| The Penn Relays Begin at Penn: A Tradition Rooted in Speed, Culture, and Diaspora Pride | 24 Apr 2025 | 00:05:59 | |
The Penn Relays have officially begun at the University of Pennsylvania—my alma mater—and once again, the historic Franklin Field is alive with the spirit of one of the oldest and most prestigious track and field events in the Americas. Hosted annually by Penn Athletics, the Relays are more than just a sporting event—they are a cultural moment, especially for the Caribbean diaspora. You simply cannot mention the Penn Relays without mentioning Jamaica in the same breath. Jamaicans have long been dominant and enthusiastic participants, from high school standouts to collegiate champions. The relays serve as a proving ground for emerging talent and a showcase of track royalty. I remember one year when I had the privilege to volunteer at the games. It was a moment I’ll never forget—I met the likes of Bill Cosby, the Hon. Portia Simpson Miller (Jamaica’s first woman Prime Minister), and track legends such as Asafa Powell, Usain Bolt, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. The electric atmosphere, the sound of cheering crowds, and the buzz around potential stars from across the U.S. and Caribbean left an indelible mark on me. Yet, something feels different this year. While the 2025 Penn Relays have kicked off with their usual modest energy, there’s a noticeable lack of media coverage and buzz. Surprisingly, many locals in Philadelphia I spoke to either weren’t aware the Penn Relays were happening or didn’t know what the event was at all. This is a stark contrast to years past, when the city would buzz with anticipation and pride. Still, the Caribbean diaspora and college track athletes from around the country are already making their way to the city, bringing with them a growing excitement that’s starting to creep in. Although mainstream media has yet to fully engage, the passion of the people remains. A quick keyword search or hashtag scroll for “Penn Relays 2025” yields only a handful of results—disappointing for such a historic event. We remain hopeful that as the week unfolds, coverage will swell and the attention this event deserves will return. In these turbulent and uncertain times, we need events like the Penn Relays. They offer catharsis and community—a moment to celebrate excellence, heritage, and unity. Between the NBA playoffs and the Penn Relays, there’s a lot to look forward to this week. Stay tuned—The Neoliberal Round and our YouTube channel may bring you interviews, event highlights, and the heartbeat of the city and its athletes as the games progress. Until then, Renaldo C. | News: The Attempted Assassination of Former President Donald Trump at Rally | 14 Jul 2024 | 00:24:52
A Troubling Incident: That's how The NeoLiberal Journals at The Neoliberal Corporation is reporting the assassination attempt on Former President Donald J. Trump. On this episode of The NeoLiberal Round Podcast and YouTube Channel, Host Renaldo McKenzie and Co-Hst discuss the article and news surrounding the Assassination. We also provide news clips from actual footage from our sources and affiliates and other third-party news. The video of Donald Trump is played in the foreground as the hosts discuss and comment on the attack at the rally. The story is available in The Neoliberal Journals at The Neoliberal Corporation: https://theneoliberal.com/a-troubling-incident-questions-arise-after-attempted-assassination-at-trump-rally/Visit us at https://theneoliberal.comPlease support us at https://anchor.fm/theneoliberal/support. Subscribe for free https://anchor.fm/theneoliberal Recent events at the Donald Trump rally have raised serious concerns. Eyewitnesses report seeing a 20-year-old (Thomas Crooks) attempting to assassinate Donald Trump by climbing a building with a rifle, an area that should have been secured. Despite alerting law enforcement, bystanders observed no immediate action. Furthermore, Secret Service agents were seen on a roof behind Trump, aiming their guns at the shooter, yet law enforcement only reacted after the shooter fired his weapon. This delay in response prompts critical questions about potential failures and the possibility of organized involvement. Initial reports indicate the gunman did not act alone, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The gunman was eventually killed by law enforcement. We must examine where law enforcement fell short and whether this incident was part of a larger conspiracy. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Secret Service, and other Law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident and will provide further updates on the stories circulating bout the assassination attempts. Background: The attempted assassination occurred during a highly anticipated rally where former President Donald Trump was addressing his supporters. The 20-year-old gunman, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigation, managed to gain access to a vantage point that should have been off-limits. This breach of security has sparked outrage and calls for a thorough investigation into the protocols and actions of the law enforcement agencies involved. Key Details:

This incident underscores the critical need for rigorous security measures and swift, decisive action in the face of threats. The NeoLiberal Journals will continue to follow this story closely, providing updates as more information becomes available.
