This Is What a Rebuild Looks Like (feat. Rick Dhaliwal)13 oct. 202600:24:30

In this episode, Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal, co-host of Donnie and Dhali, joins me to talk about Vancouver's ugly start to the season and what it actually tells us about the rebuild. The blowout losses aren't surprising, but Rick argues that the organization can't afford to get its draft picks and prospect development wrong again.

We also get into the futures of Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson, the impact of Vancouver's veteran additions, and Rick's concerning update on the Canucks' search for a proper practice facility.

Which Canucks Hot Starts Are Actually Real? (feat. Elijah Ford)07 oct. 202600:17:51

In this video, Elijah Ford joins me to figure out which Vancouver Canucks are forcing their way into bigger roles just four games into the season. Paul Cotter is already exceeding expectations, Max Sasson is earning tough matchups, and the lineup we imagined a month ago is starting to look different.

I also ask Elijah how much of Elias Pettersson’s early improvement looks real. There’s plenty to like, but four games probably isn’t enough for me to start yelling that he’s back. Probably.

The conversation gets into where Jonathan Lekkerimäki belongs, how Filip Chytil’s availability affects the centre depth, and which young defenceman has impressed Elijah most.

Why the NHL Needs Hockey YouTubers (feat. Hockey Psychology)05 oct. 202600:12:59

In this clip from my conversation with Hockey Psychology, Anthony tells me how he built his channel and why more hockey fans now turn to independent creators for analysis. We also talk about copyright claims that blocked his videos and how the NHL could give creators clearer rules while protecting game rights.

Why the Canucks Aren’t Rushing Their Prospects (feat. Dave Hall)01 oct. 202600:20:42

In this episode, I’m joined by Canucks Army’s Dave Hall to talk about whether the Vancouver Canucks are taking the right approach with their prospects. We get into why Braeden Cootes belongs in Abbotsford, whether junior hockey can be “too easy” for Adam Novotný, and what Jonathan Lekkerimäki needs to show beyond his shot.

Dave also explains why Alexei Medvedev is a prospect to watch this year, what makes Yaroslav Bryzgalov so intriguing, and the question Anthony Romani still needs to answer.

– Nuckhead

What to Expect From the 2026/27 NHL Season (feat. Hockey Psychology)29 sept. 202600:19:36

In this episode, I’m joined by Anthony from Hockey Psychology to preview the 2026–27 NHL season and sort through which teams have actually improved. The Toronto Maple Leafs have changed, the San Jose Sharks could be ready to take the next step, and Anthony isn’t quite as sold on the Montreal Canadiens as some people are.

We also look at what makes the league’s best teams work and where the Vancouver Canucks fit into all of this. That includes Elias Pettersson’s confidence, Manny Malhotra’s approach, and what a successful rebuild season would actually look like. There’s also a little disagreement about the Ottawa Senators and a familiar question about Quinn Hughes’ future.

– Nuckhead

Who Actually Fits Manny Malhotra’s Canucks? (feat. Sapsterr)24 sept. 202600:18:48

In this video, Sapsterr joins me to revisit Manny Malhotra’s Vancouver Canucks now that training camp and preseason hockey have given us a first look at the system. We talk about the speed it demands, why Aatu Räty may have a difficult fit, and what it could bring out of players like Tom Willander and Elias Pettersson. Edward also makes a big case for Liam Öhgren, has concerns about Victor Mancini, and explains what progress should look like even if the wins are slow to come.

– Nuckhead

The Canucks’ Centre Battle Looks Different After Camp (feat. Trevor Beggs)23 sept. 202600:20:10

In this episode, Trevor Beggs joins me after watching Vancouver Canucks training camp in Penticton. Manny Malhotra’s practices looked faster and more demanding, but Trevor’s biggest rethink might be at centre: he thought Filip Chytil was the best one on the ice, while Aatu Räty still looked a step behind.

We also get into Elias Pettersson, why Braeden Cootes could make the opening-night decision difficult, and what needs to show up in preseason games before we can say the Canucks have really changed.

– Nuckhead

Can the Canucks Win Their Fans Back? (feat. Canuck Clay)18 sept. 202600:22:07

In this episode, Canuck Clay joins me to talk about what it would take for the Vancouver Canucks to earn their fans’ trust back, even if they’re still near the bottom of the standings.

Clay explains why he stepped away from season tickets after 15 years and what could bring him back. We also get into why the team is starting to feel like the Canucks again, what pride and effort should look like on the ice, and the danger of letting another short burst of success derail the rebuild.

