159. Embracing Non-Outcome-Based Childbirth Preparation With Amanda Gorman08 Jun 202300:43:23

Welcome back to the New Mom Boss Podcast! In this episode, we are learning all about non-outcome-based childbirth preparation with my special guest, Amanda Gorman. As a childbirth educator and postpartum support advocate, Amanda brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table.

She shares some incredible insights into what it means to approach childbirth without being tied to a specific outcome, discusses three different types of knowing that can aid women in their birth preparation, and even gives us her top three things she wishes she’d known when giving birth the first time.

 Some big takeaways are:

  1. It takes a lot of openness to not tie yourself to a certain birth outcome.
  2. Sometimes the real treasure is looking back to your ancestral roots.
  3. Don’t judge yourself too harshly - practice self-compassion.

Amanda also spends time covering a variety of birthing classes that women should look into for childbirth education. They are listed in the show notes, so head there to learn more! www.newmomboss.com/blog/159

148. Empowering Your Matrescence Journey: Minimalism, Support, and Belly Binding With Gigi Vera Vincent16 Mar 202300:32:43

In this episode, I'm chatting with the amazing Gigi Vincent - a childbirth educator, doula, newborn care specialist, and lactation educator. We're talking all about matrescence - that crazy transition into motherhood - and how to make it a little less daunting.

We get real about creating a postpartum support team because let's be honest - we can't do this alone! Gigi shares her secrets to streamlining the newborn learning curve and thriving in the fourth trimester and beyond by taking a minimalist approach to baby gear. Say goodbye to unnecessary gadgets and hello to a simpler life!

We're also talking about Bengkung belly binding. Yup, it's a thing and it's amazing. Gigi breaks down the benefits of belly binding for postpartum healing and core stability. It's all about bringing that core together and feeling more comfortable in your body after giving birth.

 Some big takeaways are:

146. Bicornuate Uterus(??) and Reducing Birth Trauma with Kaely Harrod02 Mar 202300:35:44

Welcome back to the New Mom Boss Podcast! Join me in this episode as I talk with Kaely Harrod, an experienced doula and mother of three who has been helping families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum for over 12 years. We dive deep into the topic of birth trauma and specifically discuss ways moms can minimize the amount of trauma they experience during birth.

Kaely shares her own experience with birth trauma due to a Bicornuate Uterus and how it was the driving force behind her work as a doula. She emphasizes the importance of informed consent, how trauma varies from person to person, as well as the importance of validating each person's experience.

 Some big takeaways are:

  1. Trauma is defined by the person experiencing it and can be anything from an emergency to unmet expectations.
  2. Informed consent is crucial to minimizing birth trauma.
  3. You have complete freedom to pause and consider your options during labor.