| Caribbean Thought Lecture 11: The Paradox of Sovereignty by Prof Renaldo C, McKenzie | 14 Jul 2024 | 01:08:35 | |
What is the difference between Haiti and Cuba and the other Caribbean Islands such as Jamaica and Barbados? In today's Lecture, we begin by asking the students to provide an answer from several options. The activity provided a vital introduction to the topic, exploring the paradox of sovereignty. The Lecture is part of a course at Jamaica Theological Seminary https://jts.edu.jm and a Lecture series by The Neoliberal Corporation , https://theneoliberal.com. The students in the class are taking the course via zoom from all over the world. The Lecture is delivered by Professor Renaldo McKenzie, Author of Neoliberalism, Globalization, Income Inequality, Poverty and Resistance and Doctoral Candidate at Georgetown University and Temple University Renaldo graduated from University of Penn and is a Penn Alumni. Lecture in Notes: The Paradox of Sovereignty: Cuba and Haiti's Struggle for Freedom and the Challenge of Development (Chapter Excerpt). By Rev. Renaldo McKenzie, Author of NeoLiberal Globalization Reconsidered,Professor of Caribbean Thought, Jamaica Theological Seminary Brain Teaser: Quiz What do Haiti and Cuba not have in common with D.R., Jamaica, Trinidad, and Barbados? 1. Poorest in the world 2. Black and brown peoples 3. Granted freedoms 4. Taken Freedoms 5. Embargoes and shaky diplomacy and international relations 6. Debt, dependency and non-competitiveness 7. Formerly colonized Options: A. 2, 5, 6 and 7 B. 1, 4 and 5 C. 1 only 3 D. 3 and 4 E. 1, 3, and 4 F. All of the above The Answer Reveals A Complex Tapestry of Independence and Adversity With its vibrant cultures, rich histories, and diverse peoples, the Caribbean region has long been a subject of fascination and study. Within this complex tapestry of Caribbean thought lies a brain teaser, a puzzle that invites contemplation and analysis. This quiz, exploring the nuanced differences among various Caribbean nations, catalyzes deeper reflection on the socio-political landscapes of these countries. At the heart of this brain teaser lies a question: What sets Haiti and Cuba apart from the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Trinidad, and Barbados? The options presented delve into a myriad of factors, from economic status to historical legacies, shedding light on the unique trajectories of these nations.Upon closer examination, the correct answer emerges 1, 4, and 5. This selection illuminates key distinctions between Haiti, Cuba, and their counterparts. Firstly, Haiti and Cuba are the poorest nations in the Caribbean, grappling with economic challenges exacerbated by external pressures such as embargoes and diplomatic complexities. Unlike their counterparts, who have experienced varying degrees of economic stability, Haiti and Cuba find themselves ensnared in a cycle of poverty and dependency. Secondly, the notion of granted freedoms versus taken freedoms emerges as a pivotal theme. While countries like Jamaica, Trinidad, and Barbados have navigated the complexities of post-colonial governance and attained a degree of political autonomy, Haiti and Cuba have a tumultuous history of fighting for their independence. Yet, despite their efforts to chart their own destinies, they remain ensnared in geopolitical struggles, their sovereignty undermined by external interventions.Thirdly, embargoes, shaky diplomacy, and international relations serve as formidable barriers to progress for Haiti and Cuba. Unlike their counterparts, who have forged diplomatic alliances and pursued avenues of economic growth, Haiti and Cuba find themselves marginalized on the global stage, grappling with the repercussions of contentious international policies. The crux of the matter lies in understanding the complexities of Caribbean thought and the diverse experiences of its constituent...Excerpt Ends. Submitted by Prof. Renaldo McKenzie. | Question: Should President Joe Biden Withdraw From The Presidential Race? | 07 Jul 2024 | 00:20:18
These are pivotal times for President Joe Biden and the Democrats who must decide on whether to continue to have Joe Biden at the top of the Presidential ticket given his decline which was evident at the presidential debate last week Thursday, where he could not complete his answers/sentences, seeming oblivious at times, coughing with a cold and speaking slightly unintelligibly. Democrats and many on the left or left-leaning are urging him to get out of the race. Joe Biden has remained resolute accepting his failures at the debate but has not indicated that he would bow out, and stated that he is not going anywhere. Biden was also interviewed by the ABC team, days after the debate, hoping to repair the damage and to look presidential and able. Regardless, the interview on ABC did not do anything to quell the rising discontent. If anything, Biden appeared still suffering from a cold. Host Renaldo C McKenzie and Co-Host Donte T Nelson discuss this and more on The Neoliberal Round Podcast. The episode begins with two brief recordings, the first 2 minutes of the debate between the candidates. Then we share a brief recording of ABC reporters commenting on the interview that Biden did. After that, Renaldo mostly provides an in-depth analysis and commentary about whether Biden should step down and reports on the mood in the streets. | Caribbean Thought Lecture Summer 2024 Week 1 Part 2: Reviewing the Outline, Where Do We Begin? | 17 Jun 2024 | 02:21:55