- Nuckhead

Why This Canucks Season Might Actually Be Fun (feat. nucksmemes)14 sept. 202600:16:31

The Canucks finished dead last last season, but that doesn’t mean this year has to be miserable.

Nucko, also known as nucksmemes, joins me to figure out what would make this rebuilding season genuinely fun and successful. Even if wins and losses aren’t the main measurement.

We discuss why the team already feels different, the danger of becoming competitive too quickly, Aatu Räty’s development, possible fan favourites, Paul Cotter’s glowing review of the organization, Elias Pettersson’s relationship with the fan base and why D-Petey could surprise people this season.

– Nuckhead

Who Gets Left Out of the Canucks Lineup? (feat. Elijah Ford)11 sept. 202600:22:57

In this episode, I’m joined by Elijah Ford to figure out who actually belongs in the Vancouver Canucks’ bottom six and what that leaves them with up top. Finding a spot for everyone gets complicated pretty quickly.

Could Linus Karlsson earn a bigger offensive role? Where does Jonathan Lekkerimäki fit if he isn’t playing in the top six? And who should line up beside Elias Pettersson? I put Elijah on the spot to build all four forward lines ahead of training camp.

The Canucks Just Made a $75 Million Bet on Zeev Buium (feat. DeanerHD)09 sept. 202600:20:18

Head to Manta Sleep and use code NUCK10 for 10% off at checkout! https://bit.ly/4gNnRhs

In this episode, DeanerHD joins me to break down the Vancouver Canucks’ massive bet on Zeev Buium after signing the 20-year-old defenceman to an eight-year, $75.04 million extension.

We look at why the contract could age extremely well, why Buium might already be underrated, what he still needs to improve, and who the Canucks should eventually pair with him on defence. We also get into his leadership potential, whether he could become Vancouver’s next captain, and Deaner makes a prediction on whether Buium can eventually break Quinn Hughes’ franchise scoring record for a Canucks defenceman.

And after predicting Buium’s new contract the last time he was on the show, I put Deaner on the spot for another one, this time involving Liam Öhgren.

– Nuckhead

Who Really Runs the Canucks? (feat. Matthew Sekeres)05 sept. 202600:22:24

In this episode, I’m joined by longtime Vancouver sports broadcaster Matthew Sekeres to discuss whether the Canucks have actually changed the way they operate now that they’ve committed to a rebuild. We get into how much autonomy the Sedins and Ryan Johnson really have, whether ownership is cutting costs, which veterans should stay or be moved, and what actually needs to happen this season for the rebuild to be considered a success. Sekeres also explains why he believes the Canucks could eventually be sold during the rebuilding process.

– Nuckhead

Why Canucks Fans Keep Coming Back (feat. Arielle Lalande)03 sept. 202600:18:53

In this episode, I chat with Canucks writer Arielle Lalande about what it means to love a Vancouver Canucks team that has never won the Stanley Cup, and why fans keep coming back anyway. We talk about getting attached to certain players and eras, how all the losing has shaped the fan base, why humour and hope matter through terrible seasons, and how the people and community around the Canucks can ultimately mean more than wins, losses or any one player.

– Nuckhead

Are the Canucks Actually Cursed? (feat. Big Head Hockey)01 sept. 202600:18:56

After 56 years without a Stanley Cup, fans of the Vancouver Canucks have had plenty of time to come up with explanations for why things always seem to go wrong. In this episode, I chat with NHL content creator Big Head Hockey and put some of the biggest Canucks fan conspiracies to the test. We talk about Elias Pettersson, Vancouver’s brutal draft lottery history, Gary Bettman and the Canadian Stanley Cup drought, the 2011 Final against Boston, and whether the Canucks might actually be cursed.

– Nuckhead

What Happens to Elias Pettersson Now? (feat. Harman Dayal)28 août 202600:19:18

In this episode, I had the pleasure of chatting with Harman Dayal of The Athletic. We discuss what has happened to Elias Pettersson over the last two seasons, what parts of his game may still be fixable, and what a realistic bounce-back could actually look like in 2026–27. We also talk about whether Pettersson’s timeline still fits the Canucks’ rebuild, what his contract means for Vancouver right now, and whether the team could eventually look to move him once his trade value recovers.

– Nuckhead

What the Canucks’ Rebuild Is Still Missing (feat. DeanerHD)26 août 202600:14:26

In this episode, DeanerHD joins me to figure out which players in the Vancouver Canucks organization could become major pieces of the next great Canucks team—and what that team is still missing. We project a potential future core built around Caleb Malhotra, Zeev Buium, Braeden Cootes, Tom Willander, and Adam Novotný; discuss the importance of this season for Jonathan Lekkerimäki; and debate whether Cootes should develop in Abbotsford or begin receiving NHL minutes. We also look at what Vancouver can learn from the San Jose Sharks’ rebuild, why the Canucks may still need a true number-one centre and elite top-line wingers, and how aggressively they should bet on young players like Buium and Liam Öhgren before they fully prove themselves.

