Suicide Loss Survivor Sara Rian Shares her Grief through Poetry10 Sep 202400:35:09

Sara Rian is an American poet, self-published author, mother, wife, licensed therapist, and griever living in Metro Detroit. She has been drawn to grief poetry ever since her mother's death in 2018. Her mother embraced the power of words through her own love notes and poems and had always wanted to publish a book. As a mental health professional, suicide loss survivor, and grieving human, Sara shares her work with others to let them know that they are not alone in their big love or big grief. This has also been a way for her to help make her mother’s wish come true as she is the inspiration behind every poem and book. On the show today I asked Sara to talk to me about her beloved mother Susan. Sara glows when she describes her mother. Sara said that Susan spoke ALL of the love languages, she was funny, and the definition of kindness. Her mom died by suicide in 2018 after a lengthy battle with mental illness. It left Sara in shock, angry and racked with guilt. She began to express her untamed grief through writing poetry. September is Suicide Prevention Month and our hope is to open up a conversation about the struggles that our loved ones are facing so they do not have to suffer alone. There is help available. If you or someone you know is possibly having thoughts of hurting themselves please reach out. National Suicide Prevention: If you are in crisis, please call the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or contact the Crisis Text Line by texting 741-741.

Accepting the diagnosis, not the prognosis with Jesse & Amanda03 Sep 202400:55:50

I invited my friend Jesse Brisendine back on the show and asked him to see if Amanda would join us. The two are best friends and in the last four months they have been navigating a Mount Everest of a health challenge. Amanda agreed to come on the show. Amanda is an ultra endurance athlete and was in training when things started to go south. Her leg buckled and she intuitively knew something was really wrong. The two went to the E.R. and she received the news. Amanda was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma. She is fully aware of and accepting of the diagnosis. She is not however, willing to accept the prognosis. The two are committed to exploring all avenues both western and non western alike to help her heal and enjoy more time with the people and animals she loves so dearly. The two decided to document this journey in hopes that they can create a blueprint so others can use their findings in the future to help them heal. On this show we talk about courage, bravery, and even health tips to stay focused on what really matters; the people she loves and staying in the moment. You will find out about "Death Cleaning" and what this term means, and how Amanda faced it with humor and grace. She even shares her on-going mantra, "what is the best thing that can happen right now?" This show is filled full of laughter, hope, and information for anyone facing a difficult time in their life. My hope is you will feel uplifted and inspired by this remarkable couple. It's your time to shine with Jesse & Amanda on The Next Room!

From Math Teacher to Mystic meet Kelley Baeza08 Apr 202400:37:43

On this show I introduce you to Kelley Baeza who wrote  "From Math Teacher to Mystic." This mesmerizing and inspiring memoir describes many profound and unbelievable experiences that Kelley experiences, as well as her struggle as a high school mathematics teacher, to understand and to integrate the extraordinary phenomena. Months after abandoning a PhD dissertation and beginning an Ashtanga yoga practice in 2007, mystical and psychic phenomena began. With no religious or spiritual background to view the extraordinary experiences, Kelley was continuously wondering if she was making them up or going crazy. She embarked on a quest to learn about awakening and spirituality to try to understand what was happening as premonitions, out-of-body experiences, plant spirit communications, seeing and hearing Divine Masters and other spiritually transformative events occurred.

In From Math Teacher to Mystic, Kelley shares numerous spiritual experiences including a premonition that resulted in her saving a drowning child, a spontaneous healing of chronic pain from an auto accident, accounts with thousands of dollars materializing, and being enveloped in the sensation of being loved and taken care of. Ultimately, the plethora of these experiences along with the wisdom gained from many trips to India, retreats, spiritual teachers, meditations and books, quieted her mind. Trust and faith developed in the Universal Intelligence guiding her and led her to the discovery of a life filled with inner peace, calm and contentedness even in challenging times.

Mainstream Reiki and Beyond with Master Andrea Kennedy01 Apr 202400:42:24

Today I welcome Andrea Kennedy to The Next Room. She considers herself a regular person, like most individuals—you might even call her mainstream. She started off 29 years ago as a total skeptic about Reiki. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, and continued to be intrigued with the world and how things work. Andrea decided after receiving Reiki the first time and hearing fascinating stories to take a Reiki class.

Then while she was on a trip to Egypt in 1999, her next steps became clear. She returned home and completed her Reiki training through the Master level for the first time. Today, her greatest joy is to teach all of her Reiki classes Live and Online. She feels blessed to welcome students from all around the world who often find her through her popular Mainstream Reiki YouTube channel, and podcast. She is a delightful guest and after listening to the show she has me convinced that everyone on the planet would benefit from this Life Force Energy known as Reiki!

Messages from Beyond and Nothing to Fear with Jim McInnes25 Mar 202400:40:06

In this show, I will introduce you to an old radio buddy and friend of mine Jim McInnes. Jim and I met in the 90's when we worked at the classic rock legendary radio station in San Diego the KGB. Jim McInnes is one of the most respected broadcasters in Southern California. As one may assume our friendship was based on music, radio, and mutual respect. What we did not realize all those decades ago is that we were also aligned in many other ways.

During today's podcast Jimmy shares a fascinating story with me about his mother. His mother Jeanne was extremely spiritual and when he was just a young man she would often talk to him about the afterlife. She even told him she would be sure to visit him when her time eventually came when she died. Well, that day did arrive.

Jeanne crossed over on December 8th, 1997 with Jimmy and his brother at her bedside. As promised she did indeed visit him. It was the following March while he and his wife Sandi were visiting his family heritage in Ireland. During her brief visitation, his mother appeared so lifelike, that Jim actually reached for her. She had an important life message for him. She told him to never, ever be afraid, especially of death and dying and that she would see him again one day. From the moment his mother visited him in a hotel room in Dublin on Jim felt an easy peaceful feeling wash over him about this life experience. From that day forward Jim stopped fearing anything and taking everything in stride