Where and with whom do we begin? In Part 2 of the #CaribbeanThought Summer 2024 Week 1 Lecture, Prof. Renaldo McKenzie at Jamaica Theological Seminary laid the foundation for the course. Prof. McKenzie reviewed the course outline and delved into some broad thinkers, texts, and general questions of the course. Rev. McKenzie begins the Lecture by making the point that, the realities of the dark ghettoes and or black and brown communities resemble the colonies and or former colonies within the caribbean. The socioeconomic realities of the black and brown peoples in the global north are similar to that of the black experience in the Caribbean which is largely made up of nations that are made of the predominantly black. This course focuses on and explores the diverse currents of Caribbean Thought, which have influenced the development of Caribbean societies from colonialism to independence and beyond. It traces the history of resistance and examines the quest for equality and the challenge of defining Caribbean identity within this post-colonial and neoliberal Globalized world not just within the geographic sense but also in terms of a diasporic sense. It challenges the students to develop and express their own critical thinking as a Caribbean people in a unique way that helps to realize further the hope of a free independent Caribbean that is bursting with hope and opportunity. However, the course understands that it requires that students begin to critique and explore their own thinking in a deeply esoteric and critical way that deconstructs history and philosophy. At the end they will create their own Caribbean thought leading to a Caribbean Academic Journal of Young academics and future scholars. The Course will make you estranged from self, but it is geared towards getting you out of your bubble and considering issues that will make you uncomfortable. Frantz Fanon, Homi Bhabha, C. L. R. James, Bob Marley et al, and Christianity/Religion, music and sports are currents we will explore. The episode has images of course resources; such as texts, maps, notable characters that will be referenced throughout the course, etc. The Lecture is very informative and provides an introductory level to the discussions in postcolonialism with academia and Pan African Thought. The Lecture is part of a course offered at Jamaica Theological Seminary and students seeking a 4-year degree at the seminary are required to sit the course. The course follows strict academic rigor and scrutiny. There is an exam at the end of the course. which students are required to sit. The lecture episodes are a production of The Neoliberal Corporation and are made available on The NeoLiberal Round podcast and YouTube channel for educational purposes and to promote and facilitate access to critical thinking and learning. We took to the streets in Philadelphia to ascertain people's reactions toward Donald Trump being convicted on all 34 counts related to the Stormy Daniel's Hush Money trial. We spoke with several individuals randomly. Some persons were unaware of the case and conviction, and others were shocked that he was convicted based on Trump's ability to win cases. Most of the respondents indicated that it did not change their opinions one way or the other. But several individuals questioned whether a convicted felon can run and serve as President of the US given the fact that convicted felons are not allowed to take certain positions. | Tariffs on China? A Tax on the Poor | 10 Apr 2025 | 00:18:35
Dear Mr. President, Re: Tariffs on China? A Tax on the Poor
If Trump places a 125% tariff on China in response to their retaliatory tariff, then it means poor people in the U.S. are being taxed. And what of economies of scale? Sure, the goods are cheap, but not everyone can buy at Acme. Some go to Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, and the corner shop. These stores can afford to charge low prices because they access cheap goods that serve low-wage communities. Low-wage communities aren’t changing anytime soon, so how will they survive this tax if their main suppliers are taxed? Acme’s not coming to the hoods—they don’t thrive there. Unless we have cheaply made goods in the U.S. that serve a particular economy, these communities will be left out. But that means the U.S. must diversify and include specializations that provide affordable goods tailored to certain “economies.”