– Nuckhead

How Long Will the Canucks Rebuild Take? (feat. Trevor Beggs)24 août 202600:22:19

In this episode, I had the pleasure of chatting with Daily Hive reporter and co-host of the Locked On Canucks podcast, Trevor Beggs. We discuss the Vancouver Canucks’ rebuild and whether this is finally the direction the organization has needed for years. We look back at why Vancouver was so hesitant to commit to a full rebuild, what separates successful rebuilds around the NHL, and whether the Canucks already have the foundation of their next competitive team. We also discuss the realistic timeline for this rebuild, what could derail their plans this season, the importance of drafting and player development, and what needs to happen for Vancouver to eventually become a contender again.

– Nuckhead

How the Canucks Are Rebuilding Their Culture (feat. Irfaan Gaffar)20 août 202600:29:28

In this episode, Irfaan Gaffar joins me to break down how the Vancouver Canucks’ culture became so dysfunctional, what has changed since, and whether the organization is finally building something that can last. We discuss the fallout from the J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson situation, the departures of Quinn Hughes and Conor Garland, and why the old dressing room had become so divided. We look at how Daniel and Henrik Sedin, Ryan Johnson, Manny Malhotra, and veteran additions like Luke Schenn, Brendan Gallagher, and Jamie Oleksiak are trying to set a new standard around a young roster. We also talk about what will truly test this new culture, which players wanna be part of the rebuild, and who could eventually become the next captain of the Canucks.

– Nuckhead

The Canucks Are Finally Rebuilding the Right Way (feat. DeanerHD)17 août 202600:20:36

In this episode, DeanerHD joins me to break down the Vancouver Canucks’ latest off-season moves and why this rebuild might finally be getting handled the right way. We discuss what Brendan Gallagher, Paul Cotter, Luke Schenn, and Jamie Oleksiak could bring to Vancouver, the value of adding veteran leadership around a young roster, and how several of these low-risk signings could eventually become valuable trade-deadline assets. We also look at the new additions in Abbotsford and attempt to answer one of hockey’s greatest mysteries; what do “future considerations” actually mean?

– Nuckhead

How Manny Malhotra Will Change the Canucks (feat. Sapsterr)11 août 202600:18:51

In this episode, Edward (aka Sapterr) explains Manny Malhotra’s coaching system and how the Vancouver Canucks could play under their new head coach. We break down Malhotra’s forecheck, 1-1-3 neutral-zone system, zone defence, offensive-zone cycle, and possession-based style. We also compare his approach with Adam Foote’s system last season and discuss what it could mean for Elias Pettersson, Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Tom Willander, Zeev Buium, Linus Karlsson, Liam Öhgren, and the rest of the Canucks’ young roster.

Read Edward’s full Manny Malhotra systems breakdown.

How To Stay Sane as a Canucks Fan (feat. nucksmemes)13 févr. 202601:17:58

In this episode, I sit down with one of the most recognizable voices in Canucks internet culture, nucksmemes, to talk about surviving a 32nd-place season, the reality of the rebuild, and why making it funny might be the only way through it.– Nuckhead

Why the Canucks Fell Apart (feat. Sapsterr)30 janv. 202601:58:08

In this episode, I’m joined by Sapsterr for a deep, wide-ranging conversation about how the Vancouver Canucks ended up here and what comes next. We start with preseason expectations and why the season quietly fell apart once Filip Chytil went down, and the team never solved its centre depth issues. From there, we spend a lot of time unpacking Elias Pettersson’s game, why his offensive efficiency has dropped, how injuries, usage, and lost chemistry changed the way he plays, and why much of the criticism around him misses the point. We also dig into Brock Boeser’s role, why he’s still an elite finisher despite the numbers, and how the team’s lack of play drivers has exposed his weaknesses. Finally, we zoom out to the rebuild, the importance of this upcoming draft, and how adding a true offensive driver like Gavin McKenna or Ivar Stenberg could reshape the direction of the franchise and unlock Pettersson’s game again.

