Stink says Caleb Williams, back from a hamstring injury, was the best he has ever seen him playing on schedule in the win over Atlanta, and that Ben Johnson told him a year ago to wait and see the offensive line he was building. Merril says the Bears are playing to a championship standard up front, with three different quarterbacks and three different running backs all finding success behind it. In Kansas City, Kenneth Walker III has the Chiefs at 5-0 with an NFL-leading 665 rushing yards, and Merril says he has become a force every team has to deal with. Next up: Sunday night in Seattle, the team that let him go.

The Eagles knew Jalen Hurts had a blood clot in his calf before their game in London. He played anyway, after reportedly going about 36 hours without sleep, then flew home with the team. Now he's out for the season. Merril Hoge, who nearly lost his life after a team doctor cleared him over the phone in 1994, says the Eagles have some hard questions to answer.

On the first OG FB Extra, Trey Wingo and Merril Hoge break down the Jalen Hurts health crisis. On Monday, the Eagles and Hurts' agent announced he has deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs. The good news: his prognosis is very good, and he's expected to make a full recovery.
Merril has lived this. In 1994, five days after a severe concussion against the Chiefs, he was cleared to play over the phone. A few weeks later, another hit ended his career and nearly took his life. His point: it's usually not the injury that's the problem, it's the care you get. Keeping a player awake before a violent game and putting him on a transatlantic flight with a known clot are decisions the Eagles' medical staff and front office will have to explain.
Trey and Merril also get into how the Miami Heat protected Chris Bosh from himself, why it's on organizations to protect players who will always say they want to play, and what the Eagles need to say publicly now. Merril's advice: tell the whole truth, own the mistakes, and have a plan going forward.

On this week’s Challenge Flags, the OG Football Show panel of Trey Wingo, Mark Schlereth, Merril Hoge and Damien Woody each challenge a player, coach, unit or team heading into Week 6 of the NFL season.
Stink’s flag goes to Ben Johnson, who has spent his time in Chicago talking trash about the Green Bay Packers. Stink loves it as a broadcaster. As a former player, he has a problem with it: Johnson is writing checks his players have to cash. The coach doesn’t have to block anybody or tackle anybody, but every word he says ends up on the other team’s bulletin board. Green Bay had all week to rally around it, and the Packers beat the Bears 31-7 at Lambeau. Players are simple creatures, Stink says, and that kind of motivation lands. Merril has a history lesson for Johnson too: go look at how it turned out for Jerry Glanville.

Trey's message: the job is to let the players perform within the rules, and nobody tunes in to watch the officials.