According to Erin Dooley at the Media Affairs Office at the Texas Department of Justice, in a press release stated that Following a five-day bench trial before Senior U.S. District Judge Terry R Means, he was convicted on all 33 counts of assisting in the preparation of a fraudulent return and was immediately taken into custody” (Press Release by the DOJ on Friday May 24, 2024: https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndtx/pr/mansfield-tax-preparer-convicted-33-counts-tax-fraud-after-bench-trial).
Despite his high-profile legal battles, Castro’s lawsuits in multiple states were largely dismissed. In January, he filed an appeal in Florida against Judge Eileen Cannon’s decision to dismiss his case and sought her recusal from all cases involving Trump, citing bias. Concurrently, Castro faced his own legal troubles, being indicted on Federal Tax Fraud charges.
In January 2024, The NeoLiberal Round Podcast released an episode featuring Castro, where he vehemently denied any wrongdoing related to the indictment. He explained the errors leading to the charges and stated that he had taken steps to correct them. Castro expressed confidence in his ability to clear his name and reiterated his commitment to his presidential campaign.
On April 16, 2024, Castro provided an update, maintaining his innocence and preparing for his May 20th hearing. He indicated plans to testify and expressed a desire to step away from politics afterward. However, following the hearing, on May 20th, Castro was arrested and taken into custody.
The Texas State Department of Justice released details of the ruling, revealing that Castro, owner of the virtual tax preparation business Castro & Company, had falsely inflated client tax returns. Convicted on all 33 counts of assisting in the preparation of fraudulent returns, Castro now faces up to 99 years in federal prison, with each count carrying a potential three-year sentence... | A Reading Of The Preface From Oppenheimer's Book: The Rise And Fall Of The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee | 24 May 2024 | 00:14:21
Martin Oppenheimer has a new book out. It is entitled "The Rise And Fall Of The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee," published in April 2024. The book is an expert analysis of SNCC's history from its inception to now. With a deep understanding of protest movements in America, and his work as a Sociologist and Professor at Rutgers, Penn, and Lincoln University over the years, and his research and works on the State of Modern Society, he was able to provide an erudite analysis, combining history with reality. Recently, there have been several student protests on university campuses against the Israel-Palestinian War and the US support, calling for a ceasefire. Nevertheless, these actions are not as organized as they were in the 1960s and beyond, where student movements were institutional, strategic, and coordinated. Oppenheimer's new book makes this case by presenting his arguments using historical and sociological analysis in a novel and powerful way. Martin will be featured in The Neoliberal Round Podcast with host Renaldo McKenzie, talking about his new book in an upcoming episode to be released by the end of May 2024. Here is the Preface of his new book available at Ingram Spark, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and The Neoliberal Corporation Store, store.theneoliberal.com. The Preface:
We were among the dozens of German-Jewish refugee families from Nazi Germany who ended up becoming chicken farmers in semi-rural South Jersey during the War. A school bus took me to a Middle School for my eighth grade. One day around Easter time, I heard a shout directed at me: “Christ killer.” Yes, the old libel from the Middle Ages from my neighbors’ children while the war against the Nazi state was still underway. There were no Black people in the local town but one day the school bus stopped at a driveway leading to a large farm to pick up two Black kids maybe eight or nine years old. The white kids on the bus loudly erupted with the N word while the two Black kids hovered, frightened, in their seats. I got up and loudly over the noise said, “Why are you yelling at them, they’ve done nothing to you!” Some of the white kids then turned on me, calling me a “N-lover.” I had never heard that expression. I learned later in my college sociology class what I had done: I had “identified with the oppressed.” Sociology opened the door to learning more about both oppressors like the local kids on the bus and what they represented on a larger scale, and the oppressed, like the new kids and the millions who looked like them. I joined my University’s National Association for the Advancement of Colored People club. In 1953, I was drafted into the tail-end of the Korean war and spent nine months stationed in Alabama. If