- Nuckhead

What Happens If the Vancouver Canucks Get the First Pick (feat. Big Head Hockey)16 janv. 202601:30:16

In this episode, I’m joined by Big Head Hockey to break down the question Vancouver Canucks fans are already debating: if the Canucks pick first, is it McKenna or Stenberg, and what that decision would mean for the future of the franchise, while also digging into the losing season, rebuild direction, trade rumours surrounding Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser’s goal drought, NHL trade deadline selling scenarios, and which players still make sense to keep as the Canucks look ahead.– Nuckhead

Are the Canucks Actually Tanking? (feat. Canuck Clay)09 janv. 202601:02:06

In this episode, I’m joined by longtime Canucks content creator, Canuck Clay, for a real conversation about where the Vancouver Canucks are at right now. We talk about life after Quinn Hughes, how the trade feels a month later, why this season has turned into a draft-lottery watch, and what “retool with a hybrid form” is even supposed to mean.

- Nuckhead

Are Injuries Hiding the Real Canucks? (feat. Satiar Shah)14 nov. 202500:37:24

In this episode, I sit down with Canucks Central host Satiar Shah to figure out what is actually going on with the Vancouver Canucks right now. We talk about Thatcher Demko’s injury, the team’s brutal centre depth, and why the fan base is torn between rebuilding and pushing ahead. We also get into Elias Pettersson’s up-and-down season, Quinn Hughes’ frustration, and how much of the Canucks’ slow start can realistically be blamed on injuries.

– Nuckhead

Injuries Are Forcing the Canucks to Grow Up Fast (feat. Dave Hall)31 oct. 202500:45:32

In this episode I’m joined by Dave Hall from Canucks Army to talk all things Vancouver Canucks prospects. We get into Max Sasson’s ceiling, Abbotsford’s scoring drought, why Sawyer Mynio is raising eyebrows in the AHL, Vilmer Alriksson’s timeline, and who actually looks like the Canucks’ goalie of the future between Alexei Medvedev, Ty Young, and Aku Koskenvuo.

- Nuckhead

Are the Canucks Ready to Make a Trade?24 oct. 202500:24:44

In this episode, I talk about the Vancouver Canucks’ injury troubles and what Filip Chytil’s absence means for the team’s center depth. Could a trade be coming soon? I share my thoughts on Pavel Zacha, Alex Wennberg, and whether the Canucks can actually afford to make a move right now.

I also give a quick Pipe Dreamz update, correct a mistake from my last video, and look ahead to J.T. Miller’s return to Vancouver next week.– Nuckhead

Keep Garland With Pettersson17 oct. 202500:26:35

In this episode I react to the first four Vancouver Canucks games of the season and try to answer the only question that matters right now: are the Canucks actually good yet? I talk Chytil's early case as a second-line-center, why Garland and Pettersson should stick together, what the Stars game told us, what the Blues game didn’t, and why the Abby line looks legit. I also read your replies from X (fka Twitter) and talk through the new system, speed, and the roster shuffles.

– Nuckhead

The Canucks Are Back! (feat. DeanerHD)10 oct. 202501:01:38

In this episode, I kick off the 2025/26 NHL season with fellow Canucks content creator, DeanerHD. We run through the entire offseason: Brock Boeser re-signing, the Evander Kane trade and fit, the Šilovs and Joshua moves, and why the goalie pipeline with Alexei Medvedev looks legit. We gush about 18-year-old Braeden Cootes making the opening night roster, debate Willander vs. Mancini, and talk Jonathan Lekkerimäki’s shot and powerplay upside. We also touch on the McDavid extension and what it might mean for Quinn Hughes.

It feels good to be back!

Discussing the Current State of the Canucks’ Season (feat. DeanerHD)27 mars 202500:36:10

In this episode, I’m joined once again by my good pal and fellow Canucks content creator, DeanerHD, for what I think is his fifth appearance on the show. It’s been a while since we talked last, and A LOT has happened—including a little tiny trade involving J.T. MILLER. We get into that, plus last night's matchup against Bo Horvat and the New York Islanders.

This Jim Rutherford Interview Is Raising Eyebrows01 févr. 202500:44:15

In this episode, I break down everything Jim Rutherford said in his recent interview with Gary Mason of the Globe and Mail—and why I think this might be a game of 4D chess rather than a reckless act of frustration. I also respond to some of your thoughts on the drama. Sorry for the late upload—I was sidelined with an undisclosed lower-body injury this morning, but I’m good to go now.

What’s Really Going on Between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller? (feat. Carl)19 déc. 202400:51:33

In this episode I take a closer look at the rumoured drama surrounding the Vancouver Canucks dressing room. There’s been plenty of talk about a possible rift between star players Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, but nothing has been confirmed. I break down what’s being said and explore whether there’s any truth to the speculation. To help me navigate the situation, I’m joined by friend of the show, Carl, who shares his perspective on the rumours. At the end of the episode, I switch gears and ask Carl some of your burning questions about his current living situation. It's a good one! Apologies for the tardiness!

