EP 26 / Nicole Spencer / Heroes In Transition / Ruck4HIT

Episode 26

vendredi 5 avril 2024Duration 51:46

Today's pod guest is Nicole Spencer. Nicole is the executive director of Heroes in Transition, an organization that provides assistance for veterans, service members, and their families. Every year the organization puts together a run called Ruck4HIT, a team-based 200-mile ruck relay that goes through all 15 towns on Cape Cod. We chat with Nicole about the history of the organization, what the ruck symbolizes, and what inspires her while she's out on those long nighttime runs with a 20-pound ruck sack.

Our guests on today's pod are Gaby Arvizu and Robert Kessel. If you've ever run or spectated the Los Angeles Marathon, you've undoubtedly seen the thousands of young students in matching shirts taking part in the race. Those students are all getting the opportunity to run thanks to Students Run LA, a charity organization that connects students with teachers and mentors to help them train for, and finish the LA Marathon. Gaby is the President and CEO of SRLA and Robert sits on its board. Ep 16 / John Radich / Tales from Badwater / Running Across the USA

Season 1 · Episode 16

mardi 23 août 2022Duration 01:02:12

Today's guest is John Radich. We met John at the LA Marathon Expo and couldn't help but notice his Badwater belt buckle. After approaching him, we immediately sensed his warmth and generosity, and knew we had to have him on the pod (he also casually mentioned that he's completed Badwater 14 times!). John takes us through his history of running ultras going back to 1979. At 68, John is still crushing miles and if he's not running Badwater, he's out there crewing it. He also talks us through his cross-continental run and why it doesn't count unless you put your feet in the water.