you had eyes, you could see in the neighboring towns the realities of full-scale racial segregation, though as a Northern white soldier you should, for your safety, ignore it. A few years later, just as I was searching for a Ph.D. dissertation topic within the broad field of what was not yet called African-American studies, it dropped into my lap: The Sit-In Movement of “Negro” (not yet Black) students in the South had just begun. The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.... Get a copy of the book and view the Preface at https://theneoliberal.com. Submitted by Prof. Renaldo C. McKenzie, Content Chief and Author of Neoliberalism book series. Martin Oppenheimer is the author of several books, including The State of Modern Society, and Contributing Author of Renaldo McKenzi's, "Neoliberal Globalization Reconsidered, Neo-Capitalism and The Death Of Nations," to be released in 2024. | Should Theology Transcend Culture? Caribbean Thought Lecture 13 Excerpt, Semester 2, 2024 | 09 May 2024 | 00:42:26
The relationship between theology and culture is a complex and multifaceted one, with scholars and practitioners offering differing perspectives on whether theology should transcend culture or be deeply embedded within it (Transcendence Vs the Immanence of God and theology). To address this question, it is essential to define theology and culture and explore their interplay in both historical and contemporary contexts. Theology, at its core, is the study of the divine, religious beliefs, and the nature of the divine being or beings. It encompasses doctrines, rituals, ethics, and interpretations of sacred texts within various religious traditions. Culture, on the other hand, refers to the shared beliefs, values, customs, and practices of a particular group of people, often shaped by factors such as history, geography, language, and social structures. Throughout history, theology and culture have been intertwined, influencing and shaping each other in profound ways. Religious beliefs and practices are often deeply embedded within cultural contexts, reflecting the values, norms, and traditions of a society. Conversely, theology has also played a role in shaping culture, providing frameworks for understanding the world, guiding ethical behavior, and fostering community cohesion. However, the question of whether theology should transcend culture raises important considerations regarding the universality of religious truth claims and the diversity of human experiences and perspectives. Proponents of the transcendence of theology argue that religious truths are universal and transcendent, applicable to all people regardless of cultural context. They posit that theology should provide timeless principles and moral guidance that are not bound by cultural limitations. On the other hand, advocates for the embeddedness of theology within culture emphasize the importance of contextualization and cultural relevance in religious practice and interpretation. They argue that theology must be understood and expressed within the cultural frameworks of particular communities, taking into account their unique histories, languages, and worldviews. This approach acknowledges the diversity of human experiences and the dynamic nature of culture, allowing theology to evolve and adapt to changing social contexts. Furthermore, the transcendence of theology over culture can lead to the imposition of dominant cultural norms and values onto marginalized communities, perpetuating systems of power and inequality. Embracing cultural diversity within theology fosters inclusivity, allowing for the voices and perspectives of marginalized groups to be heard and valued within religious discourse. In conclusion, the relationship between theology and culture is a dynamic and complex one, with both perspectives offering valuable insights into the nature of religious belief and practice. While some argue for the transcendence of theology over culture, emphasizing universal truths and principles, others advocate for the embeddedness of theology within culture, acknowledging the diversity of human experiences and the importance of cultural context. Ultimately, the challenge lies in finding a balance between these perspectives, recognizing the universality of religious truths while respecting the diversity of cultural expressions and interpretations. | Dear Mr. President, Comparing the Holocaust to October 7th, 2023 is a Pseudo-Appeal to Association | 09 May 2024 | 00:11:06
