the living ocean, considered the Mother of All. Yemaya hails from the Yoruba religion of Nigeria, where she was originally the River Goddess, believed to be the source of water that gives life. Life began in the ocean waters, and She represents a dynamic mother archetype that is both loving and fierce, soft and strong.

Yemaya was originally the River Goddess , believed to be the source of water that gives life. During the 16th century, she was brought to the New World by enslaved Africans and became their Goddess of the Ocean. When her people were hoarded onto slave ships, Yemaya came along to protect their journey and became “Mother of All.”

Yemaya reminds us that even the worst catastrophes can be endured. With her help, grace and wisdom, we can learn to negotiate the ebbs and flows of change in our lives and maintain our power.

Join us in this episode, for an excellent chat with Celtic Witch & Author Danu Forest! Danu is a traditional Bean Feasa or Wisewoman of Irish and English descent with over 30 years’ experience in the Celtic tradition. Born with the second sight she is a natural seer working closely with the spirits of the land and its ancestral and Otherworldly intelligences as well as plant and tree spirits and the genius loci, the old gods or powers of place. She is a Celtic spirit worker, healer and a plant spirit herbalist working within her local sacred landscape, deep in the Avalon near Glastonbury, UK. Danu holds regular ceremonies as well as workshops and online training, and is noted for her scholarship as well as her intuitive and practical experience. She is the author of several books including: ‘Wild Magic’, 'Celtic Tree Magic' (Llewellyn) and 'The Magical Year' (Watkins) as well as her new oracle deck, ‘Celtic Goddesses Witches and Queens’ (Schiffer). She holds an MA in Celtic studies specializing in the Otherworld, and is a PhD student researching the Celtic Fairy Faith. 

We delve into the 3- Part Celtic Cosmology (Earth, Sea, Sky/Upper World, Middle World, Lower World) and how they represent real places but also shifts in consciousness or perception. For the Celts, this was an endless cycle shifting between Earth, Sea, Sky. And how this was a huge influence on Celtic spirituality & philosophy especially in the Iron Age -over 2000 years ago. Danu explains that the Celts had many Gods but not in human forms. They were forces ever present in Nature. Nature is divinity in the Celtic Cosmology. We also talk a bit about the Fairies who live in that Otherworldly realm.

Danu explains that nothing about the Celtic Traditions are exclusive to only living in the UK or having a certain bloodline though. She gives us suggestions/techniques on how we can build a connection to the land spirits as well as mend our relationship wherever we are on the earth. This takes patient & gentle care over time especially if that land has any trauma attached to it. So much can come from doing this! It encourages us to be more ecologically minded too and have respect for the Earth.And its about re-building a relationship with the spirits of the land (wherever we are) which is very important work for all of us.

We chatted about Danu’s new oracle deck. She tells us that Women in Celtic Mythology were amazingly empowered. In this deck, we can draw wisdom and inspiration from them and also explore some of the other Celtic Goddesses that are lesser known too. These Celtic Queens, Witches, Goddesses can be allies for Women in all the aspects of our journey!

Robin is a devotee of Persephone and author of “Persephone: Practicing the Art of Personal Power” by MoonBooks. Robin shares a special Persephone blessing towards the end of the episode - so stay tuned! Robin has been working with Goddesses, dreams, and other spiritual modalities for over 25 years. She has been a featured speaker at local, national and international conferences including Paganicon, Mooncon, Ninefold Festival, and the Water Priestess Confluence. 

Robin is a long time member of the Sisterhood of Avalon which is an international organization that focuses on Women’s mysteries in the Welsh & Celtic Goddess tradition. Robin recently retired as the CEO from a large non-profit social services organization after eleven years. She currently lives with her husband and cat in Washington state.

We chat about Robin’s early beginnings. Robin was sick as a child with a rare medical condition and immersed herself in stories, myths and in other worlds. She really resonated with the story of Persephone and felt a strong connection with her at a young age. She admired this Goddess who overcame her challenges despite how people around her were making choices for her.  As Robin grew older she became more interested in myths, Goddesses and nature based religions. She wrote stories & poems as a young adult. Later, she received a degree in Teaching & English Literature. Robin traveled to Greece and visited Persephone's sacred places there and came back inspired to write about Persephone and to share with the world how powerful she was as/ is.  We discuss the Elysian Mysteries in ancient Greece & how there was the reenactment of the Demeter and Persephone story. Persephone is great for learning discernment and clarity. Robin speaks about how people with chronic illnesses are drawn to deities that are liminal. Our society is more & more coming to terms with a different understanding of death. Persephone’s lessons, myths and her aspects/qualities make her a really great ally for many of life’s challenges, cycles! 