Why Can’t the Canucks Win on Home Ice? (feat. Jeff Paterson)12 déc. 202400:54:11

In this episode, I’m joined by Jeff Paterson, host of the Canucks post-game show RinkWide Vancouver and senior writer at Canucks Army. Jeff and I talk about why the Canucks are struggling to find success on home ice this season, Filip Hronek’s injury and the team’s defensive concerns, Nils Höglander’s slump and whether Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford might consider a trade, and possible line combinations for Elias Pettersson once J.T. Miller returns—including whether rookie Jonathan Lekkerimäki could be a fit. Thanks for listening, everyone!

Should the Canucks Trade Nils Höglander?06 déc. 202400:50:26

In this episode, I talk about what’s really going on with Nils Höglander—does Rick Tocchet have it out for him? I also cover the Canucks’ need for defensive depth, Quinn Hughes’ Hart Trophy potential, and whether Cole Sillinger could be joining the team. On top of that, I share what I’ve learned since starting the nuckhead YouTube channel, discuss Tyler Myers’ basketball skills, and question if Thatcher Demko and Kevin Lankinen are the NHL’s top goalie duo.

I also explore whether Noah Juulsen is ready to level up, debate who’s the real best defenceman—Quinn Hughes or Cale Makar—and share my thoughts on Conor Garland and the J.T. Miller “situation.”

Are the Canucks Stanley Cup Contenders? (feat. David Quadrelli)28 nov. 202400:20:50

In this episode, I have a quick chat with Canucks Army writer and Canucks Conversation co-host, David Quadrelli. Can Kiefer Sherwood become the first player in NHL history to surpass 400 hits in a single season—or even 500?! Is it safe to say Elias Pettersson is officially “back”? And are Nils Höglander’s days with the Canucks numbered? Hope you’re all having a great week! Don’t miss Canucks Convo, live on YouTube and X every weekday at 2 PM PT! – Nuckhead

Canucks Prospect Deep Dive (feat. Dave Hall)14 nov. 202401:04:18

In this episode, I sit down with Dave Hall, a writer for Canucks Army who covers every prospect in the Vancouver Canucks’ system. We dive into a range of players, from the well-known (Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Tom Willander, and Elias Pettersson) to the nearly unheard of (Ty Mueller, Aku Koskenvuo, and Sawyer Mynio). We also chat about the lost art of the blue-line slap shot that once had penalty killers ducking for cover—think Sami Salo, Zdeno Chara, and Shea Weber.

But before any of that, I start off by airing my frustration with Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot and his gutless, illegal check to the head of Brock Boeser.

Thanks for tuning in, everyone!

Canucks Trade Rumours and Injury Updates (feat. Satiar Shah)07 nov. 202401:05:01

In this episode, I chat with Canucks Central and Canucks game host Satiar Shah. We share our thoughts on the Vancouver Canucks’ first ten games of the season and discuss whether they’re showing signs of being true Stanley Cup contenders or not. I ask Satiar for the latest scoop on when we might see Thatcher Demko back on the ice, and where he expects Dakota Joshua to slot into the Canucks’ lineup when he's back from injury. We also take a moment to give the vastly underrated Teddy Blueger his due and explore the chances of seeing Jonathan Lekkerimäki in the lineup this year. We dig into the building trade buzz around the team and analyze which defenders might be on the Canucks’ radar. Could it be Bowen Byram? Dante Fabbro? Damon Severson? Jakob Chychrun? And, of course, I had to get Satiar’s take on what might be going on with Vancouver’s superstar center, Elias Pettersson.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg! There’s plenty more, so give it a full listen, follow Satiar Shah on X, and be sure to tune into Canucks Central on weekdays from 4 to 6 p.m. and after every Canucks game.

Thanks for listening, Nuckheads! 🫡

Re: I'm Just Here for the Riot13 juin 202400:13:28
In this (very short) episode, I wanted to share my thoughts on the new "30 for 30" documentary that aired on ESPN last week. "I'm Just Here for the Riot" covers the 2011 Stanley Cup riot in Vancouver following Game 7 of the Finals between the Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins. In my opinion, some of the negative reviews it has received are driven by resurfaced anger, which is understandable. However, I believe this anger is leading to a misunderstanding of the filmmaker’s intent and that’s what I wanted to talk about. Hope you enjoy this shorter episode. Back to the regular scheduled programming next Thursday!