To: President Joe Biden, on your recent message on March 7th, 2024, commemorating the Holocaust. Dear, Mr. President, Comparing the Holocaust to what happened on October 7th, 2023, when Hamas bombed parts of the Gaza, which Jews occupied, was a pseudo-appeal to association. Nevertheless, what happened to the Jews, must never happen to anyone. Remembering the Holocaust should not just be about Jews, but also about the inhumanity of humans that would cause Hitler to create concentration camps to gas and torture millions of Jews as a way of racial cleansing to create a pure race that is Arian. Racism, colonialism, extremism, ethnic cleansing, and discrimination, still exist in the world today: From Russia's invasion of Ukraine to China's threats of war to re-control Taiwan. Similarly, Palestinians have had to deal with Israel's aggression and domination over the years, who have also objected and rejected the Palestinian state. To many Palestinians, Israel today has created a holocaust experience killing thousands in response to what Israel says is a response to Hamas' recent bombing. However, Israel's response has been magnanimous, as they brace to invade Raffah where many refugees and civilians On October 7, 2023, Hams bombed parts of the Israel-occupied section of #gaza in response to what many Palestinians feel justified about as they fight for independence and nationhood. Israel today is a far more powerful country, with friends such as the US, UK, Canada, and many other post-industrial nations. Mr. Biden to compare October 7, 2023, with the Holocaust, when millions of Palestinians today are under siege by Israel trying to root out Hamas terrorists, was inappropriate and a "question-begging epithet". I discuss this some more on The Neoliberal Round podcast and YouTube channel, plus explore the question of, "how can we reconcile "freedom of expression" and "speech" with "hate speech"? And, "can we legislate on hate and love"? Sincerely, Rev. Renaldo C. | The Prey and the Predator: Understanding Human and Animal Responses to Conflict, by Renaldo McKenzie | 03 May 2024 | 00:13:13
The NeoLiberal - In the complex and fraught arena of conflict, the dynamics between predator and prey often mirror those seen in the natural world. When attacked and cornered, the instinctive responses of fright, flight, or fight come to the fore. This fundamental survival mechanism, ingrained in both humans and animals, shapes the course of conflicts and wars. On October 7th, 2023, the world witnessed a tragic escalation of violence as Hamas launched a deadly attack on Israel, resulting in the loss of hundreds of Israeli lives. Hamas justified this action as resistance to occupation and years of provocations. In response, Israel retaliated with overwhelming force, resulting in the deaths of thousands and the displacement of millions. However, the roots of the Israel-Palestine conflict run much deeper than this recent escalation.... The question may arise, as it relates to the course and what we are contending for, why are we focussed on Haiti? Every time I teach the course the focus is different, yet the conclusions are almost identical. This semester focuses on Haiti, as a case study when studying the Caribbean position in the world today and the currents that have led to its invention as we contend for a reinvented Caribbean in the 21st century. The Lecture begins by analyzing the course and why we are focussing on Haiti by highlighting the idea behind the textbook which is a case study about Jamaica speaking about the Caribbean and global south experience in a post-colonial post-independent world. The Professor uses this to support the ways we are approaching the course. Much like the film Life and Debt a documentary film about Jamaica's socio-political-economic history based on a book about Antigua entitled "A Small Place". The Professor makes the point how each Caribbean experience from colonization to independence and to now has followed similar paths in relation to their position in the world and the international strategies that have come to formulate the Caribbean as an invention. Rev. Renaldo surveys Caribbean economic history drawing on several theorists from the Caribbean and the post-colonial such as Ramesh Ramsarwan, Rex Nettleford, Nelson and Nelson, C.L. R. James, Walter Rodney, and his own work, Neoliberalism book 1. The Lecture also featured a special guest Lecturer, Fr. Hyvenson Josephs, a Haitian American originally from Haiti who is an episcopal Priest living in Florida. He provided the latest update on Haiti indicating that Haitians are demanding a Haitian-led solution that follows the constitution of Haiti. However, Dr. Henry is exiled but remains as the Installed PM by the foreign gang of four - US, Germany, France, and Canada. Further, it was revealed that Canada is training a small group of Jamaican military to go to Haiti to help with security. The Lecture was powerful and ended with Rev. Renaldo McKenzie reviewing an article for the Jamaica Gleaner on the importance of exploring Attitudes Toward Afro-Caribbean Beliefs and Traditions and problematizing the immigration issue. The Class was done via the Zoom platform for the course, Caribbean Thought involving several students registered for the course at Jamaica Theological Seminary, https://jts.edu.jm. | Trump V Biden 2: Exploring NYC Black & Brown People's Support for President on The NeoLiberal Round | 10 Apr 2024 | 00:42:19