This Goddess is full of contradictions- just like us humans. Persephone is known as the Dread Queen of Underworld and Goddess of Spring. Persephone helps us to see with clarity what we need to let go of so that we can enact our personal power, so that we can be self determined and sovereign. Goddess Persephone can be such a transformative force helping us to get to the root of what some of our shadows are too. We can work with the meditations and rituals in Robin’s book to form a closer relationship over time with Persephone. Persephone is a Goddess that is still very much relevant in present times.

In this episode, I have a fascinating chat with Author Mawiyah Kai El-Jamah Bomani! Mawiyah is an 8th Generation Witch, Egun Medium, Priestess of OYA in the Yoruba system of spirituality, educator and award winning playwright. Mawiyah lives, writes, conducts Orisa rituals, spiritual consultations, womb-warrior women workshops, house cleansings, and divinations in both Northern and Southern Louisiana. Mawiyah’s first book with Llewellyn Worldwide is titled: “Conjuring the Calabash: Empowering Women with Hoodoo Spells and Magick”.

Growing up in New Orleans- the gumbo stew of African, Indigenous, Creole, French and Hispanic cultures; Mawiyah began seeing spirits at a young age. Her mother and grandmother understood Mawiya's magical gift. In the past, HooDoo was used for safety and spiritual protection from violence.  Mawyah believes that Hoodoo for women of color is empowering and is a type of modern day sorcery. Women want something spiritual/magical that is hands on and to engage in. It also provides a connection to their lineage and invites both younger & older women. HooDoo weaves magic, empowerment, sacred feminine knowledge in a relatable way. People can do the workings from her book to connect to spirit but also stay grounded in an authentic way. 

Mawiya tells us about her own life and how Hoodoo & Spellwork transformed and healed the individual lives of her clients. She wanted to share this with the world with her book: “Conjuring the Calabash: Empowering Women with Hoodoo Spells and Magick”. We chat about the calabash (gourd) which is a sacred vessel in Yoruba cosmology and the ultimate emblem of female fertility. But it also represents the male/female divinity and the interconnectedness of all living beings. Mawiyah speaks about how the calabash is an invitation to come close, to listen, and to understand each other. When it's shaken as a shakaree the beaded gourd plays and sways. It allows one to invoke the spirit within to come forward and to change us. The darkness inside the calabash is the sacred void where all things and ideas can be birthed.

As a priestess of Oya in the Yoruba spiritual system; Mawiyah does many past life readings. Her clients want to transform what has happened in the past so they can move forward in life with a clear slate and not be stuck by past life energies. Goddess Oya allows Mawiyah to step into those past lives and ancestral wound spaces to help people move through them so they aren't repeating old patterns or past life behaviors. She believes storytelling or myth is a big part of expressing/speaking to the divine. And sometimes a deity or the Goddess shows up in our dreams or subconscious. In her “Aspecting the Goddess” published by MoonBooks, these were her personal stories of working with the magic of the Goddess. It is a workbook where one can experience the breadth & depth of personal journeys with 12 different Goddesses/Deities so you can really feel Goddess connection!

Jane also published a best selling book called: “Journey to the Dark Goddess”. Which addresses Goddesses who are with us in those difficult parts of our lives-when we have to descend into our own Underworld journey.Death, Pain, Illness, Loss, Depression, etc. are very common experiences for us all. There is a need for Her as our society is in denial of all of the topics that the Dark Goddess embraces.This book is by far the most successful and popular of all her books and workshops/classes too. Arin is a GreenWitch who lives in Montreal, Canada. She is the author of several popular books on Witchcraft and nature-based spirituality, including: The Green Witch, The House Witch, The Witch’s Book of Self-Care, The Green Witch’s Grimoire, The Green Witch’s Garden, and The Green Witch’s Oracle Deck. We chatted about Arin’s writing career as a bookstore experience and then on to a publishing experience and how she embarked on her own alternative spiritual path. Arin has had a willingness to try different things, experiment and be open to what other people suggest. She believes that Witchcraft and Paganism is a highly subjective path that we are creating ourselves and that we can develop a unique spiritual relationship with plants, flowers, herbs and trees - wherever we live if we can tune into their subtle energies. Green Witchcraft  focuses on healing, balance, and harmony, based in the energies of the natural world. Arin suggests some ways to incorporate nature-based spirituality into everyday life- wherever we live. We can take the time to look at nature’s needs to help address them, both on a personal level via choices in gardening and purchasing, and also on a larger activist level as well.