We did a unique study, polling black and brown people's support for Trump or Biden in New York City, particularly Harlem, Manhattan to ascertain how the black and brown population would vote if the elections were called today. This is part 2 of a series in response to a video clip on Twitter showing how blacks in Chicago are supporting Trump. We at The NeoLiberal Round decided to conduct a study via the podcast where we ask black and brown people at random who they are voting for and whether they are Republicans or Democrats and also their socio-economic status (financially stable or not), plus other demographical questions such as age, heritage - Caribbean, Latin America or African American with little to no connections to any foreign heritage, etc. The interviews comprised over 25 individuals from various age groups and political affiliations. We aired the interviews of the individuals who agreed to be interviewed on the show for the broadcast. The episode also contains an in-depth analysis of the interviews with the respondents. It wraps up at the end with a summary of the findings and the interviews which included a comparison of Philly black voters against NYC Black Voters. The findings will be published in The NeoLiberal Journals and The NeoLiberal Post at The NeoLiberal Corporation The episode is a compilation of the various video interviews we conducted between March 10th and March 30th in NYC on location at 125th and Morningside and other locations in Harlem. The episode starts with a clip excerpt of the respondents and the host on several takes mashed together for a sensational and epic blend which then segways into the introduction by the Host of the individual short interviews. This episode has over 10 respondents on short clips between 28 seconds and 4 minutes. Summary Points: 1. Many people who are Democrats say that they are voting for Trump, but the Republicans we spoke to indicated that they are voting for or supporting Biden. 2. Four/Five years ago, when Trump ran against Biden, many if not most New Yorkers in NYC, who may have been supporting or thinking about voting for Trump, would not bravely share or discuss this with anyone; for their safety and sanity. Today, that is not the case, as is evident in the episode, since many publicly, boldly, and bravely discussed some in groups with other onlookers around and others spoke so loudly as if they were delivering a gospel message at an outdoor church service. How does the Support differ? 3. College-educated, Versus the non-college 4. Financially stable Vis-a-vis those struggling economically and getting by on odd jobs or low wages 5. Caribbean/West Indians 6. Latin and Hispanic Americans 6. Abortion, Conservative Values 7. White Americans who are politically entrenched 8. Younger people versus Older peoples 9. Verbalizing support versus actually going out to vote on election day. This episode was created, written, filmed, edited, and produced by Renaldo McKenzie, the President of The NeoLiberal Corporation, Doctoral Candidate at Georgetown Univ, and Author of Neoliberalism, Globalization, Income Inequality, Poverty and Resistance. | Caribbean Thought Lecture 10: Exploring Haiti's Struggle for Democracy and Prosperity ft Fr. Josephs | 06 Apr 2024 | 00:59:00
This is the second part of a 3-hour Lecture, featuring Fr. Hyvenson Josephs updating the Caribbean Thought class at Jamaica Theological Seminary regarding the latest in #haiti as we explore Post-Independent #caribbean today and the challenge for #democracy: We learned that: 1. The gangs have taken over the country including the National Library and Museum stealing art pieces worth millions. 2. Dr. Ariel Henry is still exiled in #puertorico but refuses to resign until his idea for a presidential college is implemented, as the #haitian constitution is rebuffed by the actions of a foreign core group pulling Haiti's strings. 3. Haitians continue to call for a #haitian-led solution 4. while #canada, one of the core group of post-industrial countries that controls Haiti trains #jamaican military to go to #haiti ignoring #caricom's charter promoting Caribbean Unity and Independence as it safeguards Caribbean Sovereignty. 5. The gangs feel justified in their takeover highlighting the external gangs that control Haiti today which is unconstitutional. The full Lecture will be available on Sunday April 7, 2024, on The NeoLiberal Round Podcast on any podcast stream. | The Erosion of Childhood Social Media, Substance Use, and the Crisis in Psycho-Social Development | 05 Apr 2024 | 00:08:01
In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, the traditional framework for children's psycho-social development is being eroded. The slow, deliberate exposure to stimuli that once characterized childhood has been replaced by a world where social media reigns supreme, parental guidance is often lacking, and tolerance for potentially harmful behaviors such as marijuana use is on the rise. Gone are the days when children could navigate the complexities of social interaction at their own pace, guided by parental wisdom and faith-based values. Instead, they find themselves thrust into an environment where reality TV and pop culture glorify superficiality over substance, leaving them ill-equipped to engage meaningfully with others. The consequences of this societal shift are dire. We are witnessing a disturbing uptick in senseless killings, suicides, and mental health crises among our youngest citizens. The correlation between these tragedies and the increasing prevalence of drug use, particularly marijuana, cannot be ignored. As the age at which children are exposed to these substances continues to plummet, so too does their likelihood of experiencing long-term effects on brain development, personality, and mental well-being.... | Commentary: On A Quick Note: Unfair Competitive Practices: The Root Cause of Immigration Crisis | 04 Apr 2024 | 00:14:54
Recently, I published an article in The NeoLiberal Journals exploring the immigration problem concerning the context of a competitive world where the few continue their dominance and advantages at the expense of post-industrial nations still navigating their new independence which has left them dependent and even poorer or more vulnerable. This episode presents the article and provides some more commentary on the issue delving into the realities that many pundits and analysts have not included when addressing the immigration crisis, especially at the border today which continues to be a political issue that has helped to thwart any real solution to the problem. The article is available for reading in #theneoliberalcorporation journals at https://theneoliberal.com/the-neoliberal-journals at theneoliberal.com. The article was written by Renaldo McKenzie, author of Neoliberalism books 1 and 2 an Adjunct Professor at Jamaica Theological Seminary, Doctoral Candidate and a Faculty Student Advisor at Georgetown University Temple University, and a graduate University of Penn. | Do You Support Trump or Biden? Part 1: Who are Black and Brown Peoples in Philly Hoods Support. | 01 Apr 2024 | 00:48:34
In this first episode series exploring the black and brown support for #trump or #biden, #trumpvsbiden, The NeoLiberal Round and The NeoLiberal Corporation took to the streets in the hood of Philly to gauze support in response to another show indicating support growing among blacks in #chicago. We wanted to know if this was the same thing in other black and brown communities and decided to create a podcast series to do just that on The NeoLiberal Round Podcast. We interviewed over 10 people at random, in #philadelphia, some in groups and some individually. The responses were mixed but quite revealing as we found that blacks in #philly were supporting Trump but not all. We delve deep into exploring support for Trump or Biden. We found that most men who are unstable or younger men who lack money and limited exposure to the news, are supporting Trump, while those who are already politically connected are supporting Biden Further, we found that while many are supporting Trump, these same individuals are not actually going out to vote as we asked if they will actually go out to vote on elections day. Many said no but still support Trump. We spoke with only 2 - 3 women, one was very sympathetic towards Trump and would support him, but will not vote. The other is anti-Trump given the issue of abortion rights. Educated and middle-aged men who are college educated and working a stable job seem to be supporting Biden and will vote, and those who are concerned with losing their social services. The interviews were done among several people over several days between March 1 and March 31, 2024. The interviews were raw and done at random within homes on the fly for quick and immediate replies. The video contains strong language nd smoking. The episode was intense, powerful, and compact with strong opinions from the various groups. It was also funny, deep, and yes academic and political since we conducted anthropological research about political issues. Part 2 will be released tomorrow April 2, 2024, at Midnight and will feature residents from #newyorkcity The episode is available in video via YouTube by The NeoLiberal Round Channel, and via Spotify via #theneoliberalround #podcast. The video will also be available in audio Podcast on any podcast stream. Find yours here @SpotifyforPodcasters : https://anchor.fm/theneoliberal.